Mobile Data Warning Line - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Firstly I'm not certain if this is the correct place for this, but I was playing with the mobile data warning line, primarily out of boredom and secondarily to see if there was an upper limit as to what I could set it to. Well, it abruptly wrapped around to some minimal value to where the adjustment bar isn't currently visible. Is there some way I can reset it to the 2 GB default or manually enter a number? I've tried searching and I barely got any results (4). Rooted stock running 4.1.1 takju maguro.

Long pressing on the line opens a dialog to input a limit manually.

Thanks, that answers one question, but doesn't resolve my problem as I can't actually see the line to specify the data amount.

Did you try to set a mobile data limit?
Maybe it will adjust it then, so you can see the warning line again.

Reset Settings data in the app manager. If it doesn't work, try resetting Settings Storage's data too.

Good thought. I had tried it but to no avail.

I've reset settings data as suggested, I believe. Settings storage data wouldn't let me do anything though. Result: no change.

sorry to dig out this old thread but I have the same problem. Have you found a solution by any chance?

Sadly, I have not.

How about deleting the netstats folder in /data/system?

Just tried that. It clears the usage history of all apps, but does not reset the lines. Good thought though. I really appreciate all the assistance.

GPRS not connecting??

I have done multiple searches and have not found anything. WIFI works, but gprs will not connect, i've tried disabling proxy and everything. I am currently using schaps 3.60a and the error i get is the answering modem has disconnected to check your connection settings click setting tab. I have not seen this error before. I've flashed multiple 8525's before. I have one working perfectly fine, and this is a second one i followed the exact same steps but gprs will not work no matter what.
I'm suddenly having an identical or almost identical problem on VP3g's ROM. My Wifi connection with PIE works fine and I'm getting push e-mail delivered. But when I try to connect off WiFi as I had always done before, I get the message:
"Cannot connect with the current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings"
I've checked my settings and they seem correct and the same I always used. I've checked to see that my NoData settings were not inadvertently set wrong, but Media Net is Enabled. I've tried flushing temp files and cookies. I even tried erasing them and then reestablishing them by going online with WiFi. Finally I also tried using Opera.
Nothing works. This is maddening
The only thing strange or different is that I had set HTC Custom for temp files to be on my SD Card and when I now tried to set them on main memory (to see if somehow that might work) I get a series of error messages each time and files remain on SD.
Is it possible for the radio for gprs to be corrupt?? Or it could it be something simple as a registry edit? On the phone it is instantaneous when you try to connect to gprs it kicks back that message right away. So i know for sure gprs/edge is inop. Not sure why though.
Check with your operator
It happens to me once in a while even when the "E" shows up in the display indicating Edge abailability, but reality is that the network is down or highly congested.
chhuong I think you are right and it must be a corrupt registry entry. I know that the visible settings are correct.
It occurred to me that I have been using NODATA to turn off GPRS reception whenever I wanted to use Wifi and perhaps one of the times I set it to be disabled and then enabled it again, it must have been left as disabled even though it "says" that it has been re-enabled. Also I had a problem trying to change the cache from Main to SD, and would keep on getting errors whenever I did, using HTCustom. So probably at some point some registry corruption must have crept in. Unfortunately I've become too lazy to open the registry editor and dive in to find out where it might be.
Anyway, I finally got tired of it not working and used the problem as an excuse to move from VPG's 3.60.1 to 3.60.2. I reflashed this morning and it's been fine ever since. This time I won't use NODATA.
well actually i've tried flashing multiple roms and multiple radios, and nothing, still no gprs? So mine might be an internal fault?? Has anyone ever heard of that happening??
have you tried: start - settings - connections -connections - advanced - select networks - Media Net? Reverse it back to my network when you to use WIFI.
I've got similar problem after reflashing. Try to run Shap's Advanced configuration tool, select Connections tab and click Enable HSDPA. Don't ask me why, but it helped me to solve the problem, even there is no HSDPA available here...
I am having the same problem but i dont think its schaps rom, i think it happened either after i installed the 1.54.10 radio or after i installed the shogun cabs. If a moderator or senior could point us in the right directions, it would be much appreciated.

I tired that many times, but it didnt help, thanks anyways.
FWIW, I was able to clear this up the last time it occurred by going in to Menu > Tools > Options > Memory and clearing the History, deleting files and clearing cookies, then soft reset, and everything was okay.
Try this cab http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=54309&d=1192447925, and if it doesnt work try enabling hspda, and if that doesnt work, try calling your provider and ask them to make sure that your account is enabled for data. I tried all that, then, because i dont have a data plan, but i use pay per usage, i went to ATT's site and added a data plan. Now it works, so i think its disabled on ATT's side. [Q] internet starting on its own

