[Q] What is the difference between Desire and Desire HD roms ? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference between the two Roms(HTC Desire and Desire HD) , in relation to performance and functionality.
Which sense ROM would you recommend that I get , and why?

i suggest insertcoin 1.9.5 with d2ext . flashed it today and its blazing fast

I have tried LeeDrOiD and also ReflexTSense.
I use A2SD+ for both.
To me, the HD ROM is not too impressive except for all those candies. It's a bit more lag than the LeeDrOiD and lags very badly when installing apps (because of A2SD+).
Also, HD ROM gets hot very very quickly - and that makes my setCPU keeps on reminding me about the temperature, bit annoying as I can't play my game peacefully.
That's my experience with these particular ROMs.

I have tried many rom but ownhe V.4.2 is very good, with the battery two days and is very fast

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796255 - Sense rom
auraxTsense 8.4 - look how quiet the board has been, since about 8.2 / 8.3 its very quiet.... why is that a good thing? Because people generally post when they need to fix something..... Neo's work is truly top notch

here ownheredesireHD v 4.3.0

It's not only because of eyecandy (though nice to have, isn't it?). HTC put sooo much small improvements in usability of HD ROMs like better handling for copy&paste, selection in email, homescreen placement, customization (sound, background, themes,...) and small details in all HTC apps besides of including free offline maps and new widgets (great one for me is "tasks"), that i don't want to switch back to sense1. Even if sense2 would be a bit slower - which isn't for me (with coolexe's HD ROM). I also overclocked to 1190 and all games are running smooth as butter and phone doesn't get hot. No problems with battery (running skype and 3g all the day with some gaming, surfing, ...) - i had to charge stock ROM each day same as with HD ROM now.
For me it's worth trying HD ROMs. Don't want to miss it...

Which is the best Desire HD ROM for my Desire?

Hey guys.
Im looking for a GOOD Desire HD ROM to use on my Desire.
I want a ROM for ALLDAY not a Benchmark ROM
I want a ROM with as few as possible bugs
I want a ROM which leaves much internal storage for apps
I want a ROM which supports German
Hope u guys can give ma a few good Desire HD ROMS
Or is it better to use LeeDrOiD for now?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703
Seems to be a very popular ROM for my Desire right?
best hd rom
i recommend baadnwz rom it is the fastest around. it has plenty of memory and it does surport german.
Known bugs:
- 720p recording working now but records green
- Some streaming videos, shows just "audio", no video
- editing personal dictionary causes FC - due to Desire Z IM
it has the least bugs i have seen in all of the hd roms
p.s don't forget you need an ext partition
link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861690
if you want no bugs at all then use leedroid but the sense experience is no where near as good and in my mind the new sense makes up for the bugs even with the small bugs which will be fixed pretty soon
i use z it super fast

the only way to find out is to try them all , we could say this and that but at the end of the day what works for us might not work for you

i use baadnewz btw
Thank you all for your input.
I wonder why some of you would choose Baadnwz over LeeDrOiD. Some pros and Cons would be highly appreciated
Also wonder if anyone have tried the latest Oxygen 2.3 rom and how it is compared to the previous mentioned once.
Cheers!
The new ROMs from Desire HD and Desire Z have a new launcher, which compared to the old launcher from the original Desire have a few nice additions. For example, you have auto-rotate on your main screens, better browser, more customization options and many other things. What I also noticed is that the new launchers run smoother than the old one.
This was my main reason to switch from LeeDroid (which is great and stable, by the way) to Z.
SuperVillainHD
The best rom if installed yet is the SuperVillanHD Rom! its nice, fast, stable and works perfect (now that they fixed the cam! THANKS!) i recommend it.
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?150-SuperVillainHD-for-Desire
PS the only sad thing is that its been a while that they have not brought out a update! but still.... i haven't changed it yet...

I would like to have a rom which doesn't drain battery so much but still enables to integrate facebook into calendar and contacts?
I tried Baadnewz but I like using Swype for input but it doesn't work very well with the new "select text" system. Is it just me or is this a known problem with the Swype/Desire HD combination?

[Q] What rom do you use? Looking to try a few different ones out :)

Hi there
So quite simply, what rom do you use and what's great about it and what's not so good?
I've got ARHD at the moment, rock stable, battery is good (it usually idles at about 3ma) and has the ability to over/under clock.
I'm thinking of trying some form of CM7, but which one? What do you think of rcmix? I need a rom that's good enough for every day use (not experimental, I will still be calling, sending sms and browsnig) Help me please
If you want to use something like CM7 or let's say something like pure google, try [email protected] by adwinp.
This ROM has the best performance of all, especially the graphics performance is amazing.
Battery life should be about the same as on other roms.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk
CM7 is good and fast , didn't find it all that amazing though missed the functionality of my camera! So I started on the same journey to find a good rom , stable oc'able , with good support and regular updates fixes..
In the end I have settled on beatmod gingersense , running the 1.2 version for now shortly moving it to 1.3 ..
Mind you this is all if you like sense .
A quick link to save time too.

