Screen protector template HTC One V - HTC One V

Hey all,
Couldn't find a screen protector for the One V in any shops nearby and didn't want to wait for delivery from an online shop, so here's a template I made. You can use it to cut the right shape out of one of the cheap iPad screen protectors you can buy in Dollarama / Poundland / similar...
It's an inkscape (freeware vector graphics) file, .SVG format. Should be 102mm x 55mm when printed. I stuck mine to the back of the screen protector with glue and then cut it out with a craft knife before peeling it onto my phone. Works nicely.
Enjoy!

Thanks mate! Usefull...
I bought an iPad screen protecter weeks ago, and didn't find any blueprint of the phone to cut it right, so I did it like I could.
I'll try with your template in a day or two!
BTW, a good idea!

Save some cash now
Blew $20 on my first one a few months ago need a new one (kinda hard on my phones lol)

Screen Protectors

Hi Peep,
I am wanting to get a screen protector for my exec, does anyone know what the best protector are? I herd Martin Fields one were is the right?
Martin Fields, generally, are very good. You should also look at Brando. I have ordered one from www.expansys.com so should know by the weekend if it is any good.
Brando ultra clear are the best
The brando ultra clear protectors are the best.
I use the ones for the fujitsu Siemens Loox 720 they have the same screensize and fit perfectly!
Is this the Brando version: http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125510
Maybe I'm blind, but expansys don't seem to show the make of their accessories in some cases.
For me, on Screen of my olds P800, P900, P910i, JAM and now on screen and cammeras of my JASJAR, I have a Martin's Field Overlay. In my opinion is the best screen protector.
Have Fun.
Do any of the above provide anti-glaring?
I have just installed a www.proporta.com screen protector. Absolutely brilliant.
On my XDA IIs it was good for the entire duration until I sold it recently.

Does it fit the screen perfectly? Some screen protectors leave a bit of space for easy replacement, but I prefer it to be exact.
tight fit, took 3 attempts to get right
The Expansys screen protector seems okay. Took a few goes but bubbles were less problematic than I expected. But using a sellotape to remove dust etc that has stuck to the sticky layer did not work as well on the Brando/Martin Fields protectors I have tried for other devices. It seems a bit thicker than other screen protectors I have used. Not sure I'll be keeping it though.
Thanks everyone.
FWIW, I emailed expansys a couple of times about the PocketPcTechs "WriteShield" anti-glare screen protecors and (eventually :? ) got a kinda curt reply with these 2 links:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=127386&asource=119353
this is the anti glare one
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125510&asource=119353
this is the normal one

I've got a PPcTechs AG shield on my XDAIIs - the difference over some of the others I've tried is amazing! No bubbles ,very smooth to write on and seriously impressive AG wise, diffusing even strong light sources. They are expensive, and it is about 1mm narrower & shorter than the screen but I'm not settling for anything less for my Exec.

MY bro just wasted money on a Martin Fields protector as a pressie - fifteen quid including postage.
Not only was it incredibly finicky to take off the adhesive covering (all three of us came to the conclusion that they'd forgotten to add the covering before I took a surgical blade to it as a last resort) but I find it impossible to put on without bubbles, therefore my screen looks awful with it attached. Just dumped it in the bin there now. Just be careful folks, these things are a pain in the arse to attach perfectly, even for someone who paints eyes onto 1" high lead models!
I had to ask myself what's the point? The screen closes inwards for gods sake. Just gonna occasionally use my glasses cloth on it...

All you need is one tiny piece of grit, picked up by static or from your pocket, trapped under the stylus. You'll instantly feel it cut into the plastic as you drag it across the screen. All over in a fraction of a second, and your resale value through the floor.

I'll put up with that - figure it's replacement in one year will cost about £100 to £150 with contract, so that'll be most of that coevered, even with a slightly less than pristine screen.

I just got my Brando screen protector today, and while it is clear, it is way too thick. I have to put a lot more pressure on with the stylus to get it to register, i'm going to have to chuck this one and get a thinner one.
Hello Everybody,
I live in madrid and there doesn't seem to be any available screen protector at the monent as the QTEK 9000 in Spanish was just released late november.
I heard that the screen protector of the HP6340 will suffice. Is this true? Are the screen's same size? If not, which older model PDA has same dimensions as the Universal?
Buy it on proporta.com i did it is great, i already had one with my BA and they are perfect.

