OK question. Basically whenever I install an AOSP Rom on my evo 4g I get a strong signal with wimax for about thirty minutes give or take a few and then it just goes. Where the wimax bar was all green and providing a FAST signal it cuts out reconnects remains all white and the Internet crawls. This occurs with all builds of cm7, savagemod, and evervolv. I love these roms and would like to run them but I'm a reporter for a popular technology site and i need wimax for tethering in the field. I have tried toggling the connection in various ways, Filterproxy, rebooting and reinstalling the roms. What should I do? Is this a known issues? Please assist. My radios and prl are up to date btw.

Also I forgot to note that sense based roms give me awesome wimax.

This is a known issue across the board with aosp roms on the evo. Cyanogen and team have been working on it and they're aware of the 4G issues. 4G isn't at 100% just yet man, I'd say roll with a sense rom until 4G is ready to rock. This goes for all the roms you listed above.

Hey k2 this is my second evo the other one is still busted with no rsa keys. Because of the hardware version I cannot use extended fastboot commands so I'm still stuck on that one. This is my working evo. Ty for the note at the top im using cm7 rc 4 right now and that seems to be working a little better.

I think nightly 35 is the first one that has the fixed wimax reconnect bug. I would flash that.
Thanks ill try nightly 35 and see what happens.

Just remember to flash the latest gapps with it if you're coming from your sense rom.
Teamwin finally fixed the reconnect bug in CM7 starting with nightly 35 (currently the only build with the reconnect bug fixed). Obviously it's a recent development. Unfortunately, even in a strong signal area, WiMAX still disconnects occasionally, but at least now it will reconnect automatically, which is a huge benefit.

Hey, i'm using Warm-Z Nightly 4-13, on radio 11.19.
I see my signal tend to disappear then reappear every so often. During that time, i'm not able to do anything that involves the radio like data or sms or phone calls.
Is it because of the actual radio? Should I downgrade to 07.28 again?
That Sounds to me as if its radio related. Did you flash the radio when you put on the new nightly? Or have you been using that radio for a while?

I've been using this radio for about a month or two now.
Damn auto correct......Hmmm.....well in that case this is kind of odd. Maybe the 4/13 nightly build had a glitch with that radio. I'd try either restoring your old nightly or just flashing a different nightly. If you still seem to have problems then I would try a new radio. But if this radio just recently started glitching with your new nightly I would definitely say just change to a different nightly and see if it helps

It's been with all my ROMs lol. I just happened to be using Warm-Z right now. I'm on 4-14 right now and it's still doing it. I'm about to flash back to 07.28.. i just don't know if that's safe.
I'm actually on 07.28. As well as warm z twopointtwo 4/7 nightly with the same kernel. You'll be fine.....flash the new radio just make sure you know what you're doing before you start

Well, here goes. If anything. I got Best Buy on my side.
BTW, Warm-Z 4-14 has a new kernel. Ziggy's 04-13 kernel. In case you update.

It's a different version of it. The current one that's in the nightly is a beta and well Ziggy took off all links if the kernel so incubus was lucky to have it before it got deleted. Upgrade to 4-14 its really fast.

Nope. I don't pay attention to that stuff. I usually try to stay away from too many kernel mods.
But the new kernel its running doesn't bump charge at all, so you should like it.

And forgive me one more time bump charge is just the technical term for the ten percent drop then change process the phone goes through correct?

Plus any news on that radio flash for ya? And when I go to flash this new nightly will I have to do a full wipe since it flashes kernel too? Cause I really don't like having to restore my apps and data with titanium

Sorry for the late reply, I have school and work.
But yeah, I updated to the leaked EVO 04.08 and the signal increased by -5 and i don't see the random disappearing anymore. When you flash the nightly, only wipe CACHE and DALVIK-CACHE. Do NOT wipe DATA unless you plan to start over.
Cool lemme know if you got more probs and ill do the same!

Just upgraded to CM 7.0.3.1 and was having the same problem with 7.0.2.1
If I have 4g/Wimax turned on for a while my phone freezes and hard reboots on it's own.
wiped all Dalvik and chach partitions, ran fix permissions
Tried a full wipe and fresh install of 7.3.0.1 and same issue. Just wanted to confirm if I was the only one seeing this issue.
Check WIMAX Keys and all is well

you know that is usually your phone getting to hot and shutting off as a failsafe, did you notice if it was hot? 4g does that to some phones specially with custom kernels, i would try a different kernel, hope it helps

So does anyone here know if we will be getting MIUI for the epic touch? And if so do you know when we will be getting it? It was my favorite rom for my evo 4g and i would love to see it on this phone. Thanks

I believe lithid-cm already started to work on it indirectly. By indirectly I mean they need a working AOSP kernel/build first. So that's what he is working on right now. I believe the kernel is giving them issues.

I rocked Miui on my OG EVO 4G almost exclusivly.
Having finally jumped ship to a stock phone (I rooted ;-)) there are some concerns with going back to miui:
1) NO 4G!!!
2) On Evo, there was no 720p recording with Video... I'd hope we can take advantage of our 1080p cameras!
3) DATA WAS SLOW
That's it... If those 3 things were fixed I'd be happier than a stuffed pig!!
MIUI PROS:
1) customizable like no other!
2) smooth
3) Clean UI
4) overall fun to use
GPS force closes shortly after setting a destination, and maps is near useless without it.
Anybody else have this pproblem? I have the same issue on 2 Epics, mine and my girlfriend's.
Many thanks.

Going to be working on the update for Simply AOSP 4.x, and the gps/nav fix is hopefully (barring any unforeseen issues) going to be included.
There's already a workaround (turn volume off on GPS) and a fix (push a few files, located in the thread in dev) in place.
But yes, this is supposed to be fixed in the next relelase which will hopefully come along any day now.

Meh, I'll pass on the SRF. Regardless of the GPS issues, I absolutely love AOSP roms. It was one of the first I flashed after entering the realm of Android, and it's the current one I'm running on mine & my girlfriend's Epics.
I'll just stick with Hotspotting my GT10.1 and using the GPS on there, for now. The map looks WAY better on that huge screen, anyways.
Thanks for the input though.
In case you haven't seen it yet, we posted the 4.01 update for Simply AOSP, with 4g hotspot fix and the gps/nav fix.
I've been looking for the answer to this question, but I can't seem to find it.
Does anyone know the reason WHY there are slower data speeds on non-stock based ROMs?
Laugh at me if it's a stupid question, but I'd still like to know...
Thanks!!!

Actually, I'd like an answer to this. Even though I've been reading the CM10 thread from the beginning, I've missed some things.
I'm glad the OP asked this in the Q&A forum instead of clogging the original thread. Thanks for being a **** to him, though.

Even tho I been following alone with cm10 development and what not, no one has give us a straight answer, my best bet would be the reason is that cm10 is only working on hspa, and those that are on a 42mbps don't get their speeds like on TW, it only makes me thing that because the galaxy nexus does the same and is build from Google like that, when you run cm10 you only see H but when you run TW customs run and have H instead 4G, you see H+ while using it,I'm not sure if this is correct but that would be my best bet

I have no idea we will have to wait for someone wiser to explain if that's the reason or not, Tmobile has hspa, hspa 21mbps and hspa+ 42mbps, I think cm10 works with 21mbps but not 42mbps, I haven't seen anyone go over 20mbps, I have gotten up to 14mbps tho, on stock I have an speed test for 26mbps
