So yea...as much as I know my desire's motherboard needs replacement...And I dont have warranty. Is there any way to fix it without changeing whole motherboard?
You provide us no information at all about what's wrong with your device.
What do you want to do with it? Solder stuff?
There is a 100% chance that you will destroy your phone when you open it and mess around with the subminiaturized highly vulnerable microelectronics.
There's something called insurance.

Maybe the forum can help you
For this we need some more information:
1. Do you have the original HTC Sense ROM?
1a. If YES skip the points 2 - 5 and continue with 6.
2. If NO: which ROM you have installed?
3. Did you change the Radio ROM?
4. Have you unrooted your phone?
5. Are you S-Off / changed Hboot (partition table)
6. Do you use the original SD-Card?
7. Since your reboots started: have you installed any software just before?
8. Which program(s)
If you can answer these question we can help you - I don't think (hope) your motherboard is dead. Often there are simple solution to fix a "dead" phone

1. I had,but it used to turn off and get into boot loop while playing games like GRave defense. Never happened while playing shoot bubbules.
2. DevNull. First was dev, then leedroid, now back to dev. I keep him in sd card in case my phone wont turn on. Sometimes it restarts in middle of movie so I left him 2 times until morning and it first time turned on and second time didnt, again started to restart. Same with reflashing roms. Sometimes helps, sometimes no.
3.Yes.Radio_32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08
4.Yes. I had hboot 0.83 or 0.93 and I used AlpharevX and then unrevoked.
5.Yes.
6.I dont know, I got it when I bought phone. (it was used when I bought it.)
7.Hm......Well...I dont think so...when I bought it, I turned phone off and after um... about 1 h I tryed turn it on and it started restarting. Then after some time turened on again.
And btw now it sometimes starts restarting not even hot.
So your problem is random reboots? or does your device not start up at all?
If the problem is just a bootloop, you won't need to replace the motherboard. You just need to flash the correct and working software.

But that used to happened with original rom too...un...one guy said that bootloop is because motherboard is faulty. Now I just watched whole movie. And it was ok. But I tink if I would use market or opera it would restart. But im not sure. Sometimes it dosnt restart. And if I would flash all correct software my phone would turn on quicker?
oh god...
Don't answer my question with the word but. It's NOT an answer. So lets take the question again and this time do only reply to the question:
Is you problem random reboots or a bootloop?
Those 2 are NOT the same, while random reboots is exactly what the name implies a bootloop implies that your phone is unable to enter the android system due to a failure on startup.
So please in order for anyone to help you, you must make it very clear what you problem is, as otherwise we cannot tell you what to do.
Everything you have told up until now is that you have some problem(you use bootloop and random reboot equally) and that you might or might not know that it happens when running some specific apps.

Sorry. By bootloop I mean my phone restarts and then just starts viberating and just stays in white htc logo screen. But after some time I can enter android system. This happanes when I do something with my phone.
If I may throw 2 cents in...
I do not know if this will be the fix for you, but if I had this issue, the first thing I would do is boot the phone up and wait until it loads properly (I gather it loads sometimes but not others, which is why you watched a movie??), make a Titanium backup of everything, then Nandroid backup.
Next, do full wipe
1 Factory reset
2 (in Mounts/Storage) Format Dalvic/data/sdext/system
3 (in Advanced) Wipe Dalvic cache.
Now reflash your ROM and restore Titanium.
Might all sound like basic stuff, but any time I have had issues with bootloops or FCs or whatever, it's usually because I didn't wipe properly. Now I always wipe everything with new ROMs and never have an issue.
If this doesn't help, you may commence panicking I'M KIDDING!!

Hello LordRyve,
follow the great description from 777ace , these are the steps which should bring your Desire back.
I only would not restore all the programs via Titanium Backup after your fresh install. The reason is that there might be a "bad" program you have installed before. Just restore a program, check if system runs without problems, then restore the next and so on.
But NEVER restore system apps via Titanium backup - this mostly WILL mess up your system!
And before flashing devnull ROM download it again and check the MD5SUM, just to be sure your downloaded ROM is ok.
Good luck

Well now it runs rll great And I didn't do anything different. It restarted while charging but at about 98% it was cold again and I succesufly turened it on with first try. If something will go wrong i'll try do 777ace guide. Now I would like to ask...what to do that files would get transefered from my pc to sd faster? Because when my battery is not full it starts charging and overheating and restarting. Also isnt overheating and restarting caused by bad motherboard?

