What's the difference in the CM9 builds - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could say what the difference between the two builds of CM9 are. There's the team chopsticks version found here: http://www.teamchopsticks.org/p/install-guide.html. And there is the, I guess more or less, official release here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/cyanogenmod-9-rc2
Am I right in thinking that the team chopsticks version is an unofficial attempt to port it over at the same time that the CM team came out with official support.
Has anyone compated the two? I've often heard a lot about CM, but have never tried it. I'm currently running Darkside Evolution 3 v8 with Touch0Color theme and I love it.
Thought?

I too was thinking about giving the latest CM9 RC2 a try. Kind of waiting to see if anyone else gives it try and reports back. I might do it before end of day today though.

I am currently running same Rom as you but a version behind, V7. I am just hoping that I can install it with the same version of Clockwork that I used for Darkside.

Team Chopsticks are the official maintainers for CM on T989. They are the ones who incorporate and create the code for our device. CM requires that all code be checked and approved before being merged. The "unofficial" builds from team chopsticks represent experimental, unapproved changes yet to be fully merged into CM.
Essentially, they are one and the same.

ive been wondering the exact same thing. im currently running darksidev8 as a dd but recently tested aokp which was nice as well. now im interested in seeing what cm9 has to offer.

Try the Cm9 rc2 its a daily driver for me.

Best advice download and try roms from this site as opposed to searching the web and as others have said yes Team Chopsticks are the maintainers for our phone so what they do to CM9 will be strictly for our phones.
If you are new to CM9 just stick with the thread we have here and get goo.im which will help facilitate your downloads of updates.

[Q]CM9

So official cm9 is not coming to the droid inc, is that right?
according to the flow chart there is a chance it will
I am on invisiblek's 5/29 nightly build and it is sweet so far. Very smooth and I haven't had to pull the battery since I put it on 2 days ago.
drk.hd's a9 build is supposedly working very well too.
So don't be afraid to go with the latest unofficial builds.
We already got it! it's just unofficial. But it's stable. I think all we need is a maintainer to submit and maintain it to CM. what do I know though
I ask only because i'd like to see an updated kernel

There are a few updated kernels, but none from cyanogenmod yet.

[Q] Best fully working CM9?

Hello!
I didn't flash a CM rom for more than a year (Nexus 1), I want to try a good CM9 rom but which one is fully working and bugless?
I mean wifi,GPS,camera,camcorder...
I heard there is an ''echo'' bug in the voice calls?
Well the echo bug is fixed. Try trip's rom. It's pretty good and has almost everything working.
I'm on cm9 alpha 4 by (forgot the name but I think it's tbalden and mdj).
Will give trip's rom another try sometime later. Did not work good for me the first time.
Try this....
This is the most stable CM9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706001
The torch app is working with the ''super bright'' option?
I have a major doubt about CM9 here. Why are there so many CM9's in the development section? When i had my nexus s there was only 1 cm9 thread started by the official maintainer of the device!
Furthermore which among the various CM threads is the actual one from the CM team with the official maintainer?
Or hasn't CM officially supported our device? I read that the SGS3 got official CM9 nightly builds.. Do we also have official nightly builds?

Nightlies Thread

I was wondering if there are anymore e4gt devs that produce the best roms nigntly? If you guys know any please share their link where you can find their nightly roms.
I'd like to start off by sharing my favorite nightly flashable rom:
CyanogenMod 9
http://goo.im/devs/Shabbypenguin/E4GT-Nightlies
unofficial AOKP by chris41g
http://goo.im/devs/chris41g
shabby builds these roms from the TeamEpic source nightly until we are a supported device.. then CM will build them nightly.. so yes, they are the same as Darchstars releases
cool, so they're as official as we can get until its officially supported.
are there any other nightly links you guys know of? AOKP? AOSP builds?
I came accross chris41g's more than nightly page, can't find any forum discussion on this AOKP rom I'm about to flash though but he's a good developer so I'm sure it's great.