hi all, i have had a look through the forum but dont seem to be able to find anything. for some reason when i reboot my phone it comes back on then my mobile data will start up if i turn the mobile data off it will start an hour or so later have turned off as many of the auto updates that i can find. any sugestions or help would be much appreciated as its starting to bug me now. thank you
Auto updates shouldn't turn on mobile data, perhaps it's some kind of bad app/process/service that is starting it.
Try installing a firewall or a data monitor app in order to see which process demands data connection.
If this doesn't help a hard reset probably will.
If it happens that you never use mobile data (I don't) you can just erase your APN settings.
thanks for the reply whats a good data monitor app any suggestions ?
Try TrafficInfo
nice one will get this installed then see who is the culprit lol
hi ya 3722 i have traffic info installed and from what its saying its the dialer thats starting up my data conection this cant be right can it ? nothing comes up under user just a few things in system and the dialer is always at the top
Hm..
Go to settings>>wireless and networks>> scroll down and see if there is a tick on "mobile network", then tap on "mobile networks" at the bottom you'll see "enable always-on mobile data" turn it off if it isn't already.
As for the Dialer demanding connection, I don't know if TrafficInfo is showing it wrong or if it's really the case, anyway you can try clearing the dialer's data and cache.
lol its still the same m8, dont worry about it i'll put up with it untill i flash RCMixHD, thanks for your help its a strange one its baffled me
Yeah sorry for not being very helpful but I am running out of ideas, and yes flashing a new rom should fix this annoyance.
running out of ideas you and me both lol, ah well time to go flash again. thanks again m8.

How do you reset data usage icon?

How do you reset the data usage? I've got unlimited data with ATT (grandfathered) and at 2 GB the warning icon came on. How can this be deleted or reset? Wow, Background data is pulling a lot!
Just tap the line which says 2,0 gb warning...the a contex pops up where U can set another limit.
EDIT: Or just hold the point at the end of this line and drag it up.
Is there an easier way then spending hours on the thumbwheel? Why couldn't htc allow users to just enter there own number?
*Edit* Found the horizontal slider. This does have me wondering about how fast the phone sucks data on LTE!
Maybe there is a better way of managing the data so the background is pulling everything all the time.

Can't turn gps/location on/off

I'm quite sure this is not a rom/gapps/kernel related problem as it used to work. The only change to my system that I can imagine having any influence is installing greenify+disable services. Uninstalling them didn't solve the issue. I'm sure it's a messed up setting somewhere but I can'tbfind it. Reflashing rom (not pristine) didn't help. If anyone has an idea where to look for the setting, I'd rather not flash pristine & have to redownload everything again.
Can't change kocation status from quick panel
Can change status slider in settings but gps not working though it's 'on'.

You can format /data from CWM or restore to factory settings (both methods basically do the same thing) to check if it's a setting issue, as it does look like one. Especially the service disabling part. That would be one thing that you can do.
Note that, with this method, you will loose contacts, calendar entries, messages, and of course, all settings (but that's pretty much the point of the formatting). You won't loose images, videos, downloads since those are saved in another places (your /sdcard0 aka internal memory or /sdcard1 aka external memory).
Another method would be to manually re-enable those services that you turned off. You can do that by either redownloading the app you were using before and undoing everything, then uninstalling the app. Or by going to Settings -> Apps -> All and doing it from there. Though I would recommend the redownload option.
The advantage of this method is, of course, that you get to keep all your data intact. The disadvantage is that, unless the redownloading of the app + undoing the stuff you've done before works as intended, you will have to go through all the processes and see which one you need to re-enable.
Reflashing the ROM without formatting at least /data, won't change anything since it's gonna keep all the settings.
I tried to retrace which settings had been changed but gave up and did a factory restore. Issue solved (though I'll probably never know what setting was messed up)

Glad to hear the issue is solved now. In the future, I would recommend avoiding disabling services, if you can't foresee the ripple effect that it might trigger or if you don't have enough experience to know exactly what can or cannot be disabled. I, for one, don't know what each of those processes do or how are they related to one another, I never messed with those things and I generally prefer to be safe rather than sorry. So, I do backups of my contacts, messages, calendar entries. In case something goes wrong at some point, even a pristine installation of the ROM won't affect the data that I consider important since I can always restore it.
But we all learn from our mistakes. So, as a general suggestion, if it's not broken, don't fix it. And usually there are different, better, safer ways to accomplish the same thing. If you feel uncertain of the odds of your success, you might consider looking for alternatives before taking a final decision and messing up your phone.
And, as usual, we're here to help. That's what forums are for. So don't be afraid to ask. There will always be someone to help you out.

Bluetooth not working after July update

My Bluetooth is completely unreliable after the last update. Volume is too soft. Doesn't connect to devices. I've tried unpairing and repairing and it stays connected for a short time, then when I try and connect again it doesn't connect.
Even the streaming is shaky.
Any solutions?
Check to see how much storage space you have left.
Part of your symptoms could be explained by low storage space.
But it sounds to me like you need to back up your data and apps and then do a factory reset.
I did a Network Settings Reset (under Backup and Reset) and lost all my wifi passwords. None of my networks are connecting automatically anymore. I'm horrified that I might have lost 5 years of accumulated wifi passwords!
Any solution?

Do you have any backups to restore from?

No and my phone is not rooted, but doesn't Google back up these Settings? Every time I set up a new phone, it downloads all my previous WiFi codes.

Only way I know of to get that info is to perform factory reset.
google restore sometimes includes keys sometimes not for me.
