How to get rid of App Banner - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Is there any way to remove the banner that is above the actual application? See the screenshot.

I'm using a T-989 with Darkside Evolution ICS
Thanks!
(P.S. I have looked this up, but found nothing...)

For some reason your screen shot isn't showing. As long as your rooted look for ad free in the play store. It blocks those banners in apps. Been using it for a while now with no issues.

Actually, I was referring to the stock calculator app. The word "Calculator" is always above the actual app, and as I use it for doing school work, I would like to not have it there. (Check the screen shot and you'll see what I mean).
Thanks for the tips about the ad remover though. I'll definitely look into that.

Sorry, just realised the screen shot isn't working...
Here is what should have been posted.

or modify the apk

Push this calculator from CM9 (or move it with a file explorer) to system/app then reboot.

samsung free apps

I hadn't heard of Samsung free apps before, but engadget ( http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/21/samsungs-in-a-gifting-mood-is-giving-away-up-to-16-free-games/) just listed a method for getting free apps from Samsung. Apparently you instal an apk and tell the store you're in Europe. Unfortunately the apk is only for the 9100 ie ATT.
EDIT: Just use the apk ysuleman posted below, it works and is easy.
Or you could pull it from the telus roms, they come with a version for our phone.
is there any new word on this? i know our gs2 is only 1 of 5 vairents but it still falls under a gs2.
The Samsung apps works on both of Mr. x's ROM's. I had trouble trying to pull it from there and use them It on other ROM's.

[CM10 DIALER] Need tester(s) for JellyBean dialer (Sprint)

I am still on stock TW but made a quick dialer for CM10 JellyBean (Sprint) and I need someone to test it and tell me how it looks.
Make a backup first just in case then use ES File explorer or similar to copy and paste into system/app
This contacts.apk is from cm-10-20120722-UNOFFICIAL-d2spr.zip release, just in case you need to know, but I believe it should work on all cm10 releases.
Changes you should notice are dialer buttons, contact list picture and in-call contact picture. The Dialer should look similar to stock TW, more or less.
Post screenshots.
downloaded, placed in system apps with root explorer, rebooted. No issues

Looks like dungeon hunters 3 i used to get those when i had that installed. It also could be clouds and sheep but then again i could be wrong. Looks defo like a Gameloft game or a glue game.
Thanks, I dont have either of those installed, but will look for something close to those.
The most recent app that i installed was the purchased version of Tapatalk, but I doubt that it would be the culprit.

You shall look for air-push opt-out app, it does it PERMANENTLY, so you'd be protected in the future as well

Certain addresses refuse to load?

I've had it happen with a few select websites, but it became a lot more apparent when I had an app fail as well.
I've cleared/wiped everything that I could think of, turned off preloading, etc

A lot of the ROM's advertise "no ads" in their descriptions.
I looked at the hosts file on my phone that came with FreeGS, and indeed, games.espn.go.com is blocked.
Take a look at yours... Its in the system/etc folder. If its blocked in yours, use a simple text editor to remove that line from the hosts file and then reboot.
You will need to be rooted in order to make changes to the hosts file, I believe, but if you re on a ROM, you are already rooted.

Very handy, hopes Google finishes in a future 4.3 update and put it on app management screen.
It's handy, AOKP had it in the settings.

yes, and you can try "App Ops Launcher" on play store to launch the "App ops" on android 4.3, it is just only 7kb.
It's a good start but I would like to see more granularity in the permissions. For example, for some apps I would love to be able to block GPS while still allowing coarse location gathering.
Very Interesting, but 4.3 still has room to improve in terms of stability. But I am sure that it's definitely better than 4.2
