Any thoughts on a custom ROM and/or kernel that can help boost battery life?
I am on stock 4.0.4
Does 4.1(.1) improve battery performance as a whole?
Thanks

4.1 will NOT improve battery life without a custom kernel. If you go to jelly bean, get the latest lean kernel.

I recently flashed AOKP with Franco's kernel and my battery life dropped significantly. Before I was running MoDaCo 4.0.4 and it was really good, now its borderline unacceptable. Which ROMs are the best for battery life?

Personally up till a couple of days ago I was running stock 4.0.4 with Franco's Kernel AND his Kernel Updater app. He has this mod called HotPlug that turns off a CPU when the screen's off, very cool.
However with IMM76I I'm getting similar battery life stock, unrooted. I got better battery life with 4.0.4 and Franco's than AOKP and Franco's.

Try Franco kernel located here it works really good on for me in terms on battery life...
Although others have suggested to use trinity kernel and have excellent performance, stability and battery life which is located here
There isn't one....

Is there a current ROM that is rock stable and offers good battery life? I don't mind if its JB or ICS but battery life is really important
Actually roms do not affect battery life, the responsable of battery dains is the kernel, in my experience I have tried only stock ics (rom and kernel) and battery life was decent, then I switched to miui with air kernel and with this kernel I have the best battery life for my use. You have to try different kernes and its setup because every user has different tasks to do with the phone.

Kernel is probably the cause of the battery drain, not ROM

try whichever you want:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
as mentioned above
im very happy with franco's kernel ...you should try it...its stable and gives a great battery life
plus the all the cool options
IMO the best ROM isn't listed on this website. It is CodeNameAndroid. I know it is a ROM full of controversy and I don't care. It is by far the best one I have tried (I have tried almost every ROM), no others even come close. I am running it with the Trinity Kernel v35.
AOKP for ICS or ParanoidAndroid/CM10 for JB
is it really possible with no great effect on battery life?
what kernel and rom your using running this rate?

Why don't you try it? It shouldn't have much of an effect on battery life, even overall performance. I used Franco or faux kernel when i overclocked.

CM9/10 + LeanKernel @230:1350 Hz for the past 10 month with no problems, of cousre CM means any rom based on CM such as PA
Hi all, I'm on Jedi X16. I've only tried 2 kernels. Stock and SaberKernel 32.2 both give great battery life.
What TW kernel give you great battery life?
CHEERS!!!
I'm using faux123 and the 9000 mAh battery from zero lemon. Pretty amazing. Faux123 has an intelligent on demand that has kept this note 2 very snappy compared to the stock Kernal. I'm running stock rom with rooted and some xposed modules and they keep it snappy.
