it charges by USB in your laptop or desktop, and the same charger you use with your X1 will work on the TP2, it is a very common charger, you can get it anywhere.
Check the markings on the TP2 charger. If the input says:
100-240V
then you have a worldwide/multi-voltage charger (like those used by notebooks) and all you need then is an plug adapter to plug into your wall socket - it will adjust to US voltage automatically.
PS. My TP2 charger supports multiple voltages, as are all chargers that came with older HP/O2/Dopod/HTC PDAs/phones I own.
I found these at ebay. Are these the one you are talking about? These ( charger & Cable) are the same that came in the HTC box.
You can buy them in the HTC store: http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=179160

i wonder why htc doesn't have an official store in US ..
Doesnt it use a standard HTC mini-usb, so wouldnt a Tilt/Fuze (touch pro) charger work with it? Might be able to find that in a cell shop or Best Buy.
your right. I use my fuze wall charger and my old razr car charger. It's just the mini usb plug
Any old HTC chargers you have will work fine. RAZR chargers not too well. The HTC chargers output 1A while the RAZR chargers I believe are less than 500mA. They will charge the phone, but slowly.
Many chargers use the standard mini USB (type A) plug alright, but, unlike a standard USB port on a computer which churns out 500mA, they often generate more power for speedier charging - all Dopod/HTC chargers I have generate a 5V, 1A output. I don't have RAZR, so that's an exception
But, I think what poetryrocksalot is asking originally is that (and correct me if I'm wrong) he is worried the charger out-of-the-box won't work with US mains voltage since Europeans operate at a higher voltage than their friends across the Atlantic - it should work fine if the charger is a multi-voltage one.
are the plugs even the same?

yea but then you have to plug more crap in, and remember the adapter when you travel lol. Oh well. Least there are plenty of online placed to buy the U.S. wall chargers.
I agree. If one doesn't travel beyond US or Canada, getting a US wall charger is more aesthetically pleasing in the long run.
mines came with a universal adaptor that allowed me to plug in here in the US... however, I can only get 2G... which means I'm sending it back to Hong Kong, where I got it from
I use this one with my European Universal
Anyway is a great tool to have for travelers!

The NAM 3g bands haven't been released in a Touch Pro 2. Once the AT&T and T-Mobile versions come out, you should be able to buy an unlocked one with the NAM 3g.

There is nothing wrong with the phone. It doesn't support US 3G networks, at least not yet.
I'm currently using a regular usb cable to charge my phone directly from my car stereo while driving. The problem is that it takes close to an hour for the battery charge to increase 10% when I'm streaming pandora through bluetooth and using the phone's GPS. I'm assuming that the usb port in my stereo is only capable of putting out 500ma, if not less. Curious to see if anyone knows whether a DC to micro usb cable would give me a faster charge (1000ma). Thanks in advance.
BEst one ive ever used is the official palm one for the pre or pixi. Completely charges the evo from dead to full in about an hour while on the road on a call via bluetooth. Seriously good, verified a while ago on the precentral.net forums that its 1000 mA. They are only like 15 bucks at best buy, or maybe even less on amazon.
Go to amazon or google and search for 12V 1Amp USB charger and that should give you exactly what you need...I use a 1Amp charger for all my devices and works just fine...1 thing to note, that if you have time to use a 500ma charger, let it do it, a little bit slower charge will extend the life of the battery(not necessarily run time, but the length of time the battery will hold as good of a charge).
I use the one below. Works pretty great..5V/1A, exactly what you'd need. The thing says iPod, but it can be used for any USB charged device. An extra nice feature of this charger is that it sits nearly flush with the dash of your car

Cool, thanks for the responses guys. I ended up going with the palm pre charger from amazon, a little pricey at $20, but that's the best deal I could find for it. I'd rather pay a little more than get one that will crap out on me in a month. And it terms of a slower charge (500ma) being more beneficial for a longer battery lifespan, I'd rather dish out $10-$15 in 6 months or so for a new battery than to have to deal with this ridiculously slow charging time
Another option for 1A (1000mA)...

