Perhaps I had a bad unit but this charger model was the first one I every had that stopped working for me. The usb connector just loosened up and I could not get it to make contact in any of my devices after that. That might be why its $5.

These are low quality OEM adapters. I purchased 5 of them a year ago when they were on sale w/Amazon credit. Of the 5, only 2 are still working. Like what the previous poster, the head will start to loosen and short out. One of the cables shorted out my car's fuse which cost me $2 to replace.

Anyone know how to get my hands on a second HTC-brand AC Adapter for the EVO that plugs into N/A wall outlet? (MODEL TC U250)
Would like to know this as well since it works reliably and is high power.
I like the HTC branded one too for it's power and size but here is a really good travel charger to consider.
http://shop.sprint.com/NASApp/onlin...ID=PGU3838R_C&topPageNumber=0&subPageNumber=0
It has a battery built in so it can also function as a backup battery when you're traveling and need a quick charge. With a 25% off for being a premier customer it's $29.99.

I'm pretty sure I saw some on Amazon
I found a kit for the iPod and iPhone that provides a 5V/1A car and home charger that allows the device to work properly (no wonkiness with the screen). They're both USB plugs and then you plug in a microUSB cable that you've provided (it comes with an iPod cord). The phone doesn't unfortunately recognize them as anything but USB BUT they are higher current so they should charge faster than the typical devices.
It's made by Philips and says "Fast charging at home & in the car" on the front. The part number is DLM2264/17.
This is the same thing on Philips' website (though on this link it's branded DLO and the one I bought is not).
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DLM2264D/17&scy=us&slg=en
I believe it was $35. I found it at Staples.
i was looking for one too and found this seller on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HTC-Desire-O...Accessories&hash=item255c9d25ac#ht_2798wt_733
they are OEM HTC models and dirt cheap (US $9 inc. shipping). just placed an order!
Enjoy waiting on that ac adapter for a month.
I've gotten two from Florida, took three days:

I bought this one, got it within 3 days. I am thinking about buying another one just to have.
Does anyone know where I can buy a mini USB to Micro USB adapter for my car charger? I don't want to have to buy another car charger.
i bought a few of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N8JJ04/ref=oss_product
they're pretty great
i chose them over a smaller rigid converter, because these are less likely to break your usb connectors
Check Monoprice.com
I went looking for low-cost adapters while waiting for my phone to ship, and there just didn't seem to be any that were cost-effective.
I wound up buying a brand new car charger for $6 on amazon and a handful of new USB to micro USB cables for less than $2 each on monoprice.
I can't see the economy in spending $5 to make my $4 mini-usb charger compatible with my phone, when a new charger is just $5 anyway. I really hope that monoprice starts selling some ridiculously cheap adapters in the near future.
Thank you very much!
Exactly what I was looking for. Now I need to come up with $25 worth of stuff to get the free shipping.
you can also get them at radio shack or bestbuy.. except at best by you have to buy it with a short cable as well cause that the only way they sell it, at radio shack you can by it by itself
I called Radio Shack, $12.95, ouch and no thank you. I can buy a whole charger for that price at WalMart.
Petronic's point is well taken. Gonna follow the same route too.
Thank you for all of the replies!

dealextreme.com is real popular in the GPS hacking world. I have never had any issues. Google them and I think you will find they are well used and received.

Dealextreme got some great price. But shipping take about a few week because of international shipping from china. And customer service is bad. I purchase many thing there. For the price you will pay for a item there is a you how you say, "you get what you pay". Ebay us buyer is the best choice for faster shipping and little pricer item for HTC Evo.

I picked a couple adapters. I wanted to use one on a charger and one on a data cable. But when I plug them in, the phone thinks it has been docked and I can't use it as a data cable. Will the one linked above work on a data cable?
http://www.meritline.com/mini-usb-micro-adapter---p-47016.aspx $2.09 shipped.
dealextreme.com is legit. I ordered from there two times.
If you want to have some real fun order there cell phone signal blocker. It works awesome! There is nothing more fun that being in a car with someone talking on their cell phone and a second later they are having their call dropped. F'n hillarious!
So I want a fast charging car charger that is also a wall charger. I have read some threads on here stating the following:
alphadog00 said:
Unless the charger or the cable has the data lines shorted, the phone will only charge at USB rate (~500mA). Even if you have a 1A car charger, the best you will get is USB speed UNLESS you connect the data lines on the cable.

