Chainfire3D working: - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps (US Carriers)

REQUIRES ROOT.
I figured this deserves its own thread in here.
I had Chainfire3D purchased for my old myTouch 4G/HTC Glacier. I installed it on this device but was a bit worried about it doing some damage, so I made sure to do a nandroid backup before I even went with this experiment.
First thing you have to do is have C3D install its drivers which comes with a dire warning about it causing your phone not to boot. The installation will reboot your machine automatically.
The reboot took a few moments longer than usual, but it booted fine, and has since rebooted as normal since.
I tried Asphalt 6, which I also purchased some time ago for my Transformer tablet, and no dice. I went into C3D and installed the Nvidia emu that's attached below, and set it on a per-app basis against Asphalt 6, and voila! Runs perfect with no issues. Also, since our phones res is high, it looks even better than ever did on the Glacier.
Secondly, I used the market fix within C3D, and I can now view content not normally seen with our devices, as you can see below:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
^ Runs and plays fine as well.
I had both emulator files attached, which you install by placing them in the internal SD. I used the "install plugin" option within C3D, and it scanned the SD card automatically for these files.
Fair warning: again, I did a nandroid backup on my machine prior to this. I also took a risk with the plugins, since they were designed for my Glacier's single-core Qualcomm. The risk paid off for me, but I won't take responsibility for anyone else's machine.
I am running stock rooted with the Adama003 kernel.

Sweet! Works great for me. I have a bunch of Tegra games from when I had my Droid X2.

Sorry to hear that. Was this ever resolved?

Thank you for testing and posting this ...
I loved Chainfire3D, if only for Nightmode and CF Lumen, since I don't play games on my phone ...
On my Droid X2, I had to disable screen animations or Chainfire would obliterate the screen/notification bar when rotating from portrait to landscape view. Is this still the case?

Anyone having display issues with this app? Or is it just my setup? I'm running AOKP M5 with 190dpi. The main issue is that I can flip up to go through the next pages just fine, but the moment I flip down to go back a page, it'll show the animation and the preview for that previous page, but then it'll still show the page I was on...and it basically gets stuck displaying that page (but realistically it's on the new page because if I tap on it, it'll show the new page's article). Sorry if that sounds a little confusing.
works perfect on sfhub's fe07, 240dpi. thanks!

Simple fix is to reinstall it if you have not already done so. Open up titanium back up and find Flipboard. Long press and pick move to internal. The app should remain after reboot now.
I hate posting stuff late lols oh wells.

Mangled text on home screens?

Hello, I've got a weird error that I don't even know how to begin tracking down. Not sure if this is an ICS issue, an app issue, or a device (hardware) issue.
Several times now, I get a problem were, after a reboot, all the text on my home screen - names for apps and text within widgets is mangled somehow. Like pixels inverted, or boxed over, etc. (see screenshot)

The first couple of times this happened, a single reboot made it go away. However with my latest occurrence, I've rebooted several times without a fix.
EDIT: It seems like my data connection may also require examination? Since on the 3rd or 4th reboot I was in my office with a solid WiFi connection (versus previous reboots I was in my car en-route), the problem has now gone away again.
My initial reboot this morning was as a quick-fix attempt at an absent data connection. Guess I'm off to research these "radios" everyone keeps on about...
EDIT 2: Ok, perhaps ignore the above. After a reboot made this go away, it has now come back spontaneously (i.e. just noticed it sitting in the cradle with the error again - no reboot this time.) CRUUUUD.
Are you using a custom Kernel? Some 'Overclock' the GPU to 512MHz, while Stock is 384MHz. Some devices can't handle the increase and cause screen artifacts. Post your Kernel details and I'm sure someone will point you in the direction of another Kernel if this is the case.
Not that I know of - should be all stock, since I haven't rooted or unlocked anything yet (just got the phone a couple of weeks ago).
Thanks for the help.
Stock launcher? Or using nova/apex etc?

