So you can't do this if you have CWM or any other custom ROM? Only if you are on an existing official ROM?

I dunno if this was addressed somewhere else but is this FF18 different than leaked? Like has it been updated with any fixes to leaked FF18 problems?
Help please

checked, no space at all.. what the heck?!? I'm on a Mac, does this make a difference? doubt it..just changing a file name...grrr
i tried to run it anyway and got the triangle, but rebooted luckily. will take it off sd card and rename and put it back on again and see what happens...what is everyone talking about putting the file in your "root internal memory" ?? some posts say external sd, some say internal...aye aye aye
would love to wait for the one-click but no access to a PC, only mac here
Just curious, for my own knowledge, why does the update.zip file have to be on external SD to work if the OTA can still download/install with no external SD card present? Thanks!

Ive tried to connect it to my pc in download mode to use odin and it tells me the device is malfunctioning and the device drivers didnt properly install. So now I feel stuck because i cant find any other ways around this issue...can some PLEASE HELP?? Also in CLockwork mode it says at the bottom "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log"
Thanks in advanced and I apologize if this thread has been made already.
This doesn't belong in development.
You can't flash an EXT4 ROM on rfs clockwormod. Either flash an old nand backup then reroot with the newest one click root or use a prerooted tar in odin.
Texted while driving
Root with Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.5 or greater sir. You need to be on EXT4 for SRF if i'm not mistaken. ClockworkMod 2.5.1.0 is RFS still i believe. Also, inb4 this belongs in Q & A section.

Thank you, im going to attempt to flash an older rom. would you suggest one? im looking at DK28 hopefully it will work with my clockmod so ill be able to flash it and then reroot it and install the new clockmod.
Can't people read directions. Best thing to do is odin back to stock then root with the one click for eb13 then boot into recovery. Once its done converting to ext4 you have to flash a compatiabke ext4 kernel or it wont boot

I was in the EXACT same situation as you yesterday.
Just use Odin, it is super easy and fast.
Follow these directions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700#Odin_Stock_Flashing
Except in step 5 where it wants you to get the "Stock DI18" rom, you instead want the newest EC05 rom (found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PXBJ2JNH )
Once your all up and running with that restored rom, run this CWM3 one click: http://k0nane.info/rom/cwm3.zip
Then, finally, now that you are running CWM3 you can flash Syndicate 1.1.0

Lets not get snippy. everyone is tying to help. sounds like you might want to reinstall the samsung drivers. before you do, you might want to try to purging power from your phone. With battery out hold down your power button for 15 seconds a few times. then reinsert battery try to go into download mode for Odin.
If that doesn't work, reinstall samsung drivers and start over FOLLOWING directions in one of the many threads on stock recovery.

I have gotten an OTA notification that HTC has a System Software Upgrade (4.22.651.2). My EVO is rooted with Unrevoke3.
Must I unroot my EVO to do this upgrade?

Jeez, Bro, this is all over the forums. I mean, in every Evo section there is are multiple posts on the upgrade, which people have been getting, btw, since Friday morning.
I mean, I'm TRYING to be nice, for a change, but seriously.....
Try to actually READ through the goddamn thread titles before you post something so ridiculous.
sry for the Upset man, but I thought just maybe I could get a quick and easy answer without reading through pages and pages. Just wanted to know what this update actually is since its from HTC and not Sprint. Guess it was too much to ask.
Regards.....
Yes, you're good to update. Just accept, and let it do its thing. Should have gb. Have fun!

Go ahead and accept the OTA, do not unroot. That should update your radios too, and your HBoot.
You will need to flash AmonRa or ClockworkMod as a PC36IMG, go to those threads in development.
Then I would suggest you download a rooted version of the OTA or go to Synergy or MikG, they are Gingersense with Sense 2.1!

Thx fella's but it sounds too complicated for me. Ima not that techy. If unrevoked3 was more complicated than 1 file, I wouldn't be rooted atm. Flashing and all that is over my head atm.

You got basiclly two options, With Clockwork as ur recovery (Part of unrevoked) The OTA won't just install. you can procced with one of the following methods.
I did this for the last 2 updates for the evo Not counting this one as I moved on to Sense 2.1 (much better then what HTC is providing for evo)
Before you start make sure u Nandroid Your current setup so u can always fall back to that if there are problems. (reboot into recovery and select make nandroid)
Option 1.
1. Buy Root Explorer from market
2. Navigate to /Cache (I think)
3. Copy the Supersonic_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH.zip to ur sd card
4. Reboot into recovery (Power + sound down)
5. Choose flash zip from SD and choose the official update u copied to ur sd card in step 3
6. Be Patient
7. If Clockwork errors, reboot phone and use rom manager to install RA Recovery and repeat step 5 and 6
8. Once the flash is complete reboot phone
9. Be Patient
10 be patient
11. Ur phone will eventually finish the upgrade process volia!
12. You would be unrooted, and non of ur rooted stuff would work, you would need to reinstall a custom recovery and then flash the superuser app again.
Option 2:
1. Head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
2. Download the ODEX version of the Update
3. Reboot into recovery
4a. To be safe I would wipe cache 2X and Dalvik cache 2X (Recomend RA Recovery), or
4b. you could flash the 4.22.651.2 Wipe from the link above I am guessing that is what that does since it says no data wipe.
5. Flash the Update zip
6. Be patient
7. Be patient
To update radios after Update has been applied: Download PC36.img from link above, and save to root of sd card, Shutdown phone Power on Holding down volume buton and wait until it tells u update found then choose to apply it.
@ detcup4evr ,
Thanks for the awesome instructions. Much appreciated my friend.....