So how do get a cable that has the data lines shorted or what charger should I buy? Can I short the lines myself, I have a nice welding setup? I can get a $5 charger at walmart that does 500mah and has a cable (not to mention convenience).
If I can get faster charging somehow I wouldn't mind paying a little extra. This 1 amp per port, 2 port charger might be worth the trouble: http://www.gazaro.com/platinum-series-dual-port-wall-and-vehicle-charger-31106001bb
Finally I found a 2 amp incase single port charger at Best Buy for $40 but if our phone wont use the 2amps I don't want to waste the money as this one would not include the cable. http://www.jr.com/incase/pe/ICE_EC20035/
edit: found just the car charger 2 amp for $22 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/Incase-2-amp-Charger-iPad-iPhone/dp/B003IWJNJG
or ebay $7 shipped small 2amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPad-Mini...Accessories&hash=item45fa88cb21#ht_2044wt_952
What's everyone's opinions on the matter?
It looks like I just need to short the middle two pins D+ and D- but what is the best way to do this? On the cable itself or the car charger?
Also will I benefit from the 2 amp charger over the 1 amp?
edit: did some more reading motorola car chargers seem to be wired properly out of the box: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...eless&tag=5336653508-20&qid=1280759739&sr=8-5

I might buy it just because it is so cheap. I'm in the market for a car charger and was going to buy the seidio one that claims 1000mA, but since this is so cheap and boats 950mA, I think I'll go ahead and grab it.
What does everyone else think?
I was lucky enough to snag the actual Verizon one for $15. They were running 25% off and my employer bonus kicked in for another 15%.
I got a free charger from Verizon when I bought my droid and it works fine with this phone.
So far the Motorola fast charger from Amazon has worked flawlessly!

I recently bought one of these chargers on ebay from tuttoit (12V 1.5A 18W AC HOME Charger Adapter for MOTOROLA XOOM 4G LTE 3G Wi-Fi - can't post link due to xda restrictions). The charger works OK (charges quite quickly in fact) but I've found my xoom cannot be used while this charger is plugged in! The screen become unusable and therefore I have to wait until I have finished charging before I can use my xoom again. I think it may be to do with the charger not earthing properly.
Also the black box on the charger gets very hot.
Just posting this info to help anyone thinking of buying this charger.
Further to my previous post: DO NOT BUY A CHARGER FROM TUTTOIT ON EBAY.
Mine died after a few weeks of use. They are cheap rubbish.
(That'll teach me to buy cheap off eBay )
This stinks that you experienced this...but for the most part...its pretty common these days.
I try to use OEM products whenever possible and pay a little extra. I had a bad experience with a non OEM laptop charger years ago...and it friend my motherboard and power supply unit on my Thinkpad - thankfully I was able to find a used MoBo and install myself for 35 bucks.

Good advice.
I took the broken one apart and the circuit board inside had been fried.
Yesterday I looked for a Motorola charger and couldn't find one, even on the Motorola website!
Ended up buying another one from Hong Kong but I think the quality is a bit better (fingers crossed).
What about Amazon?
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Trav...8&qid=1344675498&sr=8-1&keywords=xoom+charger
Didn't think of Amazon and the price is about what I paid on eBay! D'oh.
Might buy one of theirs as well.
Thanx.
DO NOT BUY A CHEAP CHARGER FROM xiaoqinzhang2009 ON EBAY! Seller now known as micro-estore.
I did it again!
This second charger does the same as the first; you can't use the touchscreen while it is charging and it gets very hot.
I doubt these are made to Australian manufacturing standards.
I'm following tincbtrar's advice and going OEM from now on.
I'm looking to find the European plug for the Galaxy Note 10.1 charger to replace the US one when I'm traveling.
Can anyone help me locate it or find the part number for it, please?

Is that OEM, original Samsung?
Also, I'm always wary about purchasing things from Hong Kong or China. Would prefer Europe. Thanks!
What's strange is, the GT-N8013 plug (excluding the cable) comes in two sections: the prong and the charging head. You would think the purpose of this is to interchange various prongs into the same charging head when traveling. But it seems that these interchangeable prongs that fit this charging head are difficult to find! I'm looking for a European one myself, with no luck. Why buy a whole new plug when you can just change the prong? It defeats the purpose of the interchangeable and portable design.

