Unknown baseband - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I live in Croatia where we don't have LTE. So I bought Nexus via my career (Vodafone group) VIP and everything was great until yesterday.
When I entered Nexus Toolkit, I found out that I have Verzon LTE build number of my Nexus. It was IMM76K, and my device was toro (?) insted of maguro (gsm version that I was supposed to have as I understood?).
Ok, that's not big deal, I don't really care if I have toro or maguro, but when I flashed CM or any other ROM for Toro, I got unknown baseband problem. And I can't flash maguro ROMs, only toro ones.
I tried to flash gsm radio via CWM (XXLF1), but baseband is still unknown. I can't make calls, sms or any other career action.
Then I flashed JB following THIS thread, and I made it. I have stock JB that works, but again I can't flash any other custom ROM on my Nexus. I can, but then I can't make calls or sms. Everything other is working normal.
Now I'm on stock JB, waiting for someone to help me solve this problem...
P.S. IMEI was also unknown if it means anything (*#06#)
P.P.S. Sorry for my bad english, I'm Croat...

There is a few yakju builds with the build number IMM76K, not just Verizon Nexus.
And you probably f*cked your imei, restore your phone back to stock and get a new device.
And read up on rooting the manual way, gives you less problems. Not saying toolkit sucks, toolkits are a great way of doing things, but one click apps also comes with great risks should you f*ck your device up.
And if only you took your battery out and look at the label.....

You have a MAGURO device, NOT toro. Toro means Verizon, and Verizon ONLY. You need to go back and flash a maguro radio.
P.S., as was mentioned before, the build number has NOTHING to do with whether your device is toro or maguro. There are maguro devices running IMM76K, and toro devices running IMM76K (although they are different builds: mysid IMM76K vs. yakju** IMM76K).

If you flashed it with a Verizon option, it won't work. You have the GSM version. Verizon is an LTE carrier in USA. Vodafone is a GSM carrier.

Thank you all for replies and help.
Ok, now I understand that I have maguro device, but why I can't flash maguro ROMs (cwm allows me to flash only toro roms)? Is it because of cwm? When I try to flash maguro rom, cwm says that error status 7? Something like 'what is maguro?'. If it's important what error it is, I could write it down?
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Chances are, you flashed a toro cwm since you said you used a toolkit and selected the toro option.
Go back to stock using this guide and do everything manually.

Ok, I'll try. Thank you.
Btw, I'm on stock JB right now but I'll revert to ICS and remove all to stock..

I solve the problem.
Toolkit flashed toro cwm so it wouldn't let me flash maguro ROM. Now I flashed maguro cwm and it's all fine
Thank you all for tips and help!

[Q] 4.0.4 questions

I just bought the phone yesterday from Verizon. It's all stock. I'm running 4.0.2, but I was wondering if 4.0.4 is out for everyone? I haven't received any update about it on the phone. Checking for updates just says I'm up to date. Do I need to manually update it, or just wait for it to hit me? How long should I wait?
If I decide not to wait, I have to unlock and root my phone, correct? And then download and install 4.0.4 (IMM76I) "yakju" from Goggle's Nexus factory images page? or do I need "mysid IMM76K from ICL53F" for toro from the "Official Google OTA Update URLs" thread on these forums?
I'm just concerned because I ran into some battery issues already (phone was completely dead when I woke up this morning. was at 90% when I went to bed. About 7 or 8 hours) and I read 4.0.4 fixes some of the battery issues. I've also changed some settings to limit battery draining. I believe it's working.
Root and Unlock using GNex TOOLKIT V6.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
then install a custom rom should also fix your battery issue
4.0.2 its really buggy.. If you are rooted and unlocked try some custom rom?
Stock 4.0.4 has loads of improvement, great battery, great performance, camera quality fix, etc..
If you want stock image, download from Google official site and flash it via fastboot, and then reroot

No, I'm not rooted or anything at all. I planned to root later when I got use the phone. I'm pretty new to this root stuff, but want to explore it. I've already been doing lots of research.
But it seems the vote is to go ahead and unlock, root, get 4.0.4 and get a custom rom/kernel. lol Instead of waiting to get the 4.0.4 through Verizon, I should get it myself manually. I was wondering if I should just wait or not.
Is yakju the version I want or toro?

