Title says it all. I'm looking for a ROM that uses very few resources and runs smoothly on the One V.

[Q] HTC Desire HD ROM port to HTC Desire Original

Is it possible or potential probable that the dumped Desire HD ROM will be ported to the Original Desire, maybe merged with LeeDroid, Cyanogen or whatever ?
PLS discuss!

This is not seen atm, due to the pure size of the new dump. The lack of S-OFF isn't making it any better. Seeing as it has only been available for less than 48hours, little is known. Wouldn't it be better to discuss this in the actual dump thread, or at least read it? As most of the up-to-date information would be posted there.
The HD has no OJ, a 8MP cam, and a larger, different type of screen (TFT or whatnot). It also has a different processor, with more RAM etc, which allows the phone to "turn on" instantly, as it seems to be put into hibernation.
Maybe small additions such as the Rosie update, the HTC maps, the flip clock and a few features may be added to existing roms, but as good as the Rom Developers here are, give them some time to work, and at least wait for the good news, instead of starting to post threads that as for an update every 20 secs.
Check the dump thread for the most up-to-date info.

[Q] Which ROM would you recommend

Hey, hope there aren't a lot of threads with the same question but i didn't find one.
I will root my Desire the next days and then want to update to a custom rom.
There are some things i really need:
1. A2SD (that i can store any apps on the SD card)
2. Stable (NO bugs)
3. Sense (maybe normal sense, but might be also a port from the desire HD/Z)
4. Fast-Browser WITH Flash
5. (not so important) a Rom which is not overloaded and themed, i like the way sense looks, with all it's fonts and pictures.
Would ne great if someone could tell my what rom he would suggest for me and my needs.
Thanks
iNsertCoin HD/Z Port 1.9.5
in the video the menu seems to be a bit laggy. and the equalizer doesnt work. not that i need it but i dont like roms where something doesnt work... why would you recommend this to me?

One more voice for "iNsertCoin HD/Z Port". I am still using older version "1.8f".. No FCs, very nice and smooth. No lags for me.
Cool sense Cool Z v6 (i can't get V7 to work properly(its still in beta))
The HD roms from my pov, the fonts too small for my old eyes

I have been using the REMIxHD and it all seems to work very well, very fluid lag free flash works standard browser so might give dolphin ago. But then again when I got the LG GT540 on 2.1 thought it was good at the time.
I am using standard leedroid 2.3d. Working great for me and fits into your criteria.

The phone runs an older verison of the ROM in the video, which was laggy. EQ does not work, desire lacks of hardware.
I think you should go with a 2.2 Froyo ROM such as LeeDroid and not the HD/Z ports or Gingerbread.
I used to have RCMIXHD 3.0 A2SD and had a great experience with it. Surprisingly fast.
If Sense is not a priority for you, I'd recommend Oxygen or MIUI XJ, way smoother than any Sense HD port.
I used to love sense too. Sense is lovely.
These days though I realise that it's just eye candy - free yourself and get rid of it.
Go for Redux 1.0.2 (Gingerbread) which is the fastest smoothest ROM I've used (and I've used a lot).
Launcherpro has some god damn accurate Sense style widgets built in, and you can easily mod its dock to look the same as the sense dock, so you can have the sense look and feel, whilst still being able to use all the free space that sense usually takes up
This is what I'm currently running and I'm really happy with it.

I had a HTC hero before and used Android without sense, but the audio player for example sucks ...
i think i will stick to froyo and sense until the official gingerbread+sense comes out and someone has rooted it and created a custom rom.
Or is there anything in gingerbread that ist better than in froyo?

Actually i think LeeDroid is overloaded. The pictures i've seen are full with custom logos, fonts, etc, etc.
I Just want the original sense/sense HD style.
What ROM would you recommend? What about the Rooted Stock Roms?
And another question: Does slowing down the CPU when screen ist of (what is possible in some ROM's) really help for more battery life? I'm not really convinced and afraid of destroying anything on my loved HTC Desire..

