Aftermarket battery - Sony Xperia ZL

Does anyone know of a better battery that will work with the zl.
As we all know this phone really suffers from poor battery life and overheating. I've managed to solve the overheating problem by flashing miui v5 and have it undervolted @ 987mv @ 1512mhz with doomkernel and kernel tuner, the phone is very cool now compared to before. However battery life is still dissappointing lasting only 10 hours a day dropping 10% every hour with light/moderate usage. Onscreen time it will die within 3 hours
So I wanna open it up and put a better battery so I can use a different rom cos miui is very restricted imo. xposed framework doesnt really work well with it.

Stock firmware gives me 4,5 hour screentime MINIMUM! So its NOT as we all know. It's your phone and your apps. Mine lasts a good day with more then moderate/light use. 13 hours with 75% left at the moment and 1 hour 10 min. screentime. Wifi always on. When out of house, 4G/LTE always on. NFC constantly on. So its you. Not your phone.

22,5 hour on single charge. 4,5 hour screen time. 8% left. I can't see your problem.

Yes you are correct, Im using paranoid rom and battery life has improved a lot. I also found that heavy undervolting uses more battery life. I'm new to android so didn't know this. What roms are you guys using exactly?

battery life
So? is there any after market battery?
heres my battery life, can someone help me?

I get around 15 hours with the stock rom. I switched to existenz but i havent tested it yet.
And i really want to change the bat.
If there was a way to put a LiPo 3000mah in this thing...

aliexpress.com
You can buy new battery for xperial ZL from aliexpress.com. Not many vendors though, but its pretty cheap.
I ordered mine and it reached from China to India safely in around 1 month. Seems good and genuine, but have not tried it yet. As others have said, it may not be a problem with the battery at all and changing battery wont do any good. Check if its really a battery problem or not.

i also ordered one from ebay it says made in japan now its working smooth and giving me extra 3-4 hours of battery life

after three years of extensive usage, my battery has now reached the end if its life. It now dies at around 30%- 40%. I tried battery calibration but it works only once. after a full 100-0% run, the next run dies at the same 30- 40% level. I have been monitoring voltage via ampere app. when it reaches 30- 40 % range, the voltage drops significantly from 3.5 to 3.2 and below and shut off abruptly. also, now during heavy usage, battery temp goes up to 50 C.
Does this mean the battery is completely worn out? or something else may also be bad?
anybody else with 2-3 years of use notice the same?
and if the battery is at fault here, can someone suggest me a link where can i buy one?

Same here, phone shuts down around 40% and whats worse is that the battery has deformed and pushed motherboard up causing a lot of problems. My ZL USB port short circuited blowing smoke and now won't boot up at all. Tested the battery and got voltage around 2.8V, which means safety triggers won't let me charge it

I just reset the battery log or whater it is called in recovery and will recharge. Is there anything else I should look at. I am already running setcpu profiles with the profiles suggested in the thread. Is there anything else I should do?

If the battery is literally brand new remember that most lithium batteries have a "work in phase" where it will take a few days and power cycles to work to optimal battery life. Give it a week and see fi you still have the issues, If you do then the battery wasnt the problem and something else is causing a battery drain.
If it makes you feel better i have tried EVERY battery tip trick etc in this forum just about and i still get no where near the battery life 90% of the long life users get.
I have never used their batteries but looking at batteryboss they seem to not live up to what they are supposed to.
On my evo the first 10-15% of my battery drops super fast but evens out after that, I am using stock Battery with Fresh 1.01 and kernal 26 running cpu at max of 922.
I think the batteries are worth it. The one in my palm treo would last a few days compared to stock. I think this one just needs to be broke in hopefully.
The Evo does NOT trickle charge batteries. It charges them to 100% and then shuts off until the battery hits around 90%. Then it turns back on and brings it back up to 100%. This is the reason your battery drops 10% really fast, and then lasts for a good long while.
Total fail on HTC's part. They put a lot of stupid into this phone for how long they've been making phones...

Your HOX battery life experience?

