GO SMS Pro themes not working properly? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

this is somewhat of a self serving post. I had a customer running a jb rom show me that some of my themes for Go sms pro weren't showing up properly. Could anyone help me with some testing? will compensate with some free themes. B-)
the ones that aren't looking right are any of my legacy themes and the enterprise themes.
looking for people on stock and custom jb roms.
thanks!

same problem
I've run into the same problem several times. Did you ever find out anyway to troubleshoot the issue or what may be causing it? RAM issue maybe? Some people say their screen goes blank, others says it turns a random color. Any ideas would be great. Thx.

its something to do with the market and jelly bean. both of them together cause problems. ive been emailing the apks to my customers

thanks, that was it. I sent out an apk last night and it fixed the problem. here's a little more info about the jb download issue. hopefully it gets resolved soon, sending out individual apks isn't exactly productive iwiz-vicky.blogspot.it/2012/08/how-to-fix-paid-apps-from-play-store-on.html?m=1 ...sry if it doesn't link, still under 10 posts.

GO SMS Pro Themes Jelly Bean
Hello!
I'me having a lot of issues too with my go sms pro themes. They can't be properly read from go sms pro now that they are installed into the folder mnt/asec by the play store in jelly bean .
This is the thread on google code for info:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34880
Google is not going to fix this (they said in the google code thread) although it causes a lot of problem. I don't really understand their logic.
They change that folder without saying a thing and cause this mess. Then they say that the developers need to fix this path. But the really annoying thing is that because of this only who pay the app is damaged, because who pirates it has a perfect working app.
I've written to the go sms dev team and they seemed totally unaware of the problem. I've said them they need to add that path in go sms pro in order to have themes working again in jelly bean. But I don't know if they can or will fix this.
Google is really doing a big mess with jelly bean in some aspects. This is a really bad thing and needed to be disclosed with developers before making the change.

I'm thinking they will never fix this. Google say that the application need to be fixed (in this case go sms pro) and the go sms dev team doesn't seem to mind about this problem. All their themes now are Getjar "FREE" or in-app buy. So they really don't care about all the customers of their older themes or about all the other dev that can't add their theme as an in-app purchase.

CyanogenMod 6.1 issues??

I want to root my slide, and flash cyanogen but before I do I would like to know what are some flaws in this rom one that I know its that the BT doesn't work, what are some other known major issues??
P.s: Does the Cyanogen rom still have the balck themed swype, or swype at all? Thank you for yalls time and answers.

Swype isn't free anymore. The black themed one was on stock. I've been theming the latest Swype but pushing it off until after my FE exam.
I haven't encountered any problems at all with this one.

i would love you for making swype look like the stock one we all had
Makes me sad swype isn't on cyanogen . Where can we get it? Swype has spoiled me.

I have googled "swype.sdk" enough times to tell you that there's no easy way to get it without getting a trial version that eventually expires. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, but I'm waiting for that glorious day when Swype releases an apk on the market for everyone.
As for the issues with CM 6.1, I've been running it for about a week. The only issue I've heard about is that some people experience lower than average call volume or lower than average volume on Skype.
The only issue I've had is the Market and set-up is a little buggy/laggy if you're on Wi-fi only (as in, no cell phone service). Otherwise, it seems to be a very solid and fast Rom, and I highly recommend it.

You might try swype.apk not sdk. I don't think swype has a software development kit (sdk) because it's an app not an os or operating platform. Just google swype.apk and you'll find it.
Just a bit of a warning - Do Not Post It On XDA. The reason it's not included in Cyanogenmod ROMs is the same reason you can't post the swype.apk on XDA.

Gah, I meant .apk. It was like 8 or 9am when I posted that and my brain doesn't work at that time in the morning. When the market was messing up on my wi-fi connection, I was getting apks online for stuff like Facebook and ChompSMS, so I should've known better than to put sdk.
I know you can't post it on any forums because it's a licensed product and posting links to it (or just posting it as an attachment) is considered piracy or something similar. That's probably why it's so hard to find a non-trial version. Most of the results you get from googling "swype.apk" are links to forums that used to have links to where you could download it, but the links have been removed on all of the forums (they should've just erased the threads so they'd stop showing up on Google altogether).
Personally, I'm just going to suck it up and get a trial. Better to have it for a month then not at all.

