Current BEST underrated apps for Galaxy Nexus? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Apps that are essentials or must-have that are under the radar. Apps that would not be under this category are ones like gmail, titanium backup, ect.

Titanium Backup... J/k of course.

RealSilent is my pick.
It simply silences your media volume when your phone's ringer is in silent mode. No more opening up apps and having them make noise when your phone is supposed to be silent. I choose to have the phone still play media when the phone is in "vibrate" mode, however, so I can turn put my phone in silent and listen to music/podcasts without being interrupted by notifications.

Looks nice but there's hardly any options. Doesn't seem all that useful.

Wouldn't that just apply to overall. The ones in my sig, Holo Launcher, VLC, and PDroid, which isn't compatible with ICS or JB officially yet.

Didn't see either of those in the market.

Reddionic, new reddit app that beats otherp opular apps

Angel Browser is excellent. Highly configurable, save/restore bookmarks, proxy settings, sane interface.
Logging Test App is great for finding and eliminating adware and loggers like carrier iq, etc.
Display Tester is a perfect for checking out your screen, finding best gamma settings, etc.
galaxy nexus (gsm) / cm9 / trinity @ 1.4GHz

Heh, my favorite app is TotalCommander

N.memo is an extremely underrated and very handy notification memo app. Simple and efficient.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mm123.nmemo
ClipBird lets you easily pass clipboard information from your phone to your desktop(s) and back. Extremely handy once you get it set up.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chefgon.clipbird
I also really enjoy AntTek File Explorer with the Holo light theme. Full featured and getting better every day.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anttek.explorer
Wi-Fi Web Login is a paid app but extremely handy if your campus/workplace/favorite coffee shop has Wi-Fi requiring you to login/accept a EULA.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.syslynx.wifiwebloginapp
Palmary Weather was the only weather app (of like 35 I tried) that had a 4x1 widget I didn't hate. Very configurable (including opacity).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.palmarysoft.forecaweather
I'm also a big fan of MemoPad, which is simple but does exactly what it should.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tgreerdev
And of course.. Notification Toggle, Prefixer and BetterBatteryStats, but everybody already knows about those, right?

Screeble! has been a staple for my last three phones.

Install widgetsoid to get a very similar feature. you can customize how it looks, which can look really nice. see screenshot. Only downside is that its not always on top, no big deal. The tappable toggles only work in ICS, anything lower seems to open a separate popup no matter what you tap. So SGN users, this is perfect!

I don't think the op is looking for a market app. He is looking for a systemui.apk mod like the sgs2 has and cm7 has baked in.
OP I am very confident we will see this soon as soon as devs become more familiar with ics. Until then I guess you could try a market app that the other Guy referred to

Create the widget as you please.
Scroll on bottom, go to advanced

Place it on any screen.
Then open the app in the app drawer.
Scroll down in 'advanced' until you get to widget visibility, check it.
Save and your good.
You can also place more than one row... look at next post. =)

Honestly, ICS on the touchpad was my first taste of ICS and I love it. Picked up my GN and I wish it behaved more like the tablet UI. Especially the notifications and power settings. It is so much more intuitive on the tablet. So yes, this would be awesome and I for one would be first in line to check it out.

Don't misunderstand me. I like the tablet layout as much as the other guy. I'm just saying that the idea of reproducing it on a device with less than one quarter screen surface seems rather silly, wouldn't you agree?

Ps, this is the power settings on AOKP
It's awesome, and you can customize it to whatever toggle you want in whichever order

Immediate one touch access to pop up notifications. Not full screen pull down for notifications and toggles. I would love a notifications/toggles soft key instead of a top down pane. Its less convenient to pull down an entire pane and then pull it back up when I could just access it with one touch and return to my app by tapping out of the pane.

I would love to get the Tablet UI for when the device is connected to a TV/monitor using the MHL adapter. Right now the built in Bluetooth keyboard and mouse option makes this a viable option for travel and being able to use the tablet layout when using an HDMI connection would be awesome. While the mobile UI in landscape works fine on a big screen, there is definitely room for improvement.

I guess I don't have a "thanks" button yet, so I want to reply and say so myself. Until today I was using a Play Store light app and it was not as easy as having a widget. It is a bit annoying that it is 2x1 though.
I am trying to learn to develop for Android but I am not entirely sure how one goes about taking the source code for stuff like this light widget, changing it, and making an APK. I'm sure there are resources somewhere here or on the Internets in general that I will explore in the next few weeks and try to contribute.
As for my contribution to this post. I think Circle Launcher is one of the best apps you can have. I have a clear home screen with a picture on it but if you click one person;s cheek, it launches an invisible circle of useful apps
Assistive light is tacky. There's a market widget called "flashlight widget" that's just a nice light bulb icon.

[TIP]- How to get custom notification toggles without root or flashing.

Hello peeps.. so I decided to share a nice trick that has been working amazingly well for me. If you want to add things like flash light.. mobile data...brightness control to your notification area head on over to the play store and get Notification Toggle. Let's you customize whichever toggles you'd like. Also let's you download and change the icons to each toggle.. really fresh and I have been rocking it for a while with no issues. For those who don't know about this app.. knock yourself out!!

Okay i noticed a small problem. You know for using notification toggle you need to enable it under accessibility settings. Some how this is partly turning on the talk back accessibility service. When you pinch to collapse home screens or apps in drawer, it starts talking. Anyone else having this problem?
Sent from my SGH-T999
Turn talk back off. its right above the notification toggle on/off switch. You might have turned it on accidently.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Talk back is turned off, that's the first thing i checked. The talk back happens only when pinching home screen and app drawer. If talk back is on it talks for every screen touch any where, which is not happening.
Sent from my SGH-T999
I have the same problem. Turn off toggle notification in the accessibility section. It will still work just won't stay on top in the ongoing notification section. But all other notifications won't. Not a big deal to me...talk back was really irritating.

[List] Must Have Nexus 7 Apps

I plan on transferring all of my apps and games over to my Nexus 7 with Paranoid Android ROM installed via Titanium Backup minus the Samsung only stuff in the coming days... figured I'd post this to give other people ideas about what to install on their amazing new devices since it can be time-consuming to search and navigate the market sometimes if you are new to the Android scene. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Here are some screenshots of my Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone as of 08.12.13. Four Apex Launcher Pro homescreens running in CleanROM V5.0 with Perseus Kernel V36.3... The screenshots include my most used and favorite apps somewhat sorted by category... have around 220 apps installed after months of stability and battery testing, but have narrowed it down to the best to be displayed on the 196 available spots due to the custom 7x7 grid... check it out if you need some new Android apps!

Might as well scrap screencast, while your at it. It wont work on the N7. Not compatible with Tegra 2/3 devices.
