[Q][SOLVED!] How to make transparent pulldown background ? - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

Hi guys
I'am wondering how to make transparent pulldown background on 4.0.4 Samsung ics roms for our GS3 ?
I managed to do it properly on GS2 but tried many things from GS2 and it didn't worked, it's all black.
I'am pretty sure that it's a line code color to modify somewhere in SystemUI.apk, but can't find it, unfortunately.
Saw some themes in this section which was included it, so this feature is possible
Any advice or small tutorial is welcomed !
If I find the solution before, I will post it here on this post.
Many thanks! :good:

Just search "android:background" in that xml file.

Thanks for your message.
I replaced 8 matches of "android:background" by #00000000 code color as said in the thread, in "tw_status_bar_expanded.xml" file, and it's still not working, everything is still black.
By the way, why choosing #00000000 color code instead of #00FFFFFF ? this last one is the color code of full transparency.

Just made a new test.
In "res/values/drawable.xml" I changed all "background" and "_bg" values to #00FFFFFF which is the color code of 100% transparent.
Made 2 test flashable zips :
test1 : stock png's = still no transparency
test2 : with my modified transparent png's = still no transparency
I remarked something interesting.
When device comes to homescreen, before it finish loading some widgets, when I try to pulldown notification bar, this one comes transparent like I want at the first centimeters I try to open it, and before coming to the bottom, came black again, and stay black then.
Maybe the source of the problem is somewhere else. I'am using Go Launcher EX, and remember one tips : using high quality drawings can help to get transparency in some cases : not mine. Tried to activate the transparency notification bar : not working.
Any other help would be appreciated.

You have to look in drawable/layout/tw_status_bar.xml in the 2line look for android:background
and tw_status_bar_expandet.xml in the same line

UOT Kitchen

Hello people. I'm seeing alot of battery mod threads but if you want a little more customisation head over to the UOT kitchen and bake your own framework/system ui.
I did it yesterday and it worked perfectly. You just need clockwork recovery and your away.
Link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
Be sure to head over to this thread and hit thanks. Mendozinas put in alot of work :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
I'm just putting this out there for people new to android or that don't know about the kitchen.
Its a great tool!
Enjoy!
Great heads up, i see ti now works with stock ROM's as well, wish they would add the CRT effect though.
this is a good website but unfortunately all that it changes for me is the battery icon and nothing else on status bar or notification area, i am confused whats up with it, its not just this its every theme i try to install does the same
well, the main prob with kitchen and our phones (S series and S2 too) is Touchwizz.
modifications via kitchen only affect framework-res.apk ;touchwizz needs modifications on twframework too.
knowing this, you can still use kitchen for :
-battery icons.
-notification icons
-glowing (at least for sliders bars and a part of the pop-up windows IF they aren't managed by twframework ).
haven't tried mods on status bars yet with my S2 but they were ok with my old galaxy S so it's probably the same.
P.S :
as always with themes, don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache after applying it viaCWM
hope it helps
Can someone provide me framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from stock KE7? Thanks.
How to submit it? I selected what I needed, uploaded framework-res.apk and systemui.apk but when I click Submit button nothing happens!
OK, I figured it out. But I can't select 'Transparent Status Bar' only, I don't want any modifications on status bar but just to make it Transparent! Maybe it's not allowed!

Well the Transparent Bar is not working for me. Just for me I just selected only Transparent Bar and nothing else, but it's the same damn black status bar in the end
Try with ADW launcher for the transparent statusbar and disable wallpaper hack
Hey all,
Just having an issue with UOT kitchen ever since I flashed to Lite'ning ROM 1.4 on KF1. Getting SHTF errors every time I try to cook files now, anyone else having this issue?
I created my first theme and it worked, however i lost the screen capture feature, does anyone know why?
Hi mendozinas,
Because i have changed my phone to GS S2(i9100) and would you please tell me this version UOT Kitchen whether support GS S2(i9100) + SpeedMod SGS2 [K1-T31 CWM4 CIFS ROOT] ?
Thanks!
I've cooked my battery icon for xxkg1 2.3.3 but i'm asking if is it possible to use the "SCB with %" (Version C, New charger for example) and hybrid charge animation.
Thanks!

if you want an all green text in the notification bar remember alpha red green blue, so a non transparent green would = ff00ff00, red = ffff0000, blue = ff0000ff, and so on (I apologize if I am stating the obvious)

Change navbar background colour?

