ParanoidAndroid 1.6a Bootloop - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
since i cant post into the appropriate thread due to my 1post on the forum, im posting this in here
anyone having a bootloop issue after installing the ParanoidAndroid 1.6a JellyBean
i tried to install it following their instruction first
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset IF you come from another rom than JB 4.1 STOCK OTA/IO-Preview
CWM: Install Zip File: (ROM)
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
bootloop...
then i tried
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset IF you come from another rom than JB 4.1 STOCK OTA/IO-Preview
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
CWM: Install Zip File: (ROM)
Bootlooop....
let me know if anyone having the same issue..
cheers

try factory resetting (x3 to be sure), wipe cache (3x), wipe dalvik (3x) then flashing.
if that doesnt work, try formatting /system in mounts and storage.
i know that fixed some of the bootloops i've had in the past.

This is an alpha so it just might not work for some strange reason you shouldn't have to reformat 3 times its pointless. I would just restore from your backup and hold for a more stable version of the rom
Edit I forgot you have to wipe the system (was in their previous step) for the ROM to work or you will bootloop.

I just flashed this ROM and the first boot did take a very long time
How long did you wait before you called it quits and reflashed?

good news
Hey good news, after 2 failed, i finally get it
as suggest i wipe 3-4 times - then re-flash rom, and put the damn phone in my pocket! 5 min later i took the phone and it was working - just some little tweak for mobile data and i was up and running
thanks you all and i recommend the rom to everyone even if its alpha!

The problem is the bootanimation. Just disable it and it boots in 30 secs
Edit : weird i know

It's not over yet.
Just installed Paranoid on my Galaxy SII Skyrocket using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750588&highlight=boot+screen
The phone has been on the boot screen animation for over 10+ minutes. Is it supposed to take this long?
I followed the advice posted on this page, wiping 3X on everything (cache partition, data wipe, Dalvik cache). Still nada.
Can't figure this out.

Stuck at CM9 Splash Screen

I unlocked my bootloader using this method:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html
After that was complete, I flashed Smellkus' Custom Recover here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543
Once those two steps were completed, I wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache then I flashed the unofficial CM9 rom posted here by jmztaylor:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625096
Now, I am currently sitting at the CM9 splash screen for, going-on, 15 minutes.
NOTE* I have removed battery and wiped cache and DC again, but still stuck at screen. Any help?
Thanks guys

I think you should have wiped everything except sd card...not just cache and dalvik
Try it again and wipe more.
Go back to recovery, go to wipe menu, wipe everything on the list except for SD-Card atleast 2x, reflash the rom, wipe cache and dalvik cache again, then reboot and you should be on your homescreen in less than 5 mins, if it continues to boot loop pull the battery and just reboot it and see if it will boot on the 2nd try if not try flashing a different rom, or restore the backup you made*hopefully you followed the directions and made one*

I also find that doing a factory reset as well as re-downloading the Rom again to be helpful. Sometimes it may be a bad download of the Rom.

When u wipe everything but SD.card it factory reset/data wipes as one of the options, I always wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system, wipe boot, wipe sd-ext atleast 2x before switching roms and when going from different versions or from aosp to sense or vice versa I wipe 3-5x and then wipe cache and dalvik between add on flashes and after I'm done flashing before I reboot and I've never had a bad flash or bootloop

Agreed, with Smurf, also, don't have your phone plugged into your usb port. For some reason, on many ICS ROMs, you'll just be stuck at the white screen

Messaging and Phone apps keep crashing

Hey all,
I've been searching for a while now and decided I should just post my question finally. I have the Galaxy SIII, rooted, and running CM10 stable. For the last 3 months or so, my SMS app, Messaging, has been randomly force closing and crashing. The only way to fix it is by rebooting the phone. I've tried re-flashing the mod 5 times, and even wiped data and done 2 factory resets. Still no luck.
And more recently my "phone" app has been doing it too. It crashes when I open up the dial pad and drops calls randomly and I have to restart my phone for it to work again.
Both of these will happen randomly. Sometimes I can go 4 hours without having to restart my phone, other times I have to restart my phone every 20 minutes. It's really starting to bug me.
Is there an app that's known to cause these crashes? Or is there a possibility that the mod file is corrupt? Thoughts? Questions? Any help is appreciated!!
When you flashed Cm10, did you come from stock or a custom rom? Did you also format /system?
If you made a nandroid while on stock, I would:
Wipe data, cache, dalvik and restore that. Then (assuming you still have Cm10 and gapps zips on your device) I would wipe data and caches again, format /system and flash rom/gapps. Wipe data/cache and reboot.

