Can Evo 3D CM9 Devil toast Wimax be kanged? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Saw that the 3D now has a CM9 port with working wimax. As far as I know, they use the same wimax chip. I'm a total newb, and probably know know nothing about how this works, but any chance that might breath new life into the possibility of OG Evo with working wimax on CM9/10?

Bump for support.

jmztaylor is already trying to port wimax since toast and the team released the code. But toast said it might not work on MTD devices

From the Evo to the Epic

I guess im going back to my Evo cause the development is a little lacking for these galaxy s phones, at least the captivate finally got CM7

We will have it very soon also, but do what you want. I have an Evo also, and its pretty cool, but too slow for me.. I can't stand waiting 2 minutes for a phone to boot up. lol

Cool story bro... have fun
My evo is currently running cm7 and my epic feels better running syndicate frozen. We may have a few devs but the work they/i do is amazing and there leaps over anything I've seen for the evo so far.
This is just my opinion your welcome to do you. Its just a matter of personal preference.

Yeah its a troll post. Like we care what he's doing. Maybe he should finish up cm7 himself.

Wimax on AOSP Gingerbread

OK question. Basically whenever I install an AOSP Rom on my evo 4g I get a strong signal with wimax for about thirty minutes give or take a few and then it just goes. Where the wimax bar was all green and providing a FAST signal it cuts out reconnects remains all white and the Internet crawls. This occurs with all builds of cm7, savagemod, and evervolv. I love these roms and would like to run them but I'm a reporter for a popular technology site and i need wimax for tethering in the field. I have tried toggling the connection in various ways, Filterproxy, rebooting and reinstalling the roms. What should I do? Is this a known issues? Please assist. My radios and prl are up to date btw.

Also I forgot to note that sense based roms give me awesome wimax.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
This is a known issue across the board with aosp roms on the evo. Cyanogen and team have been working on it and they're aware of the 4G issues. 4G isn't at 100% just yet man, I'd say roll with a sense rom until 4G is ready to rock. This goes for all the roms you listed above.

What did you end up doing to get your 4g working? Glad u got it going though.

Hey k2 this is my second evo the other one is still busted with no rsa keys. Because of the hardware version I cannot use extended fastboot commands so I'm still stuck on that one. This is my working evo. Ty for the note at the top im using cm7 rc 4 right now and that seems to be working a little better.

I think nightly 35 is the first one that has the fixed wimax reconnect bug. I would flash that.
Thanks ill try nightly 35 and see what happens.

Just remember to flash the latest gapps with it if you're coming from your sense rom.
Teamwin finally fixed the reconnect bug in CM7 starting with nightly 35 (currently the only build with the reconnect bug fixed). Obviously it's a recent development. Unfortunately, even in a strong signal area, WiMAX still disconnects occasionally, but at least now it will reconnect automatically, which is a huge benefit.

[Q] MIUI

So does anyone here know if we will be getting MIUI for the epic touch? And if so do you know when we will be getting it? It was my favorite rom for my evo 4g and i would love to see it on this phone. Thanks
It will be ported eventually yes. We need aosp kernels.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
If you flash miui from the gs2 with our kernel it works great except for the phone... Camera works, wifi is easy to get working ect..

We'll get it if or when a developer picks it up. If your anxious maybe pm some of the developers to see if they will pick up the project.... Just a idea.

I believe lithid-cm already started to work on it indirectly. By indirectly I mean they need a working AOSP kernel/build first. So that's what he is working on right now. I believe the kernel is giving them issues.

It would be really nice of Cyanogen would put out the AOSP kernels along with the stock one because he works for Samsung now.

What is the difference between the aosp kernel and the Samsung kernels, why does miui and cm7 need aosp kernels?

Not sure why either but I asked lithid-cm the he said they NEED the AOSP kernel/source to work properly, before porting MIUI.

It will usually boot with touchwiz kernel but most of the time 3g 4g touch screen and calls wont work that is why u need aosp kernel . The drivers need to load toake things work .....we have multiple teams working on it teamhacksung and cyanogen team ..... It will happen patience my little padawan....

I rocked Miui on my OG EVO 4G almost exclusivly.
Having finally jumped ship to a stock phone (I rooted ;-)) there are some concerns with going back to miui:
1) NO 4G!!!
2) On Evo, there was no 720p recording with Video... I'd hope we can take advantage of our 1080p cameras!
3) DATA WAS SLOW
That's it... If those 3 things were fixed I'd be happier than a stuffed pig!!
MIUI PROS:
1) customizable like no other!
2) smooth
3) Clean UI
4) overall fun to use

oringinal GSII roms and themes

I know this is prolly a dumb question but does anybody know if any of the roms, themes, etc from the international GSII work on our epic 4G touch?
No. They need to be ported for our phone.
Sent From My Evo Killer!!!
Basically all the CDMA and Wimax stuff in our ROM's makes them incompatible.
They will most likely work but alot of things will be broken
Remember zedomaxs og root
It was flashing an international kernel

Don't get too excited yet.. we still need someone to develop an aosp kernel for our phone. We dont even have one for gb yet so i think it will be a while. I'm syncing the code now. If I knew how to convert a kernel I would. Lol

Saw this as well. I hope we can get someone to get us an AOSP Kernel. Without it it this doesn't help us.
Yeah, it will probably be a while before we see a beta or alpha rom. It will probably be January or longer before a stable ROM is available.
Better luck on the Nexus S 4G though, or maybe even the Evo phones since they have worker CM and AOSP kernals.
bubby says he has an aosp kernel, but he also said his laptop died

Ohh maybe I'll build it for my nexus s 4g
Does anyone know what converting a kernel to aosp entails? I'll give it a shot for sure. I'm guessing the first step is to unpack our boot.img but I don't know what else has to be done. I wish there was a guide somewhere that tells you how to get your kernel working with aosp
