I bought an HTC ONE X a couple of months ago, at first it was ok. But now it has lots and lots of problems.
WiFi problems (the well known ones)
3G and H connection problems
Random reboots
yellow spot left-hand side (some say it's glue, but I didn't notice it until today)
signal lose at random times
HTC and also the Store where I bought the phone say that they cannot replace it anymore. Does anybody know whether or not this can be fixed via an update or something? I really feel ripped off by HTC with this phone...
The yellow spot won't be something that you could fix yourself. Either get a replacement HOX or stick with it.
I've got a small yellow strip by the usb port on my HOX, and I've gotten to the point that it doesn't bug me too much. Only a little when I'm on a white page.

Hello.
I have some issues with my three day old mobile which I already changed, because my previews Desire which I bought two weeks ago had dead pixel (and this 2nd one has also a green bright pixel... but I don't bother to change it one more time because of this small error - I have to live with it - and it is a little frustrating having brand new but broken hardware).
Now my real issue... from time to time the screens are moving itself and I haven't control anymore. I don't know how to explain it.. but imagine you are dragging your home-screens continuous and in small distances really fast... it flickers... mmmh.
Is my touch screen broken or is it a software problem or.. or.. I really don't know.
I turned the device several times off but it does not really help, when I reboot the problem occurs sometimes again. And if so, I can hardly unlock the screen, because the response is so bad. Then I send it to sleep... try again, sleep, try again... sleep.. forget about it and later it is working again.
It is happening quite often.. 3-4 times this morning and in the afternoon I turned the device off completely. Now I turned it on again, and the problem occured two more times but now it's back to normal again. So ... haha... this is weird, probably I'm not using my HTC Desire right?
Since the problem comes sporadic I don't know how I should reproduce it and present a probably working device as broken to the customer service.
Any ideas? What could be a problem?
And do you have pixel errors on your Desire? I had several devices in the past (mobiles, laptop display, desktop display and so on) but never ever any pixel errors. I didn't even saw any on other devices as well. Now I had them on two HTC's in a row ...
Well,it had happened to my device two times when, after training,I tried to use it with sweaty hands.Probably sweat stayed on the screen causing false touches because the screen is so responsive.Try to reproduce it that way.If it's not that, then most probably you'll have to change to a new one again. And as for the screen problem, however small it may be you are entitled to ask for a new one as it is a factory problem and is inexcusable for a high-end 500 euro phone.
hello again..
I have still my "broken" Desire. Probably I will change it in the next days.
I made a short (****ty) video of frustration today, because it ended up not being able to response a call... (turn off the sound of the youtube-clips )
Then I shortly decided to buy a cheap ZTE Blade, but it turned out, that this device will be even more broken than my HTC Desire, which you see here:
this can't be random... three devices, and all were broken.
simply impressive.
all htc devices I've ever had have been perfect including a desire imo you should return it.
I've had bad luck with other tech before sure its annoying but all companies have dodgy units that make it through qc because they don't test every one just a random sample from each batch
What desire is it a world wide model or is it a branded one with telco software? Imo get the ruu and re flash it could be software rule that out first

Wow, you have some bad luck! Broken any mirrors recently?
Definitely looks like a hardware fault, but the Desire in your second video looks fine. Is that the broken unit?

Ok, so I returned my phone still in DOA period.
My problems were the glitching all over the place, and not just once a day, but it kept on getting worse, youtube, camera, browser, status bar, apps, multitasking, scrolling, keyboard, jumping white line in messages,etc...
Mine also was creaking arround the front camera and part of the corner of the screen there too.
My battery was displayed wrong all the time, so I couldn't see the right %.
Yellow bottom of on the screen.
Games were lagy, Tegra 3 and normal like teeter.
1 dead pixel.
Probably forgetting some problems now.
Somethings will be software, but because I(and most of us) don't know what is software I preffered to send it back before the doa period was over. Also some posters stated htv told them to send it back, witch problems same as mine.
Also if this is software for most of the part, than why isn't everybody getting the problems.
So I made this topic so you can tell what the problem was with your first device, and if you allready had your second (or third, etc) and what improved and what stayed the same... So you can we get a better vision on that.
My first phone arrived yesterday and is getting swapped out by a currier tomorrow for what will then be my second device.
The problems I am having is the jumping/bumping at the bottom of the screen; this is very inconsistant but does happen more often than it doesn't. For instance I was using the phone for 40 mins earlier it was happening, then for 10 mins it wasn't, again it happened for 5/6 mins and then didn't happen for around an hour but again its happening as we speak.
I've also had the problem whereby you can't unlock the device by pulling up the ring, and I have to shut down and startup the phone for this to be fixed. This has only happened twice so far; but again should not happen at all.
Lastly I have had the problem that when you lock the device the screen turns back on, even when you only pressed the lock button once.
I think thats everything... I do believe its software problems more than hardware, however as you have said why isn't this happening to everyone if that's the case. I guess you could look at it that maybe it is but they are either living with it or reporting it direct to where they purchased it from; either way they are not posting it on here. Who knows?
Now I do understand bugs are there in just about every phone and to be honest they are normally bugs you can live with until an update; the problem here is that the bugs are completely preventing the use of the device and/or making the use of the device very difficult. No phone should be released with this being the case.
One thing I do know for sure is that its happening to those who got the phone from a network (mines from Vodafone) and those who got it SIM free; in all areas or the world. This means they (Vodafone, Orange, O2 etc...) have not caused these problems so it eliminates any tweaks/software they may have placed onto the device meaning the problems do entirely lie with HTC to resolve. Lets just hope they do; or more importantly lets just hope its a small number of phones that are affected and that our replacements are okay.
I will let you know tomorrow what the second one is like... (sorry for the long post),
How did u notice a dead pixel
Sent From My HTC sensation (desire with rcmix s )
Phone turning back on after i pressed power button to lock the screen, got that too. But happens at random, so not always.
I saw a very tiny shiny spot when in a complete dark room, on a black background. Dead pixel i suppose.
Im considering getting it online but not sure what to do if i get a dead pixel

