This should have been clearly in the Q&A section.
Nevertheless, if there is an working OTG (not sure how that developments stands about that, search...) you could connect to it an USB key lets say.
And battery, well if you need to change, you can also buy an external battery and recharge from that, or a battery case. Both solutions are as the extra battery exchange I would say.
You already answered your question. Don't buy it then.

i am planning to buy the HOX next week. my concern is the hardware wifi issue. i cant replace it so thats y its a big problem. and i dont care about the storage as 32GB is more than enough. i still have 12GB left for nothing in my N900.
and battery: i just want my device to last 13hrs with moderate use. by moderate use i mean- 1.5hrs of gaming.(mostly stick cricket and temple run etc., 3hrs of music playback, 1hr of web browsing, few minutes call and sms). so to all one x users i want to make sure whether HOX is able to handle it with one charge cycle. please help me to evaluate as it will be my primary device..
which one should be wise enough to buy.. white or grey? i love both

Like most products, manufacturing it different so some one x will have better battery than others, same with all handsets but because the one x battery uses a lot it is much more noticeable

The number of phones with the Wi-Fi h/w issue are in the single digit percentages. You have a one out of ten chance your phone might have the issue. If you don't like those odds, don't buy the phone. When you say "yellow tint" it could mean two things. The One X display is sourced from two different manufacturers. Acer is a "cool" display and the Sharp "warm." If you look at the device you intend to buy in the store you can decide if the display's suitable. If you’re ordering it online you probably have a 50/50 chance of getting a “warm” display. The One X glass panel is laminated to the display. In some phones parts of it can become de-laminated and show up as yellow spots. I'd guess you'd have the some odds of getting a phone with this defect as you would with the Wi-Fi defect. The One X gets better battery life than the GN based on GSMArena's testing in everything but watching video where AMOLED does better on darker colors. On the GN though you can replace the battery or buy an extended battery. I don't know what your "normal use" is but if it involves a lot screen-on time you won't make 13 hours with the One X.

How many times did you change the battery on the phone before. I dont understand why this is such a big deal. I never bought a new battery for any of my phones.

i will be buying it from store. is there any way i can check the yellow tint issue and whether my battery is faulty before buying it? my (also goes for my brothers nexus) normal use- leave house at 8:30 a.m --- 3hrs of music playback, 1hr of light gaming and 30mins of web browsing and few calls and sms. reach home at 9:30 p.m. How many percentages should be left by then? GN has 20 percent left with 3hrs of screen on

Different stores have different policies about unsealing phones before you actually purchase them. If the store lets you open it you'll be able to tell right away if there are display issues. Type "about:blank" in the browser and you'll get an all white page that'll show you whether the screen is warm or cool or has any obvious defects. I haven't heard any reports of faulty batteries so I don't know where that one came from. When I first got my phone (in April) the battery life was horrifying. After about a week of charge cycles it improved dramatically. What you have running in the background app wise, the strength of your cellular signal, and how many syncs you have set up will all make a huge difference in battery life. There’s a major update due soon that takes the phone to 4.0.4 and people using the leak have reported both better performance and battery life.

I haven't tried the 1700 mAh ones, but I do have 3 of the standard size ones that I got off Ebay for a few bucks each. I'd say they probably have 80-90% of the capacity of the stock battery. I think that's pretty good considering the price. If I needed an extra battery, I'd consider trying it out.
Get a standalone battery charger and always keep one in the charger, so that when your battery dies, you can just swap them out. That way you never have to plug your phone in with the micro usb cable and risk breaking the jack.

I bought those for my first mt4g and you are right, the capacity was only about 80 or 90%. I sold them along with my first mt4g. I would not mind getting another pack but the problem is I'm using the tmobile prestige case the one with the kick stand. It's so hard to pry the case off to change the battery. Maybe will give the 1700 a shot

These are the ones i got and i couldnt be happier with them....I know it says for thunderbolt but its the same battery for the mt4g...i have been able to get 2 days with out any problems at stock clock speed and about 27 hours at 1.5ghz.

Two words... "Battery Calibrator" got me a slightly extended battery that is same size as standard as to avoid losing my sweet case and the charging dock so I always have a fresh batt. Name brand too. New batts take a few full charges n depleats before noticeable difference. Good stuff, good stuff...