I tried, but it's not showing up that I've sent any message. You can e-mail it to me straight through the "email user" thing, I know mine is up to date with the e-mail I'm using.
As for if you're allowed to post what you posted, well I mean Swype only deals with OEMs and our phone came with it. So, in reality, you're only helping me re-install a program my phone originally came with and accidentally got "lost" somewhere ...it's totally justified.
Also, another issue I've found with CM's 6.1 is that for no reason at all my screen randomly dims. It happens maybe once or twice a day on average (some days it doesn't happen, sometimes it happens a few times). No biggie, settings>display>brightness clears that up no problem.

Yeah I have that issue too, usually when the screen is about to time out and go black. If I touch it, the screen doesn't get brighter. I just have the power widget set up so I just have to tap the brightness to do the same thing.
Or, you guys can go on 4shared, search swype hvga, download, and install.

[Q] ISC) Got an email from Google after installing ICS Beta 3!!!

Since my post count is so low I have to start a new thread for this, sorry about that.
I just installed the ICS Beta III
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
A half hour later or so I get an email from Google 'Welcoming me to my Galaxy Nexus'.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Did you happen to wander into the about section and click on system updates?

Nope, I flashed the ROM then downloaded a couple of apps from the Market as I was doing that I got the email.
All the links go to Google. I am just wondering is it something buried in the ICS code. Once you log on with your Google account it sends out a standard email to the account.
I don't really want to bother any of the dev's with it. They have enough to worry about right now without someone hassling them about something that is not that important in the grander sceme of things.
It's because the galaxy nexus is the only ICS Device with release codes for market so far. That will disappear once a more similar HTC device is released with ICS and we have a broader selection of release codes to choose from. Earlier beta's ran on test codes. They can be changed in build.prop.
Cheers man. I just could not understand it since it did not happen when I flashed the 1st and 2nd beta roms.
Thanks for posting this MrBC I also got this email and was curious about it.
I got this email as well MrBC...
Of course they can track what ROM use are using to browse android market. For example, I have recently update to Android revolution 2.3.5 and now not able to install few app which I used to have earlier on stock ROM 2.3.4.
I also got this
just ignore it lol
what i wondered was if it thinks we have a nexus why can we still not see some android apps lol
It's still beta so there are plenty of bugs. Its possible that there is a framework bug, or some component is missing. Then there is still the fact the a lot of apps on market are listed as not compatible with ICS. I'd expect it to take until 2012 before we have a fully functioning ROM and a fully working market.

[Q] Auto-converting to MMS

Hello!
I have recently moved from an HTC Desire HD (Cyanogenmodded) to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I absolutely love the phone, except for one thing:
The stock Messaging (SMS) app has the habit of converting text-messages to MMS messages, when the size is about 3-4 texts.
My girlfriend has the same issue on her HTC Desire S (un-modded), but I did not have it on my CM7'ed DHD.
Now, I have been looking into things to get this fixed, but to no avail.
I really do not want to use the 3rd party apps like Handcent op GoSMS, because frankly, I think they are ugly and bloated. I just want to use the stock app, but without the limitation.
Tonight, I have been trying to get this to work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065452
It sure seems easy enough, but after putting the app back it just kept crashing.
Has any of you been successful in editing the apk to enable larger text messages?
Thanks in advance for any reply!
Gytax.
I have the same problem..
I'm also really interested in a solution here. I've got 2,000 SMS for free but pay 30cents for a mms which i would never use due to whatsapp... Would be great if there is a tweak to turn off auto convert.
This is the main reason I'm using go SMS heh.

This is going to hurt. There is no fix whatsoever unless you root your device. Handcent is ugly and bloated. So is GoSMS.
If you go to the market and search BigSMS, that is a clean solution to the problem. It isn't an OS fix, but it's a very simple front-end that allows you to get around the problem. It integrates fully with your native messaging and is free.
Not an OS fix, but the next best thing.

My device is rooted. I tried to fix the app myself, but after compiling the app would not run anymore.
Currently, I just switch to GoSMS when the stock app says my text message is too long (hooray for copy/paste).
I have seen BigSMS already, I might give it a shot.
Thanks for your reply, anyway.