When I flashed, it was from a previous CM10 ROM that worked fine. I reflashed because one of my apps was getting an "unknown" error, and now this crashing is happening. I don't think I have ever done "format /system". How do I go about that?

To have a completely clean install, you should always:
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik (under advanced)
Format /system (under mounts and storage)
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Wipe data
Reboot
Be sure to have whatever you feel important backed up as this will wipe your system. Make a nandroid first if you don't already have one

There shouldn't be any issues if you have flashed correctly. Many users have also noted that a custom rom performs better when returning to stock and then flashing the new rom via the above procedures. Feel free to pm me your results
What the???

I can't see this is a good thing, but I'm a noob.
You're saying after installing the new ROM and apps (Flash rom Flash gapps), you then go back into CWM and select 'wipe data/factory reset'??
Again, I'm a noob and maybe I'm reading this wrong!
Doing a wipe again right after installing a new ROM sounds so wrong to me.
What would that do?

This step (step 7 in your list) isn't necessary.
When in doubt, follow the directions in the OP of the rom you are trying to flash, usually can't go wrong.

Switching from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 and vise versa (PROS ONLY PLEASE)

I'm currently on Jellybeast 4.1.2 and want to try out AOKP 4.2.2
Is it easy to switch from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 and vise versa? Will my downloads and all sd files get wiped?
Switching to 4.2.2
Wipe system
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Optional* wipe dalvik and cache again (don't really need to)
Reboot
Wait 10 mins after welcome screen comes up...don't touch anything (let the ROM settle)
Reboot and setup phone
Switching to stock 4.1.2
Flash infamous super wipe
Flash infamous cache wipe
Flash ROM
Reboot
Wait 10 mins after welcome screen comes up...don't touch anything (let the ROM settle)
Reboot and setup phone
You decide whether its easy or not and No your SD card doesn't get wiped

I've been flashing for years now.. I gotta say those are some overly cautious steps..
If its an aosp based ROM... Even from 4.1 to 4.2, just wipe the cache and dalvik cache and the system partitions in recovery. That will ensure you won't force close. Wiping all of your data isn't needed. Just make sure to run a fix permissions after your flash and you'll be golden.

Get TWRP Recovery
Wipe System, data, cache, dalvik, factory reset (wont delete anything from Internal sd) and/or... format data (deletes internal and everything but not extSD but I recommend doing this format)
Then fresh install a ROM
This should hopefully fix all problems in the phone..

What recovery mode your using , Use TWRP, while installing rom , make sure you Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, and factory reset, and then install the Rom should be able to install it without any issues , Usually you get this error if your not following the OP instructions as mentioned please read the OP in how to install the rom.

Failed FLASHING S4

Hi guys, don't know if this is going on the right forum or whatever but I have a problem!
So last week I rooted and flashed my phone to 4.4.2 Google Play Edition (I'm a noob to all of this) may I add that I have a GT-i9505 model with an unlocked bootloader etc (as I have an international s4)
Phone was working fine except for a few bugs such as camera application would stop working.
So I decided to have to have a look around at another ROM to change and flash it and I found the 4.4.2 Liquidsmooth ROM (which looks pretty good and seems to be everything I need) so I started to reflash it all again (as I did before) however I have 35% battery and my flash failed with the error
'file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.pro" error executing updater binary in zip.
So what is it I'm doing wrong? Is it coz I'm flashing on top of another ROM? I have no idea, can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not using an ext SD card for this either!
If you can a noob version would be awesome! Thank you so much for reading this!

Ok you must wipe your old rom first but MAKE A BACK UP, firstly go into recovery (cwm or twrp) and go to "back up" and make a back up. second go to wipe and wipe cache then wipe dalvic cache (if your using cmw you will have to go to advanced on the home screen to wipe dalvic cache)
third go back to wipe and wipe system, after that wipe the cache and dalvic cache just like before
And for the final stage go to install, find the rom you want (will be a zip file) and then flash it, when done wipe cache and dalvic cache one more time then reboot
And bam you should have you new custom rom (you dont have to keep wiping the cache and dalvic cache but its recomended)

the most important thing is read, read and read the instruction before applying any flash.
I always do that and never fail
