Tmobile visual voicemail - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Since I flashed to TAKJU 4.0.4 and 4.1, I couldn't find tmobile's visual voicemail in the Play store. It states that your device is not support in your country. I lives in USA. Do you guys experience the same thing? Anyone has that .apk file? Thank you.

Yea, I had that problem too. But I was able to find the apk outside of the Play store. I'm running 2.0.20, current version is 2.0.28, which just doesn't work at all. I'm trying to see if I can find a newer version than 0.20, but before 0.28. I've attached the apk for 2.0.20.

updated to 4.1.1 and i found the app....cool

Any thoughts on if this works on the $30 plan or any other prepaid T-mobile plan? Waiting on my phone and sim..

AFAIK Visual Voicemail is not available on prepaid

Did a search on tmobile's site and that is the case.. I really really want to go t-mobile, but it looks like because of the VVM and conditional call forwarding, I'm going it have the go ATT on the ST BYOD SIM... I ended up getting the tmobile sim for a buck and might just activate it on the $30 plan just to see exactly what kind of data performance difference I get between the two... I figure for $30 worth investigating..
I wonder if T mobile knows how many customers they are loosing out on with Straight Talk because of the call forwarding issue? I'm sure they would rather get the activation than ATT. I'm sure I am not alone in the fact that I refuse to go back to having to call in for voice mails after using gvoices voice mail for so long.

can't call forward on straight talk either

I use Visual Voicemail with my T-Mobile prepaid. I love it, so much less stressful than the typical voicemail system navigation where you press 7 or 9 (wait, which was save and which was delete again?) And with one of my service providers they seem to insist on always making me listen to my OLD messages first before I can play the unheard ones (WTF?!?) I'm not sure if T-mobile's is that way but, thanks to Visual Voicemail, I don't even have to find out, I can just press on the message I want to hear and it plays.

Download google voice, and have it handle voice mail.

100% Way to get Visual Voicemail on T-mobile

1. Download the cab for here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=265562&d=1263047170
2. Log on to My T-mobile web site
3. Change your phone to My Touch 3G
4. Then click Change Services
5. Check the box for Visual Voicemail, and click through the verification stuff.
6. Open the visual voicemail app from the phone and activate it!
DONE!!!!
This is confirmed to work with T-zones! Because I have T-zones!
I have t-zones as well.
when I change my phone in my t-mobile to either a bb9700 or mytouch3g, and try to add visual voice mail.....the system tries to remove my 5.99 t-zones.
any way past this?
Hmmm, if Tmobile tries to remove the T-zones, I think it is quite risky...just like using an Android phone with T-zones.
I also have the $5.99 plan, but I'm sticking with Windows phone since all Android phones have been switched to $25-30/month data plans.
do you have to install it to the main mem cus i have it on the card and it says getting account status ad i get a txt that i know is ment for the program cus its from 129 and says//wm:status:st= blah blah. but the program is not picking ut up

T-mobile doesn't force you to change to the different package when you change your phone.

I installed the program to the main memory. I had that come up before I changed the phone online. Once I did, and activated the software, it didn't do that again.
Hmmm, I'm a bit scared to do this lol
I switched to the MyTouch 3G (pink one) and added the "VISUAL VOICE MAIL", but it needs me to add the "Android $30 internet" and submit my changes to my monthly bill.
Did you submit it and then change back to a "dummy phone" choice?
Thanks!
If you had the grandfathered 5.99 T-Zones before, they will force you to take the $30 plan and switching to the dummy phone will not bring it back. Read the other thread.

Dang, that means OP got very lucky He has the same plan
I got it working....
I had the same trouble....
Trying to activate Visual Voice mail WILL force you to sign up for the $30 android data plan. As the Data plan is already "selected" and you cannot uncheck it.
Here is what I did....
1) Changed my Phone to MyTouch.
2) Added the Visual Voice mail.
3) Accepted the service change (knowing that I am accepting the $30 Android data plan instead of the regular smart phone data plan, which is in every way the same and is only $25).
4) After this you will have the Visual Voice mail working.
5) Change the phone back to TP2 in your account.
6) Call T-mobile and tell them you accidently changed your plan to Android Data Plan and you own/use TP2.
7) They will gladly change it back for you, because TP2 "technically" is a smart phone and not an Android phone.
You will be left with your old plan and the new visual voice mail...
I think tmobile is changing the data plan price from 25 to 30 anticipating the soon to be established 4G coverage. Once that is completed, any new data connection will be charged $30. Keep your plan unchanged, you might get grandfathered in with a better coverage.
This isn't working for me...
Edit: I just had to wait a few hours for the provioning to work.

Hmm, if this is true, it means all of us that have the old T-zones plan is out of luck (besides OP)
I know that ONCE the $5.99 internet is gone, they will have NO WAY of adding it back for me when I call.

i had to wait about 20 min for mine to work. and its odd because the my touch internet is the same as the smartphone internet. there both 25.

Visual Voice Mail Free

this is what i get if i try and add it with a touch pro2
i cant duplicate this , it also tried to add the $30 data plan too.
EDITEDITEDITEDIT!!!!!!
whooot whoot.
I followed the OP's orginal post. I too was forced to get upgraded to the $30 data plan.
I called up a friend that works at Tmobile. He was able to just add it to the account. took all of 30 seconds to text him to do it!
I have....
$89.99 retention plan for two lines unlimited voice
$5.99 each line tzones
$4.99 300 texts each line
and now visual voice mail!
i suppose one can call up and get a stupid custermer service agent to just add it. this was seems too easy, walk in to a tmobile store and ask to have it turned on. thats it.

