Diztronic TPU case review for Galaxy s3 - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hey guys,
Sorry I took so long reviewing this case. But here it is. I honestly think that diztronic is the perfect balance of protection and budget. This version for the s3 is awesome as well. Cant complain at all
Here you go enjoy!
http://youtu.be/WsUFhbZns58

I actually bought one of these from Amazon. I bought the clear white model, to match with my white SGS3.
Overall this thing is great. Like you said, it's a great balance of price/protection/form factor. My cutouts are ever, ever so slightly off, but it's so minor I didn't notice it until the second or third, when I was inspecting the case to see how it had been holding up. I'm pleased with it, and if this one eventually wears out I'll probably buy another...
If I don't break down and buy an Otterbox by then. I admittedly drop my phones sometimes (not that one, yet), and I'm terrified I'll break it.
Oh, and mine also came with a screen protector that was almost too small (it has to be aligned absolutely perfectly to cover the screen area), but I can only give them props for including one when I wasn't expecting it. Too bad I messed up the application, my fault, obviously.

I just received my case today (matte black). I'm very impressed with it as well, it fits MUCH better than the cheap $2 case I had picked up earlier. I wish it was matte all over (front is glossy) but it's otherwise handsome, feels nice, and fits very well. My cutouts are just slightly off as well but they're oversized (thankfully) so it doesn't affect function.
Already have a screen protector on so haven't tried Diztronic's out. I agree that it's a tad small, even taking into consideration the curvature of the screen.
Overall, highly recommended if you're looking for a TPU case.

i still have the Matte Black EVO LTE Diztronic case. It was the perfect case for the phone. I'm currently waiting for my s3 case to come now

I know right I still have my cases for the s2 and gn haha

Well I just got my TPU case, and it was a great fit, it would not work with my Moshi screen protector.
Sadly I am now looking for something else.

Fyi for you guys that are having trouble with screen shields ik rocking the sgp nano and it works like a charm

I have the Matte Black version and it works and looks really nice. Haven't had any complaints with it, also you get a screen protector with it too. Its a dry application one and even though I don't care to use screen protectors its very clear when applied.

Screen Protector that retains the stock glass feel

Are there any protectors out there that retain the bare glass feel? I don't care about finger prints or glare, just don't want any scratches I've fallen in love iwth how smooth the screen is
Yeah, I do have the same question. Digging through the 'Best Brand for screen protectors?' and can not find clear answer.
I even do not care to pay more for the ultra clear and same touch feel.
People, you did bought a lot of different brands. Could you please consolidate the feelings after week(s) of usage, anyone?
I have the PhantomSkinz on my Captivate, and I have a zagg on my zune HD. I also tried a ClearFreak on the Captivate for a week or so before the PhantomSkinz came in. Long story short, phantomskinz is a bit better than zagg, and both of them are much much better than the clearfreak. I wrote up a post comparing the three and posted pics here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7420035&postcount=22

SKINOMI.
Though you can feel the edges of the case protector, the screen protector is beautiful.
It is something like .08mm thick and adheres completely flush. I am a new fan of skinomi and love the picture/screen quality with it.

Hmm I will have to look into that I ordered a Seidio ultra clear last night (2 pack) so maybe I'll do a comparison
I use Realook on mine. It smudges up pretty bad but when its clean it looks fantastic. There is no adhesive so you can pull it up pretty easily and you get the standard two in a pack. The camera lens cover is a bit of a pain, the thing is so small its hard to keep fingerprints off the back side when putting it on but I got it on in the end.
Sorry to go off topic but did anyone purchase the screen protector from Samsung directly?

That's a good question. It sounds overpriced if you need only one kind, e.g. clear transparent. But if it's great it may worth it to buy. I would like to get a feedback.
I just got my two realook screens today. They do smudge easily but its not any worse then without the protector. It went on easily and I have one small bubble on the upper left corner which I am sure will go away in a day. Overall I am very happy with it, and for $11 for two shipped to my house, I couldn't pass it up.