Thank you! I just have another question before I decide to flash 4.0.4 to my device.
4.0.4 was pulled from google servers, but is available at Random Phantasmagoria. Though, RP says it's not recommended to flash the 4.0.4 IMM76K update. Would you agree? I haven't seen anyone say that version has given problems with all the reading I've done, so I imagine it's fine. Just double checking. I think most people have to be on 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 to get certain kernels and such to work.

Well I was using the IMM76K version til yesterday with CM9 and it was fine, its been upgraded to IMM76I in the latest nightly.
All kernels work with 4.0.3/4.0.4
I don't think you'll have any problems as long as you download the right firmware for your model. Don't flash the GSM firmware on a cdma phone.

[Q] Am i cheated? Pls Help.....

Hi, this is my galaxy nexus version :
Android version
4.0.2
Baseband version
I9250XXKK6
Kernel Version
3.0.8-gaaa2611
[email protected]#1
Build number
ICL53F.I9250ZSKL2
When i start Recovery mode :
Fastboot Mode
Product Name : Tuna
Variant : Maguro
HW Version : 9
Bootloader Version : PRIMEKK15
BaseBand Version : I9250XXKK6
Carrier Info : None
Serial Number : 0146A0D002010015
Signing : Production
Lock State : Locked
Few Questions :
1) Before i bought this phone i was told it is factory unlocked. Am i cheated?
2) I hope this phone is GSM as i am using GSM Network sim. If that is the case why havent i received OTA Update to 4.0.4?
3) Updates are from Google or Samsung?
4) What build am i using?
5) If i manually flash to other build now, do i start / continue receiving OTA Updates when available?
Thanks in advance and sorry if some pro feels these questions are stupid.
Everything its ok with your phone... Unlocked means you are free to use any carriers..
You have yakjuzs versión and i dont know if it had received OTA yet
As far as you dont change a single file from factory image meaning kernel/bootloader /baseband /system apks. You are ok to receive OTAs if you manually flash stock 4.0.4 IMM76i

Where did you get your phone? Play store? Somewhere else? How long have you had it? You should be able to tell right off if your sim is working because of whether or not you have service.
I'll try to ease your mind. First off, if you root and flash roms, you will be a me to update whenever you want because as soon as the ota is available (most times before they are even deployed) it will be posted here and on rootz and numerous other places. To sum it up... root and enjoy arguably the best overall android device available.

No, that means the bootloader its locked, and i really encourage you to unlock it so you can root the phone when needed, and you wont have the problem of backing up your data and apks with a locked bootloader /non rooted phone

I got this phone from UK and using it inn Belgium......
Using it since 2 days and carrier service seems to be ok, but recovery mode shows "Lock State : Locked". Why???
Since it is GSM I should have received OTA 4.0.4 by now but havent received still on 4.0.2.....why???
Read here
Edit: you havent received OTA cuz you havent received OTA theres not a fixed time for it.. It can take from 1 day to several months...
Thats why ppl tend to flash manually the updates

All phones, including android and apple phones, come in this locked state. You can still use the phone on any network, but you can't change the ROM or kernel. To put in custom kernels and ROMs, you unlock this part of the phone. I would read up more on this before you decide to unlock it. You may decide that you do not want the phone unlocked.
If you want to flash yakju or takju, see here.

There is a difference between having a locked bootloader and being SIM-locked to a network. The former means that you cannot use fastboot commands, the latter means that you can only use one carriers SIM card. Your device has a locked bootloader, but it is SIM unlocked.

Yes, it is a GSM device. As was mentioned, updates can take anywhere from minutes to months after the first person receives it, before you get it. Given that you are running a yakjuzs build, the update has started rolling out. So, you can either: 1) wait until you get it; 2) flash it yourself by following the steps here; or 3) flash one of the Google builds (yakju or takju), as posted by msedek in the post above.