If I were you, I'd go with one of the GB Hybrid ROMs. Try the one in my signature. It's a good one to start with and read my Evo Guide (Also in my signature).
If you want everything to work (front camera, netflix, Wimax, hdmi out) then you can only use gingerbread. If you don't use most of those the list of roms is limitless. They are all pretty good.

Go from stock everything completely non-rooted, to rooted cm11 kitkat 4.4.2 in 10 Minutes or less!*
*Does not include download times.
You must be updated to the latest GB27 official samsung firmware.
This guide assumes that you're using Sprint, the root method will work with any carrier, but the ROM may not support all carriers, see the ROM's page for more info.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES!
Everything here is done at the user's own risk.
Prerequisites:
-Stock GB27 firmware
-Download the latest Framaroot
-Download the latest Agat Recovery
-Download the latest Mobile Odin Lite, or buy the full version from the Play Store.
-Download the latest Blasphemy Kernel (Yes, download both Agat and Blasphemy.)
-Download the latest E4GT CM11 ROM, and the GAPPs also on that page.
-Download the FL24 Modem zip
Instructions:

I recommend that you have a file explorer, such as ES File Explorer (Free on the Play store!).
First, navigate to your downloads folder, which should look like this:
Next, install the Framaroot APK. If it says that the install has been blocked, go to settings and allow unknown sources.
Now, open Framaroot and click Aragorn.
You should now see this page, if not try all the other options.
Reboot, then go back to your downloads folder, and install mobile odin, open it, allow superSU, and click cancel when you get here.
Then click OK, all we need is kernel flashing. Select this file for firmware flashing:
Then, click flash firmware, click continue, your device will reboot.
Once your device reboots, fully shut it down, then hold VOLUME UP+POWER untill you see the Samsung logo.
You should come to a screen with an eagle logo, use the volume keys to navigate, and power to select.
Select backup and restore.
If you have a external SD card, select backup to SD card/ext SD card, if you don't, select backup to internal sdcard.
When that is done, go back to the main screen and select flash zip from SD card.
If the download folder is on your external SD card, select the first one, if it's on your internal SD card, go down and select internal.
Select your downloads folder, then select the blasphemy kernel zip
Scroll down to yes- install.
After that's done, go back to the main menu, go to advanced, then select reboot recovery.
You should now come up to a blue themed screen with a hat in the background. Controls are the same.
Now select wipe data/factory reset. (Don't worry, you backed it all up.)
Once that is done, go back, select mounts and storage.
Select Format (NOT unmount) /system
Then, go back and select flash zip from sdcard and flash the villuminati ROM zip.
Next, flash the FL27 modem zip
Then flash the GAPPs zip
Go back, and select Reboot system now.
You should see the Cyanogenmod boot screen.
Please note that the first boot will take several minutes, please be patient.
Go through the simple setup process and have fun!

No I was saying to mention in the OP that you have to be on JB. If a person was trying to do this from ICS they could really screw stuff up. But I apparently missed where it said GB27 under prerequisites so you are good. Glad somebody finally did this.

FYI - I went to the GAPPS page that is linked from the VILLUMINATI page which brought me to another page where it gave me 4 options for GAPPS to use. I selected the first ie. Google Stock Package, and the GAPPS failed to install and gave me an error that /system ran out of space or something along those lines.
Going to try the Full Modular Package and see if I get any further with that.

Alright, I did both the Full Modular and the Google Stock Gapps and both times I get Insufficient storage space available in System partition. You may want to use a smaller GAPPs then some more text followed by Status 7 - Installation aborted.
---------- Post added at 01:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 AM ----------
Same error trying to install GAPPS Mini. Going to try the GAPPs micro edition.

The micro GAPPs worked.

