what are the differences between the touchwiz roms and aosp like cm9 and AOKP. Which one yield a better battery life and which is more stable?

Try them all for yourself and find out. There are things I like about tw based roms but there are more things I like about aokp. Battery life is about the same for me. Some say cm9 has the worst battery life though.

I'm currently new to Android ROMs, and I currently have CM10 installed on my S3 and I was wondering if there are any better JB roms out there? I find on CM10, my MMS does not work and the battery life could be better, although it is comparable to Touch Wiz. Is AOKP's JB Build 2 any better in terms of battery life and features? How about other ROMs? I tried searching for peoples opinions but theres no actually analysis between all available ROMs and which one would be the definite best. By
Honestly the best way is to compare them yourself and try them out. Also read up on custom kernels which play a role on battery performance as well. I'm running Paranoid Android which has a Cm10 JB base and Hybrid UI, I suggest you check it out if you like cm10. Ultimately it's up to you but It's OK to ask.

ill answer your question easily.
what ever rom you like the best. that is the best rom.
I've been running the ParanoidKang 1.40 rom for about a month now and have been completely satisfied. Its fast, stable, lots of customization, good (not great) battery life, etc. I usually flash a bunch of diff roms just to try them out and have been getting the itch. Is there anything out there that's comparable but maybe just a little bit better. I like the AOSP/AOKP roms better compared to the TW ones. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Try liquid smooth. It was my daily ROM for a while

Just a simple thing. Are you running an AOSP based rom, or as TouchWiz based Rom?

At the moment, I'm running Kobridge's ROM for the battery life (need it for school). I probably will be switching back to AOKP 4.2 soon though...both of these ROMs are fantastic, in my opinion.
I'm on Dastins Wild for the Night Cm10.1. Great rom in my opinion!

I get about 24 hours out of CM 10.1 with 2 hours of screen time. So battery life is pretty good.

I had Baked android 4.2 ROM and I was getting fairly decent battery life. I went to try out kobridges GA10 ROM and it seems like I am getting less battery. Most people use touchwiz for the battery. Is the battery better on aosp because its 4.2?

Its different for everyone but I get better battery life on GA10 than any AOSP rom I have tried.

Same here. The battery life has been better on AOSP since 4.2 (still not better than TW though )
Seems to me that 4.2 gets better screen on time and TW gets way better sleep time.

I agree! I keep trying to decide which to go on. The touchwiz roms have some cool features and usually better battery life. But 4.2 is AWESOME!
im currently running hyperdrive rs11
and jellybean 4.1.2
@hednik compiled this thread for the TW based ROMs: 4.1.X TW kernels
check it out and look them over for reviews and feedback
I used instigator x and faux when on it. Kernels really don't affect the battery as much as rogue wake locks and apps do.
