screen brightness - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I might be crazy here, But i would have sworn there was a an option somewhere to adjust screen brightness based on what was being displayed on the screen. IE if the image had all white background it would dim a little.
If i'm not crazy, where is this option again? I CANT find it

travel manvikt
I know I've seen this exact option too. Although, it could have just been the rom that had it built in. I know for a fact I was on PA 1.5 and I was able to find the option. PA 1.5 was based on CM9 but I'm on PA 1.7 now which is based on CM10 and I can't find that option any where.
Did you happen to switch roms recently? Or maybe I've just forgotten where I've seen it.

i assumed it was built in, but i will switch to a few and see if i have any luck

I found what I thought you were talking about in Francos app.
GSM Galaxy Nexus -- ParanoidAndroid -- franco.Kernel Nightlies

It's in kernel apps like Franco or Trinity. Might also be in Trickster Mod app as well.

I've used ZAGG on two phones so far and have had no problems at all, as previously posted use a tissue. All though I agree that the screen gets a rubbery feeling with ZAGG, you won't get a scratch on it.
Ordered a new screen protector today, can't wait to try it out.

Definitely in Franco's app. It appears By default that it is enabled and adjusts automatically. You can however disable it. Normally unchecked.

Lmao, that post was meant for a different thread. I have no idea how he got confused with the two. The other thread, that I'm sure he meant to post in, is looking for a glass-like feel for a screen protector.

It's funny how popular the nickname Panda is. I never realized.
We all got new devices recently, wife has a tablet also so she has not been on my case lately but Im still using a SGS.
Take it from a guy married for several years. Set up a date night really soon and dont touch your phone the whole time. Big time points to be earned!
Was it you or her that put the phone screen side down?

Mirror Screen Guarder for Samsung Galaxy Note

looks like funny idea, but I'd love to know how it affects touchscreen and readability in sunlight
Looks crazy. You have a product link as that's obviously not a note.

Brando protectors are very good. IMO

Mirror screen protectors affect the quality of the display. You'll see rainbows occasionally.
I love the idea. I'd need to see it on the Note to judge, however.

I cannot say how much I liked that. I want to make a response using the words "Unicorns", "come" and "rainbows", but none will pass my internal smut filter ....
I suppose there are no screen protectors out there that have this feature that is coupled with a privacy sort of filter?
Ive tried this on my iphone.
Be prepared to drain your battery faster as you will need to set your brightness to MAX to be able to see whats behind that mirror especially when youre outside and the sun is so bright, you wont be able to see unless you set to max brightness.
I have a Matte protector on my note, i find it hard to see through it also when im outside.
enjoy man

Question about notification light area

The google play store sent me another galaxy nexus. I have seen the phone in person at two verizon stores and i have seen the original nexus the google play store sent me. With this new one i have you can see where the notification light bulb is, the circle and bulb while it's turned off and not in use. All the other ones i have seen it is invisible and you can't see it at all. has anyone else seen a phone like this?
this is what the new one looks like

Ditto on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I can't even see it looking for it.
I have to look really close with a flashlight to see mine. But it's very hard to see even with the flashlight.
another defect i suppose
I can see it on my Galaxy nexus but is slightly bur I can't capture with my 4S camera it looks like yours could be defected or something. Does it work tho? I and if does does it bother you?

I guess what is odd that its different in the first place, if you have a 100 of something and there all the same and that 101 is off it sorta makes you think why?
My first device has banding issues that aren't great at all, but i'm keeping it. I have seen worse in other threads. I have sent pics of all the problems i have had to google, this way maybe they can check out whats going on with qc over at sammy. I think the problem may be these devices are made in china and the international devices i think are made in Korea. but then again alot of people are having problems no matter which they have!
One thing i will say is googles cs has been great they are very nice and seem willing to help! i don't blame google i blame sammy! sigh but life goes on, there bigger things in life its just a cellphone!!
BTW, thanks everybody for the replies!!

[Q] Color Control for Note 2?

Hi,
I would like to know if it will be possible to implement Color Control (as used in many Galaxy Nexus custom kernels) in custom kernel for Galaxy Note 2?
Here's a link (it worked wonders on my old Galaxy Nexus!):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521195
My Note 2 has a heavy green/yellowish tinted screen. The problem is much more pronounced than on my old Galaxy S3, which actually was quite bad, too...
Otherwise I have to return my Galaxy Note 2
This is a comparison between my calibrated LCD and my Note 2:

I got my replacement today. Still the same problem (at leaster better build quality). I've compared mine to other Galaxy Note 2, every single device I have seen had the same issue. So I guess there are many GN2 with that issue out there.

Do you have power saving mode on? There is a screen setting in the power save menu that tints the browser. Also try to use the "dynamic" screen setting instead of natural or the others. That fixed my tint.

One thing you are not seeing is that a screenshot can never represent a displays color reproduction. As you are eliminating the actual display and only looking at the image as it was rendered in the software. All screenshots from all devices will appear the same, however photos of the actual rendered image on screen will show variations. Using a calibrated display as a reference is the only way to have a solid comparison, just like the OP did. If you want to contribute, do the same.

GS3 screen burn-in

I've had my GS3 for about a year now and I'm seeing some unfortunate burn-in on the lower row of icons (the ones that don't move from screen-to-screen), and the main clock/weather widget, particularly when the screen is all white (as in bringing up a web page in my browser).
I was very surprised to see this, especially since I do NOT leave the screen on just at the home menu screen, my timeout is set to 1 min, but I'll hit the button to kill the screen most times.
I was under the impression that the newer screens, like on the GS3 and other phones were not supposed to even get burn-in like this? How many others are seeing this?
I've had burn in on mine for a while. The top status bar is burned in a little and a Reddit icon from the Reddit Is Fun app. Not too easy too see unless you go to a bright screen and look for it, but it's there. It's been like that for about 6 months and I got the phone last September.
Wife had the same issue, Sprint replaced the screen under insurance. Didn't have to ship it off or pay anything.

Crazy didn't even know that was still an issue with today's display tech. I have yet to see it happen on any of my Samsung phones.

I've got a little bit of burn in. In the right light and a white background you can just make out Poweramp controls.

burn in is an issue with all amoled screens...
I got the s3 sph-l710
is there any app or any solution to minor burn in other than replacing the lcd?
I had it on my S2 but not on the S3.
