Monthly 4g cracked screen - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Im getting a s2 tomorrow with a cracked screen. Im ordering a screen off ebay and repairing it myself. I ordered a sim card from t mobile today and they said i can get a insurance protection plan on the phone even though i got it off craigslist. I wanted to know if anyone heard of this? They said its 7.99 a month. Im asking because 3 months from now if it crackes again because i keep hearing stories about it how much to replace it under that plan?

Read the fine print. There is likely a deductible. I've seen deductibles as high as $150
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app

Deductible for a s2 is 130, and yes its possible to put insurance on a phone purchased outside of T-Mobile at time of activation but as of right now it's only for contracted rate plans. I have heard prepaid will soon have the availability for ins. but nothing currently and no telling when

logged into my 30 dollars a month account and I noticed it it was the option on the bottom..

Someone correct me on this one but from what I understand, you can flash a locked Sprint phone to Boost or Metro.

Your ESN will be flagged until you pay it off. There are ways to get the device on Boost or MetroPCS but they cannot be discussed on XDA.

Flashing a phone to another carrier is NOT against forum regulations.
However, doing so for the purpose of defrauding a privider, IS.
And I think you are planning to defraud. .

I'm assuming you didn't pay full price for your phone, and are in 2 yr. contract.
That means it's Sprints phone, and I'm sure they want it back.

$200 is the carrier subsidized amount you pay. Sprint pays $300 for the phone upfront and make it back from you via you PAYING your bills. (they don't profit till the 2nd year of contract).
There is a reason OFF CONTRACT phones cost $500+.

im assuming your account wont be cancelled right away.. it will first be suspended for non payment then after so much time will be cancelled for non payment at which you would have so much time to pay it before it goes to collections.. once the account is cancelled the esn is good.. sprint still makes there money which is why they have etf's.. if you dont pay it they sell it to the collectors who harass you until its paid..

Yeah...I don't know what makes him think that if he's exactly 1 day late, they will cancel the phone. Sorry dude, doesn't work that way. I don't think they suspend service till you are 30 days late. Even then the account isn't "cancelled". Eventually it will be. The etf will be tacked on to the bill you already owe. After an amount of time, it'll then go to collections, in which case, the amount owed will "grow". At the end of the day, collections, late fees, etf fees. It will be big bucks and screwed credit.

If I upgrade at Best Buy, do I lose grandfathered unlimited data?

I'm on a Family line, and I'm not the primary number. We all have grandfathered unlimited data, and the last couple times I upgraded my phone at the ATT store it was all fine and dandy. But I noticed Best Buy, today only, has a $100 deal for the SGSIII which I want, but I'm wondering if I upgrade through BB (online or in store, whatever), will I be unable to maintain the unlimited data I've had? Is it possible to do it in a way that I DO keep it?
I upgraded at Best Buy 2 weeks ago and I kept unlimited data and now I went over 8 gbs data and I wasn't throttled...(I had to test it)...

Anyway to hide usage?
I don't think there's any way to hide usage. It's your carrier. The data goes through them one way or another.
Not that I'm aware of, I rarely go over 3gbs...but I was told that when you switch to an LTE phone they raise it from being throttled at 3gbs to 5 gbs...but I had to test it and I was over 8gbs when last I checked.
Still not throttled.

I was gonna order it online, but maybe it would be easier to do it in store then to make sure I can confirm it with the associate before-hand as well. If I'm not the primary number, I can't upgrade in store by myself though can I?
I just went to my neighborhood best buy and a person assisted me, I doubt you can do it yourself in-store.

Geek squad is good as long as you can bring the phone in. Daughter dropped her Atrix 2 in the toilet the day after she got it. Best buy replaced it, no questions asked. Only thing it doesn't cover is lost.
Don't need for insurance if you get something like an Otterbox Defender, and install security software.

[Q) buying through best buy?

Saw this phone on best buy for 150 and I'm eligible for a 2 year agreement just wanted to know if any of you guys have bought through best buy before?
If so Does your plan changed in any way whether it would be data?
Reason why I ask is because T-Mobile is always making it impossible for their customers. I see it as a smart investment worse comes to worse down the line I can always opt out and pay that 200 penalty to get out, I would still have my s3.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
I hate Best Buy but couldn't resist their low prices so last year I bought 3 phones online. It work out good for me. Not only I end up paying for the phone much less than any other place, but also somehow I didn't have to buy a data plan with those purchases. I have a family plan and that did not change also.
Last week I tried to add fifth line to my plan and I had to add minimum $20 data to new phone so I'm not sure how it is now...

