Error Flashing OTA? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I downloaded the 4.1.1 update from the thread (link) but I am getting the error in the attached photo.
What is going on here??

I managed the same error by flashing stock Rom 4.0.4 and use the update trick here in forum to get 4.1.1. I think it was my rooted phone which breaks ota update.

Yes but *why* is it failing on ApplicationProvider.apk and how do I fix it?
No, it's 100% the leaked stock build of Jelly Bean, the very first one that came out. 100% stock.
What is causing the OTA to not work?

u flashed the leaked ota? or a rom based on it?
i think u have a custom rom..(a deodexed one)
anyway..much easy to flash a stock 4.1.1 jelly bean rom on top of it..

Can you link to one? I thought the one in the OP I linked to WAS a stock 4.1.1 rom.

Anyone?

So you haven't changed the radio or any system apps at all?

Update the bootloader to PRIMELA03 or newer and give it a try. Make sure the hash MD5 is the same as the thread where u downloaded it from.

No. I disabled a few, like Google Currents, if that makes a difference?

Bootloader needs to be PRIMELA03 and radio needs to be XXLA2
the 4.1 zip didnt come with those and they had to be done manually
download this and extract it: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/takju-imm76i-factory-e8c33767.tgz
for the fastboot commands use this:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primela03.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxla02.img

[Q] Rooted, CWM, Stock Rom - Will 4.0.3 update work?

I have a GSM Gnex running 4.0.2 stock rom, which I've rooted and replaced the stock recovery with clockworkmod.
Will a 4.0.3 OTA update work, or will I have to replace CWM with the stock recovery?
Edit: changed "stock bootloader" to "stock recovery"

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the ota update won't work if you have Cwm recovery. Bootloader isn't the same as recovery btw.

I meant recovery! Thanks for pointing that out.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

It won't work dude. But if you are already rooted try a custom 4.0.3 rom yourself Good luck.
Wrong thread.

Clear Answer For Unroot So I Can Update OTA Please

I keep getting the new OTA IMM76I update for my Sprint Galaxy Nexus and every time it downloads & starts to install it just opens up TWRP recovery and nothing happens...
I tried to use the Nexus Toolkit as well and do exactly what it says but get hung up on "waiting for device" after it extracts the files and everything...
I've been searching for 4 hours to try to get this update done because my calls keep dropping...
is it because I have the Franco Kernel installed on a rooted device?
no ROM or anything, just rooted with the Franco Kernel...
I tried like hell to find the stock kernel but couldn't...
DAMN this is aggravating
could someone PLEASE either explain or point to a link where it explains how to deal with this issue?
HATE having a brand new phone and the calls keep dropping....
I know there are "lots of threads on this issue" already but none clearly explain how to fix THIS issue...
please hep me out...thanks in advance.

While the above link is for how to manually install updates, the reasons why an ota update won't install are the same: if you want it to install ota, you need: the stock kernel, stock recovery, stock radio, and stock rom (with no original files missing/modified). Additionally, all of these have to be the same version.
Maybe you could also get the ota update file name for us as well.

does the stock radio stay the same after root?
like I said, all I changed was the kernel...so I'd have to flash the stock kernel to install the update, correct?
another issue I'm having is damn CWM....I have TWRP on here now and when I go to flash CWM through ROM Manager it get all the way to the end, freezes then fails...can't seem to get CWM installed for my life.
also what is all this "yakju, takju, etc..."??
I'm new to this device from an Evo 4G where we just download & flash and all updates work..never had an issue like this.
my device is v4.0.4., build Imm76D.L700FC12
baseband L700.05 V.FC12/L700.FC12
on the bootloader I saw "toro" on there so I'm guessing that's because it hasn't been updated, correct?
thanks.

If all you changed is the kernel, then all you have to do is flash the stock kernel.

would you have the stock kernel?
can't seem to find it...
Try the GN root kit. You'll find it in the dev section. That will get you back on stock kernel.

You need to have stock recovery too.

Unfortunately I do not (I don't own a Sprint device), but I'm sure that it is floating around somewhere.

OTA Update

I'm on a JB rom from here and I just got the OTA update message. If I hit restart and install will it brick it or is it safe to do? If its not how do I clear the message?
Mind providing a little more information? Which Jelly Bean ROM are you running? Is it stock? Is it custom?
If your entire phone is stock, then yes, update.
If not, don't update. Flash stock, perhaps 4.0.4 Yakju, then update.
If you have no idea, don't update. Flash stock, perhaps 4.0.4 Yakju, then update.
Don't be afraid of the search feature located on the top left side of your screen.

Can't help you if all you got is "this ROM". Flash stock 4.0.4 yakju using the toolkit by mskip. Then update.

will not flash with cwm, but it won't brick either.

Depends if its a stock image or a custom ROM you're running.
If you've flashed a stock image (doubtful because you say "ROM"), then you can accept it only if you have a stock radio, bootloader, system and recovery. Even if you're 100% stock but with a custom recovery (like CWM), you can't accept and auto-install an OTA. You have to install it manually.
If you're on a custom ROM, you cannot accept the OTA.

4.1.1 update

Hey guys,
I just soft bricked my GN a few hours ago, flashing a wrong kernel. Now i got the CWM working and just flashed a random ROM ( MIUI 4.0.4 ).
So here is the question:
How can i get the 4.1.1 from this point?
Can i try to flash a new rom and then update? Which rom?
Thank you!
You won't get the official 4.1.1 unless you return to stock. You'll have to wait until the developers of your current ROM provide an update.

You won't get a OTA (automatic update push by google ) update if you are not using stock rom. But you can flash any rom you want, even back to the stock one if you like it.
im on stock is there anyway i can get official jb

New Update Message

Today I received the new update message, last time it tried to install it itself after 3 times postponed. But for for reason it failed. Is it because the phone is rooted ?
What if AT&T release the Jelly bean update in the future and I want to install it. How do I fix the update error message? Do I need to un-root the phone first ?

+1. I also have stock LEM firmware and I am rooted(everything is stock though). When I try to update to LG1 via OTA, it downloads the update and reboots in CWM and fails to update. When I plugin via Kies to update, it times out.
Is there any way to update to LG1 when you are rooted?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it should work if you have the stock recovery - which in your case you don't but not necessarily in the OP's case. Unless the OP wasn't perfectly clear.
Maybe you need to go back to stock first?

Is there any way I can remove CWM and go back to stock recovery? I rooted my phone using this easy guide http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-r...gh-t999sgh-i747sph-l710-fail-proofnoob-proof/
I am not worry about the minor update from AT&T, we all expect to get Jell Bean soon. Just want to make sure we can download the update and install it properly without any errors. So should we go stock? What will be the steps? Download the stock firmware and use Odin flash it back?
I wouldn't worry about the official update. Usually in a day or two of official release, there will be an official firmware in package in the development section.
Did you mean we can just download the custom jelly bean firmware and install it as custom rom instead of the official one from AT&T? I think that make sense.

When its released, yes. That's one reason there are threads just for stock firmware.
