Hi All,
Recently there was a problem with the sliding stripe of my xperia play. So i got it fixed from a local store.
After this i observed that my battery is getting drained out very fast. maximum i will get is 10hours.
I even tried flashing through WotanClient, but even with limited applications battery performance is same.
Most battery is consumed by Cell Standby and PhoneIdle.
Battery Stats:
Day1:
Total Duration : 8h 42m
Android System : 40%
Cell Standby : 31%
Phone Idle : 30%
Day2:

WR Pay-Per-View : 20%
Day3:

Android System : 40%

I am having android 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.42)
Please help...
Thanks and Regards,

I would be happiest person if my battery can resist the usage of 8 hours.
Stats i posted above were without any usage. I charged my battery 100% before i go for sleep. And morning when i wake up battery would have drained. All 3 days stats i posted above are just over night stat without any usage.

this probably isn't something that's very helpful, but i bought a mugen power battery because i wasn't satisfied with how long the stock battery lasted, and now it lasts like 5 days. something to consider.

Hey dear.
IT sounds to me that your stock battery was replaced by a FAKE. do you think it possible?

I don't think so. Because i have purchased this battery 2 weeks back from SE service center.

You can try downloading BetterBatteryStats from the market and see whats REALLY draining your battery. If its the display , you can only reduce the brightness to the minimum and turn off auto brightness. If its Wifi , you can lower the scan time (iirc some options from Supercharger and Autokiller can do this for you) . That mostly helps if you dont have an active Wi-Fi connection .
However i think TC has a faulty battery...theres really only one way to fix that...
BBS can tell you what part of the android system is draining your battery , but i dont that will help much
I can generally keep my phone on standby for about a day and a half, with it not being used of course.
If you're sure you don't have a rouge application eating your resources, causing your battery to drain faster than it should, then you were supplied with a faulty battery pack. Margin of error is inevitable with mass produced products. In this case, you should buy a replacement battery pack off ebay or amazon, preferably with it listed as being the official/genuine product.
My stock battery was giving up after a year so i bought the mugen 1800 and with very little use i can prolly get it to 4-5 days before recharge but on average in lasts 2 days.....with very heavy usage like gaming for 5h and surfing the net for 2 its down to 35% at the end of the day so...........

Might also be any new apps you've installed recently. This happens to me all the time, so I go back and check what apps I've installed recently and remove them and that solves the problem. Or it might be a new rom?

Someone said in another thread... if you look at your Android System usage in the battery meter, its way too high... sounds like a bug - apparently a custom kernel has fixed this, but I havent rooted yet to test it.

Although I prefer the GN, laptopmag.com found that the Rezound and RAZR have clear advantages when it comes to web surfing time on 4G. GSM GN wasn't too impressive either.
"On the LAPTOP Battery Test (web surfing over 4G on 40-percent brightness), the Galaxy Nexus lasted just 3 hours and 40 minutes. That's a full 3 hours less than the smartphone average (6:38), and about 1:20 less than the unlocked Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile's network. By comparison, the HTC Rezound lasted 5:03 and the Droid RAZR lasted 4:48. Verizon Nexus owners may want to turn off 4G when they don't really need it or find other ways to conserve juice."

After just a couple days mine is doing just fine. I'm at 18 hours right now with 23% left. You have to condition the battery always.
Mine did the same thing as they always do. I only got 4 hours first full charge. After 2 more full cycles it's great!

I forget this every time I get a new phone!! It's odd considering I load roms very, very frequently on whatever phone I have at the time and I know I have to wait a couple of battery cycles for battery life to get acceptable with any new rom, but I can't seem to remember it with a new phone!
I'm going to chill and wait and see.
Also, let it die completely and then charge it up 100000% (leave it charging overnight if you can). This is a good way to "train" the battery.

Do NOT do this whatever you do. You should never completely drain a Li-Ion battery except when calibrating it after flashing a rom. Draining li-ion batteries hurts its battery life.

