Hey all, I was browsing through the Android Apps forum and found that there's a way to use Google Now on ICS. I was wondering if I could use this if I'm running the ICS Leak. I'd switch to CM9 but I too lazy to unbrick and do all that jazz :s
It may not work, but it honestly shouldn't be very dangerous to replace the apk and try it out. None of the involved files are essential to basic operation, and it should be easy revert any changes.

If I remember correctly, you can't run it on Gingerbread the way it stands right now. And since the current smali/baksmali tools don't work on ICS APKs, we can't do anything to try and change it yet.
Think he means YouTube 2.2.6 which does work on Gingerbread. It isn't worth flashing though.
ever since i've flashed jelly bean, i had an issue with my files..
for example, my photos don't show up in the gallery app,
i cant access any of my music regardless of which music player i use..
however, if i use solid explorer then i can view everything just fine.
i have searched about this but couldn't find a good explanation.. please help
Good luck, nobody yet seems to know the reason or a fix to this problem, myself I reverted to an ICS nandroid for now. Theres a couple of threads floating around in this same forum related to this issue. Look for sd card problem or something like that.

do you know if this happens for everyone on jelly bean? regardless of whether they flashed a custom jb rom or get the official ota?

All I know is mileage seems to vary.
Many users (myself included) have absolutely no problems with JellyBean.
I haven't even tried any AOSP releases yet...I only ran the OTAleak that was converted for Toro users...still no problems.
I tried the I/O leak, Bixie's first version and the latest. Everytime had the same result... missing media. -___-
The only time I got some media to show in the galery was after fixing permissions in CWR and even then most of the media didn't show up

Nope. You'll have to go back to a ROM with CWM and dload and flash HO!NO!'s CWM-Flashable v20c.
Any tutorial/walkthrough for this? This is my first smart phone. And what are my chances of bricking when i do this?

Why don't you guys just disable all that bloatware. Using the built in apps manager under settings you can disable almost all bloatware.
This is a really slick option LG has put into their phone.
I disabled:
Android Keyboard ( I installed TouchPal-my favorite keyboard)
Android Live Wallpapers
at&t hot spots
at&t Navigator
At&t address book
Birds and cities
Bubbles
facebook
finance
google play books
google play movies
google play music
google +
news
polaris office
social+
talk
today+widget
twitter
voice dialer
voice search
weather
wi-fi share
world clock
If you so choose you can also disable others suchs as maps, smart share, city id etc, all without rooting and I've had no problems with reboots etc and have seen battery life increase.
I know there is a post on how to get Google Now from JB on your phone, but there is also a handy zip format that works great for inexperienced android users or those that don't want to tinker too much with their working phone program info (like me). It can be found on the link below, I am using the mikey6_offline version and it is flawless. Give props to the OP of that thread if you use it!

+1
I've been using it for days without problems. Love how it utilizes JB voice and not ICS like older Google Now flashables.
works great
asop only? running this rom
[NEW][ROM] tFH13_v0.1.0 w/AGAT_v0.4.5 and tREC_v0.2.2 8/18/12

Hey guys, just quick request on my part. I was wondering if anyone could upload the stock Samsung apps (specifically s voice and memo) for cm10. The only link I found to them anywhere was a drop box that had been removed or deleted at some point.
Thanks much

The stock Samsung apps require the TouchWiz framework and will not work on CM10.
In the other thread I found it seemed to be working for the other guys. But isn't Google now supposed to work in essentially the same way? Although googles servers are on the fritz right now
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Do you mind linking me to the thread? I know most stock features like Smart Stay and the wave hand over phone won't work on CM10 and when I originally did my research before flashing CM9 I was told very specifically that most of the stock Samsung apps were built into the TW framework.

From July but it seems like s voice was hit or miss from the responses

I vaguely remember that thread. I think there were so many bugs and things going on people just gave up trying to force it to work. If you're just interested in S-Voice and Memo try searching the Play Store. You won't get the exact apps, but I'm sure there's similar apps that have the same features. And now that Google Now is working on CM10, I really don't see too much of a point in S-Voice.