You can buy that plug from Ebay as noted above and only use the prong with the stock charging head(or visa versa) but who's to say it will fit? I don't want to spend extra $ and wait two weeks for delivery to find out it won't fit or work.
The prong interface/connection to the charging head seems proprietary, or almost proprietary.
I can tell you that it will definitely fit - I use mine this way

Well, I ordered one of these and just as suspected, they are NOT BRAND NEW. That's why I don't like buying stuff from China. You have to wait 2 weeks for disappointment. You think they're new? Look at them more closely. Garbage. They repackage these from the bottom so the seal is not broke.
Thanks for the update!
I contacted Samsung about getting just the plug as a replacement part, and I must say they weren't very helpful, saying that I'd have to just buy a new charger. For the moment I'm just using a simple plug adapter which is doing the trick, but I hate the extra bulk. Ugh! First-world problems!

Yes, I hear ya. You can order that one from Ebay. They are the correct type and Euro prongs will fit your Samsung plug but they are not new. These are repackaged with scratches, marks, scuffs, nasty and they have THE NERVE to re-apply the protective clear plastic film back on the pieces! And these sellers on Ebay are selling them as NEW!. Granted, it is only $8 but everything is scratched and the supplied cable doesn't fit properly into the 30-pin jack. So you're paying 8 dollars for a European plug. I never even tested it because I'm not in Europe yet. The prongs could be messed up too!
Samsung's response and marketing is just ridiculous in this respect. WHY make a two section plug when you can't swap the prongs out when traveling. Defeats the whole purpose of it's design. Defeats the whole purpose of portability WHICH THIS TABLET IS ALL ABOUT. It perturbs me.
I am looking for the same thing. We purchased 2 note 10.1 tablets in Australia and live in Italy. I have been looking for a travel kit, but the only one I have seen is in Hong Kong. I will probably just buy a new European adapter, and one for the US if we still have them when we go back.
Generally when we travel I take 2 good (SKOSS) universal travel adapters and a 3-way plug adapter. Hotels (and most houses/apartments) have a limited number of outlets and not always the standard plugs. With this setup I can charge everything overnight on 1 or 2 outlets. When traveling lighter, I just take the cables and use the 2 port usb adapter that comes with the SKOSS travel adapter and charge a little slower overnight.
By the way I have had the same problem with several different devices. I have never been able to buy the plugs separately from the oem. If you are sure you need the standard European 2 round prong plug, there are very small and cheap US to European adapters. We have 20 to 30 of them and they work well. Just be sure or you will be spending far too much on a travel adaptor when you get there. In stores they can run 50 euro. You can get them cheaper online, but that is not usually an option when traveling.

That's what I'm running with right now. 50 cent adapters bought online. Work great, just a little bit of a nuisance having a plug in a plug...
I found another solution for this problem. The connecter for the interchangable plug is the same as the really cheap 2 prong connector for most electronics. Instead of using the plastic plug, use the cheap plastic cable that comes with most radios or DVD players (that aren't permenantly attached). I purchased 2 European travel chargers then noticed the shape of the plug is the same as the generic 2 prong cable.

He hah! I thought so. It's what I would call the pig tail that that plugs into the wall and then into the power brick. You have one with your battery chargers, old hard drive adapters, universal power supplies.
I thought it was the same, glad to have it confirmed. I already travel with one that I use for a battery charger, universal power supply and an inverter.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
This also makes it easier for me because the Samsung usb cable is so short. I can use the "pig tail" to plug into the wall and the brick is closer to where I need it to charge my Note while I use it.
This cable is really inexpensive and works better than a cheap adapter. Just stay away from the sony version, it has a square side and I don't think it will fit.
http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimi...&qid=1361337545&sr=8-6&keywords=8+power+cable
I have been able to find these cables locally in most large cities internationally. I have also been known to order from amazon a week or 2 before traveling, and have things delivered to my hotel. Saves time and money, but can be problematic, mostly from credit card companies.

It depends, I see a lot of "Micky Mouse" (3 prong grounded) connectors for laptops, but YMMV.
I keep a couple at work for visitors, our genius IT department said they would have to order the whole power supply to get the cables, I just went to a local electronics store and paid 2 euro each for the cables...
