I would like an app that allows calls and texts to be forwarded to my tablet when I'm at home. I would like to be able to send and receive texts and receive incoming and make outgoing calls. I know that tablet talk supports the texting, but what about the phone calls? I would like to receive them at my verizon number, and it would be nice if both my tablet and phone ring when a call is being received.
Like I said, I would only like this to work at home when both phones are on the same wifi network.
EXIT: If there is no simple way to do the call forwarding, or if that would not work well, it would be great if someone could recommend an app to me which notifys me when my phone misses a call.

I recently found the app tablet talk and it is awesome.
Works with wifi in your home or even through blue tooth and also does call forwarding. I just use it as a caller I'd to see if it's worth getting up to pick up my phone even.
Exactly what I wanted and I don't even carry my phone around in the house anymore.

tablet talk costs?
When I tried to sync sms on my Galaxy Nexus with the Nexus 7 via Tablet Talk, it locks up at 8 percent. I've tried removing cache, uninstalling then reinstalling, using Bluetooth AND WiFi. It always fails at 8 percent. Wtf?
They synced instantly for me. 4.1 Galaxy S and 4.1 Nexus 7.

I wonder is the different os versions is an issue. One wouldnt think so with so few devices with JB on em. I'm spoiled by aokp on my GN, so I've been reluctant to flash JB as a daily driver. Everything else works great, controlling the dialing of the phone, caller id, any new SMS received too. Its only when I try and "sync all SMS from phone" and it fails at 8 percent every time. I've emailed the developer.
I just got a response from the developer. They emailed me a copy of the app, labeled "TabletTalk143_synctest", and it worked beautifully over WiFi and Bluetooth. Extremely rapid response!

Agreed. I don't mind paying for a good app either. It helps out against the stigma that android users don't pay for apps.

Hi,
I have seen this issue in other forums with other devices, but I thought I'd mention it here.
My Girlfriend has an iPhone 4s. I have a Galaxy Nexus (GSM). When I send her a video MMS, she never receives it. Other users seem to be able to receive them fine. After doing some testing, it appears that she can receive them if I use GoSMS or Handcent from the Android Market, but it will never work with the stock app.
I'm assuming this is some kind of compatibility issue on the iPhone end? The stock SMS app encodes the video in some format the iPhone can't recognize? This is kind of an annoying issue. While I have found a workaround, I kind of like the stock SMS app on the Nexus and I just hate it when stuff doesn't work.
I'm gonna say an issue with the iPhone. I was at a party recently & about 6 of my friends (no iPhone) were complaining that my other friend (iPhone user) would answer them back super late or not at all. Turns out she wasn't getting their messages or getting them really late, or getting duplicates when she finally did receive them... (no issues between non-iphone users)

Okay, as an update, I don't think we can blame the iPhone. I just tried to send a video mms to a friend who has a MyTouch 4g running Cyanogenmod and he doesn't receive it either.
So, the messaging app is formatting videos in some way that isn't supported by other phones? Anyone else having this issue with the Galaxy Nexus?
Nope, I send my girl a MMS video when I was on 4.0.1 and it worked on her SGSII.

That's Samsung to Samsung. I'm not at all surprised it would work, even if it's some proprietary format that the phone is recording the video in for MMS messages.
ive sent MMS to my fiance and her thunderbolt no problem.
i remember hearing about that you had to change something in iOS so it would not use some apple application to send/receive texts/mms

You're probably thinking of iMessage. That is disabled on her phone. I don't know what else it could be. I even created a new MMS APN to test it and it's still not working in the stock app.
I have no issues sending mms to my girlfriends iphone 4s .
I did initially simply because I also had an iphone at one point and I message was getting confused . But once she turned that off ..sent me a pic and turned I message back on ..everything was good to go .
I have had no issues on any rom I have tried.

I can do pics just fine. It's video. If I click the attachment icon and select video and then "record video", she never receives it, nor does my co-worker running Cyanogenmod on his MyTouch 4G. It seems like it's a file format compatibility issue. Whatever format Handcent uses for the same function works fine, although the video is flipped when the iPhone receives it.
Mm that explains a lot I thought it was a att or sprint thing that you couldn't receive MMS from some android phones. It happened to my 4S when a friend send some pics but when I switch phones. They re send that pictures and it work... the sucks tho. My wife might not get my MMS sometimes then

