GPS doesn't work? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I am running CM9 beta 1 and GPS doesn't work. Before this, I was running CM9 nightly 6/17 and GPS didn't work then, either. When upgrading to the beta, I did a full Darkside wipe with cache cleaned properly, etc. I even reflashed UVLE1 radio, and flashed TDJ's venom kernel. GPS still does not lock. It's not an issue of my case because it does not work when I remove my case, either.
Any help?

Definitely agree as well as quite a few documented steps to gain GPS located throughout the web and these forums. I believe there is a thread for return to stock which can help you achieve gps lock, apps on the market that can help you achieve GPS lock and my best friend Google than can help you get GPS lock
Now so people dont think I am a bad guy here are some links

Have you downloaded GPS Status from the market? Download that and it will allow you to see how many sats are available and how many you are locked on to.

It doesn't show any satellite data; I don't even think GPS was functioning there at all

[Q] GPS Fix for ICS leaked builds?

I just flashed the FE10 ICS ROM and now my GPS will not lock. Is the only work around is to flash the EL26, turn GPS on, get a lock, leave it on, then flash back the FE10?
I flashed the same rom from sfhub
And gps locked very quickly 20 meters and i was inside my apartment. So i think you should reflash fresh .

There is another possible fix that worked for me and a few others, but not everybody. Download fasterfix and gpsfix and run them in that order. I did this on Blend 2.1 and have never lost my 2 second lock, but again this hasn't worked for everybody.

Hmm i get great gps on ics. I can even get a lock from my bathroom which has no windows lol. It's better than el29 gps. Try clearing agps and updating it using gps test followed with a reboot.

GPS fix? AOKP maybe cm9 ics

First of all I'm on AOKP 715 m6. My gps was nonexistent even though it was good on earlier versions. I was running a modded vle radio which i don't remember the source. Anyways, i flashed tdj's modded vle radio in one of his threads and gps initial locked on in less than 5 mins. It then locks on in less than a min after that.
At first i thought it was the kernel, so i flashed different ones, but no changes. however the radio definitely fixed it for me on AOKP.
So to those with gps problems try flashing tdj's modded radios. Sorry for being lazy on my phone and not linking them.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
This was discussed months ago. Its the basic reason modded radios were made. Apparently the RILS break GPS. So yes GPS won't work unless you flash one of the modded radios, as you found out by accident lol.

I am not using a modded radio I am using the one that came with the ics official update uvle1. And I am running AOKP M6 7-15. My GPS is the best it has ever been I get instant locks even indoors. And It is accurate too. I have also used other roms and had the same results.

yeah i remembered that discussion, and I flashed a modded radio and it worked for most ROMs. I was then really bothered that my uber great locking GPS was no more... I seriously thought I flashed TDJ's radio because I had a file with the same name in my sd card. So I was bummed and decided to test kernels because thats like testing 2 things at once lol. But yeah I ended up checking the md5 of the modded radio i had on my sd card and it turns out it wasn't the same. Must have gotten it from a different thread even though the file name was the same.
But yeah it's just a little reminder to those who have GPS problems, that even though you may think you have a perfectly working radio... you should just flash TDJ's radio mods just in case.
Just flashed TDJ's modded UCLE1 radio...still no luck with GPS

What do you guys mean when you say "breaks GPS"? I am trying to determine if my problem is similar to yours.
My problem is not really an issue with the GPS but an issue with Google Maps. When I use navigation from point A to point B, say Schaumburg to Chicago, it'll always speak directions as if it's going from point B to point A, although all the on-screen directions are correct.
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled, but have not yet tested to see if that fixed it.

Yes this is what I have to do every time I flash a ROM and GPS breaks. I made a thread about it and there are also 2 more threads. Its a zip file you flash through cwm. Also people don't forget that if you're on cyanogenmod that you have to go into location services, GPS source and tick "use internal GPS". Or else GPS will barely work.

didn't know he had a ucle1 radio, he has a uvle1 radio though maybe try that one.
If it is the first time you're trying to lock on, it might take a while, you should turn off wifi and data while leaving your GPS on. Stand outside with it on for 5-10 mins or so, it should get a lock on. After that your GPS locks quicker the more frequent you use it.
I think a lot of people would expect GPS to lock on right away, this only happens if your phone has recent locks to the GPS. I find it best with wifi and data off and to just leave the gps on and google maps on.
btw i've tried the AGPS patch before, but if you have a crappy radio it still won't connect lol.
Here's the screenshot without data or wifi. This is inside my house. Notice the gps signal has a constant dot in the middle, i know for aokp this means i have locked on.probably the same for cm, not sure about tw, haven't been on that for a month.
Anyways it has went as low as 4m, so pretty good. This is without apply the patch.

GPS problem

I have tried dark side 4.04 and Jedi knight 2 and JMT v8... previously I used to use JMT and my GPS worked flawlessy with no problem. A little while ago I started using darkside 4.04 and GPS was working well as well. Then I installed Jedi knight and since then my GPS is never able to lock on. I have tried switching back to JMT and darkside... but the GPS doesn't lock on...I've tried using the aGPS patch as well but that didn't do anything.
If someone knows how to fix this, please help me out as GPS is a part of my daily life. Thanks a lot!

I had a similar problem with my GPS taking 5 mins to lock in, and i was using DarkSide 4.04.
So i moved to [ROM] Android Open Kang Project | September 13 | Jellybean Build 1 + Nightlies, and my GPS locks in really quick.
Not sure why, DarkSide was really good ROM but the GPS was a problem casue i use it a lot while driving.
but I am really happy with my phone now (Jellybean Build 1 + Nightlies), hope this helps you.

That's weird... I always hear about that problem but I've never experienced it. Try AOKP 9/13 with lg3 radio. That's what I'm running and gps is perfect. looking for stable and functional gps rom

Its been awhile since i have visited the forums and getting really sick of the lag/random reboots for my stock rooted ics. What is the most stable with a working gps rom. I have tried koodo but that didnt work out to well. Gps never locked on even after doing the recommended agps fix. I really do like touchwiz mostly for the camera app. I get about 10 hours out of my phone now. I would like to squeeze more out of it if i can. So what are you guys running?
Lol last time I had a quick-lockin-flawless-badass gps was darkside roms.
Im sure there have been others since but I havent had any luck.

If you can rock gingerbread then flash Tuesday. Best GPS I ever used.
I am using slimbean 3.1.0 (beta) and I got a quick lock on GPS.
With iGO as navigation app you can skip the data usage.

Google Map/GPS Broken

My GPS doesn't lock anymore. I think it may be something with the phone itself because I've tried more than four different ROMS and it searches for GPS/location on all of them.
I am using the latest Pacman AOKP ROM as my daily driver. I tried another GPS app (telnav) and I got an instant lock. I also tried the GPS fix app but that didn't help.

Heres wat I did.
Went to settings > Application manager > ALL > Maps
Cleared Cache
Cleared Data
Uninstalled Updates
Then Unninstalled Maps
Rebooted and installed Maps from the market.
Enabled the GPS
Started navigation and it worked just like it should.
Good Luck!

Actually I was in AOKP and then I flashed the latest version of Frosty, but my GPS was working after that. Then I flashed a few different Kernels to see which one worked better. I flashed Ktoonsez first, then Deviant, and finally I settled on Xone Kernel. It was then that I realized my GPS didn't work. So I'm not sure what messed it up.
