First:
remove GPS fix and another gps helpers.
Second:
install AGPS patch (I've used 3.1 no SSL) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252011
Third:
after you've flashed go to a nice place outside and test it ... (open sky )
Notes:
I only use Satellite position so getting position using wi-fi and other data providers are disabled.
Be sure to enable internal GPS in your positioning (Location services->GPS source-> internal GPS.
Hope it helps... as it solved my gps problems.

I had similar problems and found that my GPS sensor was not working correctly. I was able to fix it my opening the GPS antenna cover behind the flash lights and cleaning the copper contact plates.
Now it is working like a charm.
But be careful! You can easily break the contacts...

[Q] My HTC Desire can't detect any satellite for GPS...

My HTC Desire cannot detect any satellite for GPS, could this be a damage in the software or the hardware?...
I've change the rom version and radio but still doesn't make any difference. What are the chances that the hardware is dead?...
I've did Factory Reset for many times...
is it expensive the replace it?...roughly how much it cost?....
is there any GPS driver or some files that might be missing while I updated the rom myself??
I never tested the GPS function when it is newly bought. I tested it only after I updated the Android version from 2.1 to 2.2.
For your info, I've used Papago X5, GPS test, and many other apps to search for satellite but all fail, even after being outdoors for a long time....any help here?....HTC is gonna charge me a bomb for repairing it
Did u check ur gps outside in open sky??? bcos GPS doesnt work under roof!!
I've been outdoor with clear skys for a long time....still nothing... my fren's Galaxy S detects the satellite in just a few seconds....need help please..
Same problem here. Did you managed to solve the problem ?
same issue here, is it a hardware problem?
Try to turn on mobile data it's helped me find so much faster.
try a different ROM.. I remember google maps wasn't able to find me on MIUI, but when I switched to cyanogen it was fine.
Also you can download an app called Faster Fix from the market, it helps locate gps satellites

I've tried different roms (Aurax, CM7, LeeDroid, ...), different Android version (2.2, 2.3) and different radios but it still doesn't work. I've also check "Faster fix", "GPS Status" applications, ... My first impression is a hardware issue but I'd like to be sure. Thanks to everyone for your answer.

[Q] GPS fix problem in Cyanogen 7.1

Hello seems that a lot of people have this problem in 7.1 release. I read a lot about how to fix it but nothing works on my DHD, Should I downgrade to the previous stable release of Cyanogen? Can someone recommend a rom that is good out of the box? Thanks
The GPS problem usually happens when the ROM is not properly flashed or flashed without Wiping data properly, You can use FasterFix and GPS status aps from market to test and see if you get any GPS signal.
I'm using RCmiX 4.0 Gingerbread 2.35 with sense 3.5, the GPS lock works good in this, previously I was using ARHD 6.3.1 This rom was locking GPS under 5 seconds for me [ When I was outside and there was a clear sky view ].
If you are going for any of these two above ROM make sure you Wipe data properly / Factory Data Reset.
Maybe the antenna contacts are oxidized (another very common DHD issue).

I never managed to get a good gps signal on cm 7, or a good (non-grainy) camera. I use it daily when running, keeping track by cardiotrainer. Tried everything i could find. Switched to ARHD; problem solved. I hope it will be fixed some time, i liked cm.
Yeah the gps is a problem with cm7. You can usually use faster fix, gps status and gps fix to get a lock, but then if you are using it for navigation or similar gps tracking apps, the lock is lost after a few minutes.
The solution is to quickly switch the gps on and off whilst in the application that requires the lock and after having gained a lock, and then it should stay locked for the duration of your journey or whatever you are using it for.