I'm not allowed to post links yet, but you can search for Scosche to find their products. They make dual port USB chargers.
Scosche makes a couple different models, one is advertised as having 2 amps over the two ports.
On a side note, I tried buying a blackberry micro usb cable off Amazon, and it starts to charge my phone for a second or two and then stops, it's very strange. I think it might work with the home charger, but I didn't check as I didn't notice till later that the charging stopped so soon.
Doing some cleanup and checking threads I promised to respond to...
The Belkin works great, and my wife has the 2-port Scosche. However, for me, NEITHER of them show "Charging(AC)" on either of our 2 Evo's. I have tried the charger in several cars, and same result. Not sure, but I'm guessing they are putting out incrementally less than 1A.
Not sure if that keeps the phone from triggering "quick charge" mode or not.
I just got 2 HTC car chargers from ebay, sent from Hong Kong. It says o/p:5.0V-2A so im not sure if I should use them.. here is what they look like.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170511321504&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Does anyone have a OEM car charger? I would like to know how many amps it puts out. The wall charger is 1A so will 2A kill it? I sure wouldent use it much only if needed.
I have a charger from iGo, works great and has swappable tips so you can use it with other phones or devices, think it was $15-20 with a free tip.

If you were trying to draw three amps from a 2-amp capacity charger, you could damage the charger. However, a device that draws 1 amp from a 2-amp charger will draw one amp. Chargers don't push more amperage than is demanded: it's up to what the charging device is drawing. You and your device will be fine in having "too much" charger.
Thanks so much for the info. So this charger should work great then when I start using the sprint nav or google maps.

Just received two in the mail.
FAIL
Recognized as USB charging in my car.
plus 1 for resurrecting a dead thread
I bought an off brand one (looks about identical) in a respectable local supermarket. It claimed 1.5A.. so overspecced (and no there's nothing wrong with overspeccing, devices won't draw more power than they can handle so long as the input voltage is correct).
Like the previous poster's belkin experience, my korean SGS (shw-m110s) saw it as a usb, not ac. I took it apart and shorted the data pins together, took about 5 minutes). Then it recognized as AC and charged a little faster I think, but still at empty (the fastest time to charge normally) it charges about 1% (1.5 mAh) in 2 minutes(.033 hours).. which is just under 500mA charge rate (450 but well within the measurement error and 10% loss seems quite reasonable anyway). Anyway, sure as heck isn't able to draw 1A off of it. The wall charger which is supposedly only 700 mA charges several times faster actually! (which is probably quite safe at low charge levels, but sure seems like alot more than 700mA too me, but I didn't measure it as well).
I suspect this gizmo was never actually meant to output 1.5A (as it's not configured as a quick charger) or if it does, it only does it with large losses, and an internal voltage drop that's too excessive for the SGS to still be capable of actually pulling that much current.
Wish I knew what to buy.
I Have been using the official palm charger since June. I picked it up at sprint corporate store or radio shack. It is rated for 1 amp and come with a nice short micro usb.
If I were buying today I would go with one of the Platinum branded items Best Buys sells. I saw them for the first time last night so they must be new. So far I have purchased the Pt branded case for EVO and 2 different mounting kits. All of their stuff seems top quality. The have a 2 amp single usb and a 3 amp dual usb model that I saw.

does it really matter what usb wall adapter is used? I bought a generic one that can double as a car adapter for when I need it in the car and it works fine for me when plugged into the wall.

No idea which ships with Verizon version but Amazon has the little OEM 1.0A US charger which is what I got. It works great. I just use the Motorola micro usb cables. My GSM Nexus came with a travel adapter but with UK blades only. I ordered a replacement from Clove but it was missing the other blades too. Either Clove misrepresented the description because it claimed to have multiple blades you can switch out or Samsung packaged mine wrong so I got a refund.

These are low quality OEM adapters. I purchased 5 of them a year ago when they were on sale w/Amazon credit. Of the 5, only 2 are still working. Like what the previous poster, the head will start to loosen and short out. One of the cables shorted out my car's fuse which cost me $2 to replace.

