no root on cm7.2 :( - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

hi everyone,
yesterday i wanted to install v6 supercharger so i updated busybox with an app from the play store. but the installation failed and i dont have root permissions anymore. i downloaded many zips to flash them from recovery but nothing changes...
the files in bin and xbin are there, no file is missin...
what should i do? i dont want to flash a new rom because i cant make backups with titanium. maybe i should install the same rom again but without wiping data?

How do you know there is no root? It's almost impossible

Maybe open superuser app select info and update binary

because the superuser app is installed and the su binary is "v2.3.2-efgh (0)".
for example when i want to create a file in /system the "superuser dialog" apears and i confirm but i cant create a file because the the console emulator tells that i dont have permissions (i hope you can understand it ).
also i cant update the binary. it fails because i dont have root permissions...

Re-Flash rom :-?

you'd better reflash the ROM without wiping

Cant delete the bloat

Hello all, I have rooted the phone and installed "no bloat" from the play store. I try to delete all the bloat apps..such as play books, but it fails to delete even after i grant it su acess.
What could be wrong?
I am running stock ics ( i find it better for me than cm9 at the moment)

I suggest trying Titanium Backup and seeing if there is a difference. It has helped me remove any bloat I did not want on my phone on many roms, including stock rooted ICS.

What's your root app: Super SU or Superuser?
Also how did you root? Flashing the Root.zip file in CWM?

You are getting the super su prompt when launching titanium backup, correct? I've heard some issues with some people not having full root privileges on the stock rom. Try running a darkside cache wipe (in the dev section), reboot phone, and try again.

Please be sure to run the CACHE wipe and not the actual system wipe. Hope this resolves your issue.
download this app called root uninstaller. its so easy and free. i use this app instead because it only does one thing, which is delete any apps on your phone. system apps bloat apps and regular apps. keep it simple.
Could also be su issues. You could try to go in and delete the permissions and try again. Probably an issue with root though. could try a root check, dl updated bb and su, or just start over.
Thanks for the help everyone so far.
I went back to stock gb and rooted. Deleted the bloat
Thanks again!

Why are some of my Apps unable to gain root access?

I am running AOKP JB B1, just like suddenly, some of my Apps like DX tool box and DX power booster can't gain root access anymore, but other apps like root explorer work fine, I tried to update supersu and binary, no good.
Then I thought maybe I screw up the system because lots kernel flashed, so I just reflash AOKP JB B1 with full wipe , but still no good...
Could it be application compatibility problem or something wrong at my end?

Just a guess but some apps look for Superuser.apk to confirm root access. If your ROM has SuperSU.apk as SuperSU.apk that could be the issue. When I flash a ROM with SuperSU I always change the name to Superuser.apk.

a. update your busybox, use stericsons busybox updater from the play market. open the app, update busybox.
b. open your superuser or supersu app and make sure that your binaries are updated and that root is enabled. superuser has known issues with jelly bean.
c. if aokp has an optional root or no choice, enable root.

Lost Root/SU

I know this is in the wrong section, but I need immediate answers, so bear with me here!
I am running PA 1.5A and have been rooted for months. Suddenly a few days ago however, I noticed apps were getting denied superuser permission, and I tried uninstalling all updates then updating, but it didn't work. I can't even try to reinstall busybox because it won't let me
HELP! Thanks!

How to change SuperSU to Superuser?

Im currently running JMT which uses SuperSU. I would like to use Superuser. Ive tried just flashing Superuser, but how to remove SuperSU?
I posted this in the ROM's thread, but never got an answer so hoping someone here will know
Delete the Superuser.apk in the ROM (it's really SuperSU) and pull the "real" Superuser.apk from somewhere else.

Um, even easier...
Download SuperUser recovery flash zip and while still inside Android on device go to file manager open /system/apps and delete the SuperSU.apk
Now restart to recovery clear the cache and dalvick cache
choose install from SDCard
Find where you downloaded SuperUser.zip and flash
Restart
SuperSU is WAY better at handling Super User requests [for instance, it has a wait state on the pop-up where it does not go quite as fast so some apps that take a min to request super user and another min to display the pop you aren't already at 1 - 2 seconds] and for instance for quite some time Super User was known to seg fault [basically an error happens and it doesn't work to grant access right when that happens] whereas SuperSU was created later to kinda address that and some other issues in SuperUser [not saying SuperUser is bad it is updated and does it's job, it's just SuperSU does it better].
Just if any guide says use SuperUser just replace SuperUser with SuperSU when doing something and in app drawer just look under SuperSU for it's app and not SuperUser.

[Q] this device does not have proper root access

hi,
I just rooted my HOX, and installed cynagenmod 10.1 , i unlocked the boot loader and install the custom rom through CWM as given on the internet everywhere , but when i try to run titanium backup it says not properly rooted, and when i checked from a root checker it says DEVICE NOT PROPER ROOT ACCESS, i read some where and download the SU bin and arm file and flashed them through CWM in recovery mode , and also flashed the bin first and then the other other file , but when i run TB it gives the same error.
Please help
Thanks in advance

You need to uninstall SuperSU if you were rooted before installing cyanogenmod, as CM comes with another superuser app... SO go into your apps find superSU and uninstall it

You lose installed apps, settings that you set when you started the phone, WiFi, wallpaper, texts/phone log, contacts
If you pick to back up to Google when you first set up the rom you can restore all the above apart from texts and call logs.