Ok, so should he do it or not? You say not to unless you're calibrating.
Well, that's what the other poster is talking about. "training" = calibrating.
It doesn't harm a thing letting them drain all the way to the point of the phone shutting down. I've been doing this for all my phones, new roms, etc. I always end up with excellent battery life.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
Deep discharges do "harm" a LiIon battery physically (there is damage done to the membranes in the battery at a molecular level).
You will get about ~500 full (deep) discharges from your battery, but you will get more than double of that if you only discharge to 50% and more if you discharge even less. So the best thing is to charge your LiIon cell as often as possible, with the exception that it's also not healthy for the cell to be at full charge voltage (4.20 V) for a prolonged time either.
Yikes. You people with good battery life are lucky haha. I'm on my 6th charge and I still get around an hour and forty minutes of battery life. I'm at like 50% after an hour or so... and that's with LTE off too...

I hope this will improve very soon. That is a no go. Would like to hear from you about your experience regarding your new Xperia S.

For me, I removed junk I don't use, like foursquare. That alone made a huge difference. I also turn off data at night, and only went down about 4% while I slept.
Another option is to install something like JuiceDefender, which automatically shuts down data except switching it on every hour or so to allow for some syncs, then shuts it down again.
same as my arc, drained about 30% in the first day, with time it'll be better.
i was about to ask the same question. 7 hours seems about right, but i have been doing a lot of app installs, so I will give it time to settle down.
I use the XS in Hong Kong. If I use the phone online to play with internet browser, battery will be drained from 100% to 69% in approx. 1 hour. Is it too fast? Or it just a normal way when compare with SII or GN?

Ohh yes. U are soo right. Had my phone now for 4 days. The display uses an average of 70% of the overall battery consumption. It is not WiFi, calls, BT or any other functions. It is the display that drains. Will give it the weekend to see if it improves. If not I will return it on Monday :-( And my brightness is down on less than 25% so not much to do there.

I get about the same on my Arc. I dont know if it's too fast or not, but if your pretty much constant on the net for an hour say then 69% isn't all that bad.

Had an Arc for around one year. On a daily average the screen took about 55% and I had no problems to get a full day out of it. (approx 16 to 18 hours) and still 10-15% juice left. Now I get max 10-12 hours out of my S and NO juice left. Really disappointing. Even my old X10 did better than my new S.

Surely the HD display amongst other things, ie how you have your phone set up, may go someway to why your experiencing poor battery life compared to your Arc.
Try to disable Bravia engine and see if you notice any difference especially during the night.
My phone has the same apps as my Arc, actually minus few of them.
No autosync etc.
Basically it drains the battery quick, it's unacceptable. It behaves exactly like one of the older Arc firmwares, which was also draining battery like crazy.
Than they fixed it and it's still brilliant. My Arc on Flight Mode beeing just a backup in case of any problems, runs 3rd day on one charge, still 75% left.
I think S is just not optimized and it makes me mad.
Just got My XS yesterday I did one fully charge this morning . Turned off data at home, will not know until battery is fully charged by a few cycles. I love the phone irrespective of the flaws. I think may be see in a week or 2 where my battery settles.

You can use Profile Scheduler (free from market) and set a schedule.
I've set the schedule in which the airplane mode will be activated at 12.00 am and turned back to normal at 6.00 am.
By this way, my phone battery drains overnight just only 2-4%.

