I think it is perfectly fine too, but I have had sprint for 10 years and have nothing to compare it too
In a LTE market now and WOW have I been getting the old one eye from sprint previously!

I feel sorry for a lot of Sprint users that get dialup speeds. Lucky for me I get 1mb plus all day long, this morning I pulled over 2mb. I have been told that all wireless carriers here share the same internet connections. I know whatever I get on Speed test, so do my fam members on VZW or ATT.

Sprint's 3G is horrible. Up until 2 years ago, I was regularly getting about 1Mbps, good for CDMA. At $30/month on Sero, I was happy. Then it started slowing down. When I finally left I was regularly getting < 100Kbps and to top it off I was paying $50/month because I had an E4gT.
I am now on prepaid paying $50/month, getting 4-8 Mbps and happy.

Straight Talk BYOP Working with locked SGS2

Just wanted to jump in, and let anyone know, that my locked to tmobile SG2 running Dark Slide works 100% with Straight Talk's new Bring Your Own Phone.
I even ported my number, took 4 hours for everything including data to be working 100%, and I am still getting 4G speeds.
And my phone is still locked to tmobile.
Hope this helps.
Wait you still get 4g? How? Straight talk doesn't offer any 4g plans.

ST uses Tmo, or ATT towers, so when I ordered my sim, I specified I had a TMO-Compatable phone.

Please be kind enough to post a speed test
I'm a little n00b at straight talk, but do they offer unlimited data or something?
Sorry, Ive been busy.
Average results for speed....
Now, keep in mind, im in the middle of nowhere in north texas, so standing in the living room might get better than going outside, or 3 feet to the left..
Down Up
.77 .62
1.21 .98
.82 .67
6.90 1.38
6.20 3.21
5.33 1.16
.88 .38
6.55 3.44
so, it is all over the place, but then again I am a 1000 miles from nowhere, next time I go to say, Mkinney, or even the Plano area, Ill probably get the 21+ speeds. Also, I flashed the Blaze Modem, switched to the WCDMA settings, just kinda messing around for now to see what I may get, Ive never really monitored my speeds while on TMO, phone is always connected wifi at home, and even then, ill use my tablet, so data doesnt matter to me.
Voice and SMS/MMS are flawless, and that matters to me.
So can the phone roam on att towers?

I'm happy with it so far, going from 220.00 a month for 2 lines to under 100.00 makes me happy.
However, wife's G2X has no data connection, gonna have to spend some time on her phone tonight.

My White ICS
I heard they only give you about 3gb of data but I'm considering it now since they have unlimited everything for $45 and I have had a tendency to eat my 100 minutes these past two months.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I just ported my number tonight. I gave up lte for a 45 a month plan. I switched to att in 08 for the iphone 3g. I paid 70 unlimited talk, 30 unlimited data, 5 for 200 texts add taxes around 120. 120×12=1440 a year opposed to 45×12=540. That's a 900 savings a yr. I can buy a phone with no contract with what I save. I'll give up lte speed for 900, I still get 4g with around 2-3 mbps download and 1 mbps upload. I'm on wifi at home and even if I do a little tethering on my cm9 touchpad at work I wont go over straight talks watchful eyes for people who have 4-10 gb of data usage a month. I definitely broke the att shackles tonight and have no complaints. Even if someone has to pay back early termination fees you have to do the math and see if you're still saving over a year or two. 1440 a year ×2= 2880; 540×2= 1080 for 2 years of a contract I will have saved 1800.

Yes, as long as your phone can. BUT, they don't allow it and I've read they have cut services off for people who rack up 4-10 gb of data usage a month.

what keeps you with sprint

hey everyone..what keeps you with sprint!? the unlimited data and any mobile is great, but the data speeds and lack of 4g or LTE are kind of annoying...so what keeps y'all with sprint?! I Love the aformentioned perks, but I think verizon 4g lte in my area may tempt me to switch
Well I created a new plan with sprint [was on parents' plan] and I could have went anywhere. I went with sprint cuz of the data prices, and the overall price wasn't bad. Not gona go to at&t and verizon and get raped with data. Also LTE coming to my area is supposed to be heavy, so we will see.
Its cheaper then the other carriers. I get full signal on sprint everywhere I go in my area. It actually has unlimited data
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Well im almost done with sprint persknally. I have bad service at home and at work. My home wifi network makes it somewhat bearable.
Whats keeping me on sprint right now is the future unlimited LTE.

Yeah...I hear all the replies!! Unlimited is key for me too...especially the any mobile as I use my phone for work. But the speed and lack of network development bug the hell out of me

Ive never seen 4g on my evo 4g either since launch day!! Sad would be cool to use 4g on the "so called EVO 4G" should just be called the EVO...
Well, my parents pay for that. So I don't exactly worry, I only get to see 4G maybe once every 6 months, but my areas getting LTE.

