Why I can't flash? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I'm trying to flash 2.3.4(4.0.2.A.42) but i'm getting ERROR:
imageshack. us /photo/my-images/88/22588973.png/
I think there's something wrong with my FlashTool. Note that when selecting the .42 firmware, nothing appears on "Firmware content.":
imageshack. us /photo/my-images/140/10763979.png/
However, after selecting BLRelock and reselect the .42, appears in the "Firmware Content" the same BLRelock files:
imageshack. us /photo/my-images/59/72046147.png/
If I keep trying to do the flash, it gives this error in the first image.
If I try to make Flash without select BLRelock file, the flash ends up being canceled immediately.
.
The Bootloader is unlocked and i can't Root because i'm on 4.0.2.A.62. But if i try, i get this error:
img594.imageshack. us /img594/3807/49511066.png
BB: 64 Kernel: 2.6.32.9
I've already installed other ROM's and Kernel's but now i'm getting this error don't know why =/
Any help?

Have you tried another ftf or verified that the file isn't corrupt by checking the hash?
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app

Well, I confess I didn't know about Check Sum. I tested it now and the code doesn't match. However, I came to think it could be corrupted, and tried to flash the BLRelock and appeared the same error.
Anyway, I'll download the ROM again.

So, I downloaded again and still gives the same error.
.
Any idea guys? =/

Add your images properly to the op.

I can't paste link/images because i'm Junior Member. ¬¬'
I tried again with another .tft file for LT15i and still the same error as first image.

Wich version of flashtool are you using,if not use 0.6 or 6-something that one works grate for me.

Version 0.8.5 version doesn't work with 2.3.4 only with ICS FW,download 0.6.9.1 and use that one, worked fine for me.

[Q] downgrade problem with flashtool

Hi guys,
I am new to android os. I wanted to root my phone which has os 2.3.3 installed. I was following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650. It says first downgrade with flashtool to 2.3.2 then root it then upgrade to 2.3.3. Downloaded 2 firmwares, global versions 2.3.2 .181
First of all when I click flash button in firmware selection screen firmware content tab only shows simlock.ta but in videos which I watched there were many files listed. If I open usb debugging mode and connect my phone flashtool cannot find driver and ask me to choose manually how ever I copied LT15.sin file to loaders folder. If I turn off usb debugging mode (unknown sources are open) and follow screen instructions, flashtool starts flashing and immediately stops and tells me to remove usb, open phone and open unknown sources and usb debugging on. I did not try resetting my phone to factory defaults. I think problem is my computer, running windows 7, and cannot see other file than simlock.ta in flashtool's firmware selection screen firmware content tab. Any help is appreciated.
It should work no problem.
Did you have both PC companion and SEUS installed on your comp? You need both for the drivers.
Some people have trouble using the lastest beta flashtool, so you might want to use the older one (the one before the lastest beta).

Usb Debug mode and unknown sources are open.
Have you tried re-downloading the ftf file you wish to flash?
Because it seems that there's some sort of issue with the file you have.
Also, what version of Flashtool are you using?
Because I've never been prompted to choose what model of handset I have.

I downloaded ftf file from different sources (different sites). I used both 2.9 and 2.8 versions. Does factory reset wipes data I want to try with factory reset and then remove phone's drivers from computer remove companion and seus start from beginning
I had similar problem before, but it was my mistake. I did not put the files in the firmware folder seperetly, I put the whole folder instead and that was wrong. Hope this helps?

I put ftf file directly into firmwares folder.
Stupid question, but did you un-zip the firmware files?

I unziped ftf file (one file) and pasted it directly into firmwarares folder. I think my problem is with java, eventhough I removed and installed java to solve problem it did not work. In flashtool flash section, firmware contents tab there was only simlock.ta is saw. I tried with flashtool 2.4 version and it showd all sin files in firmware content tab. 2.8 and 2.9.1 is not working for me. Tried desktop and laptop pc both have same problem. For people who will face with my problem my advise is using Wotan servers. I flashed 2.3.2 and rooted then OTA upgraded to 2.3.3 with Wotan servers.
Thanks.

Messed up quite badly...

