From the GX
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA
4G Network LTE 2100
From the Ion
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
granted it doesn't list the hsdpa networks on the gx on that spec sheet but engadget already stated it has petaband 3g... i.e. mate it'll still work... and will more than likely be un locked
This is old news, the Gx was unveiled back way before the ion was released. Tempting as it may be, I'm not gonna wait another 3 or 4 months to get this. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with the ion's performance.
it may be old news to you. but as i stated. "i wish i had known about this" i might just have to buy the GX or SX unlocked at full price.
Been talked about a lot on the xperia s forums. There is always a next greatest phone. We should start hearing a lot more about the mint (LT30) in the coming months. Oct/Nov release for AT&T.

Phone technology will just keep getting better and better everyday. After GX, there will be another sony phone with better CPU and GPU. Why don't you just get the one you like? Catching up technology is just a endless circle
Ion is cooler, i'll reconsider if there's new device with Ion design, but GX is not my interest.

rumor confirmed! July 22. but wait, theres more. T-Mobile is getting Visual Voicemail too! check out TmoNews.com for the details. .

July 22nd. That's a long time to wait. Nokia n97 is due to be released on June 22nd I think.
TP2 beats N97 to the dust man! No competition. (a little off topic, sorry)
1. WM6.5 (when its ready) vs Symbian S60
2. 528MHz vs 434MHz CPU
3. 288MB vs 128MB RAM
4. 800x480 vs 640x360 Screen Res
5. 5 rows of keys vs 3 rows
6. TF3D and people-centric interface vs Nokia's home screen
The only plus for the N97 is it's internal memory and it's 3.5mm jack.
And even that, I will go for the Omnia i8910 HD instead.
Back to the topic, the TP2 will be released in 5 June. Only a few weeks to go. So I will wait.

Expansys Release dates:
TP2 5 June
N97 23 June
Omnia i8910 25 June
So most of the sexy phones are out in June or July
I know windows mobile is a much more versatile platform than s60. The nokia also has better video performance than the touch pro2. I might get both, one of which through t-mobile upgrade.
when will it be released for sprint or a cdma release?

Expansys sells unlocked phones.
long as it will work here in the states (and maybe 3g, but not necessary) Ill get one.
I am sure it will work for USA but you won't able to use 3G as US's 3G is on a different frequency. But you are able to use GSM and EDGE. But if you can wait, TP2 should be in USA in Q3.
eh.. 3g isnt a big deal, ill mostly be using WiFi anyway. Long as it will make calls and send txt & sms messages ill be fine. My phone is one the way out really. The handset speaker doesn't work, so only way i can hear calls is using the speaker phone or a headset, which makes it pretty inconvenient to take calls or make quick calls. So im kinda wanting to replace it asap.

What frequency is US 3g on?
according to a member here, they say "ATT's 3G is 850mhz/1900mhz (up/down)"
and according to HTC
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
*
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Soo.. would this not cover it? They are just frequency's, i wouldn't think it would be different between the US and Europe. Unless its like the Metric system

The answer is in the frequency. You have misread the details.
The correct network frequency is:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 2100
So yes, you are able to use it through 2G networks but not 3G.
The phone only accepts 2100MHz 3G networks but N. America uses 1900MHz.
Europe / Netherlands
Was the release date for Europe Jun 22?
And Does anyone know When it will be released in the Netherlands?

Not exactly correct. AT&T 3G provide 850 and/or 1900 depends on coverage, and you phone need either one (same band for up and down) to have 3G.
If I read correctly somewhere, Tmobile USA provide 1700 and 2100, and your phone MUST support BOTH (one for up, on for down) to have 3G

Hi all,
I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i, but it does not support (activated) HSPA 850 Mhz networks. Is it possible to activate this? I know that the Xperia X10a does support 850 Mhz. Is the 850Mhz HSPA option locked by software. If so, how can it be unlocked.
It's a really great phone. I already use this phone on 2G and want to switch to 3G.
Help please.
Winston
Unfortunately, like most cases of this, it is a hardware limitation. This is why they made two completely different models (X10a and X10i). It isn't just software that controls it, but it goes right down to the cellular radio in the phone itself.
Your best bet is to either switch to a network that supports the bands of the X10i (T-Mobile USA and Wind Mobile in Canada) or sell the device. I am sure some people who do use T-Mobile might be interested in the X10i as it works on that 3G network.
Thanks a lot for your quick reply. So now i know i don't have to research the internet for a solution. In my country Suriname, there is only one 3G provider, unfortunately on 850 Mhz).
Whats the difference between the LT18a and the LT18i?