Do you know what? It irritates me reading you people moaning about battery life, it's a high definition phone with an awesome screen, if you want your battery to last a few days, go get a cheap phone that does nothing but txt and calls
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
I actually agree with that tbh, and another thing is battery life all depends on how the individual uses their phone.
I had the sgs2 and alot of people said oh the battery life is rubbish but yet they had:
screen brightness on 100%
3g, wi-fi, bluetooth always on
live wallpapers running.
Plus they were using the internet for like 2hours
sending numerous emails
playing games
listening to music
I mean come on its a phone at the end of the day, its not a super computer or something or some nuclear powered device.
I nearly 2 days out of my sgs2 under moderate - quite heavy usage
because I turned my screen brightness all the way down
didnt leave 3g, wi-fi, bluetooth on all the time only when i needed to use those features, i never used live wallpapers and i dont send numerous emails.
when i had the play again people said the battery life was rubbish but again i got about 1day 10hours or a bit more sometimes based on the above mentioned info.
so as long as my SXS last 1day even I dont mind that because at the end of the day it has a HD screen so its going to use alot of power.
Okay so on my third day with the phone...
my battery is fine, actually...more than fine. I turn off my wi-fi/bluetooth/gps when not needed, and I don't run my battery heavy apps for a long time.
I also installed a task killer...I know it's in theory not needed, but I will see how it goes.
woke up around 7 today, used my wifi, used a battery intensive app (dream zoo , it's an addiction) for like 15min or so. Went for a walk, used the camera...a LOT, made a lot of panorama pictures. It's now almost 11:15 and i'm only down less than 15% I believe.
It's got much better battery usage than my X10 to be honest...but this is a high-end full HD phone, I wasn't expecting my battery to last so well D:
I will update again at the end of the day about how low it got, but I am pleased with it.

I dont get it.. I got the phone 3 days ago, but if Im lucky, the phone lasts for maybe 6-7 hours?
It gets extremely hot when used in couple of minutes, and its like the battery is drained by something hidden.
On a night it loses about 6-7% in 6-8 hours of standby with data etc turned off
I have turned push, sync, NFC, smart screen and all that "smart" stuff off.. so I have no idea bout what drains the battery. Even the screen is on 50% and auto -_-
I have the korean version (I think?) the european version - bought in Denmaek, stock. Not rooted or anything - but is it possible to root the EU/KR edition or is it only for the Canada/Sprint edition?
Same for me. Hes obviously not using hes phone much and not on LTE.
The battery life of G on LTE is really terrible.
By the way mo on arent hot last days, probably they fixed it.
Web via LTE eats like 15%-20% per hour, reading a book on small bright is 3%-4% per hour

Battery life is consistently around 11.5-13 hrs with moderate to heavy usage.
My battery is crap too sometimes is ok ..
but it is just screen what drains .. and + if u browsing internet and u have flash enabled it is big drainer added .. needs more cpu power..
if u put mobile on eco mode turn down screen to 25%-30% turn all radios off u should be fine
download apps like battery calibration . or battery stats or juice defender

I'm really not an expert at this. I have also just opened my Optimus G, so I can't share my personal experience with this phone. However, the battery of my Lumia 920 needed around a week to function properly. The first three days I got heating and drain, almost 10% per hour, but now the phone lasts easily for two days with light usage. I was looking everywhere on different forums for hidden factors draining the battery, until I found a comment, where someone described this phenomenon: he said that a battery needs around 12 full cycles of drain and full recharge before optimal performance can be obtained. So from now on I will be more patient.
Then again, I'm new here, so other opinions are welcome.

I mean if you leave your phone off most of the day with your wifi and data turned off it will drain very slowly..
I find the biggest drain is always screen, cellular connection especially when you have poor signal, and wakelocks.

Phone idle refers to the amount of battery cell radios are using up when the phone is sleeping. I would recommend moving to an area with better reception and disabling data when unneeded.
Data is disabled (and wifi).
battery life is fantastic, i get roughly 5 hours on screen time, when i finish work i have 70 - 80% battery with 1.5 hours screen time
My battery life on CM.
Disappointed kinda, expected great improvement compared to stock rom
After few weeks of heavy usage, I am noticing the battery performance to improve considerably, I'm running stock 4.1.2. V10D
Does anyone know of a better battery that will work with the zl.
As we all know this phone really suffers from poor battery life and overheating. I've managed to solve the overheating problem by flashing miui v5 and have it undervolted @ 987mv @ 1512mhz with doomkernel and kernel tuner, the phone is very cool now compared to before. However battery life is still dissappointing lasting only 10 hours a day dropping 10% every hour with light/moderate usage. Onscreen time it will die within 3 hours
So I wanna open it up and put a better battery so I can use a different rom cos miui is very restricted imo. xposed framework doesnt really work well with it.

