Why is there a special banner/button for the IPHONE above... If purely a sister site, can we have a sister site for ANDROID and a sister site for M$FT?
With the new ads, and this... is XDA doing okay? Want to donate to XDA, check here.
Are there plans for this to be removed once it's up and running on its own?
I know it should not bother me, but coming to this site everyday to post about Android, its ANNOYING to see IPHONE

I don't support Apple and think iPhones are retarded but I haven't quite sunk to getting pissed at seeing the name on my screen. Not quite like they are Nazi Germany or something.

The button is there so that iPhone people know exactly where to go to post about their phone (iPhone users aren't always the most technically inclined people in the world).
There's a lot to dislike about the company's practices, but you cannot deny that they put out a pretty good product and that they have spurred a *lot* of competition and innovation in mobile computing over the last decade.
I will never own an apple device, but there's no reason to go out of your way to hate a company that isn't doing you any harm.

I agree with You S15274N I had 3 I-Phones I could not stand the fact I pay for the phone and they control my technology like I am a baby. That, along with the Totalitarian marketing behavior "oh you want to add some new anything ? ...... 1.99 each plz"............Besides, the Apple followers are like Religious Zealots "Apple is my God....take my money"..... In my area we all call it "chic" phone you want something you can do nothing to but has a couple cute features.........oooohhhh then this phone is for you.

Yeah... I'm not saying I blame XDA or anything... just stating that I really hate the ONE site I spend my time on to express my passion for android, now has big IPHONE button at the top of it....

The best part is when they charge ipad lover $129 more for a 3G version,when a 3G chip cost apple like $28 dollars,but seeing how they do the same with storage space i am use to see it.
And people go out and defend it bravely without looking back,i have a friend who literately go's bla bla bla and cover his ears..lol

iPhones are the most expensive,useless, fragile phones ever.... they suck so bad....the Galaxy S phones are so much stronger and cheaper....hell the Evo has twice the power for about half the price ...
Meanwhile the iPhone is $800 and breaks as soon as it bumps against something .... jailbreaking is like a dice roll every time an update is released ... its a big waste of money like the iPad in my opinion

I look at it more like a humerous thing...that iPhone users need to be "led" to the proper place...I'm just supprised the button isn't bigger with a logo or something! I also apprecate the fact that that it's there, otherwise we might have all the "I" users posting all over the boards looking for stuff.

I wish their site had a giant ANDROID but sadly it doesn't, not even for XDA

What I find funny is the trial date, March 2014, so what's the point in a trial to ban a part that most likely won't be on the market as a new device offering which would mean sales if any would be nearly non existence. Seriously they'd have to sue for the next two models just to make 2014 a relevant model or even year.

Depends if you get a preliminary injunction or not, which, as you can see from the trial date, would be pretty damaging.
Also, half of these lawsuits are just publicity stunts. By calling the Galaxy Nexus a "copycat product", millions of idiots who haven't even looked one up just read about it and automatically assume that it is.

Because Samsung CUT on potential Apple profit and PASTED it to their bank account..

The LTE version has been a nightmare of this device. Luckily the 3rd one I received works. I consider myself lucky!
The 4G radio's in the phone do not work correctly in a large number of devices. I can only imagine how many users of this phone who do not visit sites like this are dealing with a GNEX that the 4G radio's craps out on and needs reboting to bring it back or the ones who can't even hold a 4G signal.
Let's not even touch the screen quality....

I don't want to be negative because I love my android especially my s3 but anyone know how loosing that case in court to apple is going to affect us and our s3's? One of my friends said oh just wait a few weeks and demand an iPhone 5 from your carrier. I really don't want to do that as I abhore apple products. I despise the proprietary nature of the iPhones and how inflexible they are. No expanding memory.. no ability to tweak them ...just so very utilitarian and unmanageable... so if anyone knows how this loss to Samsung will affect us I'd love to hear opinions and thoughts... thanks.!

It could would to samsung, because more people are finding out how samsung makes apple's processors, etc. In fact, that essentially in the guts, hardware wise, similar products, though the apple is like 3x more, and samsung has a better quality and price.
This ban could be temporary; the nexus was banned, but if you check the play store, its back to being sold; it has for some time now.
So in the end, will really just have to watch as it plays out. This could be 'htc move' for apple; where people were unhappy with them because of them going back on their bootloader word. This could drive more people to samsung.

Really why make another one of these threads when a few already exist..... And last I read nothing is banned as of yet.that hearing is set for sometime in Dec. And on top of that the GS3 is not one of the phones Apple is going after. Most of the galaxy s2 variants and a couple galaxy s1 are the ones being questioned.