Send mine back because one of the 2 yellow spots didn't go away after 10hrs screen on (5 days) and I had some random restarts.
I don't want a faulty device, some devices will keep giving problems while others have no issues from the start.

You would be able to send it back if you bought it online, just like buying it from a shop. They have to give you the same period of support...

Have you had the replacement device; how is that getting on?
Has anyone who recently bought a one x (SH25) had any hardware problems with them? Not screen flicker but flex and gaps etc. I have heard about this wifi issue but are there any others? I had to return my previous handset because of faults and I now have a sgs3 which I dislike :/. I would really like to get a one x again but I'm scared ill end up getting a dodgy one and going through this whole process again.
Or HT25? I want to try and pick one up today and I hope its good
I had to return my firste One X because I had a yellow spot in one corner.
The new one works but still could not realy satisfy me. The Signal strengt of WiFi and 3G could be realy better and also had some problems while pairing it to my BT Audio System.
What was the batch number of those?
HTC One XL in Hong Kong that I just purchased has really really bad battery life and really bad rear speaker. Zoom in on images after to see how fuzzy and blurry they get. On Facebook uploads you will easily see this.
Anyone from the UK with a new one x?
I'm in the UK, I started with a sim free black/grey hox, I took it back after 5 days with poor WiFi signal. They swapped it straight away for a new one. This one is a white one. Everything is perfect with it. The only complaint I would have is that the white casing is slowly starting to get grubby. it is fully updated to the latest 1.29.11 update, the battery life is as expected, I manage to get two days life out of it unless I use it constantly all day.
No screen flicker. No auto brightness issues.

I just noticed my wifi problem is well this evening. I found that as long as I am near the wifi router my wifi reception was perfect but the minute I stepped away I got no connection and finally dropped refusing to reconnect so basically if you are in a hotel and they have the wifi router in the hallway between the rooms so that most people can pick up wifi you are going to be screwed as your wifi on the HTC One XL won't be picking this signal up.
Yeah my WiFi was really bad, even standing next to the router I would only get 2 bars signal as soon as I went into the next room it would drop down to 1 bar, and then going upstairs was a definite no no. Since it was replaced with a new one I can now go all over the house getting full signal and fast download speeds (before I couldn't even watch a YouTube clip, not even on standard definition) and even go out in the garden and get a decent signal. You should maybe think about getting yours replaced/repaired if you can.

You are holding it wrong lol.. At least they have acknowledged this problem now with our wifi