LT18a UMTS HSPA800,850,1900,2100 GSM GPRS/EDGE 850,900,1800,1900

a= america = 850MHz 3G
i= international = 900MHz 3G, but also uses 850 for GSM only (it works on america but with slow internet(GSM))

LT18a vs LT18i - HSDPA 2100 band
Hi friends,
I am looking to buy SE Arc S in USA and want its 3G/HSDPA feature to work in India also. Mostly internet surfing I will do in India and seldom in USA.
HSDPA bands supported by both models is as below:
HSDPA 900 / 2100 - LT18i
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 / 800 - LT18a
Both LT18a and LT18i operate on 2100 band for HSDPA. Is there any form of difference when Sony claims support for band 2100 HSDPA in LT18a vs LT18i OR are the hardware radio/frequency & firmware/driver exactly same for 2100 band in both models.
In India 3G/HSDPA runs on 2100 band. I am confused which one to go for.
Please provide inputs.
Thanks in Advance

Thanks. Are you using SE Arc S LT18a in India on 2100 band.
I know that LT18a will work well in USA on 2100 HSPA band, and in India also we have 3G running on 2100 band. So will in my case LT18a run on 3G seemlessly well in India as well?

The LT28H might be alright, but the LT28i will not be, due to that it only has one bandwidth it can use and not the other one. It is the missing the 850Mhz band,
LT28i barely works on T-mobile. I tried that and it dropped out of network very often.
I have an LT28i and it worked fine on T-Mobile's 3G when I was over there for a month. Their coverage is patchy in some places, but I got good speeds when I actually had 3G coverage...
xperia ion lt28i
i ran into this dilemma before and started a thread as specs conflicts
after some research and getting a hold of sony , the unlocked lt28i does work on t-mobile 3g, which i currently have right now and am very happy with it, am in phoenix area which is one of the better spots for t-mobile
many websites had the specs wrong, i had gsm arena semi fix it but they havent recognized the 3 versions for the ion, there is the lt28i which is the international version(t-mobile compatible) , lt28at which is at&t locked and lacks the frequency needed for t-mobile 3g as of now, the lt28h should work also on tmobile and is capable of 4g speeds on paper but sellers that i came across couldnt distinguish which international version they had so i went with the lt28i, which is future proof for lte and t mobile reframe to 1900mhz for 3g in the coming months
my brother has the galaxy s3, synthetic benchmarks aside, when i have 3g and the s3 has 4g web browsing is almost the same speed, even though he has ics but its not a polished experiance like the ion
the phone is loud enough contrary to web reviews that dont know anything about the XLoud
screen is great, battery isnt the greatest but sufficient for a whole day
hope this helps
if you google any sony model followed by "white paper" you will get the accurate specs for it
T-Mobile US
I've got LT28i and it works perfectly well in Charlotte, NC where we have 1700 AWS. My average speeds are 7-9 mbps. I flashed Rogers Radio right after ICS upgrade. Unfortunately it does not support HSPA 42 only 21. Also when scanning for available networks I get AT&T 2G, 3G, LTE besides T-Mobile 2G, 3G.
2g, 3g, 4g, etc
From the White Papers on each phone.
LT28i: UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)
GSM EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
LTE Band IV and Band XVII
LT28h: UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)
GSM EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
LT28at: UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)
GSM EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
LTE Band IV and Band XVII
So, they all work 2g and 3g on AT&T which uses 850 and 1900 for both. Only the LT28at will not work on T-mobile 3g, which usually needs 1700. However, they do lease 850 from AT&T and have started reallocating 1900 in some areas for 3g- according to wikipedia's T-Mobile page. So, you may be able to get it to work in some places 3g for T-mobile, but what's the point if you can buy the LT28i and have the best possible 3g coverage through T-mobile? And in 2013 then, both the LT28i and LT28at will work on AT&T and T-mobile for LTE/4g, which T-mobile has not yet deployed.