i'm using tb fusion http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077180 but when i'll have some time i'll switch to honeysense 4.0
Hey!
I'm using LeeDroid HD a long time. At first the Froyo version and now Gingerbread.
I was very sceptic about sense, in my first attempts to use it it was extremely laggy and used to freeze and force close at least once a day.
So I tried other launchers, CM 6 and 7, but in the end I went back to LeeDroid. His last version, V3.1.3 with the 3.1.4 kernel is very stable, smoother than all other roms I used and Sense is doing very well, I was surprised. What is important to me is a good battery life and the battery lasts up to 5 days, depending how often and long I use the phone.
That was a big problem of CM. The battery drained very fast, although I liked the idea of a clean Android.
Hope I could give you some impressions
Maybe this poll + thread will help you out.
I'm on Android Revolution HD btw, absolutely great rom
I use LEVO 2.5V
I think is wonderful rom
DeSiRe HD -> XDA App
Currently on ARHD, but I'm going to try something differnet this weekend, sticking with a Sense mod, just my personal preference. Think I'll try either RCMix3D or Honeysense 4.
I used Revolution HD for a long while and it's an excellent rom. However, it becomes a problem when you want to move from the stock look to something more personal, because many mods come separately and overwrite files previous mods changed. I recently switched to HoneySense and despite not being so mature it has the look I want (no more custom zips at last) and works pretty well with minor flaws. MIUI also has a place in my heart although I'd miss some Sense goodies if I switched, which is what keeps me away for now.
I hope it helps.
+1 for honeysense v5.0 battery excellent speed excellent and very pretty.
Sent from my DesireHD using Honeysense v5.0 via the XDA app!
After using CM7 for several months, as well as a brief stint with LeeDroid 3.1.3, I'm back to stock.
CM7 + LordMod kernel, despite flashing updated radios and RILs, wrought havoc on my reception and GPS. I dropped 50% of my calls, and GPS took ages to lock on (even after using Fast Reboot + FasterFix). Moreover, my 3G connection would drop out constantly, which was a PITA when streaming Last.fm and AudioGalaxy.
LeeDroid solved my reception issues, but it would spontaneously reboot and get caught in a boot cycle until I pulled the battery. This happened at least twice a day.
So it's back to stock for me. I miss the freedom of custom roms, but when it comes to my primary communication device, I need stability. Being on KT in Korea, I haven't got the GB OTA update yet (booooo), and I can't download games from the market.

Rom for everyday use

It's been a while where ppl always compare the best desire rom out there... let's discuss what rom u guys recommended for everyday use... I'm currently using Oxygen rom, fast stable and hell lot of spaces, and since i'm starting to use 3G, i gonna switch to sense rom, needed sense widget and stuff, might get insertcoin rom... what about u guys?
I'm currently using InsertCoin Sense 2.1/3.0 1.1.4 and although it is great to look at, I perhaps wouldn't recommend it for everyday use as in the new version I have been experiencing some lag and unfortunately (and probably most importantly) it hasn't been too great with battery life.. although I haven't used SetCPU to try and improve it.
I would almost be tempted to go for a FROYO based ROM, but I think what you'll have to do is test a few and see how they perform for you.
I'm running InsertCoin 1.1.4 as well and I'm having a blast. It does lag every now and then, but my battery life's brilliant - I usually have about 30% left when I go to bed. I'm probably not the heaviest user on the planet, though.
I'm using SetCPU though, so that might be why. It's set to 499-1190 (smartassV2) with a Screen Off rule for 245-460. Seems to do the trick.

Can highly recommend oxygen.
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I've been experimenting with ROMs for a few months now. Here is what I've found:
1) The most stable, light, low power ROM that I've used is MIUI. It has everything you need out of the box.
2) If you don't like the MIUI interface (read: like an iPhone and Android combined), the next best is Redux 1.2. Very low power, but very basic. It is basically a shell as I didn't like a lot of the stock components. I had to get a new launcher, dialer, contact manager and SMS app.
3) Sense-based ROMs feel nice until the battery dies... which happens way too quickly. The stock ROM was the most stable for me, I just wanted Gingerbread. All of the Sense-based ROMs that were non-stock seemed to buggy for me.
I'm a computer engineer, so I don't mind playing around with technology, but MIUI and the stock ROM were the only ones that I'd recommend to somebody less technical (or somebody that just wants the smartphone to work and not have to constantly look for fixes and / or ways to make the phone work the way it should out of the box) for daily use.
Yes I'm using that Rom too and can't fault it. It's fast for a sense 3 Rom.
Currently on MIUI 1.8.26.
Cant comment on the batt yet since i just flashed this yesterday but hell yeah, its fast.....

