ARHD or wait for AOKP? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Should I wait for AOKP build 41 or is Android Revolution HD a really good jelly bean rom?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Wellllll I am waiting for AOKP but in the meantime I am running revolution because I just couldn't flipping wait and apart from all the awesome tweaks that AOKP has jellybean is amazing! So just flash it already bro

Sorry for the cross-board post...
But since AOKP is Rootz exclusive now I don't feel comfortable making a thread over here without their permission.

I love it and am using it as a daily driver.
[Probably not really recommended, I'm sure...but it's been great on my end]

Neither, flash the Franco rom! It's amazing! Super fast, stable, and great support

CM10

Why not try both and see what you like? AOKP P4 is in early stages and only has some of the goodies we've all come to love from AOKP. Android Rev is still good, but I can't stop using AOKP P4 as my daily driver :good:

ROM? Android Revolution HD or Open Kang # 26

As I am in the process of getting my Nexus Rooted, I can't really decide which ROM to go with. I wan't fast and stable. Im leaning more towards Rev HD but I like the customization and theming options in Open Kang #26.
Which rom are you using and why?
Thanks.
AOKP because it got swagger

ARHD because it's stable.
i use ARHD with james bond kernel, it's been 2 months now and still no crash.

Darkside evolution v8. As much as cm9, cm10 and aokp are much moar awesome-r than touchwiz, none of them give me at least half the battery life that darkside evo does. In the end, I'd rather have my phone make it through the entire day with normal use than half the day with moderate use.

I've been on the rookie skyrocket jb ROM for about a week and a half now. Other than the nightly boot loop its solid for me.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Used skyrocket jb one for a week. Was a good rom. It had graphics driver issue which caused youtube freezes and it had no video recording as well. Gave a shot to jedi mind trick ics, it's definitely a dd.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
My daily is CM9 stable.
And my nightly seems to be CM10 Alpha.
I tried Evo and didn't seem to get the same battery life as the Darkside Telus build, which is a little strange. Then again I do have the Telus version of the phone... starting to think there are differences. Might explain why some people get a working camera with CM10 and some don't. Then again there may not be any correlation whatsoever and I just have bad luck. Leaning towards the latter...
+1 For CM9 Stable, and it'll stay that way til CMX or AOKP is stable enough for my liking.

Jedi Mind Trick V3.5. Very impressive rom, but still waiting for CMX to be more stable to use as my DD.

Yes. Actually I haven't used any of the others lol but I've used all the other ROMs on several other devices and I've always been a fan of cna. Seems to be a great mix between aosp and cm10 without the unnecessary swagger

codename android great rom , plenty of options smooth and good battery life ... would have voted but not listed
Eclipse Rom by Nitroglycerine should be on the list, but either way, I'd vote for it. Not only looks great (black which saves some battery by not lighting up everything) but it has a ton of working features, unlike nearly every other ROM I read about in here. I can't think of any non-working functionality in this ROM.
You can get it here on XDA, (and that other forum), or eclipserom.com -
Need to include cna on the list

Do we really need this thread? There is never a "best" Rom. Everyone has different tastes. Different strokes for different folks. Try them all and make up your own mind.
Hate seeing threads that say one devs work is better than another's. They all work hard at sharing their work...for free.

There are too many ROM's missing from the poll for this to be of any help to anyone.

On the Darkside Rom

I haven't posted in a while but my phone is still solid on 3.8 Darkside. Ive used nothing but Darkside since he started development. What happened to the dev? It feels strange using an awesome rom that isnt even in the dev section anymore.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
TDJ moved on. Remember our valued devs are volunteers and hobbyists, and it's to be expected that they will come and go.
But there is an awesome group of devs active on the T989 today, and many excellent ROMS to select from.
I'd recommend that you nandroid your trusty Darkside, then try a clean install of JB. Flash your way through a series of CM, AOKP, and various kangs.
I will be extremely surprised if you don't find a new favorite. The aesthetics, responsiveness and features of the ROMs out today far exceed where we were even back in the summer.
Nandroid is your friend. Go play.

You can actually search sourceforge.net for thederekjay to find his last build.
I had to Odin back to stock after a nameless recovery screwed my phone up for the second time (nothing I flashed would work right). I remembered how much I liked Darkside Evolution and decided to search for it and try it again. It has to be the most stable custom ROM to date. It obviously doesn't have the bells and whistles that the others do, but everything just works. It also looks sweet if you slap Touch0Color and TouchWiz UX on top of it (both are still in the apps and themes section).

Darkside Evolution v8 is still my go to touchwiz ROM. Love it. Can't stand the crop of TW ROMs we have now. No offense to anyone.

V6 that *****.
Sent from T989 AOKP MS1 (KK nightly) V6'd
I just started using it after all the crappy battery and various problems from some of the JB Roms. Ive used them all I think. Slim beans awesome as far as battery goes and liquid smooth but each still have graphical glitches. 3.8 is the way to go its by far the most reliable TW Rom we got with bulletproof a close second IMO.
I just recently committed to making the switch. I was on Darkside v. 8. I am now using Infamous Resurrection Gangnam Style. Great Touchwiz basedRom. Good battery life. No lags. And it's still active so lots of support etc for this rom.

[Poll] [Toro] What ROM are you running as your daily driver?

Like the title says, this isn't about what's "best". It's just to try to get an idea of metrics. As far as I know there's no one tracking how popular any given ROM is, and this won't go a long way to help, but I'm curious.
Please don't check "Yes this is a question" for polls in General. Qs go in Q&A. Edited title.
Thanks
FNM
Huh, I'm really surprised there aren't more CyanogenMod users coming through.
I'm running slimbean 3.1 as my daily driver. Its android 4.1.2, but its smooth and everything works! The battery life is excellent as well!

From what I've seen CM is more widely used on manufacture skinned devices. Nexus users don't need CM as much as rest of the android world.

I'm running EOS4 nightlies, and EOS3 nightlies before that with very few problems. Check it out, it's a pretty sweet ROM.

I'm using pure AOSP with Trinity Kernel. I can say It's awesome.
It seems like all of the 4.2.1 ROMs are still experiencing issues. Is that even true of vanilla AOSP?
right now liquidsmooth with air kernel, but that's bound to change as i can't leave my phone the way it is anymore.