Personally, I thought the LT28h was the international version because it will work 3g in any country. That said, the other two will work in most countries 3g, you would just not have all the operators to choose from. Japan and Some of Europe may be questionable for 3g on these phones. Look up List_of_UMTS_networks on wikipedia. I can't post the link, but it lists all the UMTS operators and the frequencies they use.
The Xperia V (LT25i) soon to be release will be tri band UMTS and pentaband LTE. Not sure it will work on AT&T and T-mobile without band IV, but the other bands contain all of the band IV uplink and downlink frequencies, so I would think it could be used. LTE is not widely used yet if you travel to off-the-beaten-path places like I do though. Until LTE is more widely deployed, I'm more comfortable with a pentaband UMTS.
From what I have read t-mobile does not have any 4g technologies implemented at this current time. They do call hspa/hsdpa "4g" although it is only a slightly modified 3g tech. I have the lt28h which fully works without issues on the higher speed h+ tmobile networks. I think the soon to be released sony TL will work on tmobile for there hspa/hsdpa networks and depending on how they use lte it may work in some markets once they enable lte which could come as soon as january in some markets but probably not until 2014. Either way by the time that tmobile implements LTE sony will probably have 20 more variants of the sony xperia s. But if you want a fast high speed phone for today's tmobile network the lt28h will work what you need to look for is a phone that has hsdpa 1700/2100 this is how to get tmobiles full speed. The sony t , sony tx and the sony tl should also work.
After reading this entire thread now I'm more confused. Ruling everything out, the LT28H is the perfect model for use on Tmo's faux "4G" until they deploy LTE? I need a decent replacement phone that runs on something other than EDGE using Tmobile. My Samsung Galaxy S 4G is slow and needs to be cut loose. Advice?
In the long run I want the Z or ZL but the LT28H will have to do for now.

I will do that and see if he has either.
It has the following bands:
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
LTE 700 / 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600
Bell uses:
CDMA/HSPA+: 850/1900
LTE: AWS 1700/2100/2600
4G LTE will not work if i'm not mistaken. I think HSPA+ will work, but I'm not sure. I saw a thread where someone was using a D855 with T-mo and someone said it wouldn't work with any 4G LTE in USA. Will 3G/HSPA+ be fine? I'm not really a heavy 4G user as it always impacted battery life on my S3, so staying locked on at least HSPA+ is more than enough for me. Any clarification would be appreciated, simple yes or no will work!

I understand, they're both kind of in between. How are your data speeds and battery life? Is ram really the issue, and not the UI? I have 2GB of ram and I find the main reason my phone gets slow is just due to age. Other than that I don't really have a problem with speed (even with touchwiz). There's about a $50 difference between the two models but there's a $70 one between a 16GB G3 and a GS5.

A friend of mine has the d852 (canadian variant ) witch has 3g of ram and I found it to be little more constant and apps update faster while multi tasking. The UI is still a heavy one but less intrusive and laggy touchwizz . You're still better of with the 2g of ram g3 than the gs5 , I had both and the gs5 feels like a cheap piece of plastic .

A friend of mine has the d852 (canadian variant ) witch has 3g of ram and I found it to be little more constant and apps update faster while multi tasking. That's true, however the size of the S5 seems a little more manageable and battery life appears to be a bit better. I may just side for a Z2, it's around the same price as a 16gb G3 and LTE works but the glass back scares me

In overall size, yes. However since the S5 has a smaller screen it is easier for me to reach the top of the screen (tested in store). I could probably still manage the G3 though