I have to say I disagree with almost all of that
It's based in cm7 so its one of the heaviest aosp Roms around.
To compare, miui xj, with my brutal stripping, I got down to 90MB bare bones. That's 30 MB bigger than dGB and 25MB bigger than redux in the same state.
Also imho, cm7 is heavier on battery, ergo so is miui. Redux is better power wise, although a miui custom kernel could help them there.
Out of interest what mA are you getting on 3g whilst idle?

Vote for your favorite ROM, my opinion

Due to massive upload of sense 3.5 ROMS, this thread can be deleted.
Too much of the same, I find personally
The WFSDEV team should work together to make one or two good sense 3.5 ROMS.
But no, what do we see, 5 or more ROMS which are almost the same.
And then they're all claiming its their own work, and asking for thanks / donations.
Users get confused, don't know what to try, ...
I claim that HenseMod is fully themed by me only, I've chosen the icons, wallpapers, fonts, ..., and I'm proud of it
The WFSDEV team isn't a team either, I asked to other team members to help me with a cwm zip and no news of it. Hate that.
So I think I will leave the WFSDEV team, nah
Cm7 & hensemod.
Cm7 as my main then hensemod maybe a couple of days a month when I'm bored lol

Here's my 2 cents:
(First of all, I have flashed and re-flashed EVERY custom ROM that I could get my hands on - from this site or otherwise - onto my WFS... here's my quick overview.)
- I currently run m1ndh4x8r's Cracker. It's smooth (like Hense), stable, and as close to stock as you can get (without actually running the rooted stock.)
- The rooted stocks are, by far, the most stable (but everyone wants an overclocked kernel, so stocks are out).
- The NonSense ROM was quite nice, but only at GB 2.3.3.
- Matteo ROM is fast, but not much else. Not a lot of internal space left, the gallery function is broken (when accessing thru the camera app) and the default font is absolutely useless - be prepared to change it) There is no built-in advanced power button menu. Bootup animation is annoying. Also, Matteo breaks the proximity sensor on your phone.
- Marvelous ROM: Fantastic (but not overclock'ed)
- CM7 is, I find, very unstable. Not to mention the ugliest ROM I've ever seen. Sure, you can theme it... but the system stuff still looks pretty gross. CM7 is notorious for it's POOR handling of graphics (but it makes up for it in speed and TONS of free internal space leftover). That being said, I could never get a decent Antutu score running CM7. Overclocked at 806 + "Performance" gov., I still can't break 1690 (about 1750 if I use "Smartass + bfq").
CM7 has a crappy camera, crappy dialer, and crappy contacts feature.
Not a fan of the launcher, either.
Also, CM7 breaks the SMS notification feature (over the SMS icon).
Did I mention it looks horrible? I'd rather sacrifice a couple meg's of RAM+space in order to get a phone that looks/feels decent and is a pleasure to use. But that's just me, what do I know.
- Hense was my favourite, until I discovered the Setting widgets is broken... and other odd quirks like the HTC Skin feature is not linked (Link2SD) properly... leading me to believe it's not quite as true to stock as can be (like the m1ndhax0r roms, for example). Hense was quite smooth and peppy. The only changes I made to that was ripping out the new SMS and putting in the old one (no one likes those god damn bubbles) and I think replacing the Market back to old version too). Nice bootup/shutdown animations.
- I even played with the MIUI "port" (well.. not really a port, but...)
This ROM has potential in that it's fast and has even MORE internal space and RAM leftover than CM7... but it's still based on CM7.
Once you taste the Sense UI, it's hard to stay away from it (for very long). But, your mileage may vary.
To summarize, I find the m1ndh4x8r ROMs the best overall (but they are not perfect... their small internal space is problematic, but can be resolved with the usual tweaks n' tricks). Like I say, I'm currently on Cracker (but always on the lookout for newer/better ROMs) and I haven't had any problems with it so far:

Currently using Hensemod because it's fast and i can play RR2 smoothly . The only problem I encountered was with link2sd. After installing 130 apps, system keeps telling me memory is low after reboot. So I switched to data2sd and everything seems flawless except for a slight decrease in antutu score, which is just fine for me as long as i can still play RR2 smoothly
I also saved a nandroid backup of m1ndh4x8r rom. It was my personal favorite before I installed Hensemod. It's really fast, i even got a higher 3D antutu score with it compared to Hensemod.
Totally agree with Tigger. CM7 is nice in terms of memory. However when it comes to graphics specially 3D, it's very poor. Sluggish when playing HD games such as RR2. Pictures taken with it's camera are so ugly i can't live with it. Installing third party camera apps did not solve the problem either. I guess it's CM7 itself.
I also tried every single rom posted here, benchmarked, installed 3d games and experimented with the mods available to enhance it. But i believe Hensemod and
m1ndh4x8r are the best.
Best JxMatteo ROM for me I use Link2SD this best choose for me. I try data2sd supported roms but my micro sdcard too slow so phone performance very bad.