Sure you can.
With a bad app I ment that an app can mess up your system (not a corrupted program file).
For example task killers I would name "bad" apps as they are useless in current ROM and maybe could things worse.
A very important tip at the end: perform Nandroid backups on a regular basis - so you can allways come back to a working system.

Do you use Windows or Linux? For me file transfer on Linux is much slower compared to Windows. Sometimes it helps to switch to another USB port on your PC.
Does your Desire also restarts when you use the power supply (charging not via PC)?

Windows. Yes. It gets overheat. And switching to another USB port didn't helped. But I noticed that usb cable's part that puts into pc was a bit hot.

hm...I think problems start when I install classic ghost radar
Ok...can some1 explain me. my phone started to restart while moving movie from pc to sd. Now it's cold. But when I turn it on, it loads and after 1 sec in android system it starts restarting again. why?
Here is what I did, and here is what I want to do(presumably)
What I did:
-Installed CWM, did all of the fancy backups, etc. Tried installin g CM7 and it failed, the zip from the CM site keeps failing to install (aborted)
-I then gave up on it and tried installing Eaglesblood ROM which did install correctly. I didn't know that it hasn't been used or updated for a while, but one issue came up.
--Issue: My SD card wouldn't mount(external)? I couldn't recover my contacts or apps that were backed up on my SD card, and searching for it just showed "unavailable" and no option top mount.
-After this failure, I decided to try the Juggernaut ROM and the install failed, because the SD card just wouldn't mount. Nothing on my SD card is usable.
NOW: I want to start over from scratch, and then install a ROM, or just completely delete everything. I don't even want any of the backups on my phone, just a fresh start over again.
Question: What should I do? What would you do as a Noob if you could do it over again the right way?
1.) Clear the phone back to stock again?
2.) Install something more stable?
3.) Find a way to mount SD?
what do I do?!
ps. Merry Xmas
Try formatting the sdcard and see if that makes a difference. I had a sdcard go bad in my wife's phone and it wouldn't mount at all. Swapped in another card and she was golden.

doesn't give me the option to do so on my phone. I'll do it on my backup phone and see if it works.
No Go, it reformatted in the other phone, but amazingly all of the files were still there?
Someone help me solve this mystery, this isn't making sense?!
Try formatting on a computer not a phone if you have a card reader. Go to my computer right click on the sdcard and select format. Then select fat32 option. Back up your stuff if it still reads on the computer. If this doesn't fix try a new sdcard. That's what I had to do for my wife's phone. It wouldn't mount in the phone but worked.fine in a card reader.

I tried putting it in my nokia N900, and reformat it from the PC using the N900 as a reader. Unfortunately I don't know where my adapter is.
It wont format that way, it lets me see the SD card and select format, but no go. Tried Fat32 and NTFS, but no format would work.
Possible that the card is fried some how, but still readable? The properties show no information on if the SD card is on read-only or not, so I can't figure this out.
Formating it from the N900 says it formats, but all the files are still there after the format.
Mind=Blown
Well it looks like it was the sd card afterall, new card and everything works...... For now of course.

best way to start over from scratch is to ODIN the factory ROM, (check INDEX sticky)
then you'll be back to original, and use oneclickroot to root it again, then install CWR and go wild with whatever ROM you choose

In order to prevent bad installations in the future, only attempt to flash roms that you obtained from the Developer section of the T-Mobile Galaxy SII T-989 forum. Our phone will not run roms developed for other versions of the Galaxy SII due to hardware differences. You could easily brick your phone flashing something that wasn't specifically designed for it.

Got it, but I tried it both ways. I think what I really should be asking is:
What roms would you download if this were you?
I really want something in the ICS department but can't really find any roms that are stable enough to download. Anything you recommend?
there are no ICS alpha/beta for our model yet
wait until the ICS sources has dropped from Samsung, then we'll get lots

well, ICS isn't really a big deal. I just want to try out these ROMs everyone is raving about, but there are so many!
Like I said before, I tried installing a rom that just didn't work. And I'd like to try some of the most stable roms out and see which ones I could use comfortably.
This way I don't set up my phone the way I like, just to do it all over again repeatedly.
edit: I see you're running Juggernaut 3.7 + Bullet 2.9 (just like CM7)
Stable enough to try in my n00b state? I understand the risks as well, just wondering how good it is. I know it had some MMS issues but if that's all than I'll survive.
Edit 2: Just installed Jug v4.1 and it's awesome. So I finally got the idea of what I need to do in order to install correctly. Not going to try anything else for a while now lol
I think you're getting confused... there are a lot of variants of the Samsung Galaxy S II, but they are very different inside. It sounds like the ROM you were trying to install was for the international version, which could easily wreck your phone completely. There are no ICS roms whatsoever for the T-Mobile version of this phone, nor are there any complete CM7 roms. You can safely install any of the roms on the "T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II Android Development" section of these forums, and that's about it.