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to change the colour of the Navbar background? By this, I mean the colour of the area that the soft buttons sit on.
The only thing I have been able to find is instructions on making it transparent:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409540&highlight=edit+navbar
Perhaps there is a .png that can be changed in SystemUI? Or perhaps the framework can be tweaked?
Any light that could be shed on the matter would be really appreciated
Thanks

From the link:
From the root of the SystemUI directory, open res/values/colors.xml. Find the entry for “status_bar_background” and change it’s value to whatever you want. In mine I’ve set it to “a6000000” which black but 35% translucent. The first 2 characters control the opacity on a scale from 0-255 where 0 is completely transparent and 255 is fully opaque. That value is then stated in hexadecimal format; e.g. 0=00, 255=ff.
First 2 characters are transparency last 6 characters are color.

Ah - I see. Thanks for your help, missed that.
Dont suppose you know how to change the actual picture of the navbar, not just the colour? As you can see in the below thread:

I believe that in AOKP, you can change the softkey colour, not the actual navbar (that the softkeys sit on)

In that link they give instructions to make transparent. But you could also change the color i believe just replacing the opacity and entering your desired color code hex value. Then compile.

[Q] To themers: name of an image

Trying to theme my status bar dropdown, and it's driving me insane.
I replaced the quicksettings and clear notifications icons, but when pressing them they get a green overlay.
Right now I'm trying to find out where this is controlled. Must be one of the .xmls or in smali, but so far I had no luck finding anything.
Anyone else know where to look?

I'm facing the same dillema. I bet it's in smali somewhere... if we're lucky it calls the RGB value from an XML we can change somewhere.

I checked most of the xmls in systemui and had no luck finding anything. If it calls an xml, then it most likely sits in com.htc.resources.apk which would suck :/

It's skinned blue in our Rom so its not in resources. I'm pretty sure it's in framework-res.apk values/colors.xml. holo_green_light & holo_green_dark
But to be sure I'll ask our lead dev sergio tomorrow.

Code:
<color name="overlay_color">#ff0087b4</color>

Yeah it doesn't do what we want it to do though
I found it's easier to just put all your changes in a skin that's already got blue highlights, such as aluminum or matte. Now if I could only get rid of the black clock in the Matte theme I'd be golden!

Nice catch, too bad that the default skin is com.htc.resources.apk, which can't really be edited atm until apktool is updated.
Edit: with your hint I think it's "<color name="multiply_color">#ff00beff</color>" under values/colors.xml. for stock HTC theme, I think it's in SystemUI.apk, trying it out now.
Edit2: yup, that's the value that colors the icon on press . Editing SystemUI.apk is enough. Bear in mind that the color gets overlaid as a multiply layer (think Photoshop)
Yeah that makes sense with the multiply overlay
It was late yesterday when i posted my findings :-D

Tablet UI transparent status/sys bar HELP

Ok guys,
Im going to post this in every Note 2 variant forum until I can figure this out.. I mmanaged to get a working transparent status/systembar on my note 2 on tablet UI.. the only problem being that my phone totally locked up and being the DUMB a$$ that I am I did create a backup.. reflashed a rom and thought I could recreate it.. I have located what I think the files name is and it is tw_status_bar_background.9.png. Now when I try to recreate it the status bar becomes all distored when pressing something.. I will show you pictures below of it working and it NOT working.. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.. I am not asking anyone to give me a step by step but more of just yes thats the right file or no thats not it..
PS the black line you see at the bottom of first pic is bc the wallpaper is not scaled properly, which can be fixed..
Honestly the easiest way to do this is to simply have a rooted phone and put ParanoidAndroid rom on it or one that has hybrid settings. It has an option to change the status bar color and you can make it transparent

Are you currently on a touchwiz rom?
Most devs use a hex value for the status bar, very few have a png.
If its a hex, change value to #00000000 where the first 2 digits represent the transparency value an rest is color.
If it is using a png image as you say and its a '9 png file, then it has other things that has to happen to it before you can use it.
Its gotta be patched by draw9patch. Then recompiled. After that, you can do what your looking to do.

Lmao...you are in every thread. ..jesus
'9 files can stretch to any size, from any size. I've worked on ones 4px before, its a pain but its possible. That leaves a 2px area to work. That's how android works. So if its too small, make it bigger. Patch, recompile