Battery calibrator did really help I once got 23hrs on a single charge now I use my phone more like a laptop would not last for more than 10 hrs but I need at least 12hrs for my job. Thanks for all advice and shares will report back with when new battery arrives

em2 very interesting find as aware that TB used 1400mAh battery but not same size as our MT4G. Far as stock size battery goes I am aware of the current Mugen Power 1650mAh being better than of that Seidio Innocell 1600mAh. The link you provided is 2x1700mAh for $35 which is still better than current MP1650mAh for $46. Do you have any information regarding the company that built the battery? I don't want to buy 2 as I just need 1 as I don't plan to take off my case to replace it. If you be kind enough to provide some testing for us folks we would be grateful or ill have to go with MP1650mAh as I am not big fan of Innocell.

Well first of all I need detail regarding the battery itself as I want to check the company out. Which would determine the build quality and durability in long run. Far as the test goes stock 1400mAh vs TB 1700mAh I would like for you to first fully discharge it and recharge it so its calibrated. Then have blacklight 100% bright and CPU running highest that you can handle. Have wifi, life wallpaper, widgets on. Then pick a HD video and let it play till your battery runs out to 1% and shuts down. Make sure you record the data along with time for result. When you compare the duration of both B(1700mAh)-A(1400mAh) you will get the time elapsed. I know thats alot to ask but I really do want to put this test and compare it with MugenPower/Seidio Innocell, thanks.

lol I knew it was a longshot, I also really didn't think you would do it actually. Long ago I use to do that buy item and benchmark it and send it back hell I am sure alot of company is still pissed of at me for that. Like you ATM I myself don't have the time lol so I depend on the communities input to save time. Also I don't buy random companies product that I never heard of that is another reason I asked you for the detail. But 2x1700mAh for 35dollar does seem good only obvious question is what is wrong with it?

So far there is nothing wrong ....my gf is using one for her tbolt and she gets an extra 3 hours or more with the same use....And i get more use also..and for me that was worth the 35 bucks

Hey, I realize this is a lot to ask, but I really need some help fixing some things around my house. I have a hole in the drywall in my master bathroom. Could you come to my house in Atlanta, GA and patch it up for me? I'm out of drywall patches, but fortunately, there's a Home Depot that you'll pass on your way here. Also, there is a stain in the carpet in my living room. I've tried and tried for hours to remove it, using everything from the cheap cleaner that I got at the local grocery store all the way up to using pure ammonia, which made me really sick. Like many of you, I am extremely interested in the HTC One X. However, my one concern is the battery life - and is the only thing that is preventing me from pre-ordering one (and claiming the free MediaLink HD included with phones4u).
I currently have a Motorola Milestone, and have had so for around 26 months now - I believe the battery in that is about 1,450mAh - however, is effectively dead now getting no more than two hours solid use (apps). Now, I could easily go and buy a new battery for the Milestone - but won't as I am hoping to upgrade within a month.
My concern is therefore the non-removable, 1,800mAh battery found in the One X. Does anyone have any idea how long the One X will last with a good amount of usage, as I don't want to buy a phone that is going to have a poor battery life, that will become even worse within one year (two year contracts, after all)?

My Galaxy Nexus with 1750mah battery, roughly the same size screen (4.65"), also 720p but different screen tech lasted about 3h10m screen on time on average :/
Which was obviously poor, but there are lots of factors that will affect this HTC, eg better processor (with companion core), Super LCD 2 might be more energy efficient plus HTC software should hopefully result in better battery but I'm not holding out for anymore than 4 hour screen on time tbh

Also as far as lasting the length of the contract goes, according to their website carphone warehouse offer 24 month warranty for the phone, 12 for accessories and battery.
So if it was to get worse you'd be able to send it off for repair and they'd probably just replace as I doubt they'd be able to fix it with it being unibody.

Hmm, going to change settings on my Milestone to see what battery life I get out of that without touching it (screen on). I would be disappointed with 4 hours screen time to be fair.

My time on the Nexus was mainly spent browsing the internet or streaming music tbf so that wouldn't of helped as it was all happening over 3G

Truth be told, the reason I did not buy Galaxy Nexus was because the poor battery life and 16GB storage. If you go to gsmerana.com and find the galaxy nexus battery result, you'd be suprise because GN is MOST worst battery life test expecially in web browsing roughly survive 3 hour in GSM model.