I couldn't wait to get the device the day it came out, i walked 5 miles to the nearest Three store the day before it came out only to be disappointed after they lied to me by phone telling me i could get it, but never mind, i pre-ordered it and got it the next day when the store opened,
like with all technology i was super excited to get home and play with my new technology, all was well
until i started noticing some pretty extreme overheating, it was so hot while playing games that the plastic on the back actually deformed due to heat, i thought it was just me, so without giving a damn i went to the Three store and got it replaced, no questions asked.
That was just a week after purchase, the new device wasn't overheating it was obviously just bad luck or so i thought...
during the past 2 months i started noticing more issues with the device, HTC says they are using Gorilla glass,
so nothing new here, my past 2 phones had it too, but obviously something is wrong... i first noticed a 5 mm hardly noticeable scratch on the top left end of the screen, i was sad, it's a phone that's suppose to last me 2 years, but yeah, nothing big, but now i'm noticing a hell of a lot of scratches on the screen, these aren't big scratches, they are so called "micro-scratches" but you can still see them if you are looking for them.
So
Overheating
Micro-scratches
pretty bad, but that's only the start...
last week while watching a YouTube video i noticed a white pixel on a black screen, probably something on me screen i thought but no...
turned out to be a dead pixel, tried the usual dead pixel repair stuff but no, nothing worked, i'm trying not to notice it but c'mon, it's so visible
once you know it's there, so frustrating, nothing i can do about it.
thought that was the worst thing, and quite possibly it is, but now i noticed a yellow tint spot on the bottom left of the screen, i thought the worst was with me but no, there was more to come.
so
Overheating
Micro-scratches
Dead pixel
Yellow tint spot
Pretty bad... but there's more...
Wi-Fi antenna connection fault, doesn't affect all but i got that too, it's a joke!, have my phone less than 2 feet away from the router yet i still get weak signal until i squeeze the phone (No this is not the damn iPhone 4 cellular signal fault for god sake)
So yeah...
Today i have these issues
Micro-scratches
Dead pixel
Yellow tint spot
Wi-Fi antenna fault
I'm tired of defending HTC, i loved my HTC Desire, and my HTC Desire HD, not a single problem with them,
but the fact that i had to swap my phone the week i got it, and now i have to put up with so many faults just because i unlocked my phone with your Dev site is a total unacceptable joke,
I was lucky to be one of few who's phones were suppose to be sent off to Taiwan for testing for that wi-fi issue,
that would mean i'd get a new HTC One X and all the faults would once again be gone, but HTC care manager Zoe N doesn't care any more...
it's been a week since she last replied to me, people on the phone won't let me speak to her either,
Can anything change the experience i had and make me forget it? defiantly not, unless i get a full refund and get to keep the phone.
I hope nobody else has to put up with so much crap from HTC.

I spoke to HTC number of times about the issues, but i have a voided warranty and that's the end of it.
my only hope was Zoe, the HTC care manager, but she doesn't do much caring obviously.
Do i plan on keeping the HTC One X? hardly got a choice.

And this needed its own thread because? In case you're new, a number of phones sold have issues and none of what you posted is any different than what's been posted before. If you felt like venting you could have posted in one of the complaint threads. Based on the defect poll you have a 30+/-% chance of getting a phone that's not "perfect" however the people voting defined it. Looks like you drew the short straw.
There are thousands of people with One X's participating in this forum. If everyone posted their life story (good or bad) it would take up the entire front page (and more). Do what everyone else who has experienced a problem has done. Return or sell it, exchange it if you can, or send it in for repair. Those are pretty much your choices.
If you purchased it in the UK, you're protected by consumer law. You can't sign that away (by agreeing to when you unlocked the device), the WiFi and yellow spot are more than enough to get a repair.

So i ordered my first unlocked htc 10 from tesco 3 weeks ago i now have 4 as thry keep sending replacements and telling me notbto send them back toll i get a working one i haveva feeling i could end up with 50 and still be no better off,
So the problem is after using camera/hangouts/whatsapp randomly maybe twice a day the bottom area of the touch screen stops working completly i i try and hit anything in the dock bar no response but what i have tried is opening the camera and going horizontal but that makes the "new" bottom of the screen unresponsive no matter which way i hold the device the lower section of the app wont responed till a complete reboot, theres only one exception a thats touch screen tester that shows that all sides are registering touches but the second i switch apps or go to home screen same issues i thought it might be a launcher issue so i switched no good though same problem, whats weird is if when it happens i grab an app to move it when it happens i can move it along the bottom of the screen no problem but as soon as i try tapping that area nothing at all,
Ive contacted htc which was pointless they want to repiar all 4 but i know 1 person who had exact same problem they sent it in and it came back the same ive only found 4-5 other people that have experianced this all bought devices different times different places im 99% sure its software but if htc arnt even admitting its a fault will it ever be fixed or should i send all 4 back and go for something different entirly i do love the 10 best device ive owned in a long time
My camera is vibrating which appears to be an old, and common problem for HTC phone oh phones if you ride a motorcycle. WTF. Does HTC have its summer interns design the camera hardware?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
You have the same Problem, on 4 different Phones?
Are you sure its not some Kind of App blocking the input?
Have you tried using the phone in Safemode (Power+Volume up while booting, or only volume up?) And see if it happens?
Hey I have exactly the same problem. I narrowed it down to the HTC camera app because the problem would always start after using the camera. It's not ideal but I've not had a single issue since using the Google camera app instead.
It's definitely a software issue because when the dock area stops responding I can still drag icons over the affected area of the screen. Also the unlock icon which is at the bottom of the screen still responds some I'm certain it's not a hardware fault. The fact you've had 4 devices doing the same thing would suggest this also. I'm just surprised more people aren't complaining. My FW is version 1.30.
Cannot be four hTc 10 phones what you got are having exactly the same strange problem which never appeared affecting any other user across the globe.. ??
99.99% percent that the problem is caused by your operational environment.. ?