[Q] No gps with Android revolution hd rom

Hello there,
As the registration video pointed out to me that i'm a noob i have noob question.
Im running Android Revolution HD 6.3.3 By mike1986
with these radio thingies.
12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
But my gps isn't getting a fix. What is wrong with my phone settings?
Hope to hear from you.
Greetings
Youri
Hello.. Maybe try flashing the AGPS patch from this thread.
Here's the direct link... flash that through recovery and see if it works
And if you are having crappy GPS accuracy once you lock, your best bet is just to find some way to get a solid connection from the GPS antenna to the motherboard.
Question is if you've had problems with gps fix since flashing Mike's rom or has it happened after a while.
Next question is what navi software do you use.
I tried two navi programs: Google's and beta version of Automapa (although beta is closed for now)
GPS always gets fix after couple of seconds. With Automapa it is also very accurate. Google is worse than Automapa but still quite good.
Both programs were running on ARHD 6.3.1
Anyway I'd try reflashing with full wipe again. Or maybe try newer (or older) version of ARHD?
Regards
Rafal
There are several possibilities:
1) environmental - try again outside, in plenty of open space. Try with & without your case, if you're using one.
2) config: download FasterFix from the market and choose your preferred server (there is a preconfigured list, but you can also type your own in: Spain is es.pool.ntp.org France is fr.ntp.pool.org etc) also check out GPS Test, also from the market, and you will see exactly how many satellites are in view etc.
3) hardware - bad connection. If you can't get a result from 1 or 2, well maybe there is a bad connection (the GPS antenna is around the flash). This is unlikely, I'd say.
A reboot may help to clear the cache - as suggested above, a superwipe is the way to clean before flashing a new ROM. You can also clear caches from Recovery.
First do some testing before install any patches.
Go out under clear sky and after activate gps sattelites from settings, download and run from market the Gps Test apk.
Write us the results here. How many satellites and after how much time did you get.
I`maar also noob without same issue. Same rom and same radio.
Before flashing, gps worked flawless, after flashing no more fix.
Even the quality of the signal for calling is nota wat it was.
Tried 3 navigation apps, open area,... nothing works.
I really Need the gps, so i`m thinking of unrooting if there isn't aan sollution.
Or could this be solved by flashing an stock rom ? Any tips or hints are welcome
Thanks in advance!
Personally i reccommend this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318892
it seems a bit risky, but it shouldnt be a problem opening the flash case. Im not into soldering, and im afraid of burn motherboard,so i just pulled up the golden springs a bit, cleaned with alchool, an voilĂ ! fix in < 10 seconds with < 20 meters precision.
hope it helps.
It seems to me that if gps worked stock, the hardware is ok
Yeah try the Rom in my signature its awsome

I had problem with my GPS too. It's doesent a rom or radio problem. In other thread it's show how to hardware hack the GPS under flash cover of our dhd. I won't hardware hack so gently push down the flash cover. Go out and GPS status and gmaps fix in less then 10 sec.
Inviato dal mio Desire HD con Tapatalk 2
i'm noob with rooting phones, but not with pc's or other electric equipment.
If i say gps worked FLAWLESS on my stock DHD, how can my antenna suddenly be defected after flashing a rom?
I even went to open field with NOTHING in a 500m radius
it has to be something software....
i'll try to flash other rom like someone suggested...
already thanks for the replies!
check if GPS is broken?

I have the same problem! My GPS is running but it cannot find any sattelite!
Is ther any method to check the GPS if there is a hardware problem or a software problem?
Maybe there is a logging like "logcat" for GPS which i can check?
I'd recommend trying the app Faster Fix. You select your region, and it sets the correct GPS configuration data. If that's the issue, that app will solve it.
Also worth trying the app AGPS Inject, which downloads GPS assist data when opening gps apps like gmaps.
Also recently removed the letters "supl" from the APN type in the data access point settings. Resulted in a faster fix.

Thank you Swell6 for your tips, but nothing helped!
I think it's an hardwareproblem.
Does someone know where in the phone the GPS Module is sitting?
With the dhd there's a known hardware issue with the GPS antenna, which is part of the black plastic led cover. Over time it can lose contact with the main board, and sometimes just pressing it in can fix it. If it needs more, there's loads of posts on what can be done. Worth a try!

If its the Google gps you are referring to, then it is difficult to get it up and run, instead use another gps like Sygic which is great. with this app you don't need to use data, you only need to download the map of that country you want to and use it as an offline gps, just like a Garmin gps.

I have no problem with Sygic, it connects quite fast to satellites... what ROM are you using?
I had a bit of problem with this.It took almost 3-4 mins to locate my location and was really slow.I didn't like the gps at all but now with htc explorer it's lightning fast.so probably it's a fault of gio...