How do they feel compared to the stock glass screen?
I had an Invisible Sheild full body skin...didn't like it. It wasn't super clear and was a little sticky, I just swapped my phone at AT&T today and they talked me into the screen covers they sell, I guess its new? 3 for $10, so far I like it 100x better than invisible shield, much clearer and closer to the glass feel!
Just got my Seidio protectors in yesterday They were really easy to install and left zero bubbles that were hard to remove. The clarity is awesome - I can't tell that there's a protector installed by looking at it. The surface does seem a bit less smooth than the glass, but I can live with it!

I bought two Skinomi's from Amazon (thinking I might screw up first installation). sure enough, I did screw it up first time, leaving big bubbles. But the second try went down perfectly (you gotta be very careful not to let fluid get into edges of phone during installation).
But ... in the end I found it felt like too much drag when swiping the screen compared to the naked screen. Difficult decision - I'll be really pee'd off if I scratch it, but I'm going naked for now - I'm just gonna be super careful.
I picked up some of the Skinguardz and they definitely have a rubbery feel.
I ordered SGP. Will let you know how it works when it will be delivered.

That is what I got at my local ATT store. They are alright, but at least they are super clear.
Apparently Martin Fields now has Captivate protectors in stock too. I've never used them personally, but I've read a lot a reviews that people swear by them -- a bit pricey though.

Just passing along the info.
Just got the realook protector from amazon in today and replaced the gadgetguard I was never satisfied with. Can't believe the difference- looks and feels like nothings there. And the install was leagues easier and foolproof.

after I went to phantomskinz, ghostarmor, boxwave, realook, bodyguardz and SGP websites, SGP is the most attractive one to me... please let us know how does it feel after you attach it! =)
and say no to bestskinever or invisshield/zagg if you want a smooth feel screen protector, i have them both for my cellphones and camera, which is very nice, but i dont think it will be nice if i put it on my touchscreen devices...

Quality of Built in Screen Protector on Otter Box Defender?

Hey everyone!
One of the cases that I'm considering for my GS3 is the Otter Box Defender. I know that it has a built in screen protector, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the quality of the built in screen protector is like? ie, clear, glossy, matte, scratch and fingerprint resistant, absolute crap, etc...? Does anyone have the Defender and use a different screen protector with it? The more information, the better. Thanks!
The feel of it as they have always been more like a clear glossier plastic. Its not Matte or smudge proof thats for sure. Is it the best screen protector out? Most certainly not, but its not really meant to be removed but doesnt mean you can rip it off cause i have done so with other phones I had. Mostly because I have always been a big supporter and user of the ZAGG Protectors which in my opinion are the best in terms of quality and build. But you really dont want to have a screen protector on and then use the otterbox with the added screen protector. Two to me is too many and can cause some interference with touch controls. I know there is prolly a million people on here that will say otherwise and they have done it without issues just my honest opinion when i had one on phone then used otterbox case with attached protector as well I hated it. The touch for me was way off. But if you dont end up liking it just get you a good screen protector and then when you buy the defender just pop off the one that comes with it. No worries.
I just got the Defender last week for GS3 and Love it! Its an amazing case and love the holster. I always end up buying one of these cases for my phones cause they just LAST.
Cheers!:highfive:
Case is good but the screen protector makes everything pixilated. Really hard to get past for me. So I tore out the screen protector and had a zagg hd put on. Works out well.

It, sux it makes the screen look grainy, i sold it and got the commuter instead, i just bought the defender because the screen protector, and since it sux i rather have the bit slimmer commuter.
I love the commuter btw.
I took the screen protector out also. Don't let that be what steers you away from the defender. The case is awesome, the product support is awesome. I keep thinking about getting a stick on protector but haven't yet. I use the holster so the screen is protected by that most of the time. I have scratched and scuffed the outer rubber of the case however. I emailed otter support asking if I could buy replacement outers in the future and explained that I scratched the case... No defect of the product. They asked for pictures and the next thing I know I have an invoice in my email... They are sending me a whole new replacement! You can't beat that service.
Got the Black Defender and the screen protector is utter crap. Invested in a ZAGG HD and never looked back.
The quality of the built-in screen on the Defender made everything look so blurry and pixelated.