There is nothing like that in LeeDroid. i think you are getting a wallpaper
confused with the os. or maybe you saw a boot animation and got it
confused either way it is "stock" sense with tweaks and it runs very
nicely. I swear by it anyway and put it on all my friends desires.
I went to HD roms but they either start running slow or take
too long to open things like the music player, this all bugged me so i
ditched it. I got the feeling that it wasnt designed for this hardware.
It might be good by now but who knows.
With leedroid i set the cpu scaling to "smartass" so it dips when nothing
is happening or the screens off and rises back to the top when in use.
"ondemand" does the same i believe but each governor has its advantages.
This all helps battery life but i cant say how much because ive been
running it for so long i dont notice.
Leedroid also has an intergrated fix for the charge issue with sense roms where
the battery is never at 100% when you take it off charge.
Try StarBurst lite is what you are looking for,
its Stock Sense with simple D2Ext. Kernel is LeeDroid 2.3 from snq - major Battery saver.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417
or try dsixda's Kitchen and cook your own Stock ROM with A2SD and just flash snq's Kernel.

Im using coolexe hd version 7,got a2sd sending apps to memory card. Batterys good, pretty much the same, but this is dependant on the amount of apps and things you get id say, The hd sense is much better in my opinion, more customization. Htc.com onboard but only some things work, lovely rom though id take that one a go,insertcoins good also, ive tried aurax also.all good.try them all mate, once you know the score test as many as u want!
A simple, stable gingerbread would be Oxygen 2.0.1.
A feature rich, fully customiseable alternative is the Cyanogen ROM (link in signature).
Choose whatever suits your needs.
I found this topic that is what I want to know. I hope it is not wrong to revive this thread.
I would like to root my Desire soon and update it to a custom rom.
There are some things i need:
1. Stable (NO MAJOR bugs -calls, sms, wi-fi, camera and basic functions should be working with no problems)
2. Android 2.3.4 or 2.3.5
3. A2SD (so i can store any apps on the SD card)
Would like to have, but not a must: Only if it works without laggs and buggs.
4. Sense 3.0 or 3.5 (for example like one from the desire HD)
I have htc Desire with official 2.3.3 Android (that I instaled from htc website) and is not rooted yet. I want to root and instal one of the newest android on my phone.
Therefore I would ask for some help, to help me choose the right one for me. I'm considering one of those:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250815
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040121
Would be great if someone could tell me which rom would you suggest for me. One of those 3 or perhaps one I misslooked.
I'm sorry for my spelling mistakes...
I'm grateful for any help or suggestion I might get.
Just installed Runnymede AIO V4.0 Special Edition, runs really smooth.
Before i switched to CM7, i used Insert coin and it was really really fast and was stable only reason i switched to CM7 was due to better themes and more settings
This is all really helpful, thanks so much to all you guys for doing this!!
My quick question on this, any of the roms that pretty much emulate a standard experience, e.g. the Starburst, plus app2sd functionality, any of these also support ad hoc wifi?
I believe there are ways of custom installing it, though are there (simple) roms out there which include it already?

[Q] What is the difference between Desire and Desire HD roms ?

What is the difference between the two Roms(HTC Desire and Desire HD) , in relation to performance and functionality.
Which sense ROM would you recommend that I get , and why?
i suggest insertcoin 1.9.5 with d2ext . flashed it today and its blazing fast
I have tried LeeDrOiD and also ReflexTSense.
I use A2SD+ for both.
To me, the HD ROM is not too impressive except for all those candies. It's a bit more lag than the LeeDrOiD and lags very badly when installing apps (because of A2SD+).
Also, HD ROM gets hot very very quickly - and that makes my setCPU keeps on reminding me about the temperature, bit annoying as I can't play my game peacefully.
That's my experience with these particular ROMs.
I have tried many rom but ownhe V.4.2 is very good, with the battery two days and is very fast
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796255 - Sense rom
auraxTsense 8.4 - look how quiet the board has been, since about 8.2 / 8.3 its very quiet.... why is that a good thing? Because people generally post when they need to fix something..... Neo's work is truly top notch
here ownheredesireHD v 4.3.0

upgrade 4.3.1

It's not only because of eyecandy (though nice to have, isn't it?). HTC put sooo much small improvements in usability of HD ROMs like better handling for copy&paste, selection in email, homescreen placement, customization (sound, background, themes,...) and small details in all HTC apps besides of including free offline maps and new widgets (great one for me is "tasks"), that i don't want to switch back to sense1. Even if sense2 would be a bit slower - which isn't for me (with coolexe's HD ROM). I also overclocked to 1190 and all games are running smooth as butter and phone doesn't get hot. No problems with battery (running skype and 3g all the day with some gaming, surfing, ...) - i had to charge stock ROM each day same as with HD ROM now.
For me it's worth trying HD ROMs. Don't want to miss it...