Right, which is what I was aware of. The rom that messed me up was one that was labeled as a Tmobile S2 rom, but I think the error was a User error(me).
Now that I did it all from scratch, I have it all running well and I'm now avoiding the use of Rom Manager, and only using CWM.
And of course, I wouldn't think of installing a rom from another forum for another phone, I will be sticking to the t989 section here.
For the past few weeks Ive been running AOKP and it has been randomly freezing up on me. Its always the same way. I grab my phone from my pocket, I wake it and what ever i try and do doesnt matter cause its frozen. Then in a few seconds its fine. It happens a few times a day. Well I finally got sick of it and switched to CM9 and I started getting the same thing. So I went to Calks ICS 1.5 which ive never had problems on before but it still does it on this rom too. There has to be something wrong with my E4GT. Can someone help ?

I'd say it's probably time for a full wipe. If I've been doing a lot of flashing, I like to wipe out both SD's, odin back to stock and start absolutely fresh. A lot of apps leave file behind on SD and I like to clean up so I know everything is running properly. I posted my method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24056900&postcount=9930
Up to you which one-click odin you use but this way you're ensured a completely fresh start. BTW, you DO use Calk's format all whenever you go to a new rom correct?
Yes I usually use calks format but not everytime . I usually follow the devs instructions and they don't always say use calks format all. Should I use it no matter what?

Ok gotcha, that is a very good question. You mentioned AOKP and I'm not very familiar with it but I do know it is designed very differently than the ICS leak that is out and also CM9 is different also. You may want to ask about AOKP but I think the safest way to go if you're using ICS and want to flash a ROM or Kernel is to ALWAYS Odin (mobile app or from computer) Chris41G's Stock EL26 Kernel from here:
http://chris41g.devphone.org/index.php?dir=EpicTouch/Stock+Repack/EL26/
Flash Calkulin's Format All, and then flash your rom. If you keep doing it that way, you should stay safe.
Now, there are a few kernels coming out for ICS that say they're safe to flash ROM's with but I'm not taking the chance. I hear too many stories about people forgetting what rom or kernel they're using and accidentally bricking their phones while on ICS. I like my phone too much, I'm going to keep using the EL26 method.
I just read today, a couple users on AOKP tried to flash something else from AOKP recovery and they hosed up their phones possibly.
The format all is safe to use and clears all the data and wipes the partitions so you can flash a rom cleanly. That is what it was designed for.
All the freezing started started soon after I started flashing AOKP and CM9. Ive never done a fresh wipe before I've only been flashing for a few months. All I'm interested in saving is my music and if I can my text messages but most important my music. I saw the thread you posted for me but is there anything more detailed that I can use to back up to my PC and to wipe my phone?
I cant figure out how to save my pictures to my PC, as soon as I connect it theres no file anywhere, only the stupid screenshots i took. This phone is a nightmare . Somebody please help me I need to do wipe it clean. Also when I connect my phone to my laptop, it gives me 2 different ports removable disk E, and removable disk D. my pictures are no where to be found. It makes no sense at all. somebody please just give me a detailed description on how to save my pictures to my laptop and wipe this stupid phone clean. 1. Its not a stupid phone, it works great.
2. Make sure you have the correct Samsung drivers installed on your laptop. Google and you can find them easily.
3. Once your phone is recognized by your PC, copy n paste your files. You will have 2 places to copy from if you did this correctly, one is internal card and the other is external SD.
4. If you can't get these results, you bricked your phone from not reading beforehand.
5. If all else fails, go to download mode with volume down+power when your phone is off and try sfhubs ek02 one click method.
6. Profit.