Disagree - it's not good protection, in fact is bad for it.
Buddy of mine had a defender for his phone before. Over time dust, grit and what have you worked it's way in between the otter screen guard and the screen itself. Then everytime you touch it has the same effect as rubbing sandpaper on your screen. His got murdered from it.
You need a screen protector that adheres to the screen itself to prevent fine grains of dust, dirt, sand or what have you from turning it into a piece of sandpaper every time you touch it.
After seeing the destruction wrought on his screen, was in the defender from day one, and now owning a defender myself, I fully understand why the most common mod to the case is to take an Xacto knife and cut the screen guard out.
Do that and use a quality shield on the screen, you will be very happy you did.
^ I usually take my case off every other week to clean it, and I was surprised to see that barly any dust got in at all, the only places I saw was around the top where the little hole is at and around the camera/flash /speaker área , maybe his case was defective? Over all I'm impressed to see how clean my phone is every time I take off the case.

[Q] Screen protectors that don't make the screen look grainy?

I finally broke down and got an S3 today and also picked up a pack of the ridiculously expensive stick-on screen protectors that Verizon sells as I didn't want to take any chances in between buying the phone and getting some cheap ones. Anyway, the screen looks very grainy with the protector, especially when displaying lighter images. I really don't mind that much but when I'm taking pictures it really bugs me. I was wondering if anyone knows of a screen protector for the S3 that is durable but doesn't make the screen look all grainy.
Thanks!
The screen protector that comes with the otter box case is perfect. You really don't even notice it at all. It's the best screen protector that I have personally used

I'm not a big fan of the otterbox defender screen protector. As a matter of fact I am not even using it. I think there are a lot of protectors that don't look grainy, I wish I could find one that didn't show fingerprints.

I'm not a fan of cases in general, so I bought an Armor Shield full-body protector - essentially it's like screen protector film, but they send precut pieces to protect all of the phone rather than just the screen.
I'm really really impressed with the whole package - the body parts are cool in that they really just give a great grip (the stock phone is really slippery), but the screen protector is really impressive in all the ways screen protectors have disappointed me in the past.
This one doesn't feel rubbery (interestingly, since the body parts add grip), in fact my finger glides on it better than the glass surface. That was surprising.
And, this one doesn't collect fingerprint grease.
I'm betting armor shield sells the screen protectors solo... and probably affordable, I think the whole body package with the screen protector was only $15.
And it's clear, I think for your original question, just avoid "matte finish" screen protectors. Those are the ones with the hazy/grainy finish.

best non-glass screen protector?

