The 5th step at which you partition itself formats the sd card and divides it into 2 partitions . So your sd card contents are gone by then. Theres no way to recover them.

what the?
is that true ? ((((((( im so deppresed ryt now

i still have the link2sd app
i can see that the second partition have some files how can i get them?

you missed 1 important step, thats BACK UP.

2nd partition is not accessible by windows. It also doesnt have the contents of the sd card. Its only for a2sd/link2sd etc

try installing linux and see the contents from there,
there might be a way

It wont work bro. You can recover stuff if you delete them not when you format. All the traces will be gone.

Dont give up dude. You could use easeus data recovery suit.google it for the paid one.trust me u could recovet every thing u have lost if you didnt copied much to ur memory card after formating.
I was able to recover mine entire hard disk which lost data while installing linux due to some auto partioning ****!!!!
I got every thing back after using easeus.

I don't know about CWM method but you can use Gparted on your PC and do it easily... Search Google for USB Gparted boot..
i try formatting using pc but the ext partition became allocated volume..ok i give it a try..thnx
If you are rooted you could use Link2SD.
But if you want to remove it use official SD Formater 3.1. First backup your existing files from sd

link2sd cannot mount its scripts on stock roms!! That's why you cannot view the 2nd partition!!
@leodasal2
No buddy.... I'm using link2sd on stock rom... And it's working awesome.
I think he doesn't have problem with ext partition but the fat32 partition
This happened to me once your sdcard must be failing, you better backup your data before it says format unable to read device

Ya I'm on stock kernel as in signature, and I can create link also.
No problem at all.
Im also on stock Rom& stock kernal and link2sd is working perfect for me....
but i had these problems before....
I experimented many times by relinking and recreating mount scripts...but the problem came once in a while.
But after that i've backed up the .apk s and cleaned up the second partition and cleared data(settings-applications-manage-link2sd-clear data button) and now again used link2sd, created links and now the mounting problems are over! hoo....
Try formatting your sdcard,
Backup first in your pc, or delete your ext partition using minitool partition or easeus partition, make it (your sdcard) empty , copy paste cwm to your sd, and flash it via recovery , goto Advanced n then choose Partition SD Card . Hope this help..
Also, if its not working again, try deleting "content holder" or something like that, on /system/sd . Use root explorer (recommended) .

In CWM or PX recovery there is option to make partition on sd card. Search it, perhaps it is in advenced options
Before making a partition: Copy all files from you sd-card to your computer, then partition the sdcard, after partition, restore all the files again

Oh, yeah, i forget to write this. Making partitions via recovery deletes all your files from sd-card. About two weeks ago I did it -,-
But making partition via PC is safy
After creating a partition on your sdcard download link2sd from market and create ext4 partition and restart your device

No, dalvik cache and user apps are better in my opinion

is 512 mb fine ?
and how to configure A2SD
just partition and then move apps to sd ?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
It's better to make partition size not more than by 10% of your sd-card.
Like if you have 8gb sd-card then you should make around 750-780mb to be on safe side

I can't flash a rom from my ext sd card though. I get an error from CWM recovery when I try to do so. My sd card format is exFAT format btw.
format it to fat32 then.. I'm sure you have the SD card adaptor to use on your laptop without the phone... do a quick format... you need a program that is free in windows... Google format fat32

It's windows, pop in the card, go to start, then my computer, right-click the new icon, select format, choose fat32, select quick format, click start, wait, done.
Or use GParted to format it to fat32 in *nix.
Or any other software you prefer to use.

Just boot into recovery and format micro sd or ext sd card (wording depends on recovery of choice) as long as when it formats it says using mkdosfs and completes successfully youre golden and back to fat 32 and using sd card again like nothing happened

Alright guys, I managed to fix it but my dumbass accidently hit the format sd-ext button on CWM recovery when I was trying to hit the format data button and now all my data is gone Thankfully I still got most of the backups from my old Galaxy Nexus and managed to restore almost everything except my music playlist which took me hours to make Thanks for the replies though, even though I read them after I fixed it.

Find any old nokia phone that has a micro sd card slot and put your sd card in it. Then format the sd card using the phones file manager and voila the partition is deleted!!
How old? Which specific model?

Any Symbian model will do!
I personally use the Nokia 5233
connect your phone to PC,enable mass storage, install mini tool partition wizard on PC and open it and there you'll see your hdd and sdcard partitions, then delete sdext partition and extend the fat32 partiton of sdcard with the free space that has left after deleting sdext partition
You should be Able to just format the card from recovery :/

No, I think the OP asked how he can delete the sdext partition i.e. merge it with the original partition. I'm not sure if that can be done from the recovery.