I see countless comments with people complaining about battery life not being good enough in most threads, and it being affected positively/negatively by updates.
I'm aware a lot of ROMs can have a very positive effect on battery life but I am more interested in the general overview – your battery life's life if you will! The reason I ask for your experiences is that I would like to qualitatively collect a bit of information from a fair few people and see what's to be seen.
It's worth noting that my latest HOX's battery life is exceptional and I believe it's down to a simple life/career change. It's really nothing new to someone who knows their fair share about batteries however I would be interested to compare.
So, list the times you wake up, take your phone off charge, put your phone back on charge, and go to sleep. If you can it would also be nice to know what your battery percentage is at certain points. It would also be interesting to know what hours you do on an average working week and in what sort of work environment (home/architect, office/marketing, shop/clothes retail etc).
If anyone can remember the things off the top of your head, even rough estimates just chuck then in the thread. I will then compare them all to my own personal habits.
Sent from my faster than SGS3 HOX.
Personally for me ICS was 4.0.4 was perfect, after update to JB it's really bad. On ICS i was loosing 1% of my battery during whole night on JB i can even loose 10% ; d. Overall battery drains faster during usage... all stock.

Fantastic. I'm more interested in people's actual habits not stats about their battery because it only tells one half of the story. Like I mentioned this is more of a qualitative approach, so less battery stats.
I should of assumed that most people would be like more yourself so I will get straight to the point.
I have the benefit of working at home which means I can charge my phone whenever. I'm not forced to charge it over night; having it over charging for excessive amounts of time. I charge mine in the day and as a result I'm conscious when it hits 100% – I then unplug it. Other than natural degradation, I doubt I have ever damaged my battery in any way which has left me with a great battery life.
I was quite interested if most people charge their phones at night, go to sleep, unplug their phones when they wake up etc. This will severely accelerate the degradation of the battery.
well for me, ICS was bad...im using custom rom and various kernel to see which has the best battery life...all bad accept ncx 0.99....well some of the time its ok but some not...the battery percentage in ICS if not using will stay at 1% but for a 5 minute use, it will drop 10%...but amazingly, if you keep using in screen on, wifi or whatever, it will not drop that fast, well for me its ok....but now i have updated to JB still in stock, and the battery life is great.. i have watch HD movie using MX player in 2 hour and only drop 20%....when in ICS about 80%...big difference....i think stock kernel is best...
Well for me it's decent i mean yes it could be better but it's okay... heres my usage: i take it off the charge around 10 am when i wake up or so and it's off the charge till the next day morning with avarage 45-50% battery left and screan on time avarage 2:30 hours - 3 hours, sync with FB , hotmail and weather is On all the time as well is the wi-fi even when i sleep, my reception aint so great tho , around 2-3 bars top 4, 2g network, anyway my tops on the screan time would be around 6 hours with around 30% brightness idk how that guy managed to achive 6hours 20 mins on a single charge on medium brightness , could be jelly bean or maybe partitial charges ( i'm on ics btw ), anyway hox battery aint so bad as ppl may think, besides if you're lucky enough you'll get hox + battery into your hox ( 2100 ma ) which should provide avarage 6 hours + screan on time, tho i bet we could get around 8 with that battery. Hope this helps.
Ive got arhd and i got to say Im happy with my battery life, first I wasnt, when I went through a couple of charge cycles it got better and better. Now I can do 3.5 hours on screen time playing games and use it for atleast 24 hours with a mix of everything with watching videos to on the bus lol. So mines has been really good.
Battery has been pretty bad on any ROM. Now that I have ICJ421, my battery is near perfect. Yesterday I got 14h with 3h22m Screen On time.

G Pro Kitkat Battery hogs

is it just me or is the kitkat ROM really sucks----battery pretty well?
I also notice that the CPU usage does not drop to 20 percent idle but when I used other ROM (JB based) it becomes 5 percent.
RAM usage is good but I think it hogs the CPU. I used cpuz on measuring the cpu usage

Where can I get the JB rom for OGP?
For me, Android was best at JB and went backwards with KK.
Yes, I've noticed absolutely horrible battery life with KK. KK just feels like it is several different parts all just thrown together.
The only reason I think is that theoretically JB uses more battery is that the system uses more voltage than the kitkat. however, what's less voltage use if the CPU is always busy and wakeups are just everywhere.
Hi guys, maybe you could post in some battery stats so we could know more about whats draining your battery in particular and suggest some fixes. I've actually experienced the opposite with kitkat-battery life for me improved. There was even an instance that I got the phone to last 30 hours, with 5 hours, 48 mins. screen. On another instance I got 15 hours life and 5 hours 25 mins screen on. I just lost the screenshots as I had to reflash stock when i was doing some G3 mods., but nevertheless i could post some new ones.
I value batter life was well and i'm curious to see how yours could be improved too..