I Can't find a suitable screen protector for my Nokia N95

I just bought a new mobile of Nokia N95, but after I looked around the shop nearby, I can’t find a screen protector for this model. Although I can buy a sheet & cut it myself, but as the mobile got a corner at top and I think I can’t cut it nicely. Anyone who know where can I find this model screen protector?

Best Screen Protector
This is a specific question for those who have tried several screen protectors. What have you found to be the best? And why?
BoxWave Clear-touch Crystal.
Easy to apply, crystal clear giving a really nice look and stylus feel to the screen, and it is removable and washable and then you just stick it back on.
Expensive compared to some protectors, but one protector lasts me up-to a year.
Works out as 16.45 USD for one or 34.45 USD for three. I will be buying three and either selling on the extra two or keeping them as spares.

original screen protector

Hi, found this screen protector on HTC europe shop. Bit exepnsive but is it worth it? I mean the screen protector provided byt HTC is really good. THey offer also a 5 pack for 31 euros.
What do you think guys?
It is not expensive. Brando has one screen protector for 10 dollars. Clarivue has 2 for 9,99 US$. So, 5 for 31 euros is cheap.
Thanx for letting me know. Then I'll buy the 5 pack as soon as I can.
why would you want 5 screen protecters. you just can put one on your phone
Go cheap
I bought a set of six really cheap ones on ebay for under 5 euros delivered, and they're excellent... I've had more expensive ones in the past for other devices, and these cheap ones are just as good. Search ebay for elf protectors - the seller is german.
It's all down to how you apply them, as with all screen savers. Even if they say they're removable and washable etc, if you don't get them right first time you're stuffed.
Secret is to get the screen clean first - I use stick tape to pull off all the dust and bits, then apply the protector from one end, using a credit card or something to press down behind it whilst installing.
The screen protector that comes with HTC boxed in India is the worst! Its almost like a cello-tape on big size. Screwed my screen completely when removed. Then I had to use some shampoo for removing the sticky stains.
So carefull sticking..
Regards,
Carty..
http://www.wirelessground.com/htctoac.html
check out this site, lots of goodies @ good price!
i had 1 screen protector (orginal) for 10 euro in france
so 5 for 31 euro is a good deal
HTC Orginal protective screen (not the free one they give you)
Just got 6 decent quality protectors for £3.00 inc carriage. Found them on ebay from a UK company - the ebay shop is E-Cell Global. They are miles better than one I got from Play.com, applied easily and I can honestly say they are invisible - i had to double check it was on it! Must be the best bargain ever.
PS: The reason I have been looking for new protectors is because I did a stupid thing with my new HTC Touch Enhanced. I put on the one supplied wth it and it looked rubbbish so i threw it away. After a few weeks use I saw a very small mark on the edge of the screen and lifted it up with my finger nail. Seems the touchpad / digitizer has a very thick plastic protector already on it fitted at the factory. Because I had lifted the edge it looked bad so I pulled the whole thing off. BAD move as the screen underneath it is very easy to damage and I got a few scratches on it before I fitted the new covers above. It now looks as good as new so I seem ot have got away with it.
Has anyone else removed this thick protector? In theory if you got a bad scratch on your screen you could pull this off and wack a new protector straight on fixing the screen for just a few quid.
Hej there,
i got some of these:
http://tinyurl.com/5gaobo
dirt-cheap (especially in euros) and really good quality, easy to apply and no scratches from the stylus at all (the protector i used before got scrachted immediately) ...
and the best thing is it ships free worldwide, really can recommend these
At BOL you can get the original HTC screenprotector. A 2-pack for only 5 euro.
Or.... a whole new digitizer for $10 Euro... I considered the prices of screen protectors and decided to skip placing one on my Touch altogether. I carry mine in the protective pouch and if or when it will get too scratched to look good, I'll just replace the touch screen.

I also decided to skip using the screen protector. I keep mine in it's case all the time (except for when I am using it). I have gone through 2 screen protectors in 6 months - They scratch way too easily if there is even the slightest bit of debris on your finger and they smudge to easily as well. Now that I am not using the screen protector, the screen is clearer, Colours are more vibrant, sensitivity to touch is better and I can write with the stylus better.