Long time - since there were Voicestream - probably 10 years.
I bought this phone from bestbuy in october since I was eligible for an upgrade and bestbuy had it for way cheaper than tmobile ever did. Only part of my plan that was suppose to change was my data plan but it never did actually change. I still have the same plan I had before purchasing the phone. No complaints
Thanks guys. Yeah its way cheaper than what Tmobile has it right now about 340 with the upgrade. You guys did it through the phone or in person. One rep I was speaking with told me that I can't get the phone in store because T-Mobile doesn't allow it? Is this true or just BS. I was going to get the blaze through T-Mobile but it was going to come out around 184 basically around same price I'm getting the s3 for through best buy.. Not a big Fan of the 4'7 screen but oh well.

I actually did mine online and I had no problems. Bestbuy also gives you the option to add a warranty I think but I'm not to sure since I didn't get one
the issue to consider is that BB will sell you the 2 year plan, which continues the "subsidy" (we all know it's baked into the monthly price, RIGHT?) even after you pay of the phone. Consider a tmobile store - and a value plan, where there is more of an up front cost (possibly), but the value plan is a purchase of the phone as a transparent process, and when it's paid for (20 months?) you keep the phone, and the monthly price drops.
If you can do a "small buisiness" plan - go for that! $40 per month to 1000min and unlimited (5GB at 4G speed). $50 for unlimited/unlimited. Add $20 for phone, and stll cheapest way to go...
Merry Christmas

S3 ex gf

Hello. My ex girlfriend cut my phone off when I broke up with her. I went to tmobile corporate office Store and switched the phone to a prepaid. 2 months later she is calling me saying I have to pay her 400 to cancel her plan or she is reporting the phone stolen when I paid for the phone. Can she do this? Since I had it switched from her plan on mine which is prepaid.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Wait...the line is under her name? You're screwed lol, her account, her phone. She can have the imei blacklisted and you have yourself a nice android version of a iPod touch.
If she does report it, you can keep the it or sell it for parts, don't expect to get too much for it though.
|When Emotion Goes Up, Logic Goes Down|
|Even If You Fall Face First You're Still Moving Forward|
How did you pay for the phone ? Did you pay through T-Mobile or to her or what ?
If you paid through her she can do this and you'd have to take her to small claims court or something and hope you have enough proof to win the case. This is pretty much the same way that people on CL scam people into buying a phone and then stopping paying for it / reporting it stolen - and there's plenty of evidence of people getting burned that way.
Otherwise, this is why it's a bad idea to have things in a significant other's name when you're just dating. At least with marriage there's automatic legal recourse if you divorce (even if it's still an expensive and drawn-out process). This is just way too much ridiculous drama, I'd suggest that you talk to a T-Mobile rep but they're going to have to sift through all this he-said she-said crap and I can't blame them if they can't figure it out or just don't care, sorry dude.
if you have the receipt and it was paid for by your bank card, then that changes the game to in your favor not hers. (this happened to my step dad)
That 400 is probably the early cancellation fee PLUS the contract price of the phone.
You're best bet is to convince her to spin the phone off from her contract to your own contract. T-Mobile won't care as long as the contract isnt broken. In this case it's not, she has her contract and you have yours.
Good Luck
Damn what a hateful chick lol
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Exactly. I paid 235 with my bank card at the store to get the phone. And I paid 100 for her cell phone bill. Her bill was 95 a month when I got the phone with my employee discount added it dropped the bill to 145 a month. I was paying 80 a month for my half of the bill.

New TMo Zero Down Promo

Not bad...Starts tomorrow for a limited time
http://www.dailytech.com/TMobiles+Z...Smartphones+Starting+July+27/article33052.htm
I love you t-mobile
YOU KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2NYT8uV_VQ
No zero down mean you don't need to pay for it now. So instead of making you have down payment right now they put that payment toward the monthly payment plan.
Say you want S4, instead of 150 down and 20x24 totaling 630, you pay 0 down and 25x24 total of 600. $30 saving. Not bad. .
But phone like HTC one, you'll be paying 0 down and 25x24 total 600 instead of 80 down (Web)and 20x24 total of 560 normally. Cost you $40 more.
Over all tmobile is being aggressive lately. .

That's annoying as hell.
I just talked to a Loyalty rep this afternoon to change plans and waive fees, who told me about this promotion. I asked him three separate times if the lack of down payment came back on the back end, by either increasing monthly payments or adding months, and every time he told me, No, it's $20 for 24 months.
I'm getting my Note II tomorrow, and I guess I'll see what happens with my next bill.

I switched from sprint a wk ago and went in this morning and was refunded $150 for one s4 and $150 bill credit for another. Also u have to b in the "A or B" credit bracket in order to qualify for the zero down. And for each line u open there is still a $50 charge for taxes. So 4 lines is $200 plus $10 per sim kit (new costomers).
I think thats about right.

Yes you do pay extra on the back end for it being no money down, but a lot of people do not want to pay a dime upfront so for them, this is good.
