Maybe you haven't noticed, but the stock camera.apk that comes with the Epic Touch is broken. You are given the option to create shortcuts within the camera app itself. These shortcut appear on the left side of the screen and give you access to features like, effects or resolution ect.
On the stock camera.apk, you can set up the shortcuts without any problems, however, these shortcuts son't survive a reboot of the phone. In fact, these preferences don't even survive switching back and forth between the camera and video camera.
This drives me crazy because I use my camera all the time for my blog and I hate having to set it up every time I launch the camera. So I decided to try and pull the camera.apk from the international Galaxy S 2. Low and behold it worked, perfectly.
Now, my preferences will even survive a reboot. This doesn't address the 1080p recording issue of cropping but I happy that I don't have to set up my camera settings, every time I use the camera.
This camera.apk is silenced, meaning that there is no "focus" beep.
I did theme the icon to match my ROM but that's it.
Just flash with CW and this will replace the current camera.apk. Be sure to back up your current version in case you desire to go back.
Enjoy...

If you set up shortcut and then reboot your phone, what happens? The shortcuts are removed and you have place them again. They are supposed to stick.
This camera. apk addresses that isses

I don't believe so. This is basically a stock camera app from the international Galaxy S2.

hi i was wondering if you could get this to work on ics like ff18 or something because yours is the only one that has the save as flipped image option on it which i really need but it doesn't work on ics .
My camera is working fine, switched between video and camera. then rebooted. The edits I made stayed just fine.
My wife just tried saving a picture from a text I sent her 1option was save to my gallery now she is on bamf paradigm and went into gallery pic is not there so what is this my gallery never seen this before

Does anyone understand why while taking a picture in a low light settings you cannot see what you are trying to take the picture of? Is there a way to improve the lighting to see what you are about to take a picture of?

Try ProCapture in the play store. Great camera app, and you can set the flash to "Torch" mode so that it's on full time while lining up your shot.

I tried searching and all I got was root options and ROMs I'm completely stock and intend to stay that way I just don't like the stock messaging app (skinned) and prefer the one in stock android job 4.1. I'm looking for a way to install the stock jb messaging app without root, I've done it with the stock keyboard.

Hello.. I currently am running the Heisenberg Rom and love it.. But I hate the camera..
What's the closet camera I can get that resembles TouchWiz camera..
I really want to take pictures by command words.. And would like to have the photospere feature.. But not necessarily..
Thanks

Unfortunately there isn't really a good enough camera that can compare to the manufacturer's implementation of a camera app. Google Camera Is okay.
One reason why I went back to TW was the camera. I'm a frequent picture and video taker.
Here's the difference between the 2 apps in comparison of a picture.