Exactly!!! Hated the protector on it too!!! Love the "naked" look and feel.
Chinese screen protectors are available for 1dollar only. im using one & its not too bad. i keep changing evry 2 months.
the screen protector supplied free with it in egypt is very bad it is massively scratched but i hesitste to remove it because it may leave marks of adhesive substance
Any place to buy this in AUS ..i also need a new one..
has anyone here used the TMOBILE "in the box" screen protector ?
mine already had a thin film protector and a spare one in the box ... been using it with thin film one since last few weeks and i am not completely sure if i should change it
any experiences / advice would be highly appreciated ...

Screen + Body Protector ?

I was trying to find screen protector for HTC aria and all i found is from ebay. Zagg invisible shield dont even have it yet
On the zagging you could order the hd mini and cut for the optical
being a user of zagg on previous phones i can't imagine it playing very nice with a touchscreen.
Screen + Protector?
Try Amazon.com the screen protector product is made by Amzer for the HTC Aria.
I am a new user so I can't post the link.
I just purchased the screen protector from AT&T and the edges on all 4 corners protrude ... when I put the back case back on it pushed each corner up.
Has anyone else had problems with the AT&T protectors?

Keep in mind that the Amzer protectors don't ship until 7/13 (according to their website).
Me? I'll probably go the HD Mini protector + hole punch DIY route that others are suggesting. Too many opportunities to scuff up my screen with kids in the house.

I have the same problem with the screen protectors I got when I bought my Aria. I will apply another one tomorrow and cut the edges before I apply.
Zagg are great for touch screen
I have been using Zagg's stuff on my old iPhone and my wife's iPhone and they worked great. I actually prefer the feel with the invisible shield applied. I am bummed that they don't have one that is designed for the Aria yet. Anyone actually tried the HD mini one with success?
I got the Amzer® Rubberized Black Snap On Crystal Hard Case for HTC Aria. It doesn't ship 'till 7/13, but that's only 2 weeks, so I can live with that. I got this case because it's like a soft/hard case, and I think that will work better than an all-hard or an all-soft case. Then I got a Gadget Guard screen protector. I was originally going to get an Amzer screen protector, but I read reviews saying Amzer's screen protectors are really bad. Hopefully, their cases will be okay. This is the only company so far I've seen that are making cases for HTC Aria. I didn't know what AT&T had because I bought mine at Best Buy. Btw, from Best Buy, you don't need to do the rebates, because they already include it in their price.
as for the screen protector i got a package of 4 universal screen protectors
from there I took a hole punch to make a whole for the optical button then applied the screen protector to the phone without the case and trimmed it with a razor blade.

Zagg has one up on their site now. Just ordered mine.

zagg is now selling screen protector, or full body protectors
Edit... aww eff someone beat me to it... same reasoning as well.... sigh... haha
Has anyone ever used the Phantom Skinz?
I briefly tried a Zagg Invisible Shield (invisible my ass) on my previous phone and it made the screen noticeably less clear and it was very hard to clean pocket lint off of it because it was so grippy.

I used to use them on all my blackberrys. You just dip them in water and apply it to your device. To me they all look the same, I would say that phantom is not as thick as zagg but performs just as well.
Does anyone have feedback on the zagg cover for the back of the aria? I am surprised that they even make it since its got a rubberized type coating. The screen protector is a must do, but the back I cant see for the aria.
Of course they come out with the specific cover days after I buy a different one and cut to fit. Dohhhhhhhhh!
Another thumbs up for Phantomskins. Easy ordering, fast shipping, easy installation.
For the first 24hrs or so, (Dry-ish california weather) the screen touch sensation is a bit grippy, but after a day or so it becomes slick again.
I ordered front only as I see no need to protect the back, and if there is a very nice case one day I will get that anyway. My immediate problem was protecting the glass front. So I ordered just the front skin, which covers the entire phone front as shown on the phantomskin website.
After drying, viewed at an angle the surface appears wavy but viewed straight on it is perfectly invisible. Skin fits aria perfectly.

I left that until my xtremeguard protector arrived (I had to import it from the US because in México I couldn't find anything for the x) and after one week it looked like the phone was in a knife fight.

I give the ArmorSuit a big meh. After a 5 days I'm starting to see orange peel around the edges and its still pretty tacky. I like it better than a Zagg, but still not a big fan.
iSmooth screen protectors are inexpensive with a lifetime warranty, even if it's bad install they replace them. You get 3 in a pack with a very nice size micro fiber cloth. Amazon has them on sale for under $10.