hey guys. so I had a problem with the Zagg Shield HD...once I got the extended battery and the case for it..it kept lifting up. My wife has her on her phone and it's now got a bunch of marks on it.
So I tried the Spigen glas. protector. looks beautiful but always had sensitivity issues. They sent me a free replacement. still, i'm not enjoying the phone as much and I feel it's down to how I have to press extra hard on the back button and type extra slow...
so, what is the best "old-school" screen protector i can get that won't affect sensitivity but still protects the screen from scratches? I need one that won't go to the edges but also won't just be the screen part...if that makes sense. something like the coverage of the Spigen glas without the sensitivity issues i'm having with the glas.
thanks!
Try the Anzer/Amzer. What ever it is called. I plan on replacing my Spigen Glass screen protector with one of those. I hated my zagg invisible shield HD.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
searched Amazon and three versions came up. they all look like they go to the edge of the screen, which is not good with cases on the extended battery. that's why I had to get rid of the Zagg...
any others?
I am just using the one that came with my Diztronic case and I ordered a pack of 3 screen protectors from Amazon for $3.85 (for my wife's GS3). They are all clear, don't mess with the sensitivity, and look great. If I hand my phone to 10 people, 9 of them wouldn't even know that have I have a screen protector on there and the 1 that does know would know because they are looking for it.
I don't know why everyone insists on getting these tempered glass screen protectors or the Zagg-like (rubber feeling) screen protectors that you can't poke a pen or a drill bit through in a YouTube video. All I need is something that will keep my keys from scratching up the screen in my pocket and if it does scratch the screen protector I want to be able to replace it quickly and cheaply. For basically a buck each... You can't go wrong.
I still have the original 'cheap' screen protector on my old Vibrant that my kid is using and it still looks great so I have never needed to change them out. I still have 2 out of the 3 that I bought back when I got that phone so I am ready to go if/when it needs replacing.
Spigen nano clear is good. It came with my case. The edges only go to the edge of the screen so it's good if u have a bulky case. It's also really easy to clean and feels smooth like glass
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
anyone try the Spigen 4H protector?
the nano and clear are 2H, the glas is 8H, this one is 4H and seems to be more like a film but stronger than the other models.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/sa...axy-s3-screen-protector-steinheil-series.html
I'm looking for a good and cheap screen protector too. I prefer the dry application hard plastic ones (4H), I don't like the tempered glass neither the wet application skins.
I have the SGP Ultra Nano Clear and it's good sp but scratched easily. I had the Ultra Crystal, it was better but the fit wasn't right (too big, caused the edges to peel). I think they fixed its size already, not sure.
My ideal sp would be the curved and clear with 4H hardness and fingers print resist at a price of less than $15 (for 2 ps). I found one from korea - SkinPlayer 3D, but it's more expensive than $15 and can't be found outside korea. there's a topic about it -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856079
I think i'll go with the Ultra Crystal again. unless somebody will recommend a cheaper sp with the same or better quality.
sounds like you're describing the one I posted above in terms of look, hardness, price, etc. but now it's just a question of whether it'll peel on the sides or not...
any other suggestions?
I'm really ITCHING to get rid of this Spigen glas thing...I was ready to order the Nano Optics but the reviews are so mixed for those online I don't want to waste my time and money anymore.
why do local stores only carry Zagg?! ahhhh
Go with the just like glass protector by dba. I just put it on and it feels exactly like the glass.

i appreciate your enthusiasm, but there's a few things that concern me. Spigen makes the glas, and both of them have had horrible sensitivity. second, the curvel crystal makes it sound like it goes to the edges of the phone...and that was my problem with the Zagg Shield HD...the cases were lifting the edges badly.
is either of these things happening to you? do you have a picture of how it looks on the phone?

I have the spigen curved one also, no issues at all with sensitivity, not sure where you heard that? It feels really good, like no layer at all. I can't tell you whether it will lift up or not with a case, my case is 2 pieces so it never pushes against the edges..

Thin!! :good:
$5.99?? I got the 0.3mm cases at $1.50 each.
There's also a thread discussing it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2604742.
I have this case, it is very thin, its not TPU but still flexible. The finish is quite good, there weren't any sharp edges on the two black ones I got. The black one isn't see through. I wanted to get a clear one but they were out of stock, but from my previous experience with white/clear cases they discolour extremely easily.
It does get scratched, I have a few minor scratch marks on the back just from putting the phone in the car's cup holder, glove box etc. but you do need the right light to see them.
The case has raised edges around the screen such that the screen wont touch a table when placed flat on top of it. These edges also trap a lot of dust and make it hard to clean.
After a while dust gets under the case but so far it hasn't caused any damage to the phone.
Overall its a good case but you should think of it as a sacrificial item that'll degrade through use. Also, don't expect it to save your phone from a drop. It'll protect the phone from scratches at most.
Hope this helps you guys decide whether to buy or not.
Didn't like it
I bought the case you're talking about. I didn't like it very much. The fit is mediocre. The button cutouts are small, so it's hard to push the buttons. The main issue is that it just doesn't feel good to touch. The material is similar to the textured plastic you get on report covers. Most of this was mentioned in the thread someone linked to above. For me, the quicksand cases are way better and only slightly bulkier.
It looks nice
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I'm using this, it's soft plastic. Not even a hard case. So don't expect any protection on shock.