There plan prices are much better than the others, but it is the unlimited data and minutes that are a plus for me.
There prices, when it comes to customer service they are the best. This only carrier I stayed longer then any other carrier.

Living in KC I get GREAT service and Unlimited. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is worth losing that. If All Carriers did what AT&T and Verizon do then I would just not own Cellphones or any other device anymore.
I saved over $90 /month coming to sprint from Verizon and data / phone coverage is great in Philadelphia. I never drop calls

15 years of loyalty to a company Carries a lot of weight when you know how to get the right person on the phone. for me no other provider can offer services products or discounts that can compare to a company rewarding your loyalty. Almost left a few years Ago when if seemed I could never talk to an American ( no offense intended ). Sprint has really done a 135° turn since then. Not quite there yet but doing better.
Pocket posted sorry....

Wow

I bought a gn2 unlocked off craigslist for $450.00 cash.
Purchased a solavei wireless sim card.
60 bucks a month no throttle after any amount of data used.
Great coverage averaged 14 mbps down. Hmm with speeds like these hard to see how sprint stays with these guys.
For the first time in years I have been thinking of bouncing. From sprint to another Carrier . The blazing data speeds have me mezmerized. Solavei rides on tmobiles network. But at that price it may be worth a switch.
Bought the 2nd gn2 for a work phone. Gonna wait and see if sprint builds out the lte network in my area. But it's sad when I go back to my sprint gn2 and speeds won't pay 512 kbps on average.

HSUPA+ compared to EVDO lol. If HDUPA+ on tmobile was always 14-15mbs download then they would have no need to roll out LTE. Thing is HSUPA+ cant maintain that speed.

HSPA+ ? Trust me even still in the dfw areas it's good averages 6 to 15Mbps. They don't need to roll out lte but normal consumers don't understand differences between 4g technology. And t mobile is truly using 3g but when pushed to its ultimate limits it hits 4g like speeds. But they don't people that obviously.but that's why gsm is so much better than cdma and other stuff too lol

Is Tmobile still "unlimited" - 5-10GBs then throttled to hell or is it like Sprint's unlimited?
I have tmobile and one of their major slogans sort of is "the only truly unlimited data plan". Ive used like 30 gigs of data the month I have owned my note 2 and have never been throttled. Usually get around 27mb 19 down. I notice no change in speed.

No they have a plan that's 5 and 10Gb with hotspot that's throttled but if you get the unlimited 4g plan it's cheaper and better setting how we can all get hotspot for free.

If Sprint were to release EvDo RevB or even RevC, it'd pull speeds of up to 30mbps, too. Problem is, lte becoming the new standard, it'll evolve the fastest and its cost efficient for Sprint in the long run (also cost efficient for any carrier.) This is why everyone's going to lte.

GSM certainly has its advantages, that's why I was with T-mobile previously. The HSPA is getting pretty fast at it's peak, but there are so many times when you don't get those numbers if you are in a heavily used area.
Having said that, I switched to Sprint because they are implementing the next wave of GSM (READ: LTE-A) before T-mobile will be finished with their GSM network (Read: HSPA+42)

Best mobile hotspot (to game with)?

I'm getting stationed on Keesler Airforce Base tomorrow and I'm getting this laptop http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1F3NJX to game with. But my only source of internet at the moment is my 4G (which gets me poor gameplay, no PvP at all).
Some people here on Lackland AFB use a Clear Spot, which usually gets about 1MB down/up and somehow get decent gameplay. But if I could get better internet I'd do it, and I have no idea if Keesler gets 4G. I've looked at Verizon hotspots but they're like $50 for 4gigs and I would easily use 50+GB a month, compared to the Clear Spot which is $50 for unlimited.
But I guess my question is the title. Is there any mobile hotspots I could use that are affordable that I could use for adequate gaming? (Such as league of legends)

You can try getting a hotspot device from virgin mobile like the Overdrive Pro. It's $35/month with unlimited 4G (wimax) speeds and 2gigs of 3G (CDMA rev. A). You can get it all this on prepaid. Five wifi devices can connected simultaneously to the hotspot. Just make sure you check if there's service/coverage at the base. Clearwire uses wimax as well if I'm correct.
I'm using the Overdrive Pro and speeds are amazingly fast. It really depends on coverage.

Here's a funny fact about att you probably dont know. After 3gb a month on unlimited grandfathered. They throttle you to 2g speeds. Enjoy.

He's right, though- HSPA+ (what AT&**** claims is 4G) gets around the same download speeds as LTE... In general. LTE wins with ping and upload every time though. And HSPA+ really only makes it to 10-15mbps down, whereas my LTE down record is 64 mbps.

This really is a first world problem haha... But Verizon vs. AT&T is a no brainer for me, especially when Verizon's LTE is held to FCC equality standards (among other things, Verizon cannot throttle you on their LTE, AT&T of course, can).
Why do you think they guy you want to trade with wants unlimited on Verizon?
