Google Now in zip for CWM - ICS - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I know there is a post on how to get Google Now from JB on your phone, but there is also a handy zip format that works great for inexperienced android users or those that don't want to tinker too much with their working phone program info (like me). It can be found on the link below, I am using the mikey6_offline version and it is flawless. Give props to the OP of that thread if you use it!

+1
I've been using it for days without problems. Love how it utilizes JB voice and not ICS like older Google Now flashables.

works great

asop only? running this rom
[NEW][ROM] tFH13_v0.1.0 w/AGAT_v0.4.5 and tREC_v0.2.2 8/18/12

Does it finally use native speech recognition?

Are you talking about Google Now? Because that works fine for the inc2 just no mic support. Its running fine on aeroevan cm9 with v10 kernel here

The new voice assistance added into JB, i was wondering if it was possible to be ripped / spliced with ICS
Exactly like rshift said, there is a version for ICS, but it's not optimized whatsoever. Some but not all cards work, and I'm yet to receive a notification fro doing things outside of the house.
To top it all off, no, the voice input and Text to Speech are still broken because of what they think is a kernel issue, so don't expect anything useful/different from your normal Google Search until we get a Jelly Bean port of our own.
However, if you want to try it for yourself, go ahead and look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
The instructions are pretty straightforward, but make sure to create a backup like it says in case something goes wrong.
Google will definitely have to release this for ICS. How many people will even have a phone on 4.1 in the near future.
I just booted up a working version of 4.1 and was super sad to see that Google Now wasn't working yet...But they are working hard to get it going!

What he said.. Each are varying with what works and what does not. I am running CM10 on my main phone, its not bug free but I dont have any huge major issues. CM9 improves on some things but not everything. The only ones I would personally call rock solid are the CM7 builds.
Want stable use phone daily for nav and tether also what's best way to backup my Rom now ?

You're not being very forthcoming with your setup. Assuming you are already rooted...You can back up apps with titanium backup. You can back up the rom with your recovery (cwm, twrp, ext, etc...). For nav, any rom will do. For tether, it depends on if you want to use the built in CM tether, or a market app. I believe the CM7 roms have the built in tether working. CM9 and CM10 may require the use of an app like barnacle for tethering. Stability is in the eye of the beholder, but generally the CM7 roms will be most stable since they have "better" kernel source.
My real suggestion...spend some time reading around the threads because you are the only one that can really decide what will work best for you.
Okay sorry I was not very specific but yes I am rooted on android 2.3!4 and I just want make sure I have a good alternative to stock maybe with better performance to keep my itch for a new phone away

You could forgo CM all together and try UKB, its a great ROM and Nitsuj keeps it up to date.....

CM10 unofficial
I have always been a CM fan from my OG Droid days.
For backing up I tend to allow google to keep my apps up to date after a fresh install. (I feel like google owns me at this point anyway) I dont use Titanium much now. I do back up my SMS messages though with SMS restore.
For the Inc 2 i think CM9 is fairly fast, has FFC, is mostly stable, and i WAS able to tether with the stock app. A good option
But I use CM10 consistently at this point because 1. It is visibly faster than CM9 and 2. I am now hooked on google now. Its pretty awesome even though i have seriously considered reverting back to CM9 for the FFC (google hangouts and skype video calls worked for me well)
I would check out aeroevan's v13 kernel and 20120821-unofficial for a good option.
Okay I now a lot about Android but I'm lost for a second now what is ffc ?
Sorry I got it now
Okay so yes I just need to have everything backed up with my stock Rom
Anyone ever used uniflash ?

CM
If you want absolute stability and everything to work (including proper audio and camera) I would recommend cm7.2
If newer features like google now matter more, I would use cm10, aeroevans build is getting very good. Some issues with audio, with some workarounds, there are details in dev forms here and on rootwiki.
I still use cm7.2 because the audio is perfect, which is important to me, and the battery life is far superior at this point.
Thank you sounds good!

[Q] All Share cast and macks 4.0 compatibility

Im currently running macksROM 4.0 progression L900VPALJC, 3.0.36-persius-alpha29 (kernal) on my sprint SPH-L900.
I just received my shinny new toy the Samsung All Share cast wireless hub. , My plans are to run my phone on my tv via said new toy. Problem is that they are not recognizing each other. Since this is my first rom I have ever flashed, need a little advice on how to proceed.
I am thinking that because of the rom that I have this is the problem they are not syncing. Any search for team veritas or macks rom I get from this site, the links are to threads that are gone.
1. Should I remove the rom and go back to factory data reset. (I really like this rom and want a solution to keep it)
2. Anyone have a link to macksrom 4.0 support?
3. Is there another rom proven to work fine with the All Share Cast?
I could be wrong, but I believe only stock rom supports it atm.

