[Q] Accept OTA? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I keep getting the notification for an OTA update on my rooted gnex on 4.1 (not 4.1.1) with cwm. I flashed the early unofficial zip and now i keep getting this notification every 15 minutes or so. Would this update be safe to do with an OTA root keeper?
Any help would be appreciated

From my understanding, you would get error when applying the update because you have a custom recovery.

Ulver is correct. Get the updated zip from xda and flash it yourself.

I've read the New CWMR from koush actually accepts OTA's.

If I have helped you.... hit that sexy thanks button. ^_^

if only thing that's not official is recovery just flash the stock recovery and let the ota come.

(PROBLEM SOLVED- Thanks efrant ! )Problem updating my nexus to JB 4.1

Guys help me
Basically
I got jelly bean OTA 4.1
It downloaded
Now it asked me to reboot.
I did
It went to recovery
And it started to install..
Then I kept my device
And when I came back
I saw it was ICS .
Nothing changed. WTF? How's that possible?
When I went again settings > system updates there is no OTA.
And I am fully stock with right recovery, bootlooder etc..
OK problem solved . I installed it via CWM. No problems at all
Thanks!

yes!
You probably have something that is not stock. It is too hard to tell if you are using the stock recovery. Easiest way to install it is to look at my update thread and manually install it using CWM.

right i have my gnex GSM unlocked with CWM rooted, on JB 4.1, im not getting the OTA reliese,
I've tried looking on how to update to stock 4.1.1 but i have no idea on what im doing now lol
Should i just wait longer for the OTA or flash it,
if i have to flash it how do i do it coz i keep getting errors.
Im on build JRN84D

Since you have CWM installed, you won't be able to auto-install off an OTA anyways. You have to flash it manually.

Read all stickies in development and return to bone stock and wait for your precious ota or just stay where you are at and wait for another rom to flash.
good day.

Ota jb update failed signature

I have a rooted galaxy nexus and went to install the ota jb update. It gave me the red sign in cwm and said failed whole package sign or something like that.. now it says no update available. Anyone know what I should do to get jb update without wiping?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
you clearly modified system files. you need to find the files you modified and change them out to ones that are unmodified.
Yeah.. I changed recovery from boot.p to recoveryfromboot.p.bak as that's what a tec said to do after rooting if cwm didn't stick... can I change it back without breaking root?

That's not the reason why. You must have changed your radio or kernel or recovery. The ota update won't install ota with cwm

you are confusing root with a custom recovery. they are not the same. to get root, you have to have a custom recovery (least on anything 4.0.4 or higher). you do not need root to have a custom recovery.
if you take the OTA, you will lose root anyways and then you will also lose your custom recovery.
So I have to wait for a rom build and flash it to have jb with root??
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I think there are plenty of JB roms out there from the announcement in June. I could be wrong, but if you're just looking for the new radios, I think they can just be flashed over your current setup.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
No. You can accept (or flash) the OTA & then root it.

You need to have a read of this thread. And then, maybe have a read of this one if you think it's easier.

That confused the hell out of me.. and I'm not dumb. Lol. The second one doesn't mention toroplus from what I read.
I think I'll just update and reroot.. my problem is.. do I have to change that system file back to its original? And then do I have to download the update from somewhere BC my phone says up to date now?

Being asked to update. Should I root/tool kit first?

Trying to figure out the best route. My goal is to root and install roms.
I'm on LJ1 and I'm being asked to update.
A) Install OTA update then Root/install recovery tool kit? (does toolkit work on LJC?)
OR
B) Root/installToolkit firt then manually update to LJC?
root after update
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Agreed. I first updated my Note II to LJC, then rooted using the Toolkit.

Just heard that the update is coming to canada on Wednesday. Will I need to unroot my note 2 for the update to work? Can I use CF method to re root again once the update has completed?

As long as you have stock recovery you are good. However after the update you may loose root, and your device status may say modified unless you factory reset.

Ota would not work this morning. It downloaded and attempted to install but once the phine rebooted it said firmware failed to install.

Remove root.
Then install update.
Reapply root.
I'd recommend a custom rom. You get so much more. And it's been multi Window 4.1.2 since October.