What a battery life. 15 hours screen time?
how can we accurately measure? because I only use CPU-Z and installed DS battery saver to save power. right now it only used 2% of my battery during the night. (from 1:45 - 5:50am)
I see. can you tell me what app should I use to determine CPU usage of each app/service?

No, my battery lasted 15 hours, and my screen-on time (total time i spent using the phone) was 5+ hours coz i basically used my phone then for gaming the whole day I suggest you download gsam battery monitor app (it also has a temperature_bat. Usage graph), as well as wakelock detector. Another alternative would be better battery stats. What you would need to observe would be the apps and wakelocks draining your battery both when you are using your phone, and also when its idle.
I also notice that battery capacity is 2A in which it should be 3.140A right?
this shows on kitKat but on jellybean, it's 3.140A again.
is there something wrong with the detection of battery capacity?

What happened was that in kitkat, the permisssions required to be able to access battery stat files changed. Thus, apps w/c could freely access the batter stats in JB cannot gain complete access in Kitkat. This is the case for some battery monitor apps w/c now have lesser accuracy in reporting battery. No worries though, as there are means to bypass this problem. If you have xposed you could install a module for this. Also, some apps like gsam battery monitor come with a separate root companion app. Once you install those batter stats will be accurate.
Here's a screenshot of my battery stats for today..might not be 5+ hrs of screen on as i did a lot of rebooting today (themed with g3 tweaksbox). Nevertheless, this is just to show that kitkat has the potential to provide good battery life. Also enclosed is a screenshot of one of the battery apps i use, gsam.
Hey everybody! I have some findings I absolutely must share so you can benefit as well.
I've been doing some tinkering and I've find a way to significantly increase battery life on the OGP.
First thing you'll want to do is put your phone into airplane mode.
Second, turn your screen brightness down as low as it will go. I mean, all of the way down.
Third, don't play any games on your phone.
Try those three tweaks and see what kind of battery improvement you get.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

Just so you know, first my cell radio and wifi were both on the whole time. Second, i was on auto brightness the whole time. Third, i played clash of clans as you see in there.
If you have not done this already, adjust your cpu to save your battery juice. Set the cpu governor to powersaver or interactive mode if you just using the phone to send msg and make calls. I let my phone run on msm-dvcs and when I'm not plug in. Check out ROM toolbox if you're rooted. Seriously folks, instead of complaint about how much the roms suck the juice, try these different ways to see they make any difference for you.

so, the battery drain is real...

I thought people were just exaggerating (i still have hope that i'm exaggerating) but man, i just got this phone and holy hell is the battery getting destroyed by "android os"
It won't even last a day with minimal/medium usage (some bluetooth and hotspot use here and there)
I'm coming from a galaxy s3 (which had better battery life).
I've tried installing a 5.1.1 rom but it seems to have no effect.
Has anyone figured out how to 'fix' this? Or can recommend a good rom (or kernel?) to get battery life representative of what i think a 3000 mah battery should be?
Thanks.

Greenify and the .97 OTA seems to provide decent battery life. Getting about 5 hours+ of SOT. Try using a separate app to see which apps are consuming the most battery and disable all the system apps you don't use.
I installed a barebones rom.
What concerns me is i had the same set up on my Galaxy S3 (5.1.1. lollipop with same apps), and the battery life on this zenfone has just been atrocious (leading me to believe 5.1.1 is not the problem, per se).
Am I wrong, did they not optimize this phone properly or something?
I do not have any issue with batery life. Mine last one day easy with medium to heavy use. Just do some charging cycles
I usually get a day with 4 to 6 hours SOT, without doing anything special to save battery
Do 3 drains to 1 % - you may find it stays longer during the lower 20% range so use a youtube film or sommat to blast it down,
then do a factory reset on the latest build.
Did this at the beginning when was only getting 10hrs max ugh !
Now easy 36hrs decent usage
I get a full days use (medium/heavy) with mine, not rooted not custom rom. I usually have about 20% left before it hits the charger. I have noticed small increases in battery life at every firmware update. I can't really complain, came from a Galaxy S5 and battery was about the same if not worst, but S5 had removeable battery. I've used a lot of smartphones and honestly, most will get your through the day and evening but that's about it, yeah, you might have some for the next day but most will through it on the charger by end of the night. My wife has the Iphone 4s and yeah, the battery lasts longer but the screen is almost half the size of mine, screen size makes a big dif.