Stock-Personalized!

Hello all, ive been using several modded firmwares, but however i really don't need all the mods except for few!!! but now i'm moving on to a stock and i wish to mod it myself so Kindly help me out with the following, just want guide!
-HTC sense 3.0/3.5 layer (The visuals and updates)
-CRT TV Lockscreen Animation
-CPU speed
-enabling 720p
-Ext4 (How do i go about, i already have a partition but how do i make the apps get installed there?)
In my opinion the RCMixS suits to you a lot ^^
I'm using it and I love that rom. It doesn't receive an update since a long time ago, but, anyway, it's incredibly stable.
Thanx Sbarabau , will download i soon
Can also vouch for RCMix ROM. Used it for about 6 months, possibly the most stable and reliable ROM of it's time.
I have recently upgaded to Runnymede, but would recommend RCMix to anyone wanting simple, stable and dependable.

[Q] Which is the best ICS ROM for Desire?

Hi everybody!
I'd like to know which is the best ICS Rom for our HTC Desire...
At the moment i'm running Cyanogen7.1 and everything is fine, but i'm tired of gingerbread and don't want to wait Cyanogen9 to be stable
So, in your opinion, Which is the best rom for everyday-use?
I know there are camera issues, but this doesn't matter to me
What i'm looking for is good stability, good script for application to ext, and good (fast) browsing experience!
Also have a question:
What kind of Hardware Acceleration are ICS Rom using? Is it native support with latest Adreno driver or other?
The best ICS rom is to use the search function and try yourself.

but i don't have the time to try all the ICS Roms... So i would be grateful if someone that have tried various roms will give me any suggestion
Oh my look what I've found here using the handy search tool.
Five pages full of replies as to what is the best ICS rom. How convenient. All I have to do is give a little bit of my time to read them all and take it from there. I don't have to create a new thread, wait all day for replies that ends up flaming me.

Whatever it uses, it is not up to the task. kite edit: uncalled for :/
Edited by moderator. Maybe best if I removed the whole post so someone wouldn't think I'm actually being helpful in these kind of threads.
There is no "best ROM", most ROM's are different and people like different things.. some people prefer "eye candy" and other AOSP highly customizable ROM's.
It's up to personal preferrence.
I think there are only three anyway, and one of them is miui. So, try bcm and sandvold and see which one you prefer. Sorry I cannot help you more, because I never flash beta roms on my phone. I am using it too much...

MIUI has now been cut from development.
AOKP dev has paused development for a week or two due to other commitments, so it's a bit behind the other two, but will be back soon.
I personally prefer BCM over Sanvold's/ Nickez's release.
I also prefer BCM over others but there is one big problem for me that in some games like Angry Birds or Temple Run sometimes touch doesn't reacting, just hardware buttons.

IMHO:
It all depends how fed-up with gingerbread you are. There are currently no ICS roms for Desire that would match Gingerbread based ones in terms of speed and stability. That being said, BCM and Sandvold are at the stage where they can be used on a daily basis as long as you willing to accept that your phone might be unresponsive in critical situations.
AFAIK:
BCM is made from CM9 source soi if you come from CM7.1 this would be the smaller change in functionality (regarding mods). It's up to you whether it's a good thing or not.
Sandvold's rom is made from Evervolve source. (I'm not that familiar with that.)
I started ICS usage with Sandvolds rom a few months ago then I switched to BCM for the reasons mentioned above. These two roms' update rate is pretty muck head-to-head. Currently (AFAIK!) Sandvold's one has video recording and support for barcode scanner with higher instability while BCM only has photo capturing but more stable at that.
Both roms use Drewis kernel for HWA and not native drivers as when the drivers were made available most of the functionality they would provide were already ported by drewis and since he is more comfortable with his own source he keeps improving that.
Keep in mind that the official drivers for the chipset not for Desire in particular so official drivers wouldn't be answer for all HWA related problems. (I heard somewhere that HTC had a wierd way of implementing camera, but that might not be true.)
There's a new thread called COS-Bravo ICS by roalex. Haven't tried it yet but it seems very active recent days.
The project of Sense 3.6/4.0 porting looks very delicious, too.