Stock firmware gives me 4,5 hour screentime MINIMUM! So its NOT as we all know. It's your phone and your apps. You can buy new battery for xperial ZL from aliexpress.com. Not many vendors though, but its pretty cheap.

after three years of extensive usage, my battery has now reached the end if its life. It now dies at around 30%- 40%. I tried battery calibration but it works only once. after a full 100-0% run, the next run dies at the same 30- 40% level. I have been monitoring voltage via ampere app. when it reaches 30- 40 % range, the voltage drops significantly from 3.5 to 3.2 and below and shut off abruptly. also, now during heavy usage, battery temp goes up to 50 C.
Does this mean the battery is completely worn out? or something else may also be bad?
anybody else with 2-3 years of use notice the same?
and if the battery is at fault here, can someone suggest me a link where can i buy one?

Same here, phone shuts down around 40% and whats worse is that the battery has deformed and pushed motherboard up causing a lot of problems. My ZL USB port short circuited blowing smoke and now won't boot up at all. Tested the battery and got voltage around 2.8V, which means safety triggers won't let me charge it
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the ZTE Axon 7 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
One of the better SOT phones I've owned since coming from smaller 4.5 inch screens. I easily get 4 hours on a long day (16 -18 hours off the charger). I watched 2.5 hour movie the other day and did some more stuff. In 8 hours, I had over 5 hours of SOT with 47% battery left.

How are you measuring SOT? I can't find it in the stock battery stats.

GSam battery monitor.
There is a free version and a paid version, not sure which one this is but it'll get you close: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm

Does better battery stats require root? Does it read system stats or does it create its own?

I don't like gsam because it doesn't read the SOT from the system. It records it's own stats.
GSam battery monitor allows you to see the stock android battery stats and screen on time from there by going to the menu on the bottom right, clicking more and then Battery Use - Built In. If there is an easier way to get to stock android battery stats, I'd love to know.

"BetterBatteryStats is calling the "batteryinfo" service of Android to retrieve data already lying there without generating overhead" and no it doesn't need root

This is exactly what I want. Sweet!
My first not-at-home day, I averaged just under 5hrs SOT in a 14 hour day.

What settings do you guys have setup? My battery is down to 27% after only 8.5 hours off the charger and not much video watching. How do you have your phone setup concerning gestures and everything? I use the fingerprint unlock and the double tap feature and so far I am not impressed with the battery.
What settings are you using? I'm barely getting10hrs of battery

Nothing special, really? It's basically stock, I just disabled some stock apps: Browser, calendar, stock email, Gmail, Hangouts, and stock messaging. Everything else is left alone.... I even installed the actual Facebook app (aka: battery eater) for the first time in a few years, since my battery can keep up now.

You either have very bad wakelocks or you've got a LOT of screen on time.

No screen on time. I am in an area where I get no service and was using WiFi, so today I turned on Airplane mode and then WiFi and it seems to work a lot better. though I still need to investigate is battery drain is bad when using the phone in normal service area.

Sounds like wakelocks to me
This is the best phone I've owned in terms of battery life. With nova launcher and using nova's battery widget I can see my SOT. I average 5:30 which is alot for me. I have gotten as much as 6:40! This is all usually over 12-28 hrs. The phone is just phenomenal, just wish the camera was better.

I would believe it. I got about 5 hours in my last run. What I think ate up about 20% was listening to music through the speakers.. The phone drained faster than normal Witt the speakers on at max volume.. Which makes sense and is 5000% tolerable because how amazing they sound.
Furthermore, if I could get some stronger cell phone signal, that would help with screen on time too. I never have no signal, but I never see over two bars of signal either.
Sorry about double post.. Forgot to include second one..
Ok, I thought this was a battery beast but I think I was wrong. I don't expect any phone's battery indicator to be totally accurate but I've noticed that if I top the A7 up a little the battery doesn't drain *at all* for a long time. I've been letting it go down to 30% then topping it up to 40% where it stays without moving even while I'm streaming music and surfing for half an hour. Fishy.
I thought that as I was on about 3:30 sot at 40% I'd let it go down further to see if it would reach 5 hours. Three charging cycles in a row the phone has hit 19% and then reported that it's empty and shut down.
