Since i´ve sorted out some standart apk´s and odex-files with a Rootmanager out of my system yesterday, i´m pretty confident with the Firmware right now.
But there is one thing missing right now, the Samsung Taskmanager Widget. Would somebody be so kind and upload it for me?
That would be great!
Best regards,
Thomas
Come on guys
Just one .apk and .odex file, anybody?

If you are using CWM (Clockwork Recovery Mod), you dont need to rename anything at all.
If however, you are using either or recovery 2e or 3 (Stock Recovery), you will need to keep the file as update.zip. No exceptions to the file name using stock recovery.
Do I select "Install Rom from sd card" in cwm once downloaded?
I tried to install that .zip with clockworkmod but it got stuck at the installing and I had to take out the battery to return to my rom..

Can I use it on Tmobile Vibrant Rooted and running Axura 2.2.5.7?
hi ppl, i come here for help because even after reading lots of how-to's i still cant do this, so the thing is, i used odin to flash to a stock rom, and so far so good, the rom had the extension .md5, used that one package, fine.
then i saw a rom called "bionic cow" and from what i could gather, i have to flash thru recovery, because it is a zip, ok chose it from sd card, zip file and all, and then, bam:
"E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(no space left on the device)
installation aborted."
one thing worth mentioning, the zip isnt called package, the card is 16gb, and it has like 14 free, internal mem has around 800 mb free.
what can i try now? yea i did wipe the internal mem thru recovery menus.
This occurs because you are trying to flash it with the stock recovery which as you have found will not work. You must use a custom recovery see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446593
thank you very much, i tried to flash the recovery before with odin, but it seems i wasnt waiting enough time.
It worked and i flashed with OKV4_Final rom.
Another question: what to do when the rom file is in the .7z extension? i extracted it and repacked with zip extension, but it doesnt seem to apear in recovery menu.
EDIT: forget about it, all is good, i was looking in wrong dir.
Thanks
Help!
Please help me.
I also have a problem flashing the same ROM. I have flashed CWM and put the package in .zip file in the SD card (I rename it to Bionic_cow.zip) and install it on CWM, but I get an error saying "Installation Aborted" with an Android with X Sign (?) on the background of the recovery. Can somebody identify what is wrong?
You can't just rename it to zip you have to use 7zip first to combine the two parts

I use a Mac, but either way I didn't rename it to zip. I extracted the original file and compressed it again as a .zip file, but since the file's name is too complicated, I renamed it. Speaking of this, maybe renaming it causes this error?

Create a new folder...place part.1 n part.2 in the same folder.
Extract part.1....part.2 will self merge into one folder.
Browse into that folder and highlight all items n create .zip.
You can name it anything as long as it has. zip

Thank you very much, I have the ROM running on my phone now.
But there's a stupid question though:
I notice that whenever I lock my phone, it has this animation (bug?) like an old television turned off. Is this part of the ROM?

That would be normal, CWG has been using that animation since before his Bionic ROM..
Besides, to me it look way much cooler than the stock animation when u lock ur phone..

Oh okay, thank you for the info. I love it now that I know it's a custom animation. I first thought that it was a bug or something went wrong so I was shocked for a while.

Then how can i Install that back up when in need because Clock work mod does not restore that folder....
It does. You backup and restore from cwm, don't modify/open/anything the folder.
Bazinga
In cwm hit system restore and select the folder that is your system back up, don't change the backed up file and do not try to zip it and do not try to rename it because it will screw up the md5

Is there any way to unflash zip files? I flashed some mods for my toggle bar, and I think its killing my battery. I was just wondering if there was any way to get rid of them? Thanks

The best way I know of to "unflash" a package is to:
1. Find the files that were flashed with the zip.
2. Extract those stock files from your ROM.zip.
3. Push them over and set permissions with a root explorer. (I.e. ROM Toolbox)
Reflash your rom only wiping cache and dalvik this will restore rom and leave your user data and apps intact

The best way for me is to just keep regular backups of your working setup that you can restore back to.
