I have the AT&T version after owning my international S2 for a year. My S2 rarely had any issues and crashed applications.
After having the S3, I notice it's not as smooth as my S2. Is anyone else having issues?
- My apps would force close or hang. I mostly use XDA and Tapatalk and I'd say it would have issues maybe 33% of the time.
- The dialer and messaging app lag so much. It seems like eternity when I try to open them or dial out. The camera app is laggy too.
- For the second time, my SD card is corrupted after rebooting. I can't access it and I don't know what to do.
I'm not flaming here. I'm just under the impression this phone was supposed to outperform its predecessor.
Can anyone advise on how to clear these issues? Is it in need of a replacement?

I say take it back and exchange it right away. I haven't experienced any of these issues to speak of, and I'm a power user who's had the device since Tmo launch day. I may have seen an app hang for a moment, I mean it is android and that occasionally happens, but I honestly can't think of anything that really sticks out to me besides YouTube once in a while when I'm opening it. I've had zero lag with the call app opening & no hanging in the dialer. My sd has functioned fine also. There have been reports of other buggy gs3's so I think you have a bad model? Mine is as flawless as I've ever seen any Android phone function, and you should have the same for your money!
Have you tried another SD card? It says it is damaged.
I think your Tapatalk issue is a problem with Tapatalk and not your phone. Does it on mine too -- it acts like a memory leak. It only happens after Tapatalk has been open for a long time. After killing the app and restarting, it behaves fine (for a while, that is).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I agree on warranty return. None of those problems for me.
I get crashes on other apps too. It's not just limited to Tapatalk
I got my phone through Best Buy 28 days ago. I hope an exchange for a new phone is no problem. Hopefully nothing refurbished since it's still fairly new.
Anyone know if I have to return accessories and box too?
I say exchange as well. My last phone was gs2 that I loved, worked perfectly. That's why I went for the gs3. I figured the s2 was so great the s3 must be better; it was/is. Workes perfectly not a single issue with anything. Super long battery life, smooth, fast and loving it.
I like it so much, I keep going back to the stock Rom after trying Rom after Rom like cm10, task, tuchmi, wamlite and others just to name a few.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Hmmm. I'm not having issues with any application crashing other than Tapatalk. If you're seeing it with many apps, I'd definitely consider exchanging it.

I have had the Sprint Epic 4G Touch since launch day and today everything on my screen turned into a deep shade of red for a couple of minutes and I thought it was a dead screen I would have to return to Sprint and then the normal color returned out of nowhere. Does anyone know if this is something I triggered or was this just a glitch? The home button, screen off/on, changing screens did not fix this problem. All functions were working from what I could tell and I could make everything out on the screen and it was bright but everything was a shade of red.
My phone is stock and I have Go Launcher running on it with many Go Widgets. I had about 50% battery from what I remember. I may have had the Words With Friends application running at the time if anything. I have a few emulators and ROMs on my external sdcard that were not running but everything else on my phone is normal.
Thos happened to me also. i am rooted with stock kernal. was weird. i rebooted and hasnt done it since then.

it happened to me once since I got my phone but hasnt since. It reminds me of the red render effect in CM 7. That's the best way to describe it.

Since a screen shot was made
Its probably a bug sammy overlooked
If we blast sammy's twitter about they will be forced to give us that update
Why you ask
Because the other variants of the gs2 hasnt come out yet and if they wait super long to give us these updates chances are less ppl will buy the gs2 for t mobile and att

This is extremely close to how it looked on my screen. I tried recreating it but couldn't. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Like I said everything was functional I just thought the screen took a nose dive on me. I'll blast sammy's twitter also.
I've had the same strange red shade. Thought maybe it was a hardware problem; glad to see it wasn't just me.
I've had another weird screen mode issue - "safe mode." No idea what this meant, but didn't notice any limitations. Just had a little shaded rectangle at the bottom left of the screen no matter what I did. Had to restart the phone to make it go away.
I've also had a warning that I was overheating the battery by flying through Manhattan in Google Earth with 3D rendering turned on. Not a bug - just didn't think it would be possible to pull that off when the phone is in an environment of standard room temperature.
See the attached screenshots.
So I've been looking around at how to increase screen FPS/Sensitivity/Overall responsiveness and came across this app today. I've been using it all day and I can notice considerable increase in screen response. Typing has been much easier and I've made less mistakes and scrolling has never felt easier. I recommend everyone give it a shot and hopefully this could be built into ROMS/Kernels. It says SGS only but many have found it to work on their devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Nob3A0YXBwcy50b3VjaHNjcmVlbmJvb3N0ZXIuY29tIl0.
So what does this app actually do? Does it simply just adjust built-in variables in Android for screen response (like the touch threshold, etc)? Or does it do something else entirely? Or maybe placebo? =P (although I doubt that last one is the case, based on the app reviews)
I don't have a clue how it works. All I know is that the screen should be this sensitive out of the box. I ran 12k in Temple Run after I did this and my highest previous run was 6k.
It certainly seems to work, great spot! ;-D
What settings have you found optimal?
Do you use an own configuration or a pre-installed one?
Don't know if it's a placebo effect, but now the phone feels a snappier
While I don't use this on SGN, I can vouch for it working. Used it on my old Hannspad (gTab) and it worked wonders for the sensitivity on that, so much so the device was unusable without it.
Regards.