I know what im talking about ive done this many times. theres obviously something wrong with this phone because when i turn on usb storage i get 2 to pick from. Disk E and Disk D. one gives me more access to my phone that the other . Id like to take a pic of it and show you but as you know i cant take a picture with my phone while its in sync.
why would I wanna use EKO2 method?? it should be EL29 right ??
Always do a full wipe when changing platforms. Ics to aokp, aokp to cm9. You can get away with wiping cache and dalvk cache when upgrading to the next release of same rom usually, but if anything strange happens wipe and reflash.

Look for a folder called 'DCIM' for the pictures.
Also it doesn't really matter EK02 or EL29. I think sfhub said something about EK02 being special in some way but I just can't think of it right now.
EL26 is the other that is good for flashing to ICS. I havent noticed any difference between EL26 and EL29. You don't really need to make a backup on your computer if you just copy your pics over to the SD card. Ive flashed this phone proly 100 times and its never touched the SD card.

He's having issues so I recommended a full wipe which included formatting both the internal and external SD.
Maybe not necessary but a file cleanup couldn't hurt.
OK I'm gonna run the the EL29 full restore one click self extractor . I'm gonna use the reset dataone. Will that wipe my phone enough? Or do I need to do more??

I'm wondering if one of your apps is to blame. You can freeze all bit the necessary ones to see if it makes a difference.

I only reinstalled a few apps. right from the market. i had wiped my whole phone. are you sure that One click file I odined reset my phone??
ive been having the same freezing issue since FF02, its pretty annoying and i hope it gets fixed before OTA. if not ill just run a older leak
Hey I got my phone rooted, so I installed Titanium Backup, and then I uninstalled the stock browser, the download manager, and also android.downloader or something like that. And I broke my phone - now Google Play just crashes instantly.
I've tried reinstalling the firmware, and resetting to factory, but it's still the same.
Is there anything I can do, other than take it back to the store?
Help!!!!!
EDIT: It gives the error "Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped."
did you do a nandroid backup?> if not we need to know the exact application you deleted. future reference DONT DELETE. just freeze then its just a simple unfreeze and a freeze also stops the app from running. you will not get more available memory by doing this because this is on a different partition. Also never delete or freeze anything referring to com.android they are core funtions that are required for your device to run properly.
You deleted a process?!
My money would be that android.download or whatever process you deleted was required for Google Play to work. Hopefully you made a Nandroid before modifying processes. If not, you'll have to flash a stock ROM to get it back.
Alternatively, if you backed up system data with Titanium Backup, you might be able to find the process in there and restore it.
Echoing drksilenc, don't uninstall things through Titanium Backup unless you're positive it won't mess something up. How can you be positive? One, deleting processes always causes problems. Even freezing them can be messy. Don't do it. Two, in the case of an app, you'll know it's ok if you've had it frozen for a week or so and the phone hasn't acted up. Even with system apps, though, I recommend freezing rather than uninstalling. It's safer, and you never know if you might want/need that app again.
It gets worse.
I went down to the Bell store (my phone's actually from Bell, but they're similar to the AT&T ones, right?) and they wouldn't exchange it. So I tried going into the Clockwork Recovery, and wiped all of the little folders in "Advanced Settings." Because I noticed that Bell's add-on apps kept coming back, why weren't the other ones I deleted? And now it's a useless brick, says SAMSUNG and that's it.
Brand new one-day old superphone, totally wrecked. I don't even think there are any stock ROM's out there for this thing yet.
I'm a meathead.
I'll try reinstalling the firmware again that I did before, maybe I'll get lucky.
Nope, still nothin'.
So now I'm going to do something really crazy. Somebody on the interwebs says you can flash the SGH-1317M with the stock rom for the GT-N7105. Says it's the same thing except it's the international version and that it's even better.
I went to samsung-updates.com and searched for the Note 2, and sure enough, it's on their list of ROMs for the Note 2. So I'm downloading the GT-N7105, and I'ma gonna install it, unless someone here tells me different!

I found a Cyanogenmod ROM but even that says it's for the n7100. I can't seem to find anything for the sgh-1317m.

Don't do that. For one, flashing a ROM for a different device is virtually always Detroit Brick City. Two, the guy's got two whole posts. Don't do it.

