I've installed a lockscreen on my X-Play that caused my Phone to go on a Loop.
I forgot to do a Recovey and now on ICS, but before that though its on a loop i still created a backup of my files.
Now my question is from what part of the recovery can i get my Contacts? I have important numbers that i could never get anymore. Is there a component in the recovery to get those contacts?

Go to advance restore option in recovery n restore only data. That should giv u everything that u hav before. Hope that helps.
Would that work since im using ICS now? My previous rom is TrueAncestor running on 2.3.7? Btw thanks for the response, id do recover as soon as it won't interfere on what firmware im using.

No it wont. So try backing up what using now n flash stock .ftf n restore the data u sav n copy everything u want to ur sdcrd. After doing that u can restore the ics u backed up ealier. Thats the only option u got i guess.
thanks for the quick response. all the risk that i have to take just to get those once again. the replies are well appreciated. thanks. time to close the case

I don't thing anybody's gonna go for that. You'll have a lot of their info if they do that. You're probably gonna have to find an ruu and go stock, then root and make another backup. Besides nandroids are for girls and scared boys j/k
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
You should rather let us know which file you're missing so that someone may upload that for you. Like wikdNoob said, a Nandroid's got way too many personal files unless someone had made one at stock without even adding a Google account (next to impossible). Moreover, it's freaking huge and uploading would be hell of a pain. So again, which file?
well since i'm a scared girl i have my nandroid, i can upload it for you, but ofc only system, boot and recovery partitions... will post link whenever i upload it

Hey, nothing personal, just havin fun
^^ in my country buying a phone ain't a cheap thing... buying second one unexpectedly cause of permabricking recently bought one might be deadly for my wallet... i prefer safe flashing... it saves our environment ^^
I have a LT18i, Android 4.0.4 with build .431 and it is rooted and has a locked bootloader. I have looked everywhere for a way to install clockworkmod recovery on it without flashing a custom rom or kernel, but it doesn't seem possible. Next, I tried a clockwork based recovery but only found DoomLord's recovery. But it had LT26i or Xperia S listed as the device so I'm not sure if it would work on mine. Will it? If not, is there any other clockwork based recovery I could install?
try the CWM Auto Installer on Google Play
Download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market. That should give you access to CWM.
Do keep in mind that it's been reported that the phone doesn't charge if you switch it off; it tends to bootloop. It works fine if the phone is on though. Pvy will be updating the app shortly.
This works well if you want to take Nandroid backups and (or) flash update.zips.
And if you do plan on flashing custom kernels, you would need to unlock your bootloader. For custom ROMs, you're limited to Stock based ROMs till you do decide to unlock your bootloader.
Cheers!

Thank you for your reply. I found a thread about Pvy's installer but there it was stated.that it would only work on Gingerbread 2.3. It wasn't stated so on Google play though. So are you sure it would work on Ics 4.0.4?

See this thread. It states donot install if not on GB.

Trust me, it works. I'm using it on my arc on ICS 4.0.4 .
And the only problem of using this on ICS was mentioned in my earlier post. I'm quoting it below.

Thanks for making the application pvy. I installed it and it worked perfectly except for the charging issue. But I wonder what would happen if the battery got completely drained and the phone switched off? Just curious to know since it wont charge when it's off.

Just plug in the charger and power it on. There shouldn't be an issue.
You can fix thr bug by downloading a charger file which fix offline charging...

Hello this is my first post and I come to request some help.
I have a htc one v and was trying to update to jelly bean through steps from Android Authorty's guide
After completing this set of instructions I booted up my phone and sadly all I got was a htc screen with the red writing which then turned black and nothing happened after that.
Im pretty worried right now, I dont have much knowledge about androids and I have but a clue as to what I have just done.
Is it permanently damaged? How do i fix this or atlest restore it to the factory state.
Please help!

as for the OP: make sure you also flash the KERNEL for the respective rom. it is not enough to install only the ROM. You need also the kernel because we currently have S-ON devices.

To start over, u should have the stock kernel. U have restored the stock nandroid then u must flash stock kernel...or it will not boot...
Did u flash the kernel at time of installing JB??

Don't forget to make a backup with CWM or what ever recovery you use.

Hey i just tried to do this and got error while making backup image of /system
OK so i figured out that i am truly a noob.
I was attempting to install the CDMA version when i needed GSM.
Proud of myself for solving this i went to install the gsm version but sadly now i only get the htc screen with red writing.
It dosent change from there.
Have i done permanent damage because i installed the CDMA version!?
now im getting something really weird my phone goes to the htc screen with red writing then shuts off by itself and then turns on again by itself in a endless cycle of this red writing htc screen.

Alright... let's get your phone fixed!
I assume you have:
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Installed a recovery
3. Installed a custom CDMA ROM
4. Then installed a GSM ROM
5. Now phone keeps rebooting?
Is that correct?
im beginner at all, the most thing im not use is backup

What version firmware? Best is use CWM flash stock deodex version of your firmware, this should bring you back to stock.
Otherwise use flashtool reflash stock firmware.

Can you go steps by steps what you did? Also is your bootloader unlocked?
Edit: you could also use your PCC to fix the phone - turn off the phone. Run PCC, hit support - repair ... follow the steps, it will ask you to hold Vol.Down + plugin usb. Let it does its thing ... // try it, see if that fix your phone.

Agreed....but from this picture...your file structure is a freaking mess...
Are you wiping the device between flash attempts ??
Recovery is seeing all kinds of messed up stuff...and recovery is likely borked as well...
First and foremost...get an EFS file backup and put it on your PC....
Then wipe all data and caches...(from recovery only...DO NOT NAND ERASE USING ODIN) !!!
Then reflash your recovery...(odin)
Preferably TWRP latest version...(odin)
Then download CM to your PC....not phone...
Then place the downloaded rom to your sd card via USB connection...
Then boot to your new recovery and flash it....+ gapps...
Then boot the device with the fresh rom and wipe caches and data again...Then reboot...
Wow that's a lot of errors in the FS....but following the above information should help immediately....g