This one don't worry about it. In my research, I found out that when on idle, HTC One X will use the fifth core to save battery life. Whenever you watch video(this one most benefit to me ), it's up to 60% of power saving using 4 cores which is 12 hours. The lack of mirco SD card also helped to improve performance and battery life since don't require additional card reading. 4 cores actually increase performance while increase battery life when browsing, gaming, video and others.

I too wonder this. I guess the overall finish looks slightly better without a removable back cover. The lack of the MicroSD slot is not a big deal for me, simply because of the good amount of internal storage - and the 25gb Dropbox storage that comes included. I am trying to hold out from pre-ordering, with the (bleak) hope of seeing the Galaxy S3 event announced before the 5th of April. I guess the majority of deals available will still be available after the release.
Another problem for me, is HTC's habit of releasing an unnecessary number of phones a year, compared to the S series which is an annual flagship affair. Having said that, I have never been a fan of the "Home" button on the S3 - but that wouldn't stop me buying it if it topped the One X on the majority of key features (erm, a removable battery for a start?)

Another problem for me, is HTC's habit of releasing an unnecessary number of phones a year, compared to the S series which is an annual flagship affair. Having said that, I have never been a fan of the "Home" button on the S3 - but that wouldn't stop me buying it if it topped the One X on the majority of key features (erm, a removable battery for a start?)

Actually I see no point of having removable battery cover because when you dropped a phone, the phone will actually break out..battery cover, battery and even worst SIM-card. My father has damaged his phone because of constantly dropping phone and I have to repair it piece by piece. About your second problem, don't worry about it. HTC already stated that they will focus on "Quality" not "Quantity". That is why you saw One-series were based on this idea.

The sim card wouldn't fall out if it is kept in the place it is now. The issue is the battery is really small (at first glance) for such a powerful phone, and if you can't even carry a spare..
I have had most HTC phones in the last 3 years. I have never had to use my spare.
What i do have though is my small APC portable battery pack

Your previous phones weren't anything like as "spec'd up" as the One X though, which is my fear.

But they didn't have tegra 3 with companion core etc...
We can speculate about the battery life as long as we can.. We will know it when some people have their hands on.. Not anytime sooner :/

well im on galaxy s2 right now.. love the idea of htc one x in my hands in couple of weeks.. only concern is battery.. im not happy with my gs2,s battery life.. wonder if 4.7 lcd 2 and 1800mah would do any better :S.. keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for best..
I don't fear about battery life on tegra 3. Its perfect on my ATP. Companion core actually works great. Usually it only loses 1% of battery over night.
And 32GB should be enough for me.

Try to compare with Galaxy nexus regarding battery..
HTC one x has,
- larger battery
- SLCD2, which uses less power over amoled
- tegra 3 has companion core too
So, to compare to the latest nexus, the ONE X should offer much better battery.
..... So, cant be too bad.

1% over night with the atp? with or without doc?
That would mean, since the htc one x has 1800mah, and the transformer has 6930mah, that we lose 3-4% over night, which is pretty good.

It is known that HTC One X+ comes with a battery with more mAh than HTC One X. The difference is fairly 300mAh. We are all wondering if the HOX+ battery fits in HOX?
I just checked out the new battery and main board from HTC One X+ and compared it to our HOX. The battery should be compatible with HOX as it is the exact same size and everything.
Ill replace it and report you the difference.
Also, the main board from HTC One X+ looks like HOXs, it has some minor changes regarding heat dispatching. Pins and connectors are the same so it should be switchable with HOX. Will try that next week and report to you..

