hi there,
been using my htc one x for few month now since release.
i've been using gosms simply for the reason that it has emoji plugin.
i was wondering if anyone can tell me how or re-direct me to the correct thread to get emoji working across all apps via rooted system tweaks?
that works for ics4 / htc one x.
Thank you.

If you use AOKP it has emoji support
I personaly still use Handcent, for the screen-waking-popup
An app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794797
A manual method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724389
The app worked on my HTC Inspire (AOSP rom) but on my Evo Design, the app isn't requesting Superuser access. I'd try the app first, then the manual method if it doesn't work.

So you can't get it on a sense based rom?
Comes with JB. Even on Sense

Even if you add global emoji support through one of the mods linked by Simba501, you wouldn't see a nice colorful pictorial representations of the icons in all apps. you'll see a text representation like shown in this image. And to insert them you'll need a special keyboard or an app , so the experience is much poorer than using an SMS app that has built in emoji support. If you dont like GoSMS then try Handcent, that is what I use, IMO its a much better alternative than the built in SMS app or any other 3rd party SMS app out there.

I don't think so, the one they have for Sense isn't the default emoji you get. For example, like iPhone has a huge collection of it. If there's an option for HTC Sense based to display it all and also have it enabled as input to social sites (twitter/fb/instagram) then where is it?
Not as input - that's in the 4.2 keyboard (but if you're rooted you can flash the 4.2 iWinn IME)
But emojii show up. ?

Htc apps dont work with asop roms, they require the htc framework. I think someone is working on it tho

You could use Dialer One for the T9 function for contact search, its available for free on market,
doesnt look as good as the HTC one but does the T9 job
Hi all
Yes, you read the subject right
I'm about to sell my HTC Sensation and I ordered my Xperia Arc S today. One of the only things I expect to miss about the Sensation is the HTC keyboard.
Can anyone recommend a good app that will give me the kind of improved functionality over the standard Android keyboard that HTC Sense provides?
I can end up trying myself when the Arc S arrives in a few days, but I'm just excited in the meantime
Thanks all,
schnide
I'm using htc ime mod app.
That's a bit older app without of arrows and swipe gestures but works very well.
You need two lib files and two apks (clicker hi and keyb).
I use stock looking (unthemed).

Wow, it really does. Thanks!
Howdy all,
After having used AOSP ICS on my desire I quite like the AOSP dialler, much more so than the HTC one (I use recent calls mostly, I like the way it distinguished multiple contact numbers for a single contact).
I'm just wondering what files I need to swap out to make it work? I've tried replacing the phone apk and the contacts apk, both result in FC's... or do I need to have a matched pair? IE both HTC or both AOSP?
I've already swapped out the messaging app for the stock ICS one without any issues at all.

It's for the One S, but I've installed the messasing apk on the HOX and it seems to work OK.
On a side note, which messasing apk did you use? the inverted black or the white aosp ?
Thanks will have a look. Shame it looks like you can't fully remove htc dialler.
I just used regular white mms. I think inverted would look weird on sense since everything else is white/light colours.

Yes please. I've found a couple of apks for the white version that actually work on the HOX, but they all seem to have issues with picture messages which causes the apk to FC.
Do you have any issues with your apk and picture messaging?
I don't use picture messaging, so can't say for sure sorry It works just fine for sms though.

Thanks.
Just tested it and it has the same issue with picture messages (although it doesn't fc, it just doesn't display them!)

How do I get the stock Android keyboard on my Renovate rom?
I wen't to the keyboard and language settings but there was no option to switch.
Could anyone help me out please? I'd appreciate it a lot!
My best suggestion would be to findand download that specific .apk. i am unsure if it can be found on the market. Or try out other keyboards.
Otherwise, i use thumb keyboard.

If I extract AndroidKeyboard.apk from CM9 or another AOSP mod will it work if I would flash it to a sense mod?

I use ICS keyboard from the Play Store.
Anyone know why or just wonder why Android still can't universally see emoji even in ICS or JB without changing font files? I'm aware that stock ICS and JB have emoji built into their srock messaging app now but why can't all ics see emoji in other apps not just text messaging?

Any rom based off of cm 10 has the support for them although not in color yet. Eventually it'll probably be added in

I have an HTC Evo rom with a messaging app that has iOS style, color emoji baked in. The rom was ported from the Galaxy anyway so I don't understand why I can't get it to work. I've only had this phone for 2 days but I feel like the Evo was so much easier.

Are you trying to flash the rom or extract the messaging apk and load it that way? It probably won't work because it's designed for the OG EVO. Sense and TouchWiz are different.

Edit: The app does work, and so does the emoji. But because the apk is different than the one that came with the rom it doesn't show up in the launcher, just the app tray. But I guess this will be my project for my first SGS3 rom.

It's messaging.apk but it was from an AOSP rom. I installed the AOKP Jellybean rom and it has native emoji in the messaging app.
