Typing changss in jelly bean - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is it just me or does punctuation no longer appear in the suggestions when typing out messages? I'm sure it used to before the update, is there any way to get this back?
Sent from a Galaxy Nexus in a ZT far, far away!

Noticed this as well. Takes a bit of getting used to. Would be nice to have it back the way it was

Yes, this is one of the "improvements" of Jelly Bean, predictive text. Fortunately, if you're like me and use punctuation more than predictions, just go to Settings>Android Keyboard Settings>Advanced Settings and untick the box labeled "Next Word Prediction".

Where/why did the question mark go in 4.1?

Hi,
since two days I have Jelly Bean installed on my galaxy nexus. The first thing that I see ist that the question mark is no longer in the bar above the keyboard after typing any word in. I have to long press the dot to get to the questionmark.
Is there any way to get it back like in 4.0.4?
I know this might look like a unimportant thing but this is the reason I never used swiftkey.
Noticed it too. Quite annoying. I liked having the punctuations up at the top of the keyboard when you hit spacebar. This is surely part of their redesign to do more predictive typing stuff. Which stinks because I was damn fast at the ICS keyboard I thought it was great.
Gonna look around in settings some more...

Check this app out...
Was ripped from the ICS system when I was stuck on Gingerbread...so I purchased the full version.
(Free version is great too).
The full version actually has more features than the stock ICS keyboard with the same fluidity/prediction/feel.
I'd highly recommend it.

Best Keyboards for S3?

I'm not really feeling the stock Samsung keyboard and I've been searching for a successful port of the HTC/Sense keyboard for the S3 with no luck.
It seems as if I'll have to find a comparable or better replacement. Any suggestions?
(BTW, my phone is rooted so there are no issues with flashing anything.)
Try SwiftKey 3! That's epic keyboard with best word reach speed.
It's radicolous in GPlay and probably best keyboard with international support.

+1 here too...
Another +1 for SwiftKey3. I switched over to it about six months ago and haven't even thought about looking for another one.
Tried a bunch, keep coming back to swiftkey
I downloaded original stock ICS keyboard works the best no problems
There's something wrong with swiftkey 3 for me.
I could start typing a sentence and it would end up looking like this : The quick brown fox jumped over the fefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefefe.
And once I'm in that lock, pressing backspace will just add more. Doesn't happen often but it's annoying.

Quick SwiftKey tip go into advanced settings and lower the time needed for long hold to around 200 milliseconds... Much better. Kinda like a 2 stage button

I used to be a Swiftkey fan until I tried Perfect Keyboard.

I personally use the Gingerbread keyboard. I find it to be very accuate and the autocorrect is spot on for me.
+1 Swype

This happens to me too! Very aggravating, I have to switch input types and that sometimes alleviates the problem.

Jelly bean jelly bean keyboard is my favorite...
SwiftKey is the choice for me, using it for a few months and I really can't see myself using anther, I can type super sloppy and still write perfectly.
I can sometimes type without even looking, for short texts or things like that

System applications without menu icons

Hello, I've got my nexus running xenon-hd and I've used the Rom settings to restore the traditional button arrangement I had on my captivate as you can see in the screen shot. My question is, with a menu button and search button now, is there a way to get rid of the three doors that appear on gapps like here in the messaging?
On jelly bean on my galaxy s 1, they weren't there because the phone has physical buttons. Not really a big deal, just curious. Thanks

I don't think it uploaded the picture correctly, trying again.
Nope, no dice, will try from my computer later, but for reference I mean this http://img.tapatalk.com/5224c050-7b59-f27b.jpg
Of course this isn't my phone, I have "menu, home, back, search" as the soft keys. But the three dots beside the attach icon are what I'm asking about removing

Spell Checker

I am aware of the keyboard shortages when it comes to auto correct. But does anyone know what happened to thw built in spell checker (red squiggly lines) within apps I had on my galaxy nexus?

I noticed the lack of autocorrect aswel.
I got sick of the stock keyboard after 3 days so i'm now back to using Swiftkey 3.
I'll just use the notification pull down to swap to stock for handwriting if i need it.
Sure, but changing the keyboard does not bring the sqigly line spell check feature back.

It looks like the ICS default android spellchecker (the one with red underline and dropdown suggestions) has been disabled by Samsung. (Not present on my wife's 10.1 tablet or my 3GS) and I can't find it anywhere on my new note II.
I am not looking for alternates, ( and can confirm the ICS spellchecker is not a function of 3rd party keyboards) I use thumbs keyboard and it's a pity good, but I have become accustomed to the ICS default spellchecker on my other android devices.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to activate it on a Samsung device?
Just out of interest does anyone have a good reason to remove (as opposed to just disabling it) it like Samsung has?
Ughh... I am curious too. I wish Samsung just left android the way it is. Or at least stop disabling features

Curious, has anyone found a solution to this problem?

autocorrect keyboard

Does anyone have suggestion for a keyboard that autocorrects? (maybe the stock android keyboard?) I'm running Jedi but the autocorrect doesn't automatically replace the mis-spelled words I have to manually click on the suggestion, and it doesn't come with the stock keyboard.
Jelly bean keyboard pro. Working good for me. With auto correct.

Stock aosp keyboard is the way to go. Google android 4.2 keyboard apk and just install it like any other app.

Another option would be SwiftKey 3 which is on sale right now. I was a little bit hesitant to buy a keyboard when the stock one was so good. However, the auto correct was a big deal for me. You're right in that the others have to be manually selected. Even more so, if you accidentally start the word with a number, it then has no idea. However, with SwiftKey, everything is good to go. I am actually able to type without even looking. Part of this is due to skill at typing in general but the rest of it is how amazingly accurate the correction is. Just my two cents.

SwiftKey is a great keyboard and time saver. Been using it since the original beta.
Sent from somewhere in the Kessel system using JediX 6.1.2 on an AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and Tapatalk.
Swiftkey is great and its prediction is near telepathic once you've used it a while and it learns from you. I have been using Swiftkey Flow lately and I like having the option to "swype". The only gripe I have is that there is no separate line for numbers. Having to long-press or change the layout to numerical really slows things down, especially at work.
4.2 keyboard.