If you decide to do this by yourself I take no reponsibility for bricked and damaged devices.
Your warranty can void after you open your device. If you are unsure about the procedure, don't do it!
UPDATE 1 (15min of use):
First notice, charging the battery seems a bit slower. I'd say it is because of 300mAh more that needs to charge - it seems to work flawlessly. 3.6 - 3.7V when using phone, 4.0V when charging so those are the same I will change my system to maXimus 6 as I currently use v4.1 so you will have better look at the battery performance.
UPDATE 2 (2hours of use):
I am absolutely thrilled about the performance of the battery! I am not going to talk about capacity and long lasting battery because it makes no point as it is too soon and battery is not calibrated yet (we need to wait a few days for that) but about difference regarding heat!
When I did some bechmarks with my original hox battery it was alwas hitting about 47℃ and when I was playing nfs:most wanted battery reached unbelievablish fiftytwoes! Now with hox+ battery its ℃ is only at 38℃ and after 40min of nfs:most wanted battery is only at 41℃!!!! It is absolutely more heat friendly and after few hours of it I can only say it is unarguably awesome stay tuned for more!
UPDATE 3 (6hours of use):
Phone feels heavier and more solid! That extra weight (just a lil extra!) gives me a great feeling in my hand. Once again, the temperature of the device is about 5-10℃ lower at all times (surfing on the net, calls, games). There are no more fast and rapid % drops. The battery drain could be related to the heat of battery itself - since hox+ battery is cooler, those drains are gone. I can see some difference in battery performance - power on time, but it is too soon to tell more. My opinion: a little change for the device that makes it look like its on drugs.
UPDATE 4 (3days of use):
I did some battery tests today, tho only 1 day after installed new rom (v8 from football). You have the picture bellow. I am impressed with the battery already.
I can once again confirm all the 3 UPDATEs again: temperature is lower, phone just little heavier, needs more time to fully charge.
Most important: I can deffenitely tell that it already lasts longer. % drops are slower - one of the best feelings after you use One X (battery hungry device) for a while. I'll post my first one-day usage report in a day CHEERS!
UPDATE 5 (4days of use):
So this is the first battery stat update. I can only tell that I am absolutely amazed about how easy I got almost 6hours of screen ON! With 17% battery left! That really is outstanding. It is not only the capacity that makes the difference - heat drained the original battery (gone with the new one x+ battery) and thats the reason for even better result in my opinion.

Looking at the picture, the X+ battery is rated 3.8V, and not 3.7.
That may cause issues with charging circuit, for example.

that change is irrelevant, it does not effect charging circuit. that battery from hox+ is within acceptable normal range for a full charge. nothing to worry about. also its a minimal change that can't affect your phone as it only has single phase electric power

Those minor changes are on the main board: alu on the top of the nvidia chip is cut so the chip is actually looking from the main board and nothing is between chip and copper foil for better heat dispatching. About changing the battery, ill upload the video how I did it .. maybe today if I will have time
hox+ battery is not easy to get right now ask at htc service centers if they would sell it to you
I hate to break your bubble but I just went from a One X, to a One X+ and I am very disappointed of battery life.
Of course it is possible that the One X+ battery to have better results on the One X

Shouldn't be that difficult. There are a lot of how-to's on opening the One X. Look for example in the threads about the WiFi problem. If you have it open, it can't be difficult anymore.

why not? if they want to make some money, they will sell it to you try and see for yourself, youve got nothing to loose. i think it should be somewhere arround 25€

Opening the shell is actually the easy part. It gets complicated because battery has connector on the bottom part of motherboard so you have to detach whole motherboard from chasis and disconnect all the connectors on it to reach the battery connector. I will post a quick video tomorrow, maybe a how-to will follow one day but i wouldnt suggest that to anyone who has no experience .. you can damage your smartphone!

Seeing as i will put my htc one x to rest (broken screen and they want 283 euros... - so i might as well buy a nexus 4. It might not help me but it would be kind of you to make a video of yourself replacing the One X's battery. I'm sure it'll help my beloved HoX friends. Although i'm going to own the Nexus 4 sooner or later, i feel attached to the One X forum and this is still more or less the only part of xda i hang around. I guess i.. i ... i love you guys <3

I can't understand how an high end phone can have integrated battery.
I need to switch batteries once one is exhaust.
Why all this phones comes with integrated batteries?
Is there some info on the nexus 5 battery?
The idea behind integrated batteries is due to the fact that most of them make the phone slim and cheaper. Or so I was told by a spokesperson about it. As for the exhaust part. It usually lives to about 2-3 years before it needs a change.

I used the wrong word, I mean low battery not exhaust battery.
If you cannot switch to a charged battery and you use the phone during the day and you haven't got an AC, you are without the phone due to the low battery in the evening.

