Anyone found that the Youtube application 4.0.8 is not supported on Jellybean?! I had a notification this morning, but half asleep I ignored it, but went to the app store and got a warning that the native Youtube app is not supported anymore by the handset. Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah, same here in UK
Well i have 4.0.8 and mine works fine stock ota jellybean 4.1.1.
I can preload video's and watch hd. :-/ i'm also in the uk.

Jelly Bean includes the 4.0.8 version of Youtube which is why it doesn't appear on the market.
YT 4.0.8 works fine on Jelly Bean 4.1.1. HD, HQ works well.
I can't find it from market, why it's not in market if it works fine on Jelly bean!
first Flash Player and now YouTube...
if using older YT does it show that on Play store?
Does it matter though? You can still watch vids fine, no? If Google decides to update YouTube, they're gonna enable download with Jelly Bean, don't worry. Why wouldn't they do that? lol

It doesn't appear on the play store since the same version is included as a system app. Once Google makes another update to the Youtube app, they will enable the app in the play store for jelly bean users.
Works just fine on my phone. It also shows in the market when I search it, but it does say it's not supported. I'm not even sure how it was installed if it wasn't supported. I guess it came in the ROM I am using.
I find that after a boot... I can use youtube no problems but after a while it doesn't allow me to play any videos... regardless of whether I clear the data & cache... Only rebooting the phone allows me to watch videos again for a short while...
I don't see any notification about what OP says
I think it has to do with the fact that flash player is not compatible with 4.1.1

I ain't using flash... and I don't think the android YouTube app uses flash either and even if it did... still doesn't require flash as "flash" and "flash video" are separate formats that don't require each other but are compatible.
Nope. Youtube app doesn't use flash, and can use HTML 5 from browsers.
Yes even the Chrome browser can play YouTube videos. I'm glad I don't have this issue though.

I´m having the exact same issue. After using the phone a bit the youtube app doesn´t play videos anymore, after a time the app just stop responding. The only fix i found was also reboot the phone.
IN my case it works fine. I have 4.0.8.
Then only thing that irritates me is that when loading a video if the screen turns off, it starts loading again!!!! I HATE THAT! (sorry for the caps).
I also don't like the controls. Before, tapping anywhere on the screen paused the video. Now it doesn't.
Cheers!
No problems here.

Hey guys,
I think I'm experiencing the same bug too. I've got a Galaxy Nexus with rooted Stock ROM 4.1.1 and I'm using the youtube app version 4.0.23. I've opened a thread on the Youtube Mobile Support forum where you can read a detailed bug report. I would appreciate if you go on this site https://youtubemobilesupport.com/thread/1381 and let them know that I'm not the only one with this problem!
Let's hope they come up quickly with a fix!
After the latest update of the YouTube app, it fixed the bug for me, now I can play videos anytime. The app version I'm talking about it's the same you are reporting the bug 4.0.23.
I'll keep a eye If the bug come back and I'll report it in the page you mentioned.

Does anyone know whether we will be getting flash, I know they've pulled support, but are we in line?

Hi, sorry if this has been discussed before, but I got my Galaxy Nexus today and noticed I can not download Flash player or play flash players in browser? It comes up as incompatible in the market place! Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Yeah i've just picked mine up today and noticed this.
Flash player not visable in the market on the handset and when viewed on my laptop it says its incompatible with the device. I hope there is a work around for this.
Any chance you just have to enable plugins in the browser?

Yes, because Apple can't just turn off Flash on the web. It's still everywhere, it will be everywhere for a long time.
Maybe you were being sarcastic ..duno
But if flash isn't made for the device it won't work so it wouldn't allow for flash stuff on websites

Yup, the latest honeycomb version would install, but didn't do anything else.
Edit: Well, BBC news website no longer said 'you don't have flash player installed' and it showed the icon in the middle of where the vid should be, but wouldn't try and play it.
Its not optimized on ICS, I think I read online somewhere that its getting worked on

Does no one read threads before replying?
I've tried latest Honeycomb and Gingerbread flash players, neither worked.
Also, Google had said it's coming so we just need to wait a bit.

It was already announced that Adobe would be updating Flash to work on ICS. The estimated timeframe is sometime at the end of December, from what I remember reading, can't remember exactly where I read it.