Is that OEM, original Samsung?
Also, I'm always wary about purchasing things from Hong Kong or China. Would prefer Europe. Thanks!
What's strange is, the GT-N8013 plug (excluding the cable) comes in two sections: the prong and the charging head. You would think the purpose of this is to interchange various prongs into the same charging head when traveling. But it seems that these interchangeable prongs that fit this charging head are difficult to find! I'm looking for a European one myself, with no luck. Why buy a whole new plug when you can just change the prong? It defeats the purpose of the interchangeable and portable design.

You can buy that plug from Ebay as noted above and only use the prong with the stock charging head(or visa versa) but who's to say it will fit? I don't want to spend extra $ and wait two weeks for delivery to find out it won't fit or work.
The prong interface/connection to the charging head seems proprietary, or almost proprietary.

Well, I ordered one of these and just as suspected, they are NOT BRAND NEW. That's why I don't like buying stuff from China. You have to wait 2 weeks for disappointment. You think they're new? Look at them more closely. Garbage. They repackage these from the bottom so the seal is not broke.

Yes, I hear ya. You can order that one from Ebay. They are the correct type and Euro prongs will fit your Samsung plug but they are not new. These are repackaged with scratches, marks, scuffs, nasty and they have THE NERVE to re-apply the protective clear plastic film back on the pieces! And these sellers on Ebay are selling them as NEW!. Granted, it is only $8 but everything is scratched and the supplied cable doesn't fit properly into the 30-pin jack. So you're paying 8 dollars for a European plug. I never even tested it because I'm not in Europe yet. The prongs could be messed up too!
Samsung's response and marketing is just ridiculous in this respect. WHY make a two section plug when you can't swap the prongs out when traveling. Defeats the whole purpose of it's design. Defeats the whole purpose of portability WHICH THIS TABLET IS ALL ABOUT. It perturbs me.
I am looking for the same thing. We purchased 2 note 10.1 tablets in Australia and live in Italy. I have been looking for a travel kit, but the only one I have seen is in Hong Kong. I will probably just buy a new European adapter, and one for the US if we still have them when we go back.
Generally when we travel I take 2 good (SKOSS) universal travel adapters and a 3-way plug adapter. Hotels (and most houses/apartments) have a limited number of outlets and not always the standard plugs. With this setup I can charge everything overnight on 1 or 2 outlets. When traveling lighter, I just take the cables and use the 2 port usb adapter that comes with the SKOSS travel adapter and charge a little slower overnight.
By the way I have had the same problem with several different devices. I have never been able to buy the plugs separately from the oem. If you are sure you need the standard European 2 round prong plug, there are very small and cheap US to European adapters. We have 20 to 30 of them and they work well. Just be sure or you will be spending far too much on a travel adaptor when you get there. In stores they can run 50 euro. You can get them cheaper online, but that is not usually an option when traveling.

That's what I'm running with right now. 50 cent adapters bought online. Work great, just a little bit of a nuisance having a plug in a plug...
I found another solution for this problem. The connecter for the interchangable plug is the same as the really cheap 2 prong connector for most electronics. Instead of using the plastic plug, use the cheap plastic cable that comes with most radios or DVD players (that aren't permenantly attached). I purchased 2 European travel chargers then noticed the shape of the plug is the same as the generic 2 prong cable.

He hah! I thought so. It's what I would call the pig tail that that plugs into the wall and then into the power brick. You have one with your battery chargers, old hard drive adapters, universal power supplies.
I thought it was the same, glad to have it confirmed. I already travel with one that I use for a battery charger, universal power supply and an inverter.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using Tapatalk HD
This also makes it easier for me because the Samsung usb cable is so short. I can use the "pig tail" to plug into the wall and the brick is closer to where I need it to charge my Note while I use it.
This cable is really inexpensive and works better than a cheap adapter. Just stay away from the sony version, it has a square side and I don't think it will fit.

I have been able to find these cables locally in most large cities internationally. I have also been known to order from amazon a week or 2 before traveling, and have things delivered to my hotel. Saves time and money, but can be problematic, mostly from credit card companies.