[Q] How do I get all apps for Multi Tasking on build MC2

I apologize if this question is already been asked, what I'm asking to see if anyone has has found a way to get all apps for multitasking for the build number mc2. I have already Google searched plus I already made a search here on XDA and still found nothing. I will be highly appreciative if someone could help direct me in the right direction with a link on how and what to download to do it. I am also running a stock rom Odexed. Thank you in advance!!!
I was able to get this (along with several other mods) using xposed

What's that? I kinda wanna stay on the same ROM if that's possible.
I went back to Google and searched again, this is what I found:
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-hack-apps-into-multi-window-mode-on-galaxy-note-2-50011004/
I'll report back later to say if it works or not.
Yep. I just used the xda threads, but that looks the same process.
Im also on stock rooted and have used xposed to implement several mods. Great tool!

ParanoidAndroid 4.3 Questions

I'm posting this here because the PA4.3 thread has been closed and I don't want to clutter the 4.4 thread asking about an old rom.
I've been lurking for awhile. I have experience with rooting/flashing plenty on the Evo4g (including some AOSP). On my Note 2, I've stuck to TW roms on my Note 2. Im looking to hop into the AOSP world and I think this is the ROM I want to try (the kitkat version doesn't have features/stability from what I've read). However, I have a couple questions.
1) Of course I will nandroid my TW rom. If I decide I want to go back, is it as simple as restoring my backup? Or are there additional steps going from AOSP back to TW nandroid?
2) I see various versions/builds & kernels listed in this thread? Can someone please suggest a reliably stable build/kernel for me to start out with that has everything working?

Hey, I've been running paranoid 3.99 for a while and it has great battery life, even on stock rom, you can use plasma kernel with it or Devil kernel, your choice, flash the latest stable and you should be fine, also look for the SD card restore zip if you ever go back to TW you are going to need it, its buried in to the cm 10 thread just look for it, also make sure you get stweaks from play store and if you have issues send me a pm and I will be glad to help you, good luck!

Do I NEED an external sd for AOSP? And if I use a nandroid to restore, would I still need the SD card restore zip?

Let me know what file you need and I'll upload it to my dropbox, you don't need a SD card, just get the room zip in the root of your internal SD, wipe or do a factory reset in twrp/cwm flash the zip and gapps... Reboot... Do the initial setup and restore your apps or start from scratch if you prefer... Good luck!

I would need whatever zips are needed to go from AOSP to TW. And also a quick step by step on what order to flash to go back. I appreciate your help!

1. Make a backup of your current setup in twrp
2. WIPE data, system, cache and dalvik (factory reset)
3. Flash aosp rom and gapps package
4. SET IT UP...
TO RESTORE:
1. Backup your aosp setup...
2. Do the recommended wipes
3. restore your nandroid TW backup...
4. Flash this zip: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ee1s03ev246rpx/restore-sdcard-after-downgrade.zip
5. FIX PERMISSIONS
6. Reboot and enjoy...
To restore back to aosp do the recommended wipes and fix permissions once the restore is done... Good luck!

Only question I have so far - is there a way to get the Sprint VVM for this?

You should be able to find the apk, I don't use it personally, I prefer the Google Voice integration, just for voicemail...

I've been messing around with GV. Is there a way to disable the email & text notifications?
3 notifications is a bit much for my taste lol
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
You can disable it in the website...
Thanks. I'll have to check that out in the morning
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Another issue that I've run into that could be a deal breaker. I use Good For Enterprise for my work email. It seems to have installed fine. But I'm not receiving any of my notifications for that. Do you know of any similar issues?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Disregard. Appears to be working now.
Also disabled the extra gv notifications too.
2 more questions though -
1 -when opening a window through notifications, is there a quick way to switch to full screen?
Can the pie menu be edited? I used it on two as a quick launch for frequent apps.
Thanks for your help
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Figured out the pie thing (or at least a suitable workaround).
Still trying to figure out an easy way to go from Floating Window to Full easily.