Awesome!
I simply can't get this thing to work consistently..
It will only work if i open the Light flow app and go to notifications, then I can press home button and go back to my home screen but as long as the light flow app is still in the 'multi task' it will work, once I'll swipe it from there it stops working.
Also - when I check for 'Light flow' in the 'running services' under 'apps', it is still there, even after I've swiped it from the multi task , saying '1 process and 1 service', but it will not work unless I open the app itself and go into notifications...
Info -
It only started after the JB update..
I am not running any task managers etc..
I am rooted, stock 4.1.1 JB
I tested it with Gmail, charging etc..
This really sucks.. Am I the only one??....
Since the update that was meant to fix Jelly Bean issues, I've had no issues. Its working well for me.

At the moment for some reason in jelly bean swiping away the app causes the app to stop working. It'll show in the services as android restarts it on the crash, but it's lost its state until you re-enter the app to initialise it.
I'm looking into a fix for that.

Found this on the Android General discussion forum, and thought I'd bring it to attention here, since we proud Gnex owners are basically THE people rocking some jelly bean version phones, and I've seen many complaints about Adobe flash no longer working.

Honestly? I personally don't really care about the whole flash buisness... but I don't use it much. Only time I did was when trying to watch streaming video on specific sites, and I've found other, easier alternatives. But there are some people who surf flash based sites on a regular basis, it's understandable they'd be annoyed, I have one friend who didn't want to make the switch to 4.1 because the whole flash issue...
If anyone else was worried about loosing flash support, no reason to now. Make the switch! JB is just worth it...
And people, remember, this is just a temporary way to hold off the inevitable pending death of flash and the rise of HTML5. Support s gone, Adobe announced they'd pull Flash from the app store all together on the 15th of August, and let's be honest, flash has always been a slow, clumsy way to surf the web on mobile (nevertheless, it was nice to have the possibility of running it).
For me, Flash Player carried over from ICS when I flashed the yakju JB OTA, so I had it all along. As I understand it though, all you really ever needed was to sideload the latest Flash (11.1.115.1.12) APK which we've had up in the Dev forums here for awhile now.. Not sure what those extra steps and files are for in the thread you linked.

Try it. Seriously, go into your browser and open up a flash site, let me know if it works... it carried over for me with the OTA, though flash hasn't worked for me since. Also side loading it doesn't help. Sure it gets installed, but that's all it is now. An installed icon in the app drawer. Clicking it and opening a browser for the settings gives me a blank page. Would be interesting to know if it actually works. I thought it did in the beginning, and proudly showed my friend he shouldn't be worried, flash still works. Then I realized I hadn't been on a flash site, and flash DOESN'T work. Oops

I do remember seeming to think that flash WAS working for me right after the OTA, but since then I have flashed so many different roms and I had uninstalled flash somewhere along the process. Just tried sideloading it now and this is what showed up in the stock browser.
Anyone here have Flash working without carrying over thru the OTA? Just sideloading it?

It works well for me on JB (Eclipse ROM) and I side-loaded V11.1. I think someone already mentioned there is a 'flash-fetcher' on the market here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modaco.flashdownloader
If you want to be sure you're up to date I think that gets it from Adobe, but I'm not sure, and haven't used that app. I'm able to use flash in the stock JB browser and also in Dolphin, and like everyone, not in Chrome. I'll give you site a try because I don't really use it much but I know it works.
Good luck.

Anyone else facing any big ones? For me, Splashtop Streamer doesn't work at all. TeamViewer works once after an app data clear and then stops. DicePlayer says it isn't compatible in the market but even if I sideload it, it crashes on start.
Could this be due to the new OpenGL?

Now if there was a way to detach a playing video from the app, the way Facebook chat conversations get detached, that would be amazing!
Great update, thanks guys!

The update looks great so far but it would be nice if there was an option to get landscape full-screen even when you had rotation lock. Now I have to enable auto rotation on system wide if I want it to be enabled.

Have anyone notice like less video quality in the new youtube app like more jaggy
Still doesn't allow background playback, which is quite sad. Great multi-tasking feature though, like it!
Lag out the butt when you bring up the nav bar. Happens on both my N7 and N4. Both are stock.

I noticed it is definitely a downgrade in video quality.
I haven't noticed a decrease in quality myself but am always running it on a modded rom...

I also notice that the quality is subpar.

Just did a side by side last night with my friends tablet and there is a huge decrease in quality. Reverted back to the old version. It also crashed my note 2 twice...just froze the device.