This feature is also present in Ice Cream Sandwich.
The disgusting thing about it is this... knowing what I know, there is no way that Google released Ice Cream Sandwich without a way of toggling this particular setting (the conversion I mean) which means the feature was actually REMOVED from the Messaging app, rather than pure ignorance which we've seen from manufacturers in 2.x.
Well, there is a very simple setting inside the messaging app. The app has a hardcoded limit of 4. I tried changing this but, like I said before, the app would not run anymore.
This could be because of my phone not being deodexed.
I was asking if anyone else had any experience with this, because my android modding experience is very very limited.
See this thread.

Yes, the limit is hardcoded, Some devices uses 4, others uses 3 and some HTC's use 5. The thing is, Google implemented a patch for disabling it in 2.2 Froyo. Basically not so you could change the limit, but you could enable/disable whether the conversion took place. They implemented it and major manufacturers like Sony, Samsung, HTC, decided to avoid implementing the patch. So, 2012, 2 years after Froyo, the patch still isn't present in Gingerbread 2.3.5 for SGS for example. It's disgraceful by the major manufacturers to have this little care for the users.

[Q] Voicemail notifications not working on 4.2 roms

Hello everyone,
I naively upgraded to PAC 4.2 when I was unaware of the public outcry from voicemail apparently being broken in that android version. Is anyone aware of a fix for this that pertains to the dinc2/Verizon's network?
Go back to 4.1....or ICS. Or use Google Voice.
Sent from my Skyraiding Dinc2.
I suppose I'm kind of at a loss, then... chillybean's roms were my go to source for anything 4.0+, but unfortunately, I don't think the bugs in either this version or version 4.1 of PAC are going to be fixed.
Whelp, I may not have to change ROMs just yet. I finally discovered a fix here on XDA's own forums describing the changes that need to be made to a particular config file in order to restore VM notifications (instructions are inside).
For me, I only got a notification after rebooting my phone, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Returning to The Epic! Can I get some direction?

Hello all. I will be returning to a newish epic soon...hella missed this phone. I've got tons of old files from a couple years ago but I assume there has been lots of goodness put together since my epic got trashed. I've read lots of forums, dowloaded some files, yadaya but If there is still anyone out there using or developing for the epic, can you please give me some direction. Best way to root, from what I assume will be a stock phone. (still odin v3+1.85?) Also and more to the point of my question, Roms? Best roms that actually have valid download links? Thank you for your time if anyone actually reads this

I don't know how much advice I can give about what is "best", but I can tell you what I am still using on my "daily driver"...?
I try to keep up with the CM11 "Nightlies", and so right now I'm using the latest: cm-11-20150614-NIGHTLY-epicmtd.zip
The kernel (?) I'm using: notest-epicmtd-kk4-20140401-cma.zip
I make use of Link2SD app as far as juggling space for apps.
Somewhere along the way, the stock Android Messaging app just stopped working correctly for me (couldn't compose a new message - just greyed out - never could figure out what was wrong), so I've "Frozen" the stock Messaging app and installed the (almost identical) SoftCoil Messaging app.
The stock Android browser did not seem to perform very well for me, so I went looking for a "lighter footprint" browser - right now I am trying out the "UC Mini" browser, and so far so good (?) although I still don't rely on using the browser that much, so maybe I haven't done solid testing of it...
I'm not a super-whiz at this, but if there's anything I can answer to help, I'll try. Maybe you'll have some ideas or find out some things that are more up-to-date than what I'm doing...?
Glad to see I'm not the only one posting in this "Ghost Town" these days...
(Although to be honest, I did just get the letter from Sprint about the discontinuation of the WiMax network... so the months are ticking away as for how long I will stick with this, too... soon as I buy a new phone for my lady, I will probably inherit her Nexus 4 and finally say goodbye to the beloved Epic 4G...)
Thank you very much for taking the time to share that info with me. I just got my new Epic about 20 min ago and can't wait to get some CM goodness going. I really didn't expect a reply to this at all so thank you again. I'll post again if I come across something worth sharing.
Oh also give puffin browser a try, I use it on my Tab 2 and its pretty damn fast!

Howdie!
I see you are one of the last people in this forum actively doing things. If I have an old Epic lying around that I want to use as a gaming only system--doesn't need any phone support, which is the most stable rom for that feature? I'm not looking to strip a carrier radio out or anything, just don't care if works or not, I plan to disable everything but wifi.
Suggestions--if you don't mind?
TIA
