I just flashed using the zip. If you happen to get stuck, reboot and click pushing the power button until the -- lines go to the Reset Boot Mode at the bottom and not Recovery.
I almost had a heart attack because of that,.

This is exactly what kept me from updating TWRP the last several days. Flashing over itself from inside the about-to-be-flashed app just seems wrong.
So you guys are verifying that it works?

Time flies! No idea how I got there that fast, heh.
I updated TWRP through GooManager. Once in GooManager, select Flash ROMs and it will ask you if you have a recovery. Just select "Try to find one for me", and it will allow you to download and install with one click.
the safest way to update twrp is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935
what is the latest version that can safely be placed on KF HD 8.9
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but i am having difficulty finding the information elsewhere. i"m currently running TWRP 2.3.3.0, and would like to upgrade to the latest version. I would like to know what the latest version of TWRP i can safely load on a KF HD 8.9 is. I see that version 2.4.4.0 is what was used in Hashcode's instructions, but I'm curious if that is the latest version that can be run, or if 2.5.* can be used.
Thanks!
I used KFU to upgrade on my 1st gen kindle fire

I followed these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20438599&postcount=1 I've never tried it with a pre-rooted ROM, so YMMV. Like I said I flashed this and started the root process over from scratch and this is what worked.

Hi guys, this is my first time to flash my Kindle. I rooted my KF using KFU V0.9.6 and installed TWRP 2.3.1.1.
I have may OS backup in TWRP. I flash AOKP Milestone 6 and it keeps rebooting. So i tried other roms. I flashed gederom, jandcane and cm10/sg7 but all of them are stuck in bootanimation. This was my guide in flashing my KF, techhive.com/article/258452/how_to_install_ice_cream_sandwich_on_your_kindle_fire.html,
I followed all the instructions there. Guys help, what do i miss? I can still recover my stock KF OS. TIA
Here is a link to Amazon's website for the official stock software to flash on the Kindle if you want it back to being just like you took it out of the box brand new. You'll have to re-root it if you flash this stock software. Hope it helps http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200790620#download
Thanks guitarman. I can restore the stock os.But I still want to flash.

Just untick "Auto-Reboot within odin & flash , then reboot manually power+volume up.
Another thing: I can't use odin because I don't have a computer. There's an app called flashify that installs recoveries but it still only works with 2.6.3.0. Even installing the latest version from goo manager doesn't work.

I think I will need to install TWRP with Odin -- goomanager isn't working for me. It SAYS that it has installed TWRP, but every time I try to get into recovery all I get is the standard Android recovery.
My question, please is this: where did you get the tar file for TWRP, and which slot did you use with Odin? Was it the PDA?
Thanks very much

I got mine by going to the twrp site, but I admit it wasn't exactly easy to find. You can know you're getting the right version of TWRP if you download CPU-Z from the play store and check the third page that says system; the model name gives you the store citric name you'll look for when you go to the TWRP site, but the link I gave you is for the lt03wifiue .
Have fun!

Goo manager doesn't work on our tablet for install of twrp.
Use the link four posts up for the twrp. Also, just check your SOC with CPUz, to make sure it's actually the right version of twrp for your tablet. But Odin is the way to go.

I'm hoping maybe someone could enlighten me how to get TWRP to boot into TWRP. I had CleanRom installed and everything was working with TWRP. Stupid me I thought I could help battery life by doing a Cache and Dalvik Cache wipe. Bonked my P600! I had to ODIN a new firmware, rooted and tried to get TWRP installed. I've tried the ODIN Tar method 2.6.3.1, Tried with a TWRP zip file and Goo Manager to install TWRP and none worked. When I go to recovery I keep getting the Android System Recovery. My head is banging on my desk at the moment. Would anyone have an idea how to get TWRP working on my rooted and now stock P600? I so want to get Clean 2.0 back. :crying::crying::crying::crying:
A big Thanks in advance for the help.

I put TWRP Recovery on my LS970 and tried flashing the Liquid Jelly Bean ROM on and it ended up with just pure stress. Before I flashed it I had wiped the dalvik and normal cache and even factory reset it before flashing and it said it installed correctly. I restarted my phone (and I do have an unlocked boot loader and recovery of course) and it was stuck on the Google unlocked boot picture. I tried flashing it again and Ive used LGNPST and LG Flashtool and none helped. I was wondering if there is a possible solution to this perhaps I could send a flashable zip through my computer? So you did the wipes, installed liquid, installed gapps, then rebooted and are stuck. Do you have ADB installed? If so DL this TWRP. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22909751817929287.
Extract the recovery image using 7zip.
Boot your phone into fastboot/bootloader Then cd to the folder the image is in. Then issue this command.
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
You may need to do this first. "fastboot erase recovery" then "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
If your not comfortable doing this, just google fastboot and you'll find info on how to do it. This thread seems pretty thorough. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41374534&postcount=1

Ok now we're getting somewhere.
When you used teeny bins, it installed the wrong version of TWRP to use with KK Roms. In your recovery is the version 2.6.0.0?
The easiest way to change that recovery is to use fastboot and install a KK version 2.6.3.3. You can find those in the TWRP thread or the root guide under Working recoveries.
You can also use CWM recovery if you want
So follow what is posted above, install a KK recovery, then you should be able to install Liquid.

Are you selecting the right DLL? Using either ZVB or ZVC bin?
Other than that, I don't know. Maybe you need to uninstall then reinstall the LG drivers or LGNPST.

I dont know let me go check. I thought it had something to do with the phone not the dll or bin files.
It must be the bin file because I flashed teeny bin just fine with the dll
Im an idiot. Turns out that the firmware was in a cab file which was supposed to be extracted into a bin file. It got deleted to I downloaded a stock bin from your android file host profile and Im going to flash in just a minute and tell you the results.

No worries. I can't remember where that bin file gets extracted to, but if you're downloading the bin that's fine too. I forgot to mention that ZVC is the most current, but if you have ZVB that's fine if you're gonna run CM/AOSP

Hey guys so I have a rooted kindle fire 1st gen running 6.3.3. I rooted it no problem and got the play store and have just been chilling. Recently I wanted to install a custom rom so I downloaded cm11 and gapps and went to twrp (here comes the mistake). IFirst, I realized that my version of twrp was too low (2.2.1) so I downloaded 2.7 and flashed that. Then I wiped system, data, cache, and delvik cache, and then realized I lost the rom to install. So now I was stuck on twrp with no os and not able to boot. I powered off the kindle so I could connect it to the computer and then adb push a rom onto it. Now when I try to boot the kindle into recovery it shows the blue teamwin logo and then stays at that, occasionally flashing black as if it was trying to load. Any help on how to fix this because now I can't even get into recovery and I can't boot.
If you can get into twrp there is an option to mount usb which makes it show up on the pc as an external drive to easily transfer rom file to. May need a factory reboot usb cable at this point or try to run the rooting utility again if it shows up as add device to reinstall recovery

Sorry I forgot to edit the post I read the end of your forum and updated my rom and flashed cm11 successfully, but when I tried to flash the gapps after successfully booting, my kindle got stuck on the boot animation.

Verify md5's for files? If not see https://sites.google.com/site/sdshadowscollection/home/hash-checksums
In twrp wipe>advanced >check all boxes except storage/SD card
Swipe to wipe
Install Rom and gapps

It can take up to 10 mins to boot a Rom, any longer than that, probably isn't going to boot.

So I followed all of your advice and now I'm smoothly running cm11 with your reccommended gapps. However, I can't reboot my kindle as when I do, it gets stuck on the cm11 boot animation and I have to go back to recovery and reinstall the cm11 and gapps. Any suggestions?