So if i follow the steps here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25477039&postcount=1
I will be flash my yakjuzs to yakju ROM with locked bootloader and hence forth all the updates would be from google instead of samsung (Currently).

nexus freezing and crashing

Hi
I have a galaxy nexus i9250, product name tuna, variant maguro, build jro03c and product name is yakjuxw. Since last week, certain apps are constantly crashing and phone hangs till that box appears stating that if I want to close and report etc but even that reporting crashed too a few times. Was working smooth till I installed utorrent app and downloaded some seasons. I cant figure out what is wrong with it... help Me out soon..
Another question is that, can I install the rom 4.2.1 downloaded from google's page for nexus? If yes then how to do that?
Dunno if torrent would cause those issues, i gather you are on stock unrooted firmware? Given your device i would look at changing to a yakju build in order to flash stock 4.2.1 which might also sort out your other issues. Search xda for galaxy nexus toolkit, it can back up your device and root busybox custom recovery etc then u can flash stock 4.2.1 from within toolkit, its relatively newbie proof and worth a try even has one click root, and a help section for further guidance. Thanks to mskips for his awesome toolkits

[Q] Question about yakjuux Canadian get OTA updates when being used in the US

I bought an unlocked yakjuux Galaxy Nexus (Canadian) phone that currently has 4.2.1. From what I understand, Samsung is responsible for doing the OTA updates, which I know unfortunately occurs later than the Google ones. I'm using this phone on T-mobile in the United States, and I wanted to ask if this will interfere with me getting any updates, since I'm not using a Canadian service. If not, I'm willing to wait it out. If not, I'm considering flashing takju or yakju. Does flashing these images also change the radio, or is that a separate process? Thanks in advance.

That's actually a separate process as Roms normally only package kernels and even then is optional.
If you search the android development forum you'll find the radio thread and likely find the radio you need to flash. I would link but on mobile.
Also I believe Rhee only difference between yakju and takju is Google wallet. I actually think Google factory brands every phone with any JB stock rom. (Eg. No longer rogers/bell/fido etc boot screen and bloatware.)
So unless you flash manually I'm not sure you'll get OTA because the Canadian OS for me on wind and rogers has only updated to 4.1.2 because of the 4.2 bugs.
EDIT was 4.2.2 but when I got OTA it changed to 4.1.2, I now use the cm10.1 so I'm not much help anymore.

Thanks for the reply. Is there an advantage of me flashing a new radio?
Also, if I understood the last part, I can get OTA updates from my Canadian phone, even though I'm on a US network, but they've delayed the update because of bugs.

No problem! All it really changes is how it deals with reception, any radio can be flashed with any ROM, personally I'd recommend the latest, doesn't destroy your battery as much on 3G anymore.
And it does seem plausible to receive OTA if its not rooted and still on stock because the factory images come from Google now. (International)
But yes that's correct, as far as I know wind (my carrier) has only gone to 4.1.2 my roommate has this same phone officially from wind with 4.1.2 and we just clicked system update saying it's latest.
Rogers may be different however I changed my phone from a rogers gnex to my own little wind gnex
Hopefully you fix your issues!

[Q] Radio flashes to fix signal loss not working

Hi, I'm not sure if theres thread on this but my signal is lost. two weeks ago i wake up one morning to find my service isnt working, the sim does work on my two old phones so it's not a sim issue. I then found my baseband is unknown. So I searched and found some fixes which are too flash the radio with a new radio through either clockwork mode or nexus toolkit. I've tried 5 different radios all being diffrent updates of the galaxy nexus radio. I was runnung 4.2.1(which i hated) but now I got android revolution HD 2.1.2 and ak kernel and downgraded to 4.0.2(yes the phone is unlocked and rooted). I was wondering can anyone tell me whats wrong before I factory lock it and unroot and send it in for warranty repair. Btw phone was with Rogers/Fido carrier.
Since you've done all that, we don't know what's wrong with it. 4.0.2? You're missing out on security fixes (been talked about a lot lately), new features, optimizations, not sure why you're running it. That aside, and I'm not saying it will do anything for you, you could try GetRil from the Play Store, to see what RIL you have installed, and if it recognizes any baseband at all. Your radio (or radios, we don't even know which variant you have) may be dead, who knows? What's the latest baseband you flashed? What's the latest bootloader you flashed?