I unlocked my bootloader via Omnius , decided to flash sony ics beta due to me being on .42 firmware , correctly entered all the commands nad flashed, but I was stuck in a bootloop and so i decided to try flash tool which gave me :
ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="MEMORY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="HASH_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Block verification failed";
When trying to flash system or baseband ; kernel flashed fine. It still didn't boot. Tried wotanserver, it stopped when flashing the system. SEUS simply says that I'm on the latest firmware ; I can't repair anything. So now, I have no idea as to what to do...
EDIT-Can't get into fastboot either now -_-.
You did wrong mate, you should have flashed with 0.62 firmware and not 0.42 ! they warned about that !
I hope someone more experience could help you , on my play everything is working with ICS

So you did. Sorry. Have you tried more than one FW version? I don't know much, I can only suggest what I would try in a similar situation. Which would be wiping everything wipe-able and flashing any and all ftf files I had til my phone worked again. Also, kernels add backups.
Sent from my R800i using XDA
When you say you can't repair anything, is that via SEUS?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
It was yes,I can now but its just flashing over the same version of firmware that I have installed ; I'm guessing I still have DRM intact .
A repair is supposed to flash the same version. Did it fix it?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
No it didn't. HOWEVER, after ****ting myself for around 6 hours, I noticed after I flashed the ftf via omnius my unlocked bootloader was gone(couldn't get into fastboot)...Simply did the process again and now I'm back in business .
EDIT- Thanked your posts MilkyJoe for atleast bothering to help me =D.
I know what it's like to Google problems only to be met with "answers" like, "Try Google" or, "Use the search function". Or even posts with no answers. Which forces you to ask questions yourself, often not getting answered.
If I answer and it doesn't help the OP, it might help somebody else Google-ing a similar problem.

[Q] Noob question on update.

Hi guys,
I am trying to update a stock standard GB 2.3.6 LT15i for my boss.
I have tried doing it via PC Companion, but it seems to get stuck in an update loop. It says that an update is available, and starts to download files - but then goes back to the beginning of the process after about 20 minutes.
I have tried this on 2 different PC's, both Win 7 x64.
I would like to try update the phone using FlashTool now, but I am used to Samsung phones, so I am not sure of the steps.
I just wanna confirm if it is ok to flash this file via FlashTools -
LT15i- Generic GLobal World 4.1.0.B.587 (16/8/2012)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836071
I do not plan on rooting the phone, but I also want to know if this is gonna clean wipe the phone? I will do a backup in PC Companion.
Anything I might need to know? Do I need to worry about bootloaders?
Thanks in advance.
It's okay to flash that file with Flashtools. It's really easy and there is a very small chance to do anything to your phone. Even if you brick it it will be only a soft brick (0.0001% chance to soft-brick it) And yes, it will wipe the phone
You dont have to worry about bootloaders, as long as you flash stock sony roms there wont be any problems
Thanks malimukk, I'll give it a try this morning.
Remember to check the no final verification box or you will get an error message, the phone will be ok and will be updated.

I haven't had an in depth look, but I'm guessing you could just extract the ftf and .sin then push them to the phone unsure if other steps are needed.

will be great to have,or if you have a solution!
If your ftf files are valid you should check your language&regional settings it should be U.K or something if you are coming from another regional settings.
After that you can flah via flashtool.

Thanx but...
i changed that but no go.If you mean it to change on PC!?
it goes only 3% and stops

Sorry been busy don't have time to do it, but try extracting the .ftf then use flashtool to to extract the .sin and finally mount the yaffs2 files and just push them to the phone. Then in cwm make sure you run fix permissions.

[Q] bricked arc

Hi my friend has a xperia arc, he tried to root his phone but somehow it bricked. I dont know what he did and i'm trying to recover his phone. But i cant find any solution. Pc companion didnt work. It says the phone has latest firmware. Can anyone help me please.
you can follow the link in my signature, how to use pc companion OR/AND use the search button....
Perhaps use flashtool and flash the kernel of your choice and then a rom of your choice.
There are many available - just browse the developers forum.

He wanted to root, not install a custom ROM.
To OP: Either Flashtool and flash stock FTF or download Update Service and repair firmware with it.