[ROM][OFFICIAL]Cyanogenmod 10.0.0 Stable Release[TeamChopsticks]

Great news!
The Cyanogenmod and TeamChopsticks teams just released the first stable CM10 for the T989.
You can grab it here for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII (SGH-T989 Hercules): http://get.cm/get/4LV
To avoid confusion: The source is out for Android 4.2 and it seems the future CM10.1.0 Stable will be based upon it, however this version (CM10.0.0) is based upon the work put into 4.1.2 and therefore this stands as the final for this version, as well as the first CM10 stable release. This release includes all of the commits up from all of the nightly's up until this build, and a few more.
Justananomaly's advice:
Read carefully or you might cause a rip in the space/time continuum.
You need to do a full wipe unless you're on a recent CM10 nightly already. If you are not using latest TWRP I HIGHLY recommend using CWM 5.0.2.7 after that version, Darkside wipe scripts throw most ROMs into a bootloop. You can get it here: http://db.tt/IAwaFQNx If using TWRP don't use Darkside wipe scripts, just clear cache/dalvik/factory reset. It's not recommended to run Darkside scripts on TWRP.
Radios Here (thanks to VoiD_Dweller): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400
Use this gapps (latest for 4.1.2): http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
I AM NOT PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR THOSE USING GAPPS DESIGNED FOR 4.2 ON THIS 4.1.2 ROM.
Please make a nanoid/twrp backup before flashing ANY rom. If you restore via TitaniumBackup only restore apps+data.
No I am not a part of CM Team or TeamChopsticks, I just posted this super early to avoid multiple threads and the mods needing to merge them. I love my mods.

Great Job, ready to try this out.
Downloading now. Thanks.
WOOHOOO
Is this basically just the 13th nightly marked as stable? Or... is there more to this?
::Edit::
Garth, I meant.. were there a lot of changes to this to make it "stable" since the builds we've been using or are the nightlies what became this? Lol. If that makes any sense.

Generally, its the *lack* of changes that make it stable...

It's the first verified "stable" build for all devices that CM builds for. There are of course issues still as with all builds (even final builds). Nighly builds can be stable as well but commits are applied daily so what fixes an issue might break something else. Stable builds are more of a milestone between nightly updates as a good progress indicator. So after so long they will release CM10.1.0 with all of the commits made on all of the nighly builds between today and the day it's released for instance. That means this build contains commits from all of the nighly builds up until now, and the CM/TCS teams are satisfied enough to call it "stable"
TL;DR: Nighly builds are experimental, stable releases are what you flash on your grandmas phone, and they are progress milestones.
I hope that helps.

I just got it on my phone, I'll let you know how it feels.
Thanks team chopsticks! Looking forward to CM10.1, hopefully AOSP goes live soon and the merges don't take long.
Thanks Cm ! Yall came a longg way this is running smoothly
Can't believe yet lol, get.cm is servers are overloaded I'm guessing
CM10 Stable feels really smooth.
Excuse my ignorance but from my understanding, jellybean's smoothness has part to do with the GPU. From what I've read we don't have such drivers available for the t989. With that in mind, does this ROM utilize ICS GPU drivers or perhaps generic drivers?
Insight on this is appreciated

I believe Team CM use a modified ics source chipset driver for our device. Nothing beats source though and we might have that in the coming months.
Either way, this is smooth.

Did a full wipe, flashed, and awesomeness. No lock screen lag or anything. Nice Job guys

[Q] CM11 Unofficial vs Nightly

I've been running PlayfulGod's CM11 Unofficial for the past couple days with success. I see that CM11 "official" nightly builds are now available, but PlayfulGod is still updating the unofficial build.
Just wondering if there is a changelog for the nightly builds similar to what PlayfulGod has on his thread? I'm not clear what the differences between these versions are. I'm new!
If you read the threads, you should be able to find out what the unofficial builders cherry pick that aren't in the official builds. All it takes is a little bit of reading.
For the most part, there are not going to be any drastic changes - they are on the same base after all.

Yes you're right .. i think the unofficial is the best than nightly .. because nightly just beta tester before official ...