The better responsiveness is especially noticable when you use a screen protector.
It just works perfect in my opinion
I'm def gunna try this on my Transformer Prime.
Going to run this on my xoom, that thing has terrible sensitivity
i dont really notice a difference at all. what setting are you using? regardless, i am going to use it on my touchpad and see if that helps with its lack of sensativity.

Is there any risk to using this app at all? There is a reset button to reset it to the default settings, right?

No risks so far. Yes, there's a default settings option. But you also have a check box to set on boot and if you don't check it the settings will go to default on the next reboot.
didn't notice any difference on my galaxy nexus

So long story short at the beginning of this month i called Verizon because i was having major issues with my Nexus and was able to get them to cough up a brand new one instead of refurbished device and was super excited, got the new phone and began having issues right out of the box. At first i thought it had to do with unlocking and rooting but found out soon enough it was something wrong with the device, i lost count on how many times ive gone back to stock and how many factory resets ive done.
Camera app would crash when i was focusing, zooming, turning flash on off & same with video record. I could only record for about 10 seconds (if that) before getting either a black screen or a beautiful force close screen and to top it off sometimes i would have to battery pull in order to even get the camera back up and running for another 10 seconds.
YouTube i couldnt watch more then 40 to 60 seconds of any video before it would completely just freeze except for the audio. I would force close this app and the audio would just keep going and this was no matter if i was on a call or not i could here the audio in the back round.
Other apps on the phone where behaving the same and today i finally was fed up so i made a trip down to the store and got the whole store involved with attempting to figure out what the hell was going on with it, manager said this is the first device since release that he or his employees have seen with this type of issue. What was even more shocking to him was that it was a brand new device and then he hit me with he couldnt give me another new one but a refurbished one that he could order so i decided to leave the store and come home to spend the last 45min on the phone with a VZW tech and finally i got him and his supervisor to budge, another new device should be here tomorrow and hopefully i wont have any issues with but only time will tell. My point of this post is to not only rant of course and get some feedback from members to see if anyone else out there is having or has had any issues like this??
I also thought about waiting for the supposedly 4.0.4 update to drop tomorrow but honestly at this point with how many factory resets ive done and have been running stock no unlock or root for two days i think its honestly something wrong with this damn phone i got rather then something wrong with permissions or anything like that. Anyhow so much for a short story let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.
Well...that just sounds like terrible, horrible luck...
Should have gotten an iPhone perhaps
the one u have should still be under warranty...send it back

You are lucky that you got a new one. I am receiving my fourth refurbished "like new" Galaxy Nexus from Verizon this week. Every single one I get mutes the audio on the other caller's end, and one of these phones also would drop data when it went to sleep.
I get the feeling that people are turning in their Nexus phones because of the dropping audio problem, and then Verizon is sending them right back out because they can't find the problem in their testing. How in the world could I get 4 straight broken Galaxy Nexuses?
I really don't want to have to switch to a Razr...
Should have gotten the refurbed one, atleast that way a human was working on it, to see if it functions right.

I'm most likely going to be getting this phone sometime in the near future and wanted to ask if anyone noticed any niggles or other nonsense that sometimes happens with Samsung Android phones (i.e. roaming notification not caring about no longer displaying the message, GPS issues, etc.)
Just quick reviews, mostly I'm looking for the little things that bug people.
Thanks

+1, had a number of smartphones in the past, this one clearly blows all of my expectations away. The only issue I've had is sporadically losing connectivity to my wifi and I'm not sure if it's something I've loaded or a bug from Samsung/Sprint. My kids have the Evo LTE and Iphone 4S and I wouldn't trade for the world.
The best phone yet IMO, yes the only con I have found is data connectivity every once and awhile. LG8 radio seems better than any other. Been running jellybomb rom, superfast. Fastest phone I've owned so far, and I've had um back to the HTC Hero.

Try moving your router as far away from other electronics. As for the phone...I'm really loving it. With an extended battery( Hyperion 4200mah) in it, I'm getting almost two days off charger with 47% still left as I type this.

Its the best choice, my only gripe is maybe that I wanted quad core to dual boot Ubuntu and do my best to ditch all use of laptop or desktop. ...but ..then again despite all the quads having nicer gpus even the a15 based s4krait kinda disappointed next generation I suppose
This is kinda a crappy year for the fact they are transitioning production processes I'm really hoping the next exynos generation skips a15 all together
But yeah long story short ...it beats everything we have in the US market

It must be your device. I didn't have a single issue as reboot, boot loop etc. Now I've had a few of FCs but with apps that FCed on my other phones too.
LOS was much worse on GSIII for me, I had to turn off and on data to get it back or get 3G instead of 1xRTT quite often. Very little of such LOS issues on my new Note II.
I've had some but updating PRL usually resolved it.
Also it only happened while I was driving (truck driver - all over the country) so I can understand there could be some handoff issues with sprint towers. It never happened yet while I was stationary.
Btw...You paid $400????
I had terrible LOS issues on my GS2, the device was terrible. I haven't seen a single LOS with my Note 2. Every area that I had LOS or data issues with the GS2 is solid on the Note 2. Not a single boot loop, reboot, etc issue at all. Maybe a couple of 3rd party app FCs, but nothing from the stock apps.
Sorry you got a lemon, return it and have it replaced. You are still in the 14 day window.

I kept GSII for exactly 8 hours! The LOS and signal strength were unacceptable. Just plain ridiculous. I couldn't make a call from inside of my house. I could only imagine how it would "perform" if I took it on the road.