Battery question

Guys,
can someone (2, or 3 people) post their battery estimated time left when the phone is 100% charged. I think i have a faulty one but i dont remember what was the estimated time left for a phone with good battery. I know its estimated but i have mine showing 15 hours left when 100 charged, so i think its dying again...
Someone? PLease?
three days and 20 hours, still on original battery.

Your battery is dying. Time to get a new one. There is a thread for that issue here.
Battery currently 50% and says I have approx 1day and 1hour left.(stock Android 5.1)
My GSAM Battery Monitor says I get average 1day 19hr per charge with average over 2months.
I'm on stock 5.1 with root access and have my phone tool'd up with frequency/governor management and stuff like powersave governor for screen off and etc.
Battery use is very subjective on a wide range of settings, location, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, telephony signal strength, LTE and general usage patterns, so one person's setting/use will not reflect another.
That said, one should get 24hrs easy even with over 4hrs SOT.

The Z1C battery stat's reflect the current real-time usage and project the available time left based on what is currently happening.
If your phone is configured optimally and you don't use your phone over night, it should only use approx 5% of battery.
If you use GSAM Battery Monitor you can check if any apps are keeping your phone awake, number of time your phone is woken and high CPU users.
You can check for telephony signal strength.
My phone is 100% signal strength (very good)
How much power is used to keep your screen displayed, with dimmer better.
Also you can see if your phone is in deep sleep when phone is not in use.
Over a 12hour period my phone is in deep sleep for 9hrs.
Use another phone for a couple of days and leave the Z1C with screen off for those few days.
If not used you should see over 3 days of battery life.
There is no answer to your question.
At the end of the day it's up to you to optimise your phone as best you can and base your decisions on previous battery use/experience with your known workloads.
If you're not gaming for a day or two and you have your phone as optimised as you can, then, 15hrs is crap and your battery is on the way out.

Sony Xperia Z1C Battery
Attached is a snapshot of the battery use in my Z1C running Android 5.1 stock with root access.
As noted, when the phone is not in use the battery almost flat-lines with very little use.
When battery use is almost a perfect triangle on the two axis and from 100 to 0%, then it's a good indicator the battery is failing/failed.
Replacing a battery on a Xperia Z1C ...well it sucks...to say the least :crying:
You need to add additional adhesive on the top left near the camera location as that's the area that tends to come unstuck after the back cover is replaced.
Also good batteries for an Xperia Z1C may be hard to find now.
The original batteries are marked with the manufacture date as yy-ww (Year and week[0-52])
If you find an original battery AND it DOESN'T have the NFC conductor glued on it, then you have a good chance of getting a good battery.
If the NFC conductor is glued onto the battery, then there is every chance the battery is just an old one pulled out of a previous Xperia Z1C.
Good luck.

My screen is a generic one wich must be set to 100% auto brightness.. That also affects battery, but even so i think my batt is dying...

A tube of glue and an Xperia Z1C are almost synonymous with each other these days.
I had to glue the bottom speaker cover and the magnetic charger back on again... plus the back cover several times.
Currently I have used 25% of the battery and 2hrs SOT as seen in the attached.
I get a reported ~7hrs of on screen time per 100% charge cycle.
Email, WhatsApp, web browsing using RSS in Opera Mini, Tapatalk, Shopping apps, system/file management, Youtube and etc... (No gaming nor social Facebook, Twitter, Tinder...and etc)
Deleted all Bloatware out of /system/app and system/priv-app.
Update - ..ummm.. is Clash of Clans and Battle Command gaming...me thinks not.. but maybe it is.. ..any way throw a 15min mix of that into the pot too.
If you're not using much CPU you'll get more SOT, which is why gaming is a bad indicator as it's hard on CPU and screen, unless you have a game that does not get updated anymore(known stable unchanged test environment) and you benchmarked it a few years ago.
Then you can use the same game as a good indicator for any current status changes.

2 hrs SOT is awsome for 25% battery. I got 1 hour for 100%. But it doesnt mater. I bought another generic battery yesterday (originals are almost impossible to find). So lets see what it happens after.