GPS speed really differs between ROMs. Stock tends to connect pretty slowly. If you are willing to use custom roms, there are some who work significantly better. I'm using Enhanced236 and I love it. Tried to install CM9 RC1 but GPS won't work at all
GPS Status & Toolbox
Try this:
can't post the direct link so search on the google play markt for: GPS Status & Toolbox
This problem is still current on the Gio. I have several friends who got them new recently, shipped with Android 2.3.6. The problem is simply that the GPS, much of the time, cannot connect. Without a data connection it NEVER works (!!!) even out in the open. Gps status shows no satellites; Google maps cannot connect.
One of them rooted hers and is using some scripting hack which periodically erases gps configuration files - this fixes all problems. So the problem seems generally software bound, not hardware. Two years after this device has been released it still seems Samsug didn't care much about fixing it... pretty bad.
Because of the nature of aGPS I'd suggest "GPS Status & Toolbox" AND "GPS Aids" from Play Store. Should cut down cold fix time to a fairly reasonable 20-30s instead of MINUTES.

Yet another uncommon GPS problem

Okay, this seems just another common GPS problem with a DHD. But I find it intriguing.
It happens to me since I bought the phone, second hand.
I've already made the mod to the antena (soldered wire) and use the AGPS Patch and FasterFix to choose the server. Nothing solved it.
So, when the GPS works, it works really fine, no abnormal signal loss, not too much lag.
Note that it only works fine when I turn data ON, so it can download agps info.
There comes a day when I turn data on, go outside, turn Sygic on (or other gps program), and no satellites at all. GPS Status indicates the same.
I can go for more than 15 minutes without gps fix. It can go for longer, but I don't have the patience. I reset the AGPS info with GPS Status and download a fresh one and the problem remains.
If I restart the phone, 99% of the times, it solves the problem.
Now, I found out that a program called Quick Reboot (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Glub3NvZnQuYW5kcm9pZC5RdWlja1JlYm9vdEZyZWUiXQ) avoids me having to restart the phone. Plus, GPS Doctor is quite efficient too.
So, I have to run Quick Reboot, then GPS Doctor, then Sygic or other Nav Program. Not very handy, if you're already driving...
Now, what on earth is this?
Hardware seems fine, because it doesn't fail, for example in a 300 km trip. If it gets a fix, it stays on nicely.
It sounds a software problem, deep in the OS itself.
I'm on Android 2.3.7, CM 7.2, but tested this on various CM based roms, ICS, rooted OEM ROM and it behaves the same.
If anyone can help... or share experiences... Any devs?
Thanks
I dont think it is going to get any better than that. I have the same experience as well with ICS ROMs. However, some ROM's dont do it so often.
i have same issue on default rooted rom wwe3.12.405.1.....
it may be problem with some specific models or all od dhd series
and its very random and happens on trips mostly
agps /wifi/mobile data nothing fixes it
restart fixs issue instantly ...
once after restart gps gets fixed it works perfectly ...
I have this exact same problem, and I'll try your tip for using the Quick Reboot app.
I'd also recommend the app AGPS Injector which enables you to start GPS based apps e.g. navigation etc. 'via' AGPS injector. It automatically downloads AGPS info before starting the navigation app. You can even create homescreen shortcuts for navigator apps which do it all with one click. Perfect!
I'm going to try combining this with a Quick Reboot using Tasker, again so that it does it all with just one click. I'll report back if it works.
Yep, automated steps would be great, like:
auto data on / agps injector / auto data off / run gps program
or even
Run Quick Reboot / quit Quick Reboot / auto data on / agps injector / auto data off / run gps program
:silly:
Just got a total GPS blackout an hour ago, and the combination Quick Reboot + AGPS injector (bought the full version) didn't worked for me, despite 5 or 6 atempts.
Then gave up and just went for a try with Quick Reboot + GPS Doctor and got it working without rebooting. :good:
Sounds like I need to try GPS Doctor. I've had good success with AGPS Injector. For me, I spent ages trying to find an app which gave the same results as using the AGPS reset and download in GPS Test, and that did it. Maybe there's some regional variation.
Do those apps just force a download of the links in the gps.conf file?
Have created setups using Tasker which I'll try tomorrow. Also found the app Fast Reboot which does a similar thing to Quick Reboot, so I'll compare the two.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda app-developers app
Yes, could be a regional variation.
Don't really know what the AGPS info download does.
I've used that Fast Reboot Pro program, but didn't do the trick for me.