+2, That lawsuit had absolutely nothing to do with the gs3 and will not affect us in any way. All it will do in my opinion is encourage Samsung and others to innovate more and be more creative which is good.

SAMSUNG Court Case
Well, all I have to say is...if the developers keep turning out stuff like this latest nightly, 08/31 CM10, Apple is going to sue them.
I was floored by the performance boost in the GUI and how I finally have a phone with no personal complaints I can cite.
CPU runs all the code I write fast enough for what I need, and the wireless N support doesn't suck.
On top of that, the radio on the unit works very well for voice calls, far better than my EVO does.
(My poor EVO has been relegated to displaying Weather, playing MP3's and movies as a gift to my sister.)
As for the lawsuit, I would like to remind everyone no money has changed hands yet. There is an appeal process. There _will_ be an appeal process because lawyers don't like to turn down that much cash, I can assure you.
Secondly, the last time LINUX was threatened, was SCO. A grass roots effort over a 5 year period, reduced the company to a rubble pile. Geeks like myself, have HUGE bearing on our friends and our families on what they should buy. Even the small number of geeks at the time working in the open source industry.
Now, it is an entirely different story. Open source runs the modern world now.
If Apple gets out of line, and starts shutting down product lines of companies for what could be argued as the most ridiculous legal proceedings ever, since the SCO case, we will mobilize.
We will mobilize our friends, our families, our places of work and like SCO, Apple will feel our wrath and it will wither and die as a company.
Many like myself feel this way because we understand how technology and science works, and it works by building on previous inventions.
_ALL_ companies build on previous products and technology. Apple is no exception.
If SAMSUNG copied the parts and software I could see legal validation for retribution. But the products displayed in the courtroom in this particular instance have little technological, software or GUI likeness if at all to any Apple product.
Secondly, the jury was stacked by Silicone Valley idiots, which has already been shown to have complete bias towards Apple, regardless of their beliefs of right or wrong in the said legal case against SAMSUNG.

According to anandtech the A6 is a custom design by apple like Krait is by Qualcomm. Samsung is only the manufacturer not the designer of the chip

The iPhone is a better UX. Having used both platforms, I can genuinely say I prefer iOS. Android has more features, and the openness and packability is nice, but Apple designs hardware better than any Android OEM, and iOS is perfectly nice out of the box on my iPad

Did anybody else notice apple claimed to have the thinnest phone in the world when in fact oppo has that title at 6.65mm?

[Q] iphone 5 vs samsung note 2

Hi, i have always been having this problem..I go between iis and android all the time..my hand has been customed to the note 2 already but I realky like the pic of the iphone and the other thing that gets me is that every time they do a update..every body gets it, in the ither hand android we have to wait for a wave to come out to selected phone..im just woundering..what are ur preferences in this iphone vs note 2.

I owned iphone 2G, 3G, 4, 4S, Galaxy S III and an iphone 5, now a galaxy note 2. I honestly will admit i miss the ios eco system. My entire family has iphones, and trying to group chat, face time etc is none existent on the android to apple device.
But I do love the big giant screen of the galaxy note 2! also the customizability. Its actually a lose lose for me.

I had every iphone up to the 4. Never looked back after switching.
Now, whenever I pick up an iphone, i wash my hands to make sure I don't get AIDS and use eyedrops to make sure I don't go blind from the puny screen.

there is sort of an unwritten rule on XDA about discussing Ibones, so, do yourself and every one else here a favor, and don't post about that POS on xda any more...

I can never go back to an iphone. I had the 4s and my wife still has the 4. Whenever I grab her phone for something I feel like I'm holding a watch phone or something. It's just too small. Even my friend's 5 feels way too small. On that point alone I'll never be able to return to IOS unless they release a MINIMUM of 5 inches. And even that seems not enough now. I wouldn't mind the Note 3 going to 5.7 or 5.8 inches.

Exactly ... Ex iPhone user should be allowed to answer/ask questions com pairing devices. It should be our goal as droid lover to answer respectfully and honestly without all of the nasty comments.

ios is for someone that wants stuff to work out of the box but at the same time very restricted ob what you can do basically a souped up ipod...
Android plane and simple more like a computer, especially when ubuntu phone os drops... Android you can do anything you want out of the box... lol have they even jailbroken ios 6 on i4s/I5 yet... android: has xda and many other sources developers ever met a phone we could not root and gain full access to... hmm I dont know of any... ive owned almost every android and owned every iphone except the 5... ill never permanently own an idevice lol, to nazi for me like old windows nt