Hi,
Another thread...:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646985
Nothing related to GPU overclock...just about this possibility...
Looking in different threads in Q&A/General.
If you are using the stock launcher...I think I saw a topic with this weird issue with the stock launcher...but I can not find it anymore
In any case clear data/cache of your current launcher,reboot and see...If you're on another launcher than stock,reinstall...
I speak only for the launcher issue.
Yep, stock launcher. Thanks for the other thread.
Seems to be at bay now. Will keep an eye on it.

Very odd, I've had the game on mine for about 3 weeks. and have never had an issue. I would un-install the game again and then go into the Android/data directory with your file manager and remove the com.ea.games.nfs13_na directory. Then re-install the game. It will have to re-download data. Hope this helps.
Strange. Plays fine here on Jb.. But if u find a free apk online it doesn't play.. Just as u described will happen.. Do as other had stated and seen if works.

Issue was a bad update...
There was an update that EA released which caused the game to malfunction. Apparently as of today the issue has been resolved(Check the attached screenshot).
Re-download over wifi now that it has been "fixed" and try again. If not, email the address that's listed in my screenshot.

Need help - pop up on screen, and what rom is on my device?

Hope this is the correct spot for this... I loaded a new rom on my old Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII a couple years back (not sure which rom now) but I kept getting the popup shown in the image, finally got frustrated and pretty forgot about the device.

Found the device again this week and I'm now wanting to use it in my office mainly for streaming music to a bt speaker. However I'm wondering 2 things - first is there a way to get rid of this pop up on this particular rom?
And #2 any suggestions on what rom I should be using on this device to use it as a media streamer? Will need bt access and wifi, camera would be nice as well as use of the microSD slot... suggestions welcome!

Looks like the stock ROM, definitely a TouchWiz based ROM. That message on screen could be one of the settings in developer options. USB notification in status bar too. Look for settings about showing stats, turn them off.
ROMs, for media streaming, stock is fine. Just a little outdated. Lineage is on nougat 7.1.2 now. Everything works fine on it. Octos is on nougat as well. Both have currently maintained ROMs for Sprint S3.
This is because your efs got wiped or modified
I think that this is because your efs partition got modified or wiped during installation or something, you can fix that using EFS Professional.
You can go here and find out how :

Anybody kernel tweaking?

I wasn't interested, really. Phone runs fine. But, I came across some stuff, was reading, decided to try ktweak. I'm running Lineage 17.1 on my edge. Seems to be no problem and if I noticed anything at all thus far it's maybe a bit more battery life. I wouldn't swear to it, though, hasn't really been long enough. Also, it could be that SD Maid was faster when listing all the phone's apps in the appcontrol section, which is something I would care about. The edge was already pretty fast in that the apps listed in about 2.3 seconds. Seems to be just under 2 now. Could be wishful thinking, I dunno.
THere's lots to do if you get into tweaking your kernel - that's a big rabbit hole, and I'm just not that geek anymore. Ktweak is just a script, it just runs that one time to make its changes. It won't survive a reboot, but, there's an apk for an interface that lets you toggle to run at every boot.
THere's already a ton of info about it so I won't throw my ignorance in. Just wondering if anyone else decided to make a few kernel changes, or, is maybe using this script. You can see the tweaks here.
I noticed an error since utilizing this script. Coincidence or not, I dunno. 3C all-in-one has a cache feature for the 'drives' on your phone. You can increase it following a quick test. I have done it in the past on this phone and ROM, without ill effect. I had a 'download' error yesterday in Firefox and in Aurora. I didn't a few days ago, so I reset the cache option to default in 3C, rebooted, and the download error was gone.
I set the cache option in 3C after I ran this script.
It's all anecdotal to this point, but maybe the 3C cache setting doesn't play well with the default hacks this script performs. I didn't even look, I don't even care - it's just a thing I noticed and currently all is well.
Since utilizing the kernel mods set by this script I haven't really noticed anything different in real-world usage in the phone, other than mentioned. It has always been responsive, fast, it runs really well with Lineage, it ran well with stock, too. I'm not performing experiments or anything remotely similar, I am just using the phone as normal.
What is interesting is that I got almost 4 days out of my last charge. That is definitely an improvement. It's not that big a deal, really. The phone gets 2 days anyway and I have a routine that alleviates battery/charge concerns.
4 days, 6 hours+. That's something.