It's a non-issue for 99% of users. Only a tiny fraction of Android users ever switch batteries.
It's less of an issue in modern phones. The Galaxy Nexus's battery life is notoriously terrible if you compare it to a modern phone which has no problem going with heavy usage with hours of screen-on time per day.

8000 maH portable charger is heavy and it charge the battery once or once and half.
8000maH is not comparable to a 8000maH battery, I think you know it.

Because the tablets don't, the n4 doesn't, and according to ,ost leaked into, the 5 wpont either. Obviously that's the route they're taking, because they don't care to appeal to the 1% that want SD cards and removable batteries...

LOL , it's clear in that the N4 didn't have a removable battery , and the "D820" in the FCC filing has a non removable back . Just like the people complaining that Nexus' don't have SD slots , 64Gb storage or come in a variety of colors , you are forgetting this is a developers phone. Google isn't trying to steal any major market share from any of the manufacturers . Developers don't need 38 hour battery life , and I would imagine that they also don't do any work on the phone while on an overnight hike without a way to plug the phone in . I like having a removable battery , in the past I liked having a removable SD card , I decided the Nexus was the right phone for me so I gave up the sd card ,I will probably give up a removable battery and get the N5 . If you can't live without a removable battery , look to other devices. You have to find the phone that best suits your usage , because you will never get manufacturers to make a device to your specs .

I'm an app developer so I like a nexus phone but I like carrying the phone around for my "real life".

The argument that Nexus phones are still designed solely for developers (as was the case with the Nexus One) doesn't really hold water anymore, I don't think.
It seems to me that Nexus phones are designed for consumers now, given the price and design decisions. Of course, they make great developer devices as well.

Yep non removable bat is paint to me to... thats why im still with my gnex.
Also you can put a 10 Amperes hour charging the phone and would make minimum diference since the power circuit that regulates the charge only allow a max of amps... and i dont think it goes above 3A or 3000mAh... the Joules effect on the internal circuits would be interesting to see with 8Amps.

I'm on the fence about this. I am fortunate, in that I'm almost always near an outlet, so I can just plug my phone in. So, I don't need to worry so much about battery life. My S3 has more than enough power to make it through the work day, where as the GNex always needed some juice just after lunch time. I never have to remove my battery, and have no need for anything larger. The LG-D820 has a bigger battery than the S3, so, all things being equal, the battery life will be a tad better (probably not enough to notice, as specs on paper don't always correlate to real life performance). I just wish manufacturers would stop making phones thinner and thinner. There's really no point, other than from a marketing standpoint, as well as aesthetics. Thinner phones are harder to hold. They have no "hips" to hold on to. Just look at the number of S3s with cracked screens for sale on ebay. Same with the Droid DNA, Nexus 4, etc. I suspect the S4 and LG G2 will be the same way. What is wrong with phones the thickness of the HTC Amaze 4G? The Evo Shift 4G? With phones that "thick", you could fit some serious batteries under there, which would help alleviate complaints about battery life, removable or not.
Hi there, i was considering replacing the battery on my HOX as the battery dies too quick.
If i do simple things like surf the web or check facebook for 2 minutes the battery drains about 3-5%
My uncle has had the phone on contract for 2 years and it finished so he gave me the phone as he got an upgrade and i was thinking of replacing the battery as it may not be able to hold a charge for long.
There are also 2 options i was going for;

I found the Hox Plus Battery on ebay for £20 as mine was driving me nuts and the shop along the rd installed it for £5 but i havent used it in anger yet but i'm hopefull of a little more use out of the phone. There are guides on the net for doing it yourself right enough.

Get the HOX+ battery if you're going to replace it, but don't expect a huge increase in battery life. There will be a marginal difference (which may be quite noticeable if the current battery is 2 years old) but overall the HOX just has poor battery life in general. It's one of the cons of the phone that really can't be overcome, even by reducing screen brightness, turning off wifi, etc. If battery life is important to you, it may be worth getting the HTC One if possible (or the M8 if you can afford it). Alternatively phones like the LG G2 are cheaper but superior to the HOX and have a much better battery life.
Does your HOX die after 1-2 hours of playing something like candy crush?