Texting over wifi

I have international texting plan and I'm going to be traveling overseas. I know if I use wifi calling feature and call back to US it's not going to overcharge me. I called T-Mobile and asked them if same applies to texting but no one seems to know the answer for sure. Would it charge me extra if I have wifi calling enable and I'm texting an international number from overseas, since I've international texting plan?

Yes but google voice only works in U.S. As soon as you cross the border to canada or a different county google voice, hulu and bunch of other stuff doesn't work. Even some of my amazon apps won't work if I am in a different county.
This is just a shot in the dark. I need to update my sim card to use wifi calling, and i cant remember if your phone will allow a call in airplane mode (to turn your radio off) with wifi on. if it does maybe you can test the same for texts.
Upon further review it seems data must be on even for wifi calling....maybe theres an app out there that can help you out

Google voice doesn't work in Canada. I guess my question is if we have wifi calling feature on, the phone is not using its own data but the text msgs is routed thru wifi, so I shouldn't be charged for those text since I have unlimited international texting. Am I correct?

I just came back from canada 2 weeks ago and was using google voice perfectly fine. I was using it for calls though, not texts.
I am currently in the Dominican Republic, and google voice works just fine here. I am not able to setup a new account here but as long as the account was made in the U.S. first, then it can be used when going over sees.
there are plenty of alternatives, but to answer the original question, yes, it will charge you extra. Wifi calling does not support sms.
Actually Im in Canada right now and wifi calling works awesome. I have been calling and texting from the airports, coffee shops and hotels using their wifi. As of right now, I checked my account on TMobile.com and there is no additional charges.
If I am correct, after registering on tmobile network, wifi calling routes ur calling thru wifi instead of using a cell tower. During the wifi calling feature enables, ur cell tower is disabled so ur texting should be routed thru wifi also.
Please correct me if I m wrong.

That is how it works and sms messages are routed through wifi too but it wouldnt be the first time a carrier found a way to charge for services not rendered, remember att and charging people for using data over wifi. I think you should be able to swing a credit if they do try to charge you. In the future you could use a vpn to your home in the us and use gv or whatever free.

To be honest tmobile has been very good to me so far. I switched to tmobile from AT&T cuz of their really bad customer service. Google voice works good too but I hate to explain to people why I'm calling/texting from a different number. Aspecially when I travel without informing my boss lol.

Some girls I work with already think that I'm a drug dealer cuz I carry 2 phones...I can't imagine how would I explain google voice number to them. They are not very tech savvy and I don't think they would understand how a virtual google voice number would work. Do you guys ever struggle sometimes explaining tech stuff to friends or coworkers?

I would like no know this too as I just got the 4G LTE and text messaging works flawlessly, except phone calls as it gives me busy signal on all calls that are made. Don't know what's wrong. The sim card is activated and everything works as it should. Except phone calls..

There's really not a lot to talk about. The SM-P601/5 are just giant phones. Anything a N3 can do, they can do. Dialers and MMS/SMS are pretty much the same on every phone and the SM-P601/5 are no exception.
Here's a screen shot...
P.S. - In order to use the voice and messaging features the SM-P601/5 have to be provisioned by your carrier as "phones." Tablet-specific data plans don't support calls or MMS even though the device is capable.
I was waiting for a response and didn't get anyone to chime in so I finally got my note 10.1 p605 so here goes yes you need to get a sim with voice and data plan it will work. I'm currently using it as my phone at the moment and it rocks!

Is your SM-P605 from a carrier or Samsung? The U.S. carriers and possibly some others disable voice and MMS and always have in the tablets they offer. If you don't see the Dialer and Messaging apps when you look in the app drawer I'm guessing they've been disabled in whatever version of SM-P605 you have. If you see them and can't use them that means the SIM you're using probably doesn't support voice and MMS. They're either there out-of-the-box or they aren't. If they aren't there's not a lot you can do about it.
BarryH,
I got mine from the Verizon store. I downloaded a Dialer app from Google Play and tried to make a call, but still no go. The app brought up a Dialer, but when I punch in a telephone number, and press Send, it just beeps and does nothing. The Sim card was from my 4G LTE phone. I swapped it over.
I was, however, able to make calls using Google Voice & Groove IP. But man, I would just love to be able to make calls just like a phone.

Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.

Move from AT&T to Verizon. Will VVM just start working?

I'm frustrated by AT&T's stance on VVM and RCS. They don't allow the standard dialers VVM integration to work and they apparently have no intention of supporting RCS.
Can I take my pixel 3 xl from att and provision it on Verizon? Will everything "just work"? Will VVM come back magically?
Thanks!
If your using Verizon prepaid, vvm wobt work
It wouldn't be prepaid.
I want to move from att contract to Verizon contract and want to know if vvm in the dialer app will automatically be enabled when I switch carriers.

Yes it will just work. I have the Google version of the phone, it showed up as soon as I put my VZ SIM in it. Same thing happened with the OG and the 2s.
You MIGHT have to go to VZs website and turn on Visual Voicemail. I remember doing that on my 1 for either WiFi calling or voicemail. Can't remember for sure which.
Thank you for the confidence that this will work. I'll be calling Verizon Monday.