I'm not sure why that happens, especially when I have so much space left. It only happened to me once, though.
Sorry for the delayed response.
Barebones CM11 (without gapps installed) takes up 312mb. System partiion is only 503mb. Which leaves only about 191mb left in the system partition The full and stock PA Gapps are huge (211-267mb) so there's no room left. I question why the mini PA Gapps won't flash as its only about 123mb
Yellow Triangle after flashing CM11 with blashamy
Hi there! Thank you for the great post! I had a stock one click ICS stock rom root and did a manual ODIN update since the mobile ODIN didn't recognize the phone. After flashing over the new recovery everything went through smoothly. The only issue I have now is that I get the yellow triangle when booting, but the phone does boot. It seems like in the other posts about the yellow triangle that the phone would hang there.
I followed the information in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22463153 about the yellow triangle. Downloaded it and reset the counter, but it didn't take the yellow triangle away, I didn't check to see if it actually reset it though as I am afraid to reboot the phone if the counter is going to keep track each time making it unusable. What steps or guides would you suggest to help resolve? Do I need to worry about rebooting the phone or is it OK?
Thanks!

Its fine to reboot your phone. The counter only tracks how many times you have used ODIN to flash a kernel, modem, ROM (although some do not trigger the yellow triangle.)

The yellow triangle is just notification that you're running a non-samsung firmware. Flashing back to stock will remove it.
Next time, please update to GB27/GB08, because following these instructions from GB27/08 will not trigger the yellow triangle, and will allow you to use Mobile Odin.
Instructions for GB27/08 Here. (It's too big an update to do OTA, it must be done through a PC.)
Thanks!
Wow, thank you the quick replies! If it is just a notification, I think I'll just ignore it. Just wanted to make sure it didn't have a timer to kill function. The ROM and kernel are running great. I am getting about 10hrs of medium to high usage. Thanks for the guide again.

Unfortunately, 4G does not work, but you can make Calls, Texts, and use 3G as well as use the FREE WiFi Hotspot! Though the Devs might fix this issue in the future, so check the ROM page for more info.
Edit
FL24 Modem or FL27?
In your download links, you say "Download the FL24 Modem zip", but in the rest of the instructions you reference FI27. I got a little bit freaked out when I noticed that in the middle of the modem install, but it appears that the FL24 Modem zip works. I wasn't sure if I needed to go back and flash FI27 even though things seem to be working with FL24.
Other than that minor confusion for me, your instructions worked perfectly. Thanks!
FL24

You might be looking at FI27, not FL27 - I haven't seen such a thing as FL27, so I think FL24 is the latest modem
No 3G Data?
I followed everything step by step but one very important thing is not working... I don't have anyway web access except when connected to wifi. Is there a fix for that at all?
i'm sure people post stuff about this all the time, but as of right now i'm stuck in TWRP with no OS, and none of the ROMs i'm trying to use are working at all. i've tried cyanogen, and a couple other random ones i found here, and absolutely nothing is working. could anyone maybe PM me or something and help me through this i have no idea where i went wrong.

I have to ask a preliminary question. What is your boot loader (is it the lastest (4.3))? If your bootloader IS not the latest then there are many ways to "start fresh" by flashing the Stock Rom in ODIN. Ill wait for your reply and guide you further.

Quite honestly I dont know how to check from the recovery but which version of stock were you on? 4.3? 4.1.2?
---------- Post added at 07:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:16 PM ----------
I also feel that you can wipe you data, internal data, system, cache and dalvik (which will delete everything) and then push the correct roms and gaaps thorough ABD so you wouldnt need to go back to stock

Alright... If we knew what version your on (for sure) then it would have been quite easy. What model phone do you have? i747 or i747m?

okay... I have an easy solution for you on how to get your phone back to working condition but thats only if you have the older boot loader. If you flash the stock rom and you have the updated boot loader (that comes with 4.3) your phone will hard brick. If your willing to take the risk I can guide you further.

There is a difference that could be seen when you are in download mode due to Knox on the 4.3 update. Upload a picture of your download mode and we can advise you from there.

Okay, from everything you've said here is the best solution that has the least percent of messing up.
Follow everything carefully and you should be good as new!
Boot into TWRP
Wipe DATA/FACTORY RESET
Wipe CACHE
Wipe DALVIK
Format SYSTEM
MOUNT your internal storage to the computer
***TAKE BACKUP OF PICTURES, ETC. from internal storage***
DELETE everything in the internal storage once you take backup, if needed
*** Based on your phone model and everything else I did most of the work and found the correct links, if you dont trust them search CM and 4.3 Gaaps and download them ***
COPY Stable rom to internal storage - here is cyanogenmod 10.2.1 stable for ATT i747: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/57775/cm-10.2.1-d2att.zip
COPY Gaaps zip to internal storage - here is PA gaaps 4.3: http://www.mediafire.com/download/n2a7nta3jrj1ltk/pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.3-20131024-signed.zip
UNMOUNT internal storage
Flash CM
Flash Gaaps
Clear CACHE
Clear DALVIK
Reboot! You should be good to go

I said internal storage cause then you can also clear it and delete any junk files left behind. Once again I am not too familiar with TWRP and if you are able to flash zips straight from external storage, thats also fine.
ALSO look at other person posting a few replies ahead of mine, He has a way to check if you have 4.3 or not. If you didn't have 4.3 then you can flash back to stock easily and start from there instead of flashing a CUSTOM rom.