Yeah, sorry about that. It was pretty disappointing to me, as well. The good news is that we can still send video mms if we use Handcent, ChompSMS, or GoSMS. And if it makes you feel better, Windows Phone 7 STILL can't send videos that way.
I'd still like to know what the problem is. I reported it to Samsung and got a generic "talk to AT&T" response. AT&T is NOT the problem here.
Actually ..I have a wp7 trophy ..the recent tango update brought mms with it thank god ... so we really do just suck . I HATE using 3rd party SMS apps .
I'm going to dig a little deeper and see if I can find a work around or maybe even a fix

Well I updated my radio and bootloader last night to the official 4.0. 4 and the test videos I sent to my girlfriend days ago were pushed through to her at like 3am.
So she told me a out it this morning.. I went ahead and sent a new video and she got it no problem.
That seems to have fixed that issue... As well as data and voice signal drops

Want to know what's ironic? My girlfriend received the videos I sent her several days ago at 2 am this morning, as well. I haven't changed anything on my phone. I wonder if AT&T did something to their system on the backend. I'm going to do some more testing?

Confirmed. Tested it this morning and she now receives them right away (though the video orientation is always flipped if I record it in portrait). Looks like AT&T did something and it's working from the stock app now.
Weird coincidence, huh? Maybe your update fixed AT&T's delivery system!

Has anyone had any success using Groove IP in conjunction with Google Voice to substitute the lack of wifi calling availability with CM9 or any other AOSP ROMs and if so, how was the quality of the calls?
Looking for ideas, any suggestions are appreciated.
Not using GrooveIP but I used the built-in SIP to connect to my Callcentric VOIP account and it works perfectly.

Hmm It's primarily because when I go to the coast to visit my Mom, her hurricane proof house with nearly bullet-proof windows and plaster/block walls seem to give me little or no signal, in the past I've just used the wifi-calling on T-Mobile based ROMs. I'm loving CM9 and gave GrooveIP a try today with Gvoice and it seemed to work great. It's only for a few hours a day each week but it always seems to be right when I have a critically important call come through and it drops, over and over without the wifi calling
Thanks for the suggestions I'll stick with this and see how reliable it is..

No problem. To recap the thread.
You can't have two devices on whatsapp with same number.
You can have nexus 7 registered with a different number. Google voice for example. There's instructions in that thread about it.

At the moment that isn't possible. When you use your nexus 7, the messages will go to that device until you decide to use your phone and the other way around. All the conversations you had on either device won't be synced to the other.
So i got a nexus 4 and a nexus 7 for christmas and i was checking out some of googles apps and iv known of google wallets app for a while but never worked on any of my phones and i didnt have NFC.

Dell streak 5 was an amazing device.... Very poorly marketed... Dell would have been in a different part of the economics had they done a good job...
Yes,that's what me and my brother have always thought,Dell had it right before anyone else, now everyone is making the same size, they didn't advertise it,so no one knew about it. Its still a great phone,I've had mine for 2 1/2 yrs.,I wish Dell would have made the streak 2,opus 1?. I haven't upgraded in 8 months because there hasn't been anything I've wanted alot more yet.I'm still on Froyo and would like to move up to Jelly Bean though: ),I will get the note 8,and still looking at phones, note 3,z ultra,...ect. . . Dialer App?
I have a ATT Galaxy Note 8 with a wireless data plan. It clearly has a micro-SIM and a LTE modem.
Really, all I think it needs is the actual Dialer app. Which leads me to the question: how would I install it?
I know that in some european markets the Note 8 has phone capabilities... would it be simpler to flash a euro image onto it?

If you are getting the Note 8 with the intention of using it as your primary phone, I'll chime in and say I haven't been happy with the quality of VoIP on AT&T's HSPA network. Your results may be better with LTE, but I think there is something about AT&T's network that makes it less suitable for VoIP than Verizon. I don't know for sure, I'm speculating based on what I've experienced.

It was real clear, now im just going through google voice settings trying to receive calls, I'm using Talkatone too, in google voice you have a different number that people see when you call, it says you can port-use your cell number, but it cost $20 to do it, which I think I'm going to end up doing, just still trying to receive calls, it says to click on make a new number in google voice, then make sure forward calls is checked,...I think I'll get the receiving calls working soon: )..also the sending text are working!

What a big let down, you can imagine I just got it today (Note 8.0 LTE) the whole time I thought this is one big phone/tablet that will let me use it as a phone because of the SIM card slot and 4g and LTE abilities!! Only to find out that only international version can make calls!! WTF!! Hope to try your ways otherwise I am hoping someone will come up with a rom that enable this feature for good!
It'll work as a phone great, I just called my Dad today and had him call me back on talkatone, and it sounds great, also groove ip too, just get the app, then go on your computer to google voice and get a google voice number, it let's you scan through a bunch, just pick one and follow the steps, it sounds better than using my cell phone on speaker!