I went to Best Buy and purchased a Zagg and had the sales associate install it. I waited around while it was installed but was not able to really inspect it because I had to quickly leave and get back to the office. When I was able to really check it out, the Zagg had many air bubbles....large bubbles, not the small-ish ones that dry out and go away. And, there was dirt and dust under the Zagg. Plus, the Moto X Zagg does not cover the entire screen, it has a relatively large border on all sides. I returned the Zagg, got a complete refund, and went to the Verizon store down the street. I purchased the screen protector Verizon sells, used my corporate discount, and they even installed it for free. I must admit, I was very skeptical about the Verizon screen protector, only planned to use it while I read the XDA forums and reviews for Moto X screen protectors, but the Verizon one is holding up very nicely. The Verizon sales associate who did the install laughed when I told her about the bad install that Best Buy did, and she told me she was an expert, and I have to agree. She cleaned the device, used tape to remove dirt and dust and aligned the screen protector perfectly. Cheap, free install and looks great. Win!
Don't buy BoxWave!
I would recommend NOT buying BoxWave screen protectors for Moto X. I got some for my Galaxy Nexus last year and they were too narrow, but I never returned them. When I got a Nexus 5 here to test I used them temporarily and loved the feel, so I decided to give them a try for the Moto X. They don't fit right. If you line up the hole for the mic, the top part covers the earpiece and camera; if you line up the top, the mic is covered. Here's a link to my "customer image" uploaded to Amazon.

I got the Power Support ones from Motorola when I ordered my Moto X, and I love it. I tried the iSmooth protector from Amazon on my wife's Moto X yesterday, and it sucks. It went on fine and looks good, but it is "sticky" when I slide my finger across the screen. We both tried it along side mine, and the Power Support is definitely slicker and easier to move a finger across. I removed the iSmooth from hers and used the second Power Support one that came with my order.

I have never NOT used one, but I have had to replace them eventually because they got scratched and scuffed. But my screen did not. I have to assume that had I not had the screen protector on, the screen would have been the thing that was scratched and scuffed, and that I would have been able to do anything about it.

I never had a screen protector on my OG Droid, and never had a problem. When it became dirty with skin oil and whatever else stuck to it, I would get my finger wet, moisten the entire screen, then wipe it with a cotton cloth. In two years I never got any noticeable scratches on the screen. It was never in a case either, and I even dropped it a few times onto carpet-covered concrete floors from up to 6 feet high, and it never suffered any real damage other than a scratch on the bezel. When it wasn't in use, it was always in a holster - never in my pocket with other things that might scratch it.
That said, I would NEVER go without screen protector or a protective case again.

I have to say, I think it is the best screen protector I have ever used, at least in terms of how it looks and feels. I can't speak to the long-term durability yet, since I have only had it for a few weeks. But it is definitely nice to use.
I like the PowerSupport (Brilliant at least) too. It's pricey, even with the 30% off accessory discount Motorola had, but it's a quality SP. This is Made in Japan. You get two SPs and some dust removal accessories in the package. I didn't need to use them since I went directly from factory SP to the PS SP.
The SP itself is very smooth in feel and glide; not quite glass, but very close. I like the way it feels. The PS Brilliant does show fingerprints but it's not horrible in that regard. The underlying screen's picture quality is still Brilliant as the name implies.
My only nitpick is an aesthetic one: the cutout on the top is not symmetrical (left and right of the center earpiece), but I can give them a pass on that due to the sensors in the top left complicating things.
Is it the best SP for the moto x? I don't know; I am not a SP aficionado and it's the only one I've tried on the X, but I do know I am happy with it.

Depends what you do with your phone. Every phone I've had has been in an otter box with holster.... Or seidio and holster on my s2....So I don't use screen protectors. I had one long ago and it was scratched up quick. Ever since I go without. My s2 after 2 years.... And working construction with my phone always with me.... Had one small scratch that wasn't even noticeable with the screen on. Again tho... My phones are in a holster... So the screen has awesome protection already. And my dirty hands and fingers have never scratched my screens.
My Moto X is now in an otter box defender... But I removed the built in screen protector from the defender... It really made it harder to touch things on the screen. So again... No screen protector now.
If I kept my phone in my pocket, I'd probably use a screen protector. But I'd miss the naked screen feel.
Sent from my Moto X cell phone telephone.....