Any rom in our dev section should fix you try clean rom ans stop using titanium vackup. Why are you debloating roms when devs did it for you already and obviously you see you have no clue what you're doing?
[/COLOR]Lol... that didn't work at all... I thoughtbthe links would copy over... look in the android dev section theres a rom there for you. .. 8)

Just flash any rom in the android development section usinf twrp or cwm, it will rebuild /system and fix any issues. In the future dont delete or uninstall system apps, just freeze them if you think yiu dont need it. Freezing stops the app from running ans taking up any cpu or memory so its almost as good as deleting (it still technically takes up space but this phone has plenty of space) with nine of the dangers. If something stopped working like play store, youvcan defrost the apps yiu froze easy enough.

Yes we promise lol and dont freeze or delete anything just leave it to the devs and only download stuff from this forum i317/i317m
Sadly, failure
I downloaded CleanROM Lite 1.0.zip, put it on the SD card, and used Clockwork Recovery to install it. The installation went without a hitch, but trying to boot the phone, all I get is the SAMSUNG logo still. So I did a factory reset, wiped the cache, wiped the Dalvik cache, and did "fix permissions", but it's the same.
So I'm downloading the other ROM ("Stock Root - De-Odex") and will try that presently.

These roms take a while to boot how long did you wait. Look you didnt break your phone from deleting apps just flash the rom and wait it will boot. Remember these roms are 750-800 mb worth of data to boot not 250mb like aosp roms, takes few mins to boot

You might have been right. I'm so used to it just freezing up that maybe I wasn't patient enough and just assumed.
But it works now! I flashed the Stock ROM, and it booted up with no problems. Then I flashed the lite one again, and it works too. So now I'm going to try the other ROM on the dev page, see how it looks.
And it's still rooted, so hooray!
Thanks for all your help.
you REALLY need to do ALOT more READING, and ALOT LESS Flashing...
Hello all! I'm a ROOKIE in the truest since of the word when it comes to: 1) android (having come from the Iphone) and 2) rooting and install custom roms.
Situation: A week ago I rooted and installed Cyanogenmod 10 on my phone (SGH i747). I loved the operation system but my battery life seems to have gone down hill. Too, I've noticed that I have to restart my wifi (release/renew IP) sometimes for whatever reason.
Problem: Given the above situation, I thought I might restore the phone to stock firmware (and am learning that this is not as easy as restoring the Iphone from jailbreak!). I think I've got the instructions down: get odin (windows) and get latest stock.
Where can I find latest stock? I read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026751&nocache=1) and downloaded it here. But I wanted to double check.
Can anyone help?
Too, any other counsel for using custom roms would be appreciated. (I apologize in advance if I've broken any forum rules with this post. I'm a bit nervous/anxious at this point and want to get this resolved. THANKS IN ADVANCE!)
The thread you linked contains just the recovery, not the entire stock firmware.
You probably want to look here for complete stock firmware packages; you'll most likely need to use Odin to flash them (which you probably did to get your device to that state anyway). Note that that's completely stock; i.e. you'll unroot your phone by using that firmware. (Why, yes, I have made that mistake in the past; why do you ask?)
Alternatively: did you use this method to root the phone? If so, just repeat those steps and you'll be back at your stock (but rooted) firmware.
Edit: I just wanted to comment on your rationale for unrooting - have you tried diagnosing your battery drain issues to any extent? If you're willing to spend some time working on that, you might try running BetterBatteryStats for a while and seeing what's eating your battery life, then working from there.
Followed Advice...Media Scanner Service Culprit

I followed advice - installed Better...Status. Media Scanner Service really consumes power. I read some threads and someone said something about SD card problems. When I bought my phone, I just stuck a micoSD that I had laying around. I did not format or anything. I had used it in the past to transfer files to and from a Motorola phone I had (files I used for college classes, etc.).
I checked the format of the file and it reads: "Generic Hierarchical" (in the "info" pane). Do I need to format the card? If so, can someone give me some advice as to how to do it so I don't loose info or mess something up. Thanks in advance.

Backup what is on it by taking it off the SD, format to fat32. Don't use the phone to format sdhc.

So I get it right: plug phone into pc > open explore pane > copy SD Card to pc > then format (fat32) > then copy contents back onto newly formatted SD Card?
Also, does this sound like it might be causing a problem for me? Thanks!

Process is right. As for causing the problem, maybe. Cleaning up trash and getting everything in order might help. Cm and aokp are usually pretty great. My phone runs 3 hours screen and 13 total hours on battery with the crap signal switching or 24 hours with 3 hours screen over weekends all WiFi. Running kt747 at 386 - 2106 sio/ktoonservative.
